Lovely fish and chips, freshly cooked 😋

It's a little off the beaten track and somewhat unassuming from the outside, but once you open the door it's obvious the staff are proud of what they do. It won't be the cheapest fish and chips you've had in London, but it might well be one of the tastiest. The fish is always fresh and really good quality, the batter around it, delicious. Chips and peas and plenty of salt and vinegar... On a cold day? With a cup of tea? Maybe a buttered roll? Stop it, my mouth's watering.

I like the staffs, they are truely nice, they treat me as a friend from the very beginning. The food is just as wonderful as they are I'm gonna miss the giant juicy haddock!!!

Possibly the best fish n chips in London. Very tasty indeed, can't go wrong. Nice people excellent service and good value for money

I used to go there when I was a student in 2018. This was one of my favourite places to go for diner. Today after 7 years I am craving for Fish and Chips and reminded me of this Fish Bar. So I searched it on google maps if it is still there. Currently I am in Canada and planning to visit whenever I visit London. Owner is friendly and generous, sometimes he used to give me discounts and sometimes free food as he knew I was a student. Recommended 10/10

Best fish & chip shop around and guaranteed fresh cod. The lovely staff let us sit outside in the sun with a cold drink and even gave us table service. We could not have asked for more after work on a hot Summers day.

I had the rock fish and chips- quite a large amount of fish and flavorful . The staff are super friendly , we sat outside it was a lovely day!

This is the only place I go for my fish and chips, I travel from Brockley just to buy here. I think this is the third owners in about 20 years and the quality is still the best. Service first class fish is the best.

The chips are amazing Have to say most of the fish & and chips shop I've been to don't seem to be good as this is place when my local closed down I was at a lose end where to go so I started going over fish and chips around the area I noticed eve the fish was under cooked or the chips were under cooked to oily ect When I found Semas Fish Bar, I knew I found the jackpot I would recommend this place. The only downside is I have to travel quite far to get to this place, but it's worthwhile

Always very good fish, chips are usually very good, the staff is always really nice and give generous portions. Bring cash ideally!

Needed a small pick you up bite and ordered a large burger 🍔 which comes with 🥗 salad & tasted great.

Fantastic large lamb donor kebab and the salad fresh . I paid £18 for two people and it was worth every pound. Thanks👍

beautifully cooked fish and chips...

I normally don't eat Fish myself but I went there to get dinner for my Nan and the food was prepared so well I decided to try some, now I can say I'm a fish fan. I'll definitely be coming here again.

I was so looking forward to a simple bag of lovely traditional chips but these were the worst ever. The chips were luke warm, floppy and a grey, brown colour. It's as if they were steamed and not deep fried. It was such a disappointment and a real shame as the fella who served me was nice. Apparently there is a £10 minimum payment on cards which is bonkers for a chipy.

This is the best fish and chips shop in the local area! Without a doubt 🫡

I visited Sema’s today whilst on lunch and working in the area on entry the shop looked really nice and clean and a great selection of your chippy favourites on the menu. You. There was 2 male members of staff behind the counter the first just completely ignored me and the second just stood there carrying on what he was doing no greeting or attempt to serve. On finally getting served the staff members just threw it all in the box and threw it on the counter I then politely requested a bag for the staff to abruptly respond YES I KNOW I’m sainburys this one’s 20P here free next times 10P and just slammed it on the side. The staff here let this place down dramatically and have no idea on customer service and make you feel uncomfortable and unpleasant in the shop and either need retraining in customer service or placed out the way without the need to interact with others as there clearly unprofessional. As for the food it’s self it was pretty average the chips were warm which was a let down the cod bites were tasty and fresh but not the hottest and the sausage was pretty good too as for the bread roll avoid if you want to keep your teeth. Unfortunately this is the first and last time I’ll visit Sema’s Fish Bar and I highly recommend getting some new staff in the place before you lose more custom due to the lack of professionalism from the current two

Overcharged me for the lunch time deal and mugged me for the cod pieces you get the chips how they cook them which is raw don’t bother asking for them to be crispy there’s no point unless you like dirty looks or attitude depending on who serves you I now avoid and take my money elsewhere like meat & liquor, Johnnys cafe, 500 degrees pizza, Morley’s chicken and the many other fast food shop around Dulwich

Bad Food and or Hygiene. I recently became very ill after eating their fish and chips. The only other thing I had eaten that day was muesli. Stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Not pleasant. Best avoided.

First time visitor yesterday, fish was mega and cooked great. Chips decent and curry source was spot on :) See you next Friday!

I highly recommend this place! I believe it's one of the best fish & chip shops in dulwich! (and I've tried a few!).. They also do pies, sausages and amazing kebabs: lamb shish, chicken shish, doner, and kofte! All cooked fresh to order and always taste delicious! They except Cash, and now take card payments too! I have always received a friendly welcome and a good service here. If you haven't already, please give them a try!

