Wow, what an exceptional place for dinner. Delicious food, amazing friendly service and a comfortable warm and tastefully decorated setting. All of the staff we interacted with were lovely but in particular Katie was fantastic. Great service blended with Irish charm and wit. The food was freshly cooked, served in a timely manner and mouthwatering. This place is a must stop for anyone visiting Camlough or the surrounding areas.

Lots of people were talking about this place saying that’s very good etc. Went there and I was very disappointed Haven’t a minute to breathe over my dinner, plates went in and out as quick as a fast food . The must was to be charged for a slice of cheese on a burger,… Never see that anywhere, 20£ for a bap and beef burger and then you pay extra for cheese, I really think that a disgrace I couldn’t say food was bad or great but just a random quality restaurant Won’t rush back there anyway

Simply great. The service staff is very friendly and gave me good advice. The location is really unique. It has a super nice interior and everything is decorated with great attention to detail. The toilets are first class clean. The food was really tasty and the beer was also simply a ten out of ten. The parking situation is sometimes a bit difficult. But for lunch I was lucky enough to find a place right in front of it. I would go there again to eat at any time. Very clear recommendation.

Had great food beautifully presented,lovely and hot,steaks were perfectly cooked only second time there and it was even better than before.

Yellow heifer use to be our go to restaurant but hadn't been in a couple month. Disappointed to see when we arrived the beef wraps which were our favourite starter were no longer available as the menu had changed. Decided on buchetta, which wasn't great, there was a funny taste we couldn't put our finger on and the bread was all soggy so must have been sitting a while. Steak options were limited, use to have an option of different size steaks to choose but there was only one size fillet which was too big for a family member. Use to love the mash but wasn't great, texture of more of instant mash, very disappointing. Sirloin steak was good tho. Was happy with it. Got soup for a family member, just not as nice as use to be. Over all left feeling disappointed, a place that use to be our favourite. An expensive meal for what it was

Was here last night with a few friends and from we went it was fantastic. Friendly staff and food absolutely gorgeous. Definitely recommend the yellow heifer. Well done to everyone 👏👏

Travelling back from Dublin, we waited to get here as it was recommended to me a long time ago. Fantastic staff, lovely setting and delicious food! Worth every penny! We both said we would return tomorrow only for living 2 hours north.

It’s been a very long time since we’ve been here. Literally years. I’d thought it only opened Thursday thru Sunday so an Easter Monday opening was a nice surprise. We hadn’t planned on going here as we had intended to try Melissa O’ Hare’s food truck offerings that were the same offerings a week ago on our first sojourn. She had parked up within a glamping style place with a stunning view of Camlough lake. It was a dull cool overcast grey day. We speculated that Melissa wouldn’t be too busy. Wrong, as the line was huge. We guessed we’d queue at least an hour but we aren’t prepared to queue five minutes especially in this climate of 9 winter months, two autumn months and maybe one summer month. So we ended up here. All four of us loved our food here. I had delicious fish tacos (£16 with a choice of side). The fish was cod in a light batter with fresh lime, coriander, fresh chilli. My first choice of scampi wasn’t available. I opted for a chunky chips side to share around as I didn’t want them. While 5 star grub it’s too expensive for what it is but was the only dish overpriced. I noted from the menu that a fillet steak with fixings is now £40. The desserts (all £6.5) were scrumptious and fair priced - I had raspberry ruffle baked Alaska and a flat white (£3). Cosy place. The staff are wonderful too. Hope we return soon.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm and friendly customer service, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. The meal itself was simply lovely - every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. Back again today. Even better. Customer service and food are top notch.

Poor food for the price. 2 meals returned out of 4! Poor reflection of a restaurant that cant cook a simple steak as both came out extremely rare despite asking for medium/ rare. When paying advised staff member that was happy that meals were returned to which her response was “well it was fine to eat when redone was it not? Total unacceptable it should of been right first time! Wouldnt recommend wasting your money here.

Very over priced menu we founded hard to pick a dish that we would have liked. Have been here a few times food was nicer and reasonably priced. We didn't enjoy our meal at all. Sorry won't be back. Staff were friendly and service good but the good has to be good and enjoyable as well

Really good place for food. Fire lit and fairy lights inside add something extra. I had the chicken curry which was full with chicken and vegetables. Wouldn’t say it’s spicy. My partner had the pulled pork fritters and lamb two ways which he enjoyed. We had the Baked Alaska and sticky toffee pudding deserts were amazing. Big desert portions!

