A brilliant coffee shop in town, with excellent coffee

Really nice, l tried de pop corn milk shake, deli deli!!

We've only enjoyed a nice mid afternoon coffee here but its in a quaint setting & well worth a visit!

Had to wait 30 minutes to get 2 large cups of coffee costing over £8. The coffee was luke warm and was awful. When I told a staff member, I was told they had been having a lot of problems with the machine..It would have been nice to have an offer of another coffee or refund..

I came here for a coffee and cake with my mum as a nice break from our day in town. We were served by Liam who was incredibly friendly and made a wonderful honeycomb iced latte. He made my day! I always have a lovely experience in Coffee#1 and will certainly come back soon

Avoid! Totally inept. 2nd time I’ve walked out in 2 weeks. Wasn’t busy, second in the queue to be served and after 10 minutes I’ve given up. Staff seem clueless, half tables were empty (and yet multiple tables that haven’t been cleared?). Just dreadful. Walked into a competitor, which was much busier, and within 10mins I’m sat down with hot food and drink.

Coffee and sandwiches were great. Server forgot the teaspoons. Otherwise a great experience.

This is a disgustingly unhygienic 🤮 place with the worst customer service in Cirencester. Dirty and uncleared tables, the staff (older gal named Sophie) makes judgements on the customers and sarcastically laughs in your face. If that’s not enough to turn you off, the lavatory is disgustingly dirty with water on the floor and urine and dried excrement on the loo seat. I asked if they had cream tea, and she disrespectfully laughed and said that I have to go to Cornwall for that! I’ve had cream tea in London, Oxford, Tetbury, and Cirencester! Then I asked if I could have milk for my tea, and again she (Sophie) laughed and sarcastically said “ohh wow how unusual..”. This was unequivocally my worst experience in Cirencester. If anyone is looking for a place to have a coffee or afternoon tea, please go somewhere else where the staff actually care.

I think there’s a serious staffing issue at this location, as others have noted. The product is very good, but it’s nearly impossible to get a correct order. The people making the drinks are usually great, just overwhelmed by how much they have to do. Today, however, the lady on the till snapped at me when I was making sure my partner, who is hard of hearing (and whose hearing aids are not always helpful in the noisy environment of a packed coffee shop) had ordered correctly, crossly commenting, “Yes, we got there in the end.” Well, in the end, we were given the wrong order anyway, which seems to be how it goes.

Okay coffees. Probably the best your getting in Cirencester.

Good service love the coffee can't fault it

Slow service, uncleared tables, toilet very dirty, with no toilet paper, water all over the floor creating a slip hazard, loo had pee all over it. When staff made aware said they would get round to it when they weren’t so busy. If they can’t keep it clean it should have been closed off. An accident waiting to happen.

Probably the best coffee in Cirencester but you have to get there quickly because it’s always HEAVING! Staff are very nice and helpful

After a walk around Cirencester Park with a group, we went to coffee 1. Some of us had cakes, and some didn't. All was good

Understaffed as it was very slow service and they obviously didn't have anyone clearing and cleaning cups, as they were serving coffees in take away cups. This was the second time this year to this coffee shop and had the same problem last time. The coffee was also bitter, so needed more sugar, which was annoying as you had to ask for it from behind the counter. The staff were rationing the sugar which was ridiculous, never had that anywhere else. Leave the sugar out front for people to help themselves for goodness sake. Will try a different coffee shop next time.

Simple order, 2 x oat lattes. Ended up having several customers getting drinks mixed up, we were offered 2 gingerbread lattes with skimmed milk, had to get that sorted, during that time the lady had a face of thunder and another slamming small plates about which had just come out of the dishwasher but still looked dirty. Coffee eventually came but was luke warm. The other coffee 1 l go to is 10 x better than this place. Glad this wasn't my first visit to a coffee 1. Won't be returning here.

Great coffee chain, service was amazing as there only appeared to be 1 hard working member of staff

First class service. Very caring staff towards my mother in law. We were stuck in Cirencester as my car was being fixed in Cirencester and took far longer than expected. As I was waiting at the garage the coffee shop looked after 'Jean' who is 86 and let her stay there after closing time making sure she was warm and safe until I managed to pick her up. So a huge thank you to the very kind and considerate staff who were so helpful towards Jean! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

A nice place to have a coffee and cake with friends.

Just had coffee, fruit juice and cake to take out, but found Cafe clean with good selection of food and drink options. Staff friendly and helpful. Parking is difficult outside, so pay and display is only a 2 minute walk.

Pros - Lots of seating, Nice sofa , Good coffee , nice location , open early in the morning. Closer to cirencester cathredal and shopping area Cons - Staff no engagement. Arrogant response. You literally have to ask for everything Spoon , fork , knife , sugar , napkin. You ask for toastie you will get that ...but you still have to request fork , knife , napkin all . May be its students working there so you can see that whatever attitude . Pastry is very sticky. Croissant not great. Bathroom design is awful. And its disgusting. Over all - Its a coffee shop where staff serve you with bit attitude. If you want a coffee and chat yes ...its a good place .

The waitresses were friendly and polite. They made a lovely caramel (sugar-free syrup!) Latte. Very comfortable place to relax with a nice hot drink. Highly recommend!

The coffee shop itself is very cosy and there's plenty of seats available even during weekends. The staff is adorable and efficient. The drinks are good but I'm not a big fan of their cakes unfortunately. But it's a nice coffee shop to have a little drink during all seasons. Special mention to the hot apple juice with a bit of whipped cream on time, it's very good during autumn!