Love Sema's, wouldn't get my food from anywhere else, the food is amazing and the portions are enormous, what else could you want, the guys who work here are lovely fellas too. Even this cat has heard of their reputation.

Luckily somethings don't change, this place is still spotlessly clean and well maintained, with a warm welcome and serving up quality food at reasonable prices. Fish is fresh and cooked well, real chip shop chips and staff are just lovely.

Didn't listen to my order, asked for ketchup on my cheese quarter pounder 3 times then do you want cheese on your burger? I got home to find a soggy burger with chilli sauce on it. I mean come on guys if you put someone front of house they at least need to be able to understand the customer. The fish and chips were fine though. And in fairness when I phoned them to complain they did say come back and they will replace it, but that would have meant my partners food would have been cold or her eating on her own. Boy's you need to listen. Not happy.

Semas has been our local chippie for almost 25 years. Great food and always very friendly staff. Their chips are exactly what you want from chip shop chips 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

Great value, friendly staff and tasty fish and chips

Today it was the first time we had fish & chips from this place, and me and my wife were very disappointed. I had a cod and she had a haddock, both of them were very salty on the batter and on the meat, which I thought it was very odd. The chips were mediocre and very oily. And finally the mashed peas, they were bland no flavour whatsoever. So, this was my first and last experience with Semas Fish Bar.

I have been going to this place for so many years now and the food standards are always the same and the people are lovely and have great sense of humour. This is by far the Best Fish & Chip shop in London and I have visited a few others and none of them come close to this shop.

Absolutely nasty 🤢 vile rank food you ask them every single time to cook the chips longer but they still give them to u like raw hard greasy potatoes. It such a shame it used to be such a nice chip shop when Sema owned it. If any1 wants a nice chip shop go to Emily on northcross road the food is always on point. Unlike this nasty chip shop it should of been shut down 6 years ago.

HAD Sausage and batter the worse i have eaten in ages chips was either re- fried or just old and sausage had grissle in it threw the whole lot away used to be really good years ago Will not be returning there again

PLEASE do not buy from this take out fish and chip shop. Not only is it massively over priced, i.e. £45 for 4 very small portions of fish and chips. I question THE ACTUAL type of fish and batter it is? The presentation of the fish batter looked like dyed yellow and the cod fish tasted like bland frozen fish. It was horrid. The chips were oily and soggy. My first reaction was to throw the lot away, be it an expensive experience but my family were hungry! So we all had it for lunch. It was absolutely awful and to top it off by 9pm the same day we ALL had stomach aches, severe Diarrhea. The take away shop looked pleasant enough and the staff were very friendly but the quality, taste and tiny quantity was appalling. My youngest daughter of 10 was very ill, took her to A&E and they relayed food poisoning. I got on here past mid night after a challenging evening to find reviews for this take away establishment and was astonished to find 3 stars although there was similar comment s to mine. I do not believe the positive comments are a true reflection at all; unless it was many years ago and under different management? The dreadful food and mega over price for cheap quality food is concerning especially in such a trendy part of East Dulwich. It does makes me wonder if this is the reason they get away with it? Never again!!! I do feel like confronting them face to face and demanding my £45 back! THIS SITE FORCED ME TO PUT 1 STAR OR WOULD NOT POST! NO STARS AND IT SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN!!!! I am so angry!!

I would never revisit this place. I had a fish cake and chips a couple of years ago and got the worst food poisoning I have ever experienced. I actually collapsed on the street the day after from illness. I assume it was the fish cake as my partner had fish and was ok. I can't be sure of course what caused it but would never risk it again.

I had a small fish and i wasnt keen on colour of batter but they said was fine and fresh, farrrrrr from i tell you because i got sick. I left it a while before i returned thinking they may have improved and got sausage and chips and the sauage in batter tasted funny and found 2 bits of grizzle in it. I had sickness and diahreera really badly and a friend was also unwel and she got fish. I am very disapointed as it is now twice. I do not reccomend to anyone it is very far from consistent but they have put there prices up but quality is extremily bad and portion size is smaller.

Always busy because it's always good. Superb fish and chips and excellent kebabs. Don't believe the bad reviews, just check out the shop on a Friday night!

Not good. They pretend that fish is freshly cooked. When you enter, they produce a previously cooked piece of fish from under the counter as if it has come out of the deep fryer. Completely dishonest and terrible approach to customer service.

Super kebabs and friendly staff!

Generous portions of delicious fish and chips. They also do kebabs and the other usual stuff found at a chippie. There's often a short wait in the evening, which is a good thing because it means that there is enough throughput that everything is getting cooked up fresh!

Avoid like the plague. Massively overpriced, dreadful chips and the worst Cod I've ever tasted. Would never return.
