Seven Days Chinese Restaurant is a great place for a delicious, authentic meal The private rooms are perfect for enjoying your meal undisturbed, and the service is attentive and friendly. I randomly asked for Chinese tea during my meal*not sure if it was standard—but they brought out a lovely teapot, ready for me to share with my friend. It’s these thoughtful touches that make dining here such a pleasant experience. Highly recommended!

Visited on recommendation and tried some traditional Sichuan dishes. Though they tasted good, they're far from being authentic. Other than that, was a nice convenient place to have a meal.

I heard many good things about the food and restaurant in general previously. When we arrived I was surprised to say the least. Rude unfriendly waitresses, it was as if we were bothering them finishing up a busy period. The service was awful, it definitely made for a bad experience. Even the food pretty mediocre and slow to serve, didn’t match description on menu and looked nothing like some dishes Kim the menu itself. Giving 2 stars is being overly generous! Extremely disappointed, would have spent more and ordered more but was annoyed and frustrated. Just wanted to eat and go.

I am sorry to say that Seven Days is not what it was. When it first opened it served some of the best Sichuanese food in the city and also offered intriguing North East (Dongbei) dishes you couldn't find anywhere else; the menu is still vast but, in the wake of the pandemic, prices have increased and quality has declined. On my most recent visit the 'four seasons' aubergine and green beans was bland and tasteless, while the ma po tofu was abrasively salty and lacked the balance between potent heat and almost citrus fragrance which characterise the best renditions of the dish. A bill for £31.50 for aubergines, green beans, tofu, bean sauce and rice also came as a nasty shock. If you are looking for good Sichuanese and Dongbei food in Cambridge, I now recommend Fu on Norfolk Street, where portions are generous, service is efficient and courteous, and the food is flavourful and robust; it doesn't quite compare with Seven Days in its pomp, but it is a reminder of better times. I last ate here on a Wednesday, so perhaps the understudy was at the stove, but I can't say I'm likely to be returning.

We used to be regulars at this restaurant until the food hit a prolonged bad patch about three years ago. A view shared by several of our Chinese friends who had also stopped going. We finally gave it a second chance recently and, in short, the food is back to its shimmering best. Two further visits swiftly followed and all dishes were a delight. This is good news because, amongst the local restaurants serving authentic Chinese cuisine, it has better decor and style.

The food didn't match any of the pictures on the menu and was on the expensive side. The crispy duck was minced duck and tasted very unfresh...

Seven days seems to be a top choice for those craving delicious Chinese cuisine.

There are many Chinese restaurants where Westerners come to dine, and the space is suitable for gatherings.

Completely disappointing. I used to come here and never again. Food has become very average although prices has gone up, I had better cheaper takeaway! Toilet disgusting! Drinks in the can but they don't provide glasses or even plates!!!! I requested plates and they said didn't have??? BAD REALLY BAD

The food was disgusting and overpriced, feeling they could just steal my money but they still served me bad tasting food. Very disappointing from this shop, and some parts was the flavours tasting difficult to describe, and the food was overly cooked, with some unknown hair in it, told them and they apparently swapped it but still served me the same one just taking the hair out.

Authentic high quality , generous portions and quite possibly the best fish soup dish I have ever had !

Très décevant, À cambridge pour le travails, nous décidons avec mon collègue d'aller dans ce restaurant, car nous aimons tout deux la cuisine chinoise. Les délais d'attente sont très longs, passe encore. Mais qu'elle ne fut pas notre surprise quand au lieux du poulet dans le plat de mon collègue nous avons des crevettes... de plus les nouilles qui sont pourtant très bonne sont en quantité plus que limité.... Nous sortons déçu avec encore faim. Et aucun geste commercial. Rien à voir avec les chinois à volonté en France. Bref, je déconseille fortement cet endroit.

The receptionist (a young man who only responds in Cantonese and English and mocked when I checked any vegan unfriendly base material)should be a bit politer and more patient to any woman who dine in alone.

We love coming to Seven Days. Lovely authentic food. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Cambridge. However portion sizes ok takeout are much smaller than if you were eating int he restaurant cut the prices are the same. We’ve ordered a portion of vegetable £12.95 and we got less than 1/3 of the container full. Very disappointed. We won’t be ordering takeout from here again.

