An absolute gem of a place, great food vibes and friendly staff. Walk in of a table of 6 took us right away made us feel at home, had the bbq and the others had the hot pot, the expirence alone was worth the price but the quality of the meat was absolutely stellar! Will be thinking of this place for years to come!

Crispy deep fried prawns were just like the ones you get from supermarkets. Deep frozen, quite small but with tails on. I found the food quite expensive. I did eat it all and especially loved the pickle on the side. Drinks very expensive I found. Was going to Theatre afterwards so a useful stopping off point . Service was excellent, place Is clean and buzzers on tables when you are ready to order. Good portion of K Pop on TV quite enjoyable.

It was the kimchi stew I ate after a month in the UK, and the taste reminded me of the kimchi stew I ate at the airport on the day of my departure. All the Korean food I tried in Birmingham felt subtly different from the food I ate in Korea, but this is not the case at all. The chicken seemed to taste like traditional seasoned chicken. The kimchi pancake was also crispy and delicious.

Overpriced for what you get. A lot of smoke, fire alarm went, clothes will smell of greasy smoke afterwards. Food was ok but not in anyway memorable. £8 service charge on a £70 meal enough for 2. I'd give 3.5 stars if bill was £50 and below but not £70. Go to Chinatown instead.

Food was really nice I’m not going to lie, was nice but my j2o was clearly out of date in June it now being September. Said I’m the neck of the bottle 14th June. To then receive an apology and a complimentary drink. I was polite and kind as I work in hospitality my self. To then when coming to pay to be told that “the date is when it was made” this is a LIE that’s not how it works. The date on the bottle is expiration it even says on the j20 website. She then charged me for my drink which they gave me for FREE and then further charged a £13 tip. The food was nice but this issue has made this establishment absolutely foul and despicable…recommend not to come as you’ll end up with a bad tummy from out of date soft drink or maybe other things!

As someone who takes on the principle of price to value I will just say that the food is terribly priced. Service is good but quality to price just doesn't make sense. Maybe I am not a fan of asian cuisines but kimchi to me is several centuries outdated as a recipe.

Go hungry! We were tempted to get a BBQ combo but were advised by the very helpful waitress that would be too much for two, which it would have been. We received a mountain of meat to cook in the individual cookers set into the table. Be aware, "Garlic salad" means a dish of garlic cloves and "spring onion salad" means shredded spring onions in a hot sauce.

Comparing this to any other hot pot i’ve been to… I can confidently say this was a disappointing experience. Me and my friend were shocked by the prices on the menu (£54-60) - which makes complete sense for a party of 3-5 people but we were a party of 2 so this did not make sense. You also couldn’t swap specific food items off the bbq or hot pot set list which was inconvenient as my friend has a food allergy so that whittled down our options. It felt scammy in all honesty as the food included in the hot pot (tesco-style ramen, spam, processed cheese, sausage links) did not match up to the given price of £54. Although the waiter was nice enough, there was barely any service or explanation to how the hot pot worked until we asked for further instruction. The cherry on top was the mandatory service charge of £8 when we got the bill. We asked to take it off due to there barely being any service but according to the server it was mandatory unless we paid cash… After discussing this for a couple of minutes he finally took it off. Unfortunately won’t be visiting again.

We were very disappointed. Upon arrival, the prices were much higher than we anticipated, and the restaurant's ambiance didn't quite match the price point. As first-time hot pot diners, we were surprised that the waiter didn't offer any guidance on how to cook the food. While the food itself was decent, it certainly wasn't worth £54. To make matters worse, when we received the bill, there was an £8 service charge. Since the service was minimal at best, we requested its removal. The waiter initially claimed it was mandatory due to company policy, which is incorrect. Service charges are optional in the UK. After a brief discussion, the waiter eventually removed the charge, but the manager was nowhere to be seen throughout the entire interaction. Overall, we found the experience to be unprofessional and lacking in service. We will not be returning here!!