No good customer service. Wanted to split a piece of cake with my children. Me: "Can I have the salted caramel slice, but could you please cut it up in three equal sides." Response:"Or I could give you a knife and you can" Me:"okay then" Then I had to ask for the extra plates and forks. Inconsiderate staff

The best cappuccino in town a dog friendly place with very good service and friendly staff and nice comfy seats to eat and drink and people watch.

It's a nice place but I sat in and my coffee was in a card board cup and my cheese toasty was in a paper bag I expected it to be in a cup and on a plate

Nice central coffeeshop. They have a good selection of teas and coffees as well as cakes, pastries and lunch time food. When I went there was plenty of seating, even for a larger group (there were 7 of us). Service was quite quick and the coffee tasted good. The prices are average for a coffee shop. It has a chain feel about it so if you are looking for a quaint and intimate coffee shop then this wouldn't be for you.

Always good coffee and the Portuguese tarts were very nice. Comfy seats and a good location. Will be back next time we are in Cirencester.

Awful, just awful. Painfully slow service and got the wrong order...staff weren't to bothered so I'm guessing it's a regular thing.

What a great little find. This place is separate and apart from the main brand coffee shops such as Costa and Nero etc. but sells lovely coffee products and serves tasty hot and cold food. The environment I'd comfortable and the staff are welcoming, so whether your tourism exploring or simply shopping pop in for a brew you won't be disappointed.

I generally like the place. It’s comfy the drinks and food are ok, but lately there are too many issues. Not taking cards, just cash, and randomly closed. Today at 10:50 am they were closed no explanation whatsoever!

When I visit Cirencester, I always have my coffee at #1. It is consistently good, clean and friendly.

The last three times I’ve tried to get a coffee there the coffee machine has broken down or the card machine doesn’t work so it’s cash only - which is very frustrating. I used to go there at least once a week, but will not be returning: there are too many other coffee bars in the town that, unlike this place, operate on a professional and efficient basis.

How does it take so long to serve people with four staff on? Ah, well if three of them are busy doing nothing.....

Very dissatisfied, and disappointed with my recent visit. The most unhygienic thing was when I saw that 3 dirty jugs were left near the machine and the barista was REUSING them!!! Health hazard! The place was in absolute mess! I won’t be returning.

I came here with a few friends to get some college work done. The staff were amazing in particular a slightly older man who served me on Monday afternoon (the 17th oct) he was quick in making my drinks and had excellent customer service. Seats were comfortable and drinks good! Will be returning again

Delicious Caramel Macchiato...explained well by lovely staff member...but coffee & walnut cake was dry & not fresh. Tables were full of dirty plates & cups, I struggled to find a place to put my cup down. Staff member doing her best in a busy shop,but not supported with more staff, to the extent I didn't even want to ask her about WiFi, as she seemed so busy coping alone. Unfortunately I needed to go to the loo & it was really one of the worst I've ever seen. Having travelled throughout Asia & Africa, I felt nauseous with the smell & filthy state of the toilet. Definitely not going back, which is sad, as I'm local & love coffee & would like to support the local shops. Perhaps this is now the 'norm' with more work available than there are people willing to work in UK? Just short staffed,or poorly managed from the top? I wonder...decor was lovely, so there was a high standard at some previous time...such a disappointment. Excellent coffee tho!😄☕ Maybe take aways next time! 🤔

I have only given one star as giving no stars is not an option! Not for the first have I been stood at the counter waiting to be served, with no one ahead of me and staff have ignored me and carried on talking to each other. Today four of them were bickering about who was going to clean the toilet! I gave up in the end and just walked out! I will not be returning.

I had to wait ages to be served, coffees were cold. Customers had to clear and clean their tables before use. Toilets were dirty and flooded.

Hot chocolate was way too strong and powdery; simply too much. Just 1 lass serving, and whilst she was working flat out (a whirlwind, really, full marks to her!), she was simply juggling too many balls and things were getting dropped. As a consequence we were missing a drink and the heated food took an age to arrive. They need to look at their staffing rota or levels.

Rude staff! I’d just sat down at a seat and a member of staff told me to move. When I said there was no other available seating, she had no response and didn’t try to offer me another seat! Apparently this section (corner) was ‘closed’ (no idea why, and no coherent explanation was offered for this). At the moment I’d sat down there was no other available seating. I’d not been made aware of this when I bought my drink. Very disappointing and needless to say I won’t set foot in this place again. I’m sure the establishment will have a raft of excuses for this but at the end of the day you need to be polite and reasonable with customers. I’m normally a very generous reviewer but this upset me. Go to Toro lounge, they’re friendly and helpful there.

It's a Coffee#1, the usual decent coffee and cakes, half decent WiFi etc etc I am used to. But there are plenty of other coffee shops in town that offer a much better coffee and cakes, and a warmer welcome.

Had a breakfast stop here on a long journey. The menu choices were great with something for everyone, cakes looked amazing! There was wide drinks choice with some different things including a beetroot latie. Cafe was really clean and had a lovely feel about it. When the food came it was hot, fresh and well prepared.

Rather disappointed by service. Sold us a round of coffees and cakes to eat in. Then told us that no seating was available and transferred everything to take out containers. Made no effort to find us or clear a table. Coffees cold by the time we found somewhere to drink them!

It's pretty typical of a coffee#1 nice coffee and cakes and friendly staff. Decoration inside is pretty basic for the chain, but has a nice atmosphere to it.

Excellent cappuccino, probably the strongest coffee I have had in quite a while. Lovely surroundings and even supplied a bag of used ground coffee for the garden compost.