Absolutely awful. The place is dirty and sticky with grubby menus. The food offer is all over the place inside food stained menus. We ordered large glass red wine which was off. Like bad. We changed it and the manager said “but you still have to pay for the red wine”, which we did. The Dim Sum were plastic tasting. The Beef Chow Mein was greasy and the Hot and Sour Soup was just tasteless. The whole place needs a good clean and the staff taught some service value and training on wine storage ..

I recently returned to Seven Days after two years away from Cambridge and found the food just as good as before--some of the best authentic Chinese food I've had in the UK. Also the service as I experienced it was excellent (although I had an early dinner when they weren't very busy). Some of the complaints below involve service lapses I didn't experience, but some involve mistaking this for a Chinese restaurant that serves Britishized or Americanized Chinese food. It's not that. While I was there, a couple came in, were seated, looked at the menu, asked their waiter for "chow mein," were told that wasn't on offer, looked puzzled, and then walked out. Don't be that couple. Experiment with wonderful dishes you won't easily find elsewhere.

Very authentic Chinese food. And if you like spicy stuff, they do really good dishes.

Fantastic food! I ordered crispy duck, green beans with minced pork and chilli, and boiled rice and a glass of white wine. A lovely meal before business the next day.

We arrived late (around 10pm) and this was one of the only few restaurant open. The food was very good though. The materials used were good. Definitely recommend.

We have eaten here a number of times previously without complaint. Nothing special but could be relied on to serve reasonably authentic Chinese food quickly. The restaurant was very quiet at around 8pm on a Thursday and we were sat immediately, drinks brought quickly and order taken. That’s where it ended. A table of eight Chinese customers arrived 10 minutes later and from then in we were ignored. After asking the waiter twice in 30 minutes when our food would be served we walked out as the table of eight were happily eating their dinner. We won’t be back.

Terrible food, the restaurant does not live up to its fame, overpriced, the service was appalling. This is supposedly Stephen Hawkins favourite dish - it was truly terrible

Not good with sichuan dishes. yangzou fried rice - 7.5/10, good braised beef in tomato sauce - 9/10, sweet and savoury, good tomatoes. meltingly soft beef. tendons! Nice coriander taste. Normally not a fan of sweet tomato flavours beef sirloin slices stir fried - 8.5/10, very tender cuttlefish stir fry - 8.75/10, cold cucumber salad taste. saucy, savoury, oil rich. Good portion. fish in pickled greens - 8/10, interesting flavour, sour kung pao chicken - 9/10, spicy, saucy. Good sichuan kick. far cry from the sweet kind you'll get elsewhere. recommend.

We had an evening in Cambridge and decided to have a meal out . We went to the seven days and was seated quickly . We sat for around 20mins no one came to take our drinks or food order , we had to say to a member of staff that we were ready to order !the drinks came out quickly . Our food on the other hand was something else ! Our noodles came out first so we sat and thought lovely the rest will follow , we waited and waited , started to eat the now cold noodles! Still the rest of the order hadn’t arrived ! 15 mins later one dish and out rice came , still awaiting the other 2 mains dishes ! Same again , our rice got cold waiting … 20 mins still no more of the food came . Service what service it was absolutely disgusting. At this point we got up and walked to the lady at the front of the restaurant. I said we were appalled at the service and was leaving , she didn’t even lift her head to acknowledge me ! SO RUDE . I paid for the drinks we had . Fair to say we won’t be returning . On the plus side we walked and went into Charlie Chans restaurant wow what a different , was welcomed and food was quick and hot . Go there not SEVENDAYS !!