Really really poor experience, the waiters are absolutely awful. They first forgot we made a reservation for 6 and gave us a table of 4 in the corner which we couldn't fit. Tried to order food but they didn't come to take our order for 20mins. We made our order but it was incorrect. Asked for tap water three times and we never got it in the end. No service for changing the bbq place either, it was completely burnt by the end of it. We asked for the service charged to be removed from the bill (the group in front of us also asked for the same), but they said this cannot be done. The waiter was counting the cash for 10mins, he couldn't count it so that also took forever. I will never come back to this restaurant and i will definitely not recommend it - you will spend over half the time waiting for things that won't come. Poor experience!

Came in this evening, came to this Korean BBQ last year so my expectation was set high as last time the experience was awesome. Food is affordable affordable a wide variety of dishes. I normally just go with the BBQ set and it is very manageable between 3 people or atleast 2 very hungry people. I always get a side of Kimchii and here it is very good, not a massive kick but it compliments the food nicely. Soju is more expensive then I've seen in other places but getting 20% off for bringing cash softens the blow. Excellent food all around. Shout out to the bloke working the till handled all the tables by himself and still was very attentive to the heat levels and tray conditions as the night progressed. Few words but very much present.

We went here because I wanted to try the Korean-style of BBQing at the table with the built-in hot plate thing, and it was in a good location so, why not here? Nice big space, we were taken to the table we reserved via Google. When we sat down, we were already quite astonished at the pricing on the menu which then set the tone for the rest of the meal. £5 for a bottle of water, £5 for a bottle of Asahi, £4 for a can of coke. Fair enough if that was to make up the cost of the food itself, but the bulgogi I went on to order was a whopping £16. And that was just the meat, rice was additional. And the meat itself, thinly sliced Beef Brisket, had potential to be amazing. It was pretty soft once cooked with the fat rendered nicely, but that's about the extent of positivity I can give it. It was presented on a long plate because, fair enough, there was loads of it. But when you picked it up to put it on the BBQ, you could feel it was still a little frosty from where that had been an attempt to properly defrost it. Unfortunately, while my friend's chicken was seasoned, my beef was not. So was literally just part still-frozen beef cooked in nothing. We were given very small pots of a BBQ paste and sesame oil which were nice, but there was far too little of it. We would've got more but the bell thing given to us to request service was only answered about 50% of the time. So on I trudged through completely bland beef and plain rice. And paid a 10% service charge for the pleasure of it which I guess covers the energy cost of the freezer. The one redeeming aspect was that the chicken I tasted seemed decent, and the lady that served us on our way out was very polite.

Didn't intend eating here but when we saw a lot of Korean folk walking in/eating, we guessed the Korean food must be genuine and decent! (we spoke to large Korean group who where just entering - to understand how they felt about the place etc.). And we were not disappointed! The pre cooked food is tasty and the BBQ option, which you cook yourself in a small gas BBQ, sunk into the middle of the table, is a great way to eat dinner whilst being a source of entertainment. I'd also like to put a shout out to the young lady who helped us understand what to order and how to cook and eat the food in an authentic manner. Thanks!

It’s not something Koreans do.. Living in the UK, I gave up my expectations about food a long time ago, but ‘No…’ Selling this for money... It was like, ‘?’ My friend and I ordered several, but we had almost all of them left haha. First of all, never eat Jjajangmyeon. It's worse than the meal kits sold at Korean supermarkets. really… I left a review because I was angry... If you come to the UK, just eat fish and chips or chicken tikka masala... The Dolsot bibimbap kind is worth eating, but it is very greasy and is just plated in a stone pot, so don't expect Korean Dolsot Bibimbap.

First time trying Korean BBQ and it was a ton of fun and absolutely delicious. I went with 2 others (though 1 wasn’t eating much) and left very full and satisfied. We paid around £50 for a beef and pork BBQ set which we shared between 2. A couple of pieces of meat where left behind, so a set could feed 3-4 well when shared (we where very stuffed by the end). A good price for the quantity and quality of meat in my opinion. The marinated beef and pork where defiantly the highlight, the marinade was perfectly spiced and tasted amazing when cooked. Cooking the meat on the grill was very fun, and sharing meat between each other is a lovely group activity. They also offer some harder to find asian drinks, such as my sister’s favourite aloe vera flavoured drink. We went during an extremely quite time but didn’t feel unwelcome, with the server being very kind. They also swapped out the cooking grill, when it became covered in cooked fat, for a clean grill. Though you would have to wait for the grill to heat up again. The sauces and salads that came with the BBQ set was refreshing and flavourful. Personally I used the sauces religiously on the un-marinaded pork. It may be out of the way, however the whole experience was very nice and I would love to go again when I get the opportunity.