Went to the yellow heifer at 3.30 in the afternoon for lunch . This was a family Christmas reunion. If I was to go in to details of the things that was wrong I would be writing for an hour . Basically the food was not good at all everyone chips were reheated steaks were all dry and some was overcooked . To pay almost £600 for the group and to be handed food of that standard is not good . But when this happens to me I just say vote with your feet and never ever go back ! ! But obviously they can afford to list this happen

Absolutely brilliant, booked last minute after a day shopping and the staff were fantastic. Service was great and the food was even better . Was the best scampi I’ve ever had , my wife and mother were also delighted with what they had ordered. Will definitely be back. Thank you 5 stars .

Staff were pleasant but obviously untrained. Seems more like a local customer based, we were strangers & felt like it. Unwelcoming & even though there were many free tables we were put beside a door, maybe a door to the toilets, I think, which people kept using. Food was mediocre & that’s being kind. Very overpriced. Won’t be back.

Visited on a busy Sunday evening. We had excellent food and the service was fantastic. We had the goats cheese flatbread a heifer burger and the roast beef. All of the food was beautifully presented and tasty. We have visited many times.

I have heard other people talking about this place with great reviews. I have to admit I was so well pleased. The food was great. I had fillet mignon and cubed garlic potatoes. My husband had soup cod and prawns. We shared a baked Alastair. All was beautiful. Service was lovely and warm old fashioned. It was my first visit but definitely I will be back. 1st class. Highly recommended.

Always good food and if you allow staff time as their are buzy you will find this place is a gem Old style surroundings with steak a speciality .We weren't rushed through the meal .I enjoyed it thoroughly

Went there for Sunday lunch. In summary, below average and completely overpriced. My sister had the butchers cut which was bland and tough. The sides of veg were so overcooked they were just mush. I asked for more and was presented with another bowl of mushed watery veg. Save your money for fish and chips or local takeaway. Better value!

Hidden Gem!! By far the nicest place I have been for dinner, such friendly staff and a brilliant atmosphere just such a beautiful restaurant. The food is to die for!! And the steak Is just next level😍😍 and might I add so are the cocktails, highly recommend… you’ll not regret!!

Best food in a long time, we both ordered sea food chowder in main size portions. They were huge! On the side was the nicest Guinness wheaten bread I’ve ever tasted. We also ordered a side of skinny fries and mushrooms! Honestly I’d eat it all again now. The staff couldn’t have been any friendlier. Even catering for two drunk girls and having a bit of craic. We booked a table at the Yellow Heifer during Christmas and New Year. The service was great and food was good too. Family members had the chicken and beef burgers and I went for the sirloin steak, my steak was a little over cooked but this didn't spoil the dinner. Would certainly go back and I do recommend this restaurant (but remember to book!).

We rang very last minute on a busy Sunday eve, they fitted us in not a problem and didn’t rush us to give the table back which in itself is 5 stars. We had cocktails before been seated they were gorgeous! The menu was full of taste and we struggled to pick from so much! For starters I had beef pancakes and my partner had spring rolls the presentation the style and food was amazing! Main course I had the sirloin (medium) it was possibly one of the best steaks I’ve had and was cooked to perfection! My partner had the stir fry and it was amazing too! Plenty in the portion also! The service was fantastic they were attentive and service with a smile. Will be back sooner rather than later!

Unbelievable - one of the best restaurants I have ever ate in in Ireland. Me and my partner both could have ordered everything on the menu it’s so extensive. The service, setting, ambience and food are top class. Well worth stopping off along the M1. Will be returning again 5 stars

One of the best meals I've had in ages! I first went to The Yellow Heifer 8+ years ago and it was great. I recently decided to go again and it is still amazing. The decor is really cute and quirky inside and the food is unreal. I had the prawns to start, turkey and ham dinner for main and salted caramel creme brulee - all was amazing. Service was brilliant too, I'll be back again!

Just in the area looking something to eat , seen the reviews and rang. They fitted us in even though they were busy on a Thursday night. Lovely unusual decor inside. Warm & cosy. What a lovely place the new outdoor area is amazing class swing seats tables look like 4 poster beds with white flowers around them while the pizza oven flames away in front of you then inside is laid out with all your nice neatly laid tables menu is great food is beautiful staff are friendly and helpful and ya can't beat the pints overall 5 stars.