Literally the WORST attitude towards customers in any restaurants I've ever visited. Been there a few times and every single time I was surprised by how rude the reception lady treated their customers. And the worst karaoke, too! Last time we ordered a few cans of coke which didn't arrive halfway through the meal, so we asked the reception lady about this. And the reply was "oh huh? who did you order with? I can't see anything here" with a loud voice and extremely annoyed, impatient face, no apology. Yeah we definitely ordered them with some random people in your restaurant, not with the staff. Just been there for my last time ever a few days ago. We booked a karaoke room for celebration. When we asked the reception lady and gave her our details, she couldn't find the info and again the reply was "what room did you book? who did you book with? I can't find anything on my book, did you really book?" surely we should know who was on the other side of a phone call and which room we would be allocated for. And after a while she found the info on some other pages, and was extremely annoyed, like it was our fault, without any apologizing words. And I haven't mentioned the karaoke system was the worst I've ever used. There are only 600 songs in their device locally. Want other songs? No problem, download it using their 100 kb/s internet and it will just take you about 30 minutes per song. Getting yelled at, bad system, bad sound quality, constantly not working microphone, this is just amazing for some karaoke celebrations. And they would charge you £80 per hour for this, amazing! So if you want to get yelled at for paying for food, go to this place, because the reception lady there will never disappoint you.

Highly recommended. This place is great! I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints, if you know what to order. The best things are the green beans with mince, fish in hot chilli oil, and braised aubergine. The duck pancakes appetiser is also really good.

We really enjoyed ourmeal at Seven Days. The food was both interesting and well prepared: pork intestines, squid tentacles with Szechuan pepper, aubergine and green beans, deep fried prawn with tea, and smoked pork with lotus buns all excellent. I love the fact that the menu contains such a range of authentic chinese food.

A small bowl of rice £3.5 ? Boiled meat is closer to £20? And plus 10% service fee? I was sitting in a place near the back door. I hadn't eaten a third of my food, and all my dishes were cold. There are so many good Chinese restaurant with good tastes and price nearby. Why am I here???

The food is alright but the service is questionable

Besides the lovely food, we appreciate their service. They incorrectly gave us our order and we said we're fine with it but instead of just updating the invoice, they still gave us our order free of charge. It might have been the expected outcome but that doesn't happen all the time. So, thank you.

They offer karaoke on the second floor! It’s about 60£ per hour.

I went here with my family and we had a room for 7 people. The food was really great and as a Chinese person I knew they didnt take any shortcuts with regards to quality ingredients Will definitely visit again! Cheers Terry

This was the worse Chinese meal I have ever eaten Horrendous. Food came out bit by bit and just soaked in oil floating to the top. Screaming and shouting from the manager. Throwing the food down at us as though we shouldn’t have been there....

Wer nordchinesische Szechuan-Küche liebt ist hier richtig. Die Speisen sind stark gewürzt, vielfach mit Szechuan-Pfeffer, einer den Mund betäuben den Pflanzenblüte. Der Blumenkohl mit Szechuan-Pfeffer und der Rindfleischtopf mit eben diesem Pfeffer waren köstlich.

Very genuine Chinese food. The food was delicious. Parts of the rice I had was overcooked. The restaurant can be very packed, you could be sitting right next to other customers. The waiting time for the food could be very long. Pre-booking is definitely advised.

I went for Lunch twice. The place was clean, and the waitress are polite and serves you well. I ate aubergine in fish sauce, but it was very oily. Generally quite pricy for what it serves (10 pounds per dish). I had a bit of hard time communicating with the waitress because she only spoke Mandarin. It is a convenient location, and I had a good experience here, but I wouldn't particularly advocate for this restaurant.

I always love food here. My favourite is spicy chicken wing which is served with lots of chillies. The seasons are marinated very well and give so much flavour. Others are nice too. Good place to eat in and sharing with family and friends

Poor service - ordered beef and noodles, the beef was cold by the time the noodles came (the wrong ones), plastic fork, ordered water which never came, oily food that gave me a stomach ache that night.

We visited early evening to an empty restaurant, what seemed like three members of staff in there all shrieking loudly with what seemed their mates. We asked for a table, sat down and were given menus. We waited for the noise to calm down but it didn’t! So after about ten minutes we explained it wasn’t a great environment to dine in and that we did have to leave. I was going to say I had taken a message and that was why we had to go but thought they might appreciate the feedback. They just laughed at us and we left. How are these guys in business?