The restaurant was great, and I liked how you could grill your own meat. To be honest, the meat tray was too small, and we must have bought two to use the BBQ utensils. And it was still insufficient for both of us. They tasted great, and the presentation was extremely appealing. We requested cheesecake at the end before they closed the restaurant, but they didn't bring it since they couldn't take orders because the casa was closed. Because the plates were a little small, the service needs to be better in comparison to the price per dish.

The Korean barbecue tastes good. I ordered soy sauce pork bulgogi and soy sauce chicken bulgogi. Both meats were marinated deliciously. During the grilling process, the grill plate became burnt, the staff proactively replaced it, so I had a positive experience. I also ordered Soondubu-jjijae, which was described as soft tofu with seafood and vegetables. However, besides two small clams, I couldn't find any other seafood, and there were only a few slices of cucumber for vegetables. It cost £16.2, plus a 10% service charge, but having only two clams as ingredients was really unacceptable. Although the taste of the soup was decent. Additionally, I ordered Chicken Dolsot Bibimbap, but the sauce didn't complement it well, and the taste wasn't great. Overall, the experience was average, and the only appealing aspect was the Korean barbecue.

The food was good. A group of 5 of us shared 2 £50 platters between us, which we cooked on the table grills. The only thing that lets the place down is the service. The staff could do with training in hosting. It would also benefit customers to ask if they have been before as to get service you have to press a button on a table. Unfortunately, the buttons don't say press for service, and even after making eye contact and smiling, they didn't think to come over. The one button was broken on the table but we didn't know that until we pressed one on another table then we heard a buzzer and they came straight away. It was also £4.80 for a 330ml beer. I would recommend Topokki by the arcadian instead.

My friends and I booked a table for dinner lastnight at Seoul Kitchen, it was my second time dining at the restaurant and went in with great expectations. The food was great, nothing shy of amazing! The worst thing about the night was the service, we waited over 20 minutes for our first drink and had to ask multiple times for our bill. When paying, a blonde lady who was working there claimed that the service charge on the receipt was a company policy and we had to pay it. We hadn’t been told this before we dined, but we also knew that this was a load of rubbish. I explained to her that legally I don’t have to if I’m not satisfied with the service, to which she said there was nothing she could do to remove it, when her payment machine allows you to enter your own amount! We asked to see evidence of their company policy, she said she didn’t know it. We asked to speak to management, she said they were in a meeting at 8pm, laughable. She then gave us a piece of paper with their VAT number saying that if we pay the service charge, we can claim it back. Again, laughable. I asked to speak to a different member of staff and she claimed they were all new staff and in training, when I already recognised one of the staff from my previous visit. I took it upon myself to speak to another staff member who told me there WAS a manager there. Luckily we were able to get the fee refunded, but the management couldn’t have cared less about his staffs unprofessionalism. It’s sad to say that I definitely won’t be returning, and would advise everyone I know not to either.

Visited here for the first time a couple of days ago. We chose a few meats to BBQ plus a couple of sides and other dishes. The duck and rib eye steak were really nice, but we didn’t like the soy sauce chicken (it had a rubbery texture). Our favourite dish was the Korean spicy fried chicken breast (even though we didn’t find it that spicy) and the kimchi was good too. The staff were welcoming and friendly and frequently switched out the cooking plate for a fresh one to stop the food from sticking. Overall it was good and a nice experience that we would recommend trying.

