Seven Springs in Cotswold

We booked early at 7pm on Saturday. It wasn't very busy with not many tables occupied. It was our first visit to The Hungry Horse and we were impressed by the menu options and the reasonable prices. Service was good. However, two of the three meals were ok but the fish and chips was poor. The fish was overcooked and dry. I really should have sent it back. We were then told the bar was shutting at 8pm and we were asked to get any further drink orders in. The reason was apparently trade and staff issues because of the A417 road closures. I had some sympathy for this because managing the pub in this location must be difficult during the A417 construction. However, that was no excuse for the poorly cooked food which we commented on. The website hasn't been updated with changes to opening hours.

Shocking we booked a table for 9 people 2 weeks ago then on the day get a message do not come in as we have no staff the table was booked for a 40th people coming from afar to celebrate and we are notified less than 4 hrs before we are due to sit.when we contacted the "restaurant " the exact words were "that's not our problem".!!! Stay clear is the best advice if the staff are shocking on the phone so dread to think what the atmosphere is like.

Food was delicious but kept getting 2 flies landing on food and table also huge coweb above table which really put me off !!!

My food was good, although when we arrived the table was sticky. They ran out of steak as we were ordering and also had no milk and the coffee machine was broken. Felt sorry for the staff who were having to inform of these shortages and getting grief for it. Pub was advertising for several positions.

Nothing was to much trouble - the poppadum's had a stale texture to them - may have been under the hot light to long but the were replaced immediately - all staff we extremely helpful and great customer service.

Had a lovely meal with my family, was really busy on the bank holiday so recommend you book. The staff seemed happy, giggling and joking with each other. Has a small pool table which is not in an age restricted area like some other hungry horse pubs. Play area outside and the garden are lovely. Highly recommended.

Dropped into the Seven Springs for a meal at 15.15pm today only to be told they weren't taking 'walk-ins' only reservations, this despite the place being nearly empty. This is now the third time this has happened, so won't be trying this pub for food anymore as can't be relied upon.

Massive meals. Make sure your REALLY hungry if your coming here. 😉 Food is awesome. Staff are very friendly and always make time for you. Always a pleasure eating here. PERFECT.👍👍👍

Unfortuneatly no food as reduced food service times..but warm welcome and service good. Menu looked OK for families and plenty of seating inside and out. Cocktails most interesting and good value for money

Visited on Sunday. Restaurant was really busy, but they managed to get us a table. Food was hot and came out efficiently, staff and service were great, and now the conservatory has been decorated looks so much better. Be back very soon. Thank you for a great visit.

Nice little stop of when driving through and nice beer garden for Children to play a reasonable menu with lots of deals .

Once again, have turned up for dinner and they are only supposedly serving bookings. Online it says kitchen open till 9pm All hours online don’t match what they do. How ever you can’t book as tried to this morning. Car park empty bar 4/5 cars so was hardily busy for a Friday night. Ongoing issue of them not serving as 3rd attempt to be met with a piece a paper on the door with a different excuse.

It is a decent restaurant/pub. Nicely priced,no budget breaker meals and drinks. Service was quick. Table and chairs were a bit shabby and sticky. Playground for kids just outside of the pub. Plenty of allocated parking. I would recommend this pub.

Always have a lovely meal here, bring the kids probably once a week, reat deals never costs more than 40 odd pounds for a family of 4 with drinks, staff are always lovely and the manager is always smiling and attentive, clearly ran very well.

This is a nice place with a children's play area but the gate to the play area needs to be fixed as it is broken and nails are showing

We've been here a few times, the food is always good, reasonably priced and served quickly. The sizzler is usually excellent although it sometimes doesn't sizzle! Very reliable place to call.

Went for a meal with my family and despite them being busy they managed to fit us in. Niamh at the bar was very friendly as well as Dan. They served us very quickly and made us feel very welcome. Lau mirella and Michaela were so friendly when they brought our food out and made sure we had everything we needed. 10/10 would recommend

Highly recommended. I expected it to be an expensive one but they gave cheap and quality food with very good service.

