Came at 7pm Friday September 27th, within opening hours as stated on the website (and Google maps), to find that it’s closed. If it’s closed during certain months of the year, they should either say on Google maps or state it on their website.

Yummy food fast serving bit loud but nice 5 stars

Best Mexican restaurant we've been to in a long while . Good food,good prices,excellent cocktails. Staff really helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

I can only think the 5star “exellent” reviews were written by rowdy youths that seem to enjoy this place. I had the chicken fajitas consisted of 5 tiny damp rubbery tortillas, a small dish of liquid avocado, diced tomatoes, an watery sour cream. The bland chicken was served on a warm skillet with soggy green peppers, onions and wait for it….. MUSHROOMS!!!. There was no seasoning or flavour, it was more like budget chicken stew. My wife a sort of chilli dish served in a odd tasting crispy tortilla dish! The steak chunks were chewy and the sauce was uninspired, Add one bottle of Desperado and one bottle of Ginger beer and it came to over £40. Avoid.

The restaurant was good if you picked the right food . Ribs and fajitas were v good , chimichanga average at best . Staff v friendly and good service . Cocktails were sensibly priced and v good . Tip the staff with cash not via a card It does stop serving at 9pm

Genuinely shocked how bad this place is. Took an hour and 45 minutes for our mains to come out (15 mins longer than our table reservation). A half muttered apology and as we were leaving the supervisor chased us out and squared up to us. I’m genuinely shocked. What the actual hell?

Very friendly staff and very helpful. Accommodated us even though we hadn’t booked and were a chef down ! Lovely welcome. The food was top of the range and all the meals we saw were outstanding. Highly recommended if you’re in Newquay!

Been to Newquay every year since 2015 and this is the first time I've tried the place. I wasn't disappointed. In fact we had quite a big meal. When we got in there was only 1 other table, but it was only 18.30! We both had starters and a main. Food came out quick & hot. I tried My fellas crayfish as it was my first time eating it, bloody lovely! And loads of it. I had jalapeño peppers, which was very nice. Then our mains came out, both had chilli burrito & twisters, far too many twisters, could cut down on the portion side for that! We both left very full and very happy. Staff were lovely too. When we left 50 mins later the place was full!

Well despite the reviews we still wanted to try this place 😁 and not disappointed either, food is fine and tasty if maybe just a little expensive but when your not cooking it's a bonous. Staff are very pleasant and cheerful and the atmosphere and music was perfect, I'll be going back.

We ate at senior Ds and the food was amazing. Fajitas and a surf and turf. They forgot to add the prawns, apologised and swiftly sorted it. Staff were really helpful and responsive.

We had the chicken wings which seemed under cooked and smothered in sauce . Cheese garlic bread was greasy . And we had steak fajitas which didn't have much flavour and the steak was chewey and the chicken fajitas also didn't have much flavour and not much chicken. For what we had we felt it was quite pricey and over priced. Very disappointed 😞

Decided as our last night we’d go out for a nice Mexican meal. Location was nice and the staff were polite. Unfortunately the food took over an hour to come and I had to chase up our meal even though it wasn’t busy. I ordered enchiladas and they were warm instead of hot the cheese hadn’t even melted properly. My partner ordered the fajitas and the chicken was bland and gristly and seemed that it was old and not fresh. The hot plate wasn’t even hot to touch as it should be. Overall a disappointing experience and the only part of it was nice was the waitress who served us was lovely even had only been working there just a couple of days. The restaurant should really think about what they are doing with their menu as it’s not very good for what you’re paying for. Also there was only the option to bottled soft drinks and non draughty. Don’t make the mistake and not read the reviews.

Been here many many times over the years with group bookings & couples booking, can't fault the friendly atmosphere, food is great. Try the hot hot sauce but becareful with it 😳🤣. Plenty beers on draught too rtc. No shortage of Cocktails. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed (may need to book though In the summer period).

A sign outside Señor Dick´s in picturesque Newquay of Cornwall boldly promises that authentic Mexican food can be enjoyed there. After recently eating dinner with my family at this place, I am beyond a doubt convinced that the kitchen staff at Señor Dick´s have never eaten authentic Mexican food and therefore haven’t a clue how it should actually look, smell or taste. In addition to not being able to synchronize the arrival of our few orders, the fish tacos and side dishes of salsa, guacamole, sour cream and tortilla chips we’d ordered tasted about as far from being home-made as Newquay is from Cancún. The chips and tortillas seemed stale and tasteless and in the rest of what we were served I was unable to recognize any herbs or spices (like cumin, cilantro or pepper) which are typically incumbent in Mexican cuisine. While not an entirely fair comparison, I think Taco Bell makes dishes that are closer to being authentic Mexican food than what was put in front of us at Señor Dick´s. I actually can’t remember when I last had a meal that was so utterly flavorless. And since this restaurant is located in the UK, a wonderful country in so many, many ways, albeit not culinarily, that’s actually quite an accomplishment. I’d wager that if I ever was given the dubious opportunity to peak into the kitchen at Señor Dick´s, I’d see at least one shelf loaded with the full range of Old El Paso products, from stacks of taco shell cartons to rows of glass jars with savorless salsa. Now, as a base or boiler plate solution, Old El Paso is just fine. But their products need a lot of TLC to be useful when making Mexican food. Would I call Señor Dick´s a fraud, a scam or even a ripoff? Well, that might be taking my disappointment a bit far. The overall service wasn’t too bad and our waitress was kind, appropriately apologetic and friendly. But to first claim that Señor Dick´s serves "authentic Mexican food” and then charge £73/€84/$93 for what was essentially off-the-shelf, prefab food, is certainly bending the Tex-Mex concept way beyond what I think is ethically acceptable. If I was the owner of Señor Dick´s, I’d immediately hire an authentic Mexican chef, pay him or her a good wage and then aim at becoming Cornwall’s premiere Mexican restaurant. Not just another Newquay pub serving pricey, unauthentic and terribly tasteless “Mexican" food.