Food was mediocre with all dishes that we ordered being too salty; waitress was indifferent as when we requested for hot water we got cold water and when we politely asked to be seated further indoors they were reluctant to fulfill our request

My boyfriend and I eat here very often, especially during weekday lunches when the dim sum menu is available (around 12.30-5pm on weekdays) and there is a good-value lunch meal deal as well. The food is very authentic, the dim sum is good quality, and the main dishes are very large and easy to share with a group. The menu can be daunting because it is so large, but there are many great options, especially if you like spicy food. The value is good because the dishes are so large that you don't need to order many for a group, we often go with other people and share.

Excelente dim sum y excelente servicio amigable, también muy complaciente, cierto dim sum solo tiene 3 albóndigas, ya que éramos 4, pregunté si podían agregar uno adicional y lo hicieron, estaba feliz de pagar un poco más que pedir otro solo para alimentar a la 4ª persona

Food was mediocre and in some cases actual presentation differed from what was in the menu. Service was slow and intermittent. Despite notices in the restaurant and on line about informing staff of any food allergies etc they seemed totally ignorant when it came to implementation. Patrons with gluten or allergies issues should be very wary. Cleanliness in some areas could be better.

My wife's from Chongqing and we have eaten sichuan food all over the world. Yet this place just a few miles from our home in Peterborough has yet to be knocked off it's top spot as the most authentic sichuan food restaurant we have come across outside of china. It's truly outstanding!

Arrivées vers 20h, moyennement bien accueillies. La carte propose un nombre incalculable de plats (quid de la fraîcheur des ingrédients...?).

昨天，因為來到劍橋用餐。就在當地網站找了這間餐廳。透過表妹訂位，訂了16人的位置。到現場的時候，這位女櫃檯服務員告訴我說，只訂了13位。但是可以幫我們安排16個座位，提醒我們以後要提前說（但我們訂的是16個座位啊）。接著因為跟我們一起用餐裡，有一位洋女婿比較晚到。因此洋女婿跟表妹兩人最後另外點餐。因為老外的習慣要自己買單，所以在結帳時要求該女櫃檯服務員，需要將最後這四道菜分帳。她問我最後點了什麼，因為我也不知道洋妹婿跟表妹吃了什麼，就請她現場可以去確認。這時候就看到一個氣沖沖的模樣開始往菜梯口的出菜單一張一張翻找，然後又說「如果需要分帳可以提前跟我們說」，當然，如果可以我也會先說。但就是洋女婿不願意讓大家請，也只好請店家幫忙協助。該女店員可能是不夠專業，或是情緒控管不佳，以至於在我面前罵了一聲Fuck（極度清楚，沒有要遮掩的意思）。餐廳清潔度不佳。廁所不乾淨。餐廳牆面有蜘蛛網。要求將空調打開。兩次都沒收到回應。菜色的部分還可以。

The fact that this place was full of oriental people thoroughly enjoying their meal was a great sign of somewhere rather special.

This restaurant looks a little tired and scruffy but the food is excellent. The wine list is very limited but quite ok. The service is rather odd, sometimes friendly and with sometimes not. The service was also very slow, however I must exclude from the the efficient waiter who brought the food from the kitchen. The menu is extensive and everything that we had was first class.

Was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint me. Service was good but the food was amazingly tasty. Its a shame I I'm don't live closer but if I'm ever visiting Cambridge again then I would definitely be back. 100% recommend this restaurant!

This is some of the most authentic Chinese food I have ever had in Cambridge. The amount of choice in the menu made the decision making extra hard with frogs' legs and pigs trotters on offer alongside Stephen Hawking's favourite potato and chilli dish.

Wickedly fun menu, all sorts of different dishes, great for anyone adventurous with food. The pig trotter in chilli is fantastic, and the best ma po tofu I've ever eaten. Come with a big group of friends and order a bunch of dishes, it's great.

Do not visit this restaurant if you want an 'English' Chinese restaurant. It is really authentic, down to the staff not speaking good English and unrecognizable food from the menu. However, the food is very good, if you know what you're ordering! That's why the restaurant is FULL of Chinese diners. (It does come across that the waiters would prefer if you were of Chinese descent though) :-)