I found this little restaurant on a cold and rainy night on my way home from shopping in Newry. What a find! The dining room is cozy and the service was prompt. I ordered the seafood chowder and the goat-cheese-and-beet appetizer. Being from Boston, I'm a connoisseur of chowder -- and, honestly, this one took first prize. Loaded with seafood, it came with the most amazing dark wheaten bread made with treacle and Guinness. The goat-cheese and beet dish was delicious. Located in a tiny village well off the beaten path, this restaurant is well worth the detour!

Just home from our very first meal at YH. We’re told at arrival that our COVID vaccines would be checked once seated. THEY WERE NOT!! Ordered main courses but told that kitchen was busy so Inga suggested that we may wish to consider a shared starter. Appreciated her honesty and we were really easy on time so we were happy with her suggestion. Had (lovely) starter but 1 hour later still no main course. Then Inga (so attentive) offered us drinks on the house for our inconvenience. Main course… 2 fillet steaks + 2 kids meals. Before Inga left our table she asked us to check our steaks to see that they were cooked to our specifications. In all my years of ordering steaks, I have NEVER been asked that. Great question cause mine needed 2 mins more cooking. Food was fabulous. Worth the wait. To the owners of this establishment… please, please appreciate Inga. She is your best asset. We had such a great meal, albeit late, but no worries. We have booked again for next Sunday. Hope Inga is looking after us xx

This place has great staff and a warm relaxed atmosphere. We were served promptly in a tasteful way. Tons of sides and all delicious. Although there was a crown we were not pressurised to leave. A real gem in Camlough

So decided on a couple of starters as we were hungry, we ordered calamari which was so tasty n cooked to perfection also portabello mushrooms which I nearly liked the plate when I finished, we then ordered duck n some side orders and a lovely prawn curry, now I must say it was very tasty the prawn curry was just to die for, the duck was very moist n hardly any fat on it,the presentation was very good too n the red wine was amazing, I would definitely be back here again, the price is very reasonable too n u know they cook this to order so it's well worth the wait

Food is fabulous and ambiance is a treat. There's so much thoughtfulness in the decor that it's no surprise that the food overachieves. Chef Ann Crawley deserves the credit and applauds she and her hardworking mostly female brigade get, I was very impressed. Excellent small collection of craft beer, middling range of wines. Gaelic coffee, we had more than one!

Excellent service. In relaxed atmosphere. Food exceptional. And good value. We had a variety of starters and mains. The steaks and fish dishes were all very good. Chicken wings excellent and a lovely touch was the little bowl of hot water at the table. Steaks were well cooked to order as were the fish dishes The portions were more than adequate Small choice of deserts the night we were there and none of them really rocked. But overall was an excellent meal at a reasonable price. There was a welcoming fire and the friendly staff ensured it was well lit. The environment was good.Great photos and olde world artifacts However we were slightly disappointed in the food. I took the fish stew. It had plenty of fish etc. but i thoughy the sauice was weak. The others took the fish and cjhips and said the schips were not fully cooked.

Loved this place straight away, very quant and friendly. Had a drink whilst waiting on the table to be ready. Waitress very friendly and helpful nothing was a problem. Food came out in good time. My starter was georgous beef pancakes really enjoyed them. Had the steak sandwich for my mains. OMG it was georgous too. And the plate was full not able to finish it. In my opinion the best food available in the Newry and Mourne area. Not the cheapest but as a treat every now and then it doesn’t disappoint. Service is excellent too.

Went for birthday dinner on Sunday evening - our 3rd time trying to get a table here. The service was fantastic, only denied a 5* by not getting our final drinks order. Staff were so professional. excellent surroundings, and the food was the best Ive ever tasted, and great portions. Home made nachos, home made baked alaska were the best. The prawns in the Beef & Reef were delicious. 10 choices for dessert and I wanted 7 of them....so we resolved to return and very soon - if we can get a table. Don't miss this gem of a place.

We recently visited the yellow heifer for food one friday evening, no reservation made and they were able to seat us straight away. I ordered the cocktail special which was gorgeous. We shared the crab starter which was so nice and then both ordered a special. This consisted of Fillet steal, cod piece, chorizo and prawn salad, marie rose sauce on the side and a sauce for the steak, also came with a side. The food was excellent and the staff are brilliant too. Cant wait for the next visit.

Beautiful food as always, very attentive courteous staff in a great atmosphere. Always busy when we are here testament to the fab place that it is. Mist enjoyable night thanks.