Unfortunately, I have had to change my review dramatically! On Tuesday 1st August 2023 we had a table booked (booked 2 days in advance!) Our booking was at 18:15. We walked in and were shouted at "we are not serving food now!" We replied that "we had a table booked and it was booked 2 days ago would you like to see our reservation on the phone?" The reply was a blank "no I have gone through and updated all the reservations" (obviously not completed very well). The two women who were at the bar were very rude and had next to no customer service! It was especially rude to be shouted at as soon as we walked through the door! Our 3-year-old was very hungry and burst into tears! They did not care we had no apology from either of the two women who were working at the bar! This is a shame because Lau and Micaela (members of staff) who served us in the past were fantastic! And I still stand by this. Unfortunately, after this event, we will no longer be going to the seven springs on a regular basis. Being a reputable reviewer and having a good following, I can assure everyone this is a legitimate review.

Very disappointed. My mum, dad, 2 kids and myself decided to go for lunch here, the website said they were open from 11am - got there to find they were shut! Find it absolutely ridiculous considering it’s the summer holidays!

I do not recommend !!!! be careful if you have an important family celebration!! . We booked a table for the celebration baptism of a child, we did not get any feedback about the lack of a table or an staff . After arriving at the place, they did not let us into the restaurant. We stayed with family and small children without lunch on such an important day.

The worst food I've ever had! We used tesco vouchers but left soon after leaving most of our mains, didn't even want to experience sweets even for free, so wasted the remaining vouchers. Staff were lovely but wouldn't of fed my dogs the mixed grill I had!

Very very tired pub. Did not have any food so cannot comment and only stayed for one drink in very run down garden.

Staff were very friendly but unfortunately they were short on staff so were not allowing any walk ins to order food and only serving people that had pre booked. Not their fault but still an inconvenience as you wouldn't normally expect to have to book ahead on a Thursday evening

Was a quiet and cloudy mid morning so wasn't busy and therefore the 3 stars for atmosphere. Staff were very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Food is never going to be amazing but was tasty and filling. Overall happy and will be back.

Really nice Hungry Horse, definitely one of the best we’ve been to. Clean tables, welcoming staff, usual cheap menu with good offers, food came out correct and hot, good value for money. Good size free carpark, has garden seating and a little play park for small children.

Lovely staff, lovey setting. Good food and selection of drinks. It could do with more staff at busier times maybe? It has now changed its open hours. And is now closed all day Monday.

Me and my family have been coming to this restaurant for absolute years and it is by far my favourite place to go, especially now. The staff are incredibly friendly and take good care of us. Food is always lovely too, it’s an all around great time.

As hungry horse restaurants go this is one of the best I've been to clean inside pleasant staff and food was cooked well and served quickly

Booked this for a birthday meal as a family friendly venue. There is a small play area. Plenty of tables, service good and food well presented and fairly good selection. The dining area is looking a bit shabby in my view and toilets were ok though not brilliant. A mid range meal place to take kids.

Excellent value for money when using BOGOF burgers on a Friday. Large garden with children's play area. Poor selection of Cask beers considering it is a Greene King owned pub, who have been buying out breweries for years, but cannot be bothered to sell any of their beers.

The food was pretty darn good for a Sunday, and definitely good value for money, as always. £70 for 4+2, with drinks, and desert, and everything came out hot and there were no complaints- what more is there to say? 😌

You get what you pay for. Good size portions but very bland food. Kids food was served on plates too hot to touch, let alone a toddler, not at all appropriate. Asked the waiting staff to change the plates, which they did, though very reluctantly. The kids enjoyed their meals and pudding. The lad behind the bar seemed as though he didn’t want to be there and as though we were an inconvenience.