Good quality food with large generous portions. Definitely recommended.

Probably the worst food I've ever had at a restaurant in cornwall (and maybe anywhere). Couldn't believe that I paid £16 for three tasteless, mushy tacos. I ordered the bbq jackfruit and cauliflower tacos. No hint whatsoever of bbq, instead it was this very weird and gross sweet and sour kind of sauce. The cauliflower was completely mushy. Neither tacos had any sour cream, guacamole or salsa - just a few chopped tomatoes. How on earth can that be considered Mexican food? I can make better Mexican food than that in about 10 minutes and for a fraction of the price. It was really honestly gross, and I'm normally not fussy about food as long as its flavorful and cooked well. My friends said the chicken taco was really dry and flavourless too. Trust me, do not go to this restaurant! Absolutely insane prices for literally no reason.

Awful The worst Mexican meal ever eaten The chimichanga was like a rubber flip flop! Dry, chewy chicken, no flavour, no seasoning whatsoever, we were asked if we wanted sauce, chose one, then it’s on the bill for £2.95! For a thumbnail size sauce pot, worse £80 spent on food Have to say waiter good and cocktail good though

Really expensive and the food terrible Chickens dry and chewy, food came with stuff that wasn't advertised on Some of the meals were more expensive on the bill than on the menu, recieved and paid for drinks we cancelled Some of the staff were really nice though

Wetherspoons quality food at triple the price. The burrito was a questionable paste with no identifiable features, and neither this or the taco came with any cheese or sauces.

Picture some greasy kebab van in the middle of Wigan, 4am everything’s been left on the side for hours. You’d still get a better burger. Dreadful, would rather eat the sand from towan down the road.

I ordered a pulled pork taco and my friend order a beef one and when it came out we asked which is which and they said to work it out our self and find out my friend doesn’t eat pork this is disrespectful

was absolutely not worth the hour long wait. i ordered the amigo chicken burger and asked for no tomatoes and no coleslaw, both of which i was still given anyways. a general consensus from other people i was eating with all said similar things like it was dry, the cheese tasted funny etc. also was highly expensive for the service and food we received. waitresses also did not seem to pay us much attention. now as someone who has been a waitress before, yes this can be hard if you are busy, but there was about 3 other tables sat in the restaurant. it would’ve been nice to at least have a ‘sorry about the wait’ every now and again but i guess not. only thing i can really appreciate is the cocktails, if you want a drink (not too cheap but not too expensive) you should try it out, but just don’t order food it is not worth it.

I love this place!!! The food was top notch!!! Food was very slow to come. They only book the tables for an hour and a half, well if you can only have the table that long, they'd best speed up their service to match cos we wouldn't have got in 2 courses, let alone 3. I've heard rumours it's closing, I really hope not, there's nowhere else like it. Other than the long wait for food, it's amazing! I love it!

Had a horrendous experience at the place. 45 minutes to get nachos on the table. An hour and 15 minutes for mains. The quesedilla was inedible as were the cauliflower tacos. The pulled BBQ pork tacos were decent. The nachos were quite nice. Non smiling and absolutely clueless wait staff. One of the worst experiences in our visit to Cornwall. Avoid at all costs.

I can’t say we had the best experience dining here tonight as there were a couple of issues. Our average star rating is generous as we understand the business is having staffing difficulties. Our waiter was Jake, was attentive, courteous, friendly & polite. Handling our complaint professionally & apologetically whilst standing by his team of colleagues.

Great food, great atmosphere, well priced and a nice alternative to the local fish and chip offering! Will definitely visit again.

Favourite place to eat so far in Newquay... served by a very nice lady Alisha. Good place to take children as the high chairs sit inside the table booths.

Starters took forever and the hotel wasn’t that full, we wish we could take back our limited time and not go to this place. Find better use for your time. Drinks were fine.

Absolutely disgusting. Really disappointed in the food. I had been really looking forward to eating here. The food had Mexican names but definitely wasn't authentic. Won't ever be coming again.