I have been to every single Korean food restaurant in Birmingham and this one was my least favourite and it's not even close. We got two bbq meats (spicy pork and beef brisket) kimchi jeon, and complimentary sides to the bbq. Both the meats had good texture which is about the only positive thing I can say about this. "Spicy" pork? Yeah right. The marinade was almost non-existent. What makes it Korean or spicy? Who knows. In most Korean places you can eat the meat without the extra sauce they give you and still feel the sweet spicy flavor but here if that's what you were looking for you will taste close to nothing without the extra sauce provided. Kimchi pancake - flavorless. Absolutely flavorless. Weird cause we got kimchi as a side and it packed a lot of flavor. Soy sauce they provide is good, dipped some beef in it and it was tasty. Place is fine, I appreciate the service ring on each table. Staff is trying their best although a bit clumsy. I also commend for changing the grills :). One star overall because the prices are so abhorrent compared to the rest of the korean restaurants you'd think they'd serve better quality. It's solely to express my extreme disappointment with how of a let-down this experience was. My partner and I are big fans of Korean food and we were looking forward to this place a lot. Dumbest thing of them all? We didn't even get any chopsticks. Guess cause we're not Asian? Very weird to give chopsticks to everyone in the restaurant but not to us. Usually they bring you both forks and chopsticks or you can ask for forks but no Asian restaurant I've ever been in gives fork as a primary option. I didn't say anything cause I was just mentally checked out at that point. Please try and pick up thin beef brisket with a fork and see how fun it is. Very weird experience. Not coming back if it's up to me. I recommend you save yourself the money and just go to another.

Poor service , staff didnt seem know how to use till, expensive and first time here wasnt shown how to enjoy experience, or recommended dishes, ordered bbq service , found meat flavourless, no seasoning options just the seasoning they provide mainly sesame oil tasting, even curry was heavily tasting of sesame oil.

A little bit of Korean food in Birmingham. I like the service button located on the tables. Makes it a lot easier to get service attention. Not that you need it as they are very attentive. The meat options tasted good. I personally prefer the marinated meats than regular though. Try the dumplings and glass noodle pasta with your bbq. Definitely check this place out!

We tried the Korean bbq , seafood pancake and spicy rice cake. Fair price with fair portions. The service was not bad. The bbq chicken is more delicious than the beef. Seafood pancake is yummy. Kids love it. The rice cake is not soft enough but like the spicy. We did not order the BBQ set because it looks more expensive than order seperately and the side dishes are not very attractive. I would recommend the price of bbq sets offered can be more low and valuable.

Some top notch Korean bbq - all the dishes were great and decent portions. The service was excellent, with assistance for changing the grill plates and cooking the meat to perfection. I would recommend the bbq sets offered as they're good value for money.

Second time at Seoul Kitchen for dinner. We ordered from their menu, food was lovely. But the problem came with the bill. We noticed that a 20% VAT charge was added to our total amount. We thoroughly checked the menu over and over again to see whether it was stated that the prices listed were excluding VAT, but the menus had no such wording. We queried this with the two waitors, and they said it's because of rise in costs that's why the owner has added this 20% VAT at the end of the bill. We understand the rise in costs, but that's not the appropriate way to charge customers more. We were not allowed to go unless we paid. The waitors said we can talk to the owner and get our 20% back. We have had no luck getting in touch with anyone in charge and they are refusing to refund us the extra 20%. The table behind us on the night was also charged the 20% VAT and refused to pay. Owners and managers there are not sincere, and will lie and play you for a fool. Avoid.

Very short of staff. Felt bad for the lady with short hair she is overworked serving all the tables in the restaurant by herself . We had to go up to the till and got stuff ourselves. Food is average.

Absolutely delicious. Can't recall what we ordered but it was excellent enough to mentally file in 'places worth returning to' Small gripe. I'm not a fan of K Pop especially when it's loud to the point of intrusive. However the great food trumps this.

Really good food. BBQ is a bit overpriced in my opinion but the Army stew was so filling and amazing. Overall great experience.

(This review is coming from someone who has eaten samgyup in Korea.) The service here was good, and the place was clean and spacious. We ordered the meat Set A. The meat portions were a lot and worth the price. My only comment was that the pork wasn’t that good. The Korean pancake was tasty and the serving was big. If you’re really after eating authentic Korean food, I don’t think this would be the place. But if you’re not that picky and just want to eat Korean food in general, then this place would satisfy your cravings.

You get 90 minutes bottomless brunch, we were there 30 minutes before we got a drink or any food. The pizza was shocking, like the cheapest you could get from any supermarket value range my friend paid an extra £10 to have cocktails and managed to get 2 in 90 minutes! You are literally paying for the name. Can not hear each other as music was so loud also, terrible place 0/10 not wotlrth the money when ther are so many places in Birmingham doing bottomless brunch for same price all hand made and extras.