Food was cold and small in portions, décor definitely needs updating and looked dirty in places. Some staff are more friendly than others! Have been coming for years but last 3 times left feeling very disappointed ☹️

Called for a light lunch. My husband went for the all day breakfast which was excellent. I had the mac n cheese again excellent. The service was first class , staff very friendly. Sat outside it could do with a little TLC. Will be back

Friends and I had an excellent meal here. I had a lovely Lesagne and superb rich chocolate cake with ice cream. The best part was having a meal with very good friends.

A great pub and very friendly service. We got bacon cheeseburgers and fries and the berry-apple crumble. The food was delicious and the portions ample. Good fries. The staff was outstanding.

I'll start by saying that the food was amazing, the ladies that served us were friendly and very helpful. My 1 star review it's coming because i had to witness something disgraceful, one of the guys serving on the tables ( nice bloke, very friendly welcoming us ) has been treated very rude by some of his customers after all of this his manager did not took any actions against customers he seemed all good with customers being rude and swearing to one of his staff! That not a scene that i want to see when i'm going out for a nice and quiet Sunday out! 👎

I take my mother every week, friendly staff, good food. EJ serves us every week and is great.

We stopped for coffee and snack while on Cotswolds Way walk, was amazed that the bathrooms were immaculate, I just had to comment on that...says something about the cleanliness of the entire place! Had garlic mushrooms, very good, and loved the cappucinno.

Always come here with my family and have never been disappointed. Decided to pop in last minute yesterday and although it was incredibly busy they managed to fit us in. They warned us that there may be a wait in food but we were happy to wait. Food came out hot with lovely staff accommodating our needs. We will definitely return

This has always been our family "go to place". Booked today for sons 8th birthday. Staff assumptions clearly overheard, them believing we turned up for the current Easter deal. (Not the case as even though I had 2 children under 10 dining they had adult meals). Plenty of empty tables but we were given 1 right by the garden door so people constantly brushing past us, not to mention the chill whilst waiting for food. Standards have gone downhill. One of the meals (1/2 chicken) looked like it had been cooked yesterday, my son had 1 taste and couldn't even contemplate eating any more. Disappointing, waste of money and my children never want to return.

food took a long while to turn up, when turning up forgot half of the burger on the kids meals. And the kids meals were cold. We ordered the beans and jacket potato and the beans were cold. The chips were cold. It was also rubbish service!!!

Sadly having lived close to this once for years... i have to give a bad review. The booking system always shows as fully booked , which it never is.... And no one ever picks up the phone.. Gone down hill over the past few years

Haven't been to this eatery for a few years. The welcome is good and the staff very attentive. The prices are very reasonable, but the quality of the food has declined. Maybe it's a supply issue or just that quality has been sacrificed to keep the price down. Overall it was ok, but maybe a few years until I go back.

Doing it's best to be the most depressing place to eat in Gloucestershire.

This is a typical Hungry Horse and gets very busy. It is best to book and not just turn up. Because it is busy they can run out of things,so always have a second choice ready when you order....just in case. The staff are always really friendly,don't be afraid to ask if you want gluten free,or have allergies.

Arrived for sunday lunch and was told they were taking bookings only. Asked if we could book and come back later and was told no. Staff were rude and unapologetic

Went for a meal there, have been before and it was ok but this time was quite the opposite, service from the majority of the staff was good apart from one server who accused me of vaping inside and threatened to kick me out if I do it again, so reported this to the bar staff and asked that he dosent serve us, after that everytime he walked by we were getting very dirty looks, and at the end of the meal when my wife asked for his name the reply was "what do you need that for you've allready complained" unfortunately this spoilt the whole evening which was a shame as the food was ok, so will we go back there NO is the simple answer, will be informing head office but will they do anything ????????????? Unfortunately, after that visit 1 star is more than I wanted to give but it won't let me give 0 stars

