Jawad Fish & Chips in Birmingham

(Note: Jawad fish and chips were closed for 2 months to change its name to Charlie 2 and style to make foods delicious) I went to Jawad Fish and Chips before, Service is okay but it takes like 6 minutes sometimes, the food is tasty, the atmosphere is alright though

The cod and chip at Jawads are defo the best in the area. Always fried fresh, and the chips are lovely. With very generous portions. If the place was just given a bit of a tidy up, and made to look a little more clean and inviting, it would be even better. Alot of people might be avoiding this place due to first impressions.

Worst place to eat u want to get food poisoning or be I’ll then don’t go here the food is cold wet sloppy and mingling not even cooked I don’t know how they get away with it it’s a Joke place needs shutting down it’s a disappointment not on the menu it’s cooked right or proper go some were eles stay well away from this place it’s been like it for Years

Terrible food,meat is stale dry and smelly,fries fried in old oil,shop inside is dirty and personnel is surly,I do not recommend!

The taste is good same like i just left in Pakistan.... After having meal deal from you just in a first bite feel likes home taste 😉

Top place nice chippy and I'd bet you won't find cheaper. Lovely fish only sources and sell cod, nothing else. Last thing the owner/manager nice chap - RECOMMENDED.

Chips could be better crispy an more dryer not to oily as you can smell it. Your small fish not to bad as i mention before like mine crispy an fresh taste. My kids like the burgers from there.

Absolutely distusging and filthy inside during a pandemic too. The workers are lazy liars. The wait is not worth the food.

Really good service, was willing to make a order when the shop shutter was down. Must try the the masala fish and nan. Crispy, succulent and soft with a hint of lemon. Not like typical masala fish. Very reasonably priced. Good choice of small mixed selections also £5, £7 and £9. Only down side is closes early. But if you call earlier they will cater.

DO NOT GO! Visited here as I was in the area. Went in and they had one cod fish in the heater area on display from which they serve, amongst sausages etc. It was HALF the size as the usual cod you can expect. Obnoxious young teen on the till assured me it was fresh, which cannot have been the case because they just opened. Asked if he would charge me £3.50 usual price if I went ahead for mini cod and chips and he said he would, as he advised if was fresh and could not negotiate on price. Said I will have masala chips instead, (image attached). He simply sprinkled masala spice on top of chips, THIS IS WRONG. SPICES MUST BE COOKED TO CONSUME, NOT RAWLY APPLIED. Young teen then had attitude with me from there on out, making sarcastic comments with the old man behind the till in Urdu, thinking I couldnt understand. Asked for scallops which he wrapped up immediately, without asking if I wanted salt and vinegar. Also, huffed and puffed when I asked for a fork. Terrible customer service, also upon research discovered they have 1 star hhygdind rating. Don't pay these scum! They don't care about you or the quality they provide, just want your money and make you feel unwelcome and as though you are troubling them. Also, learn English.

So so. Run the mill chippy. Chaotic queues, long waits. As for the food, the oil didn't get changed all that often so any fried product so taste meh. The kebab is the usual low quality processed stuff associated with the jack of all trades fast food shops.

The concept of fast food is missing. As I waited nearly 10 minutes for the food I asked for a scallop during the wait. When I finished the scallop I asked the guy to throw the paper in the bin for me. He told me he wouldn't do that. I thought this to be quite unusual.

Beware of the waiting time! Every time I have been, it took them at least 10 min to acknowledge me. Twice I have left after 20 minutes of waiting to be acknowledged. Too often the men known to the staff push right in. The staff seem very nice but serve food at ridiculous pace with little care. Called in advance few times, order was not ready and still took 20min to collect. Seriously guys, get a grip. Food is great. Chips and cod are very good but beginning to see the overall quality depreciating. Tips: Serve faster. Think Haji's in Coventry Rd. Maintain the high food quality. How about HOT chilli sauce?

This shop gets 5 stars the staff are all polite the food is top notch and they have recently had a new Cole bbq installed which I recommend the charcoal chicken with jalapeño and sweet corn salad in a nan and the prices are very good keep up the good work lads.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Really Surprising this doesn’t have lower reviews? It’s not just about the Cod Fish. Firstly the wait is totally unacceptable, they do not care about how many people are waiting and will serve as slow as they want. On two occasions I was the only person in the shop and wasn’t even acknowledged for at least 2 minutes. I shouldn’t have to speak first, I’m a paying customer, but they obviously make too much money to care. The Cod and Chips quality and taste is decent, if it wasn’t this place would have 1 Star from me. But the place has 0 Stars for Food Hygiene bear that in mind. It states urgent improvement required. Locals and Staff members friends/family always take priority. They can Phone in and get the larger fish and fresh chips unlike the rest of us. Their food is also prepared first before other people’s who have paid. They can also push through the queue and get the VIP treatment. Also staff don’t wear uniforms and don’t wear gloves during food preparation. All in all, not a huge fan. Get Fish and Chips about once a month or so because it’s local.