Absolute shambles. The whole restaurant needs a deep clean as it is old and tired and obviously lacking in cleaners. Whole team (average age probably mid 20’s) need to be trained. Had to ask for side plates, cutlery and condiments. Starter of nachos was just thrown together which looked like a complete mess. Both main dishes were thrown on the table and waiter never explained which meal was who’s. Chicken was disgusting. Chilli beef had no chilli so basically mince meat and rice. Complained to waiter only to fall on deaf ears. I travel to Cornwall around 3-4 times a year over the last 15 years and now I know why I never ever used this place. It berates myself to even give it a one star. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Great staff, great food, fab atmosphere

The food was amazing, andnthe atmoshere was great. We had to wait a very long time for the food but they had some staff off sick so they did what thay could. Great gluten free range to!

Extremely poor service. Disgusting sanitary. Noticed a waiter spit on my drink when i asked for ice. Strongly do not recommend, ashamed really!

Very nice meal nachos were good with the added dips and had the chimichangas with steak and the fajitas with steak. All was very enjoyable and the waitress was overly helpful throughout service.

A bit dark and depressing. The interior is very dated and the table we were given was dirty and very sticky to the touch. We requested it too be cleaned properly which they were happy to oblige The food was great tho.

Credit to the barman as the margaritas were very nice! Sadly, that’s about all we can say. The food was ok in a “straight out of the freezer and into the fryer” way. What really irked was being given the bill when we hadn’t even asked for it at 8.30pm in half full restaurant on a Saturday night! Not even asked if we wanted a dessert! Clearly all the 18 year old staff were keen to get away!

I’ve been coming here for years n year and have always had a good time. Excellent margaritas. This time we tried the sharing platter for two. Definitely large enough. The restaurant happily packed up what we had left and ever threw in extra condiments Top stuff

Worst meal and experience in a "Mexican Restaurant". This place looked great from the reviews that I cannot fathom how they received the four star review. As you enter this run down cafe like restaurant you are sat at a pitifully sticky table and served menus for drinks and cocktails with no prices on. At just under £9 for a cocktail seemed pretty average and we all decided to go for a cocktail. These were tastless and I presume that he two boys behind the bar making them just poured them straight from a carton. The sign on the menu stating all the food is fresh and all spices are brought around the world was an absolute joke as the fried calamari looked and tasted like they had come out of Iceland frozen section. The burrito was sodden in oil and over done. The garlic bread was burnt and the service was not great either. The card machine did not work so we had to go and get cash out to pay the bill. The cleanliness of the place was a joke and had mould growing throughout. DO NOT GO HERE.

We were booked in for 5pm Friday 19th august we were looked after by a very polite young blonde haired lady can’t remember her name sorry 🙈 we chose to have a starter which we should have avoided but we were starving so we smashed the starter which was nacho sharer and it was amazing! My friend had the chilli for her main and I got to try some of the meat and it was faultless melting in ur mouth. She ordered a portion of chips which was huge I had the burrito and fries and it was lovely again huge side of twister fries. Portions are big so we didn’t really need the starter but it was all beautiful. Another place I always visit when I am in Newquay

Such poor value for money. Do not waste your money. Service was brilliant I should add. Kids meals, they got a hand full of curly fries and 2x sausage that contained god knows what(proper cheap bangers) Tacos , pretty sure they used crucial sauces (£1 from b&m) which just over powered everything. 3 pretty poor tacos and nothing else for £16 . Stay away. I will certainly not be back and will not recommend d to anyone at all.

Love the ambience and their food and drink is reasonably priced. They accept walkins coz they value every customer. Outdoor is good but careful of the Seagals they can savage your food. I recommend eating inside

Went there for our anniversary , took our grankids and all had a very good time . Plenty of choice from the menu , goid value and very good , easy going atmosphere .

Best Mexican Restaurant in Cornwall. We go here every year when on holiday and the food never disappoints. Staff are friendly and helpful, most people don't realise that there is a second level downstairs where you can watch the kitchen staff cook the fresh food in front of you.... Highly recommended, cocktails are great, food equally as good. 5 stars all day long!

I haven't had a meal that good in a long time. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly and the portions were huge. My partner and I shared the nachos starter which was was really nice (if not a little big). My sizzler fajita was the best just too much food. Highly recommend!!

Ok so we have eaten Mexican in the States, where Mexican food is everywhere and cooked by Mexicans. But due to the good reviews we thought we’d give this place a try. It’s was terrible, service slow and there was hardly anyone here. Food was dry, tasteless and not near enough cheese. ☹️

Great traditional style Mexican with authentic tasty dishes, great staff and good drinks plus they make one hell of a margarita! Definitely worth a visit.

Food was okay and the staff was very friendly. However, we would have expected guacamole and sour cream to be included with both the quesadillas and the enchiladas - w/o ordering this separately. And more queso. Quite expensive. No coffee available.

Had a fantastic meal polite friendly staff meals in good time decent portions. Went on a Friday at 6pm was seated straight away worth a visit. Plus only place I've gone that's played good spanish/Romanian music instead of typical English asummed Spanish music loved it to bits great atmosphere.

We were a table of 5 put on a table that could not take 5 (4 tops), staff kept coming over for our order clearly we needed more time. The food was plentiful but we all said that it was tasteless not what you expect from a Mexican, at £15 for a main meal I would have expected better quality and tastier food. But on the good side it was very clean and presentable.