Came for a meal with my family of 5 on Saturday 4th February, we had not booked a table and it was really busy but the manager Dan welcomed us in and found us somewhere to sit. Ordering food and drinks was super easy and the staff working on the bar (Tegan and Chloe) were really friendly and very helpful with regard to my Son’s allergies. They gave me an iPad so I could search the menu for all the safe foods my son would be able to eat. The whole process was really easy and I was genuinely surprised for a big chain pub, just how homely it felt and how helpful and friendly the staff were. Food came out promptly and piping hot, again all the waiting staff were very friendly all the meals tasted really nice, everyone was happy. My younger children were given lots of attention from the lovely staff and colouring sheets and crayons to keep them busy. Perfect! Well done seven springs, we had a really great meal, at a really reasonable price with fantastic staff that absolutely made our trip. Will definitely be returning soon!

Great Staff and service. Very prompt arrival of food after ordering. Food was piping hot and very tasty. Good selection and excellent value for money. Plenty of parking, play area outside for children and in the good weather, al fresco near the springs. Ducks are very curious. edit for 5/02/23 Birthday for my 83 year old dad. The app was a bit slow and for the odd thing, difficult to navigate. Also, the vouchers I bought from you, I could not use on the app. The food took awhile to arrive, which is not the norm. We assumed they were some staff down. Of the 4 steaks that were brought out, they were all cooked to our specific requests, but 2 were tough and chewy. The other 2 were perfect and juicy. Chips were nice and hot but, on my Full Monty Grill, there were hardly any chips whilst on the menu, it said a large portion The sausages were nice but the chicken was dry. Onto the desserts, which again, took a while. My Sticky toffee with bourbon was gorgeous and hot, but the custard was tepid a best. Saying all that, it was an anomaly and nothing like the food we usually get, so we will be back. Lastly, the service and staff, as usual, were great, helpful and friendly.

Came here over the weekend, despite them being busy the staff were able to find me and my family and were very welcoming. When ordering at the bar the member of staff behind the bar was very helpful and the service was efficient. Food came out quickly and the portion sizes were great for the money. All the staff were polite and friendly. Will definitely return here again soon! Will highly Recommend to anyone.

Party of 14 for my nephew's 30th birthday. From the outset, a friendly welcome from the young lady setting our table up. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name as nothing was too much trouble for her all evening. Alejandro behind the bar and Dan the manager were great in sorting out bills and drinks for each group or couple. I had several pints of IPA which was lovely and everyone agreed that starters, mains and puddings were great. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Shame that booked for 1.30 on a Sunday and by then only chicken left available. Arrived with no stuffing ( also ran out) and minimal veg ( looks like running short of that too).

Brilliant meal. Friendly staff. Nice and clean. We visited at noon on a Thursday. So hopefully the same will be said when we return with the kids on an evening. The only let down is the lethal exit onto the main road.

Food was okay,hot and served on hot plates. Surroundings were clean but shabby. Paint work could have done with redoing.

2 of the Waitresses were unhelpful and not very polite. Chicken slimy. Sausages tasteless and dry. Gravy not very nice. We all had the runs after eating here and felt sick.

Excellent value for money with great service. Plenty of food cooked nicely. Nothing to complain about for us. Highly delighted.

Latte coffee was milk no coffee so returned and fresh one made. Meals were nice but only warm not hot. Used to be first class years ago.

Been here so many times always take my wife here. Phoned tonight to be told that they have changed the opening times no food after 7.30 that's not a restaurant it's a pub now and look what's happened to all the pubs. So disappointed won't be back was a good place now destroyed. Thanks alot management

A group of 7 of us arrived Monday ( new year Bank Holiday) mid afternoon, to be told their not doing anymore food, even though only a couple of tables had anyone sat at them. This is the 2nd time I've been turned away under similar circumstances, no food available even though hardly anyone in there, last time was a Saturday afternoon, group of 4. Staff quite abrupt at refusing our business.
