This place breaches defies the basic laws of hygiene. Cross contaminated cheese sandwich, had flakes of ham in it. The order being; a cheese sandwich for my vegetarian niece. In what universe is that acceptable? The staff, although very young, tried their best, but there was an older man who was constantly watching and fussing (but not helping) whilst talking to a couple of cronies. Furthermore, instead of making people nervous, why is he allowing his staff to wear long hair down and jewelry, when it is clearly stated against the basic hygiene rules. Where is the department of health and safety when you need them? The coffee, to put it bluntly is revolting, if I had the energy j would have complained, but, I felt sorry for the overworked and clearly underpaid and unhappy young staff. It's not their fault, it's the owners. He should be ashamed of himself, exploitation is alive and well. I strongly recommend he gets his act together because his lack of care, hygiene and substandard ingredients will be his downfall.

Stayed nearby for a few days to attend a function at this venue. There was food everywhere within the bar area. Cakes everywhere you turned, they were laid out on the bar to the point you couldn't put your drinks down while you ordered - we saw people dripping their alcohol over the cakes as they reached to grab the drinks. There was a stack of pot noodle on the bar - too much in your face. One of each flavour would be so much better. The staff hygiene was very poor while making sandwiches - my auntie specified she was looking for a vegetarian option - they said cheese, but continued to use the same gloves they'd been using to cut up the meats moments before. The food itself was cold - asked for wedges they were soggy and cold. The bacon was cold unless you made it first in line. A group of 6 of us tried the sunday roast - honestly it was the worst I've ever had. It was like care home food. Everything was clearly cheap and cheerful, all frozen foods, all was a mush and it was freezing!!! The gravy was the only thing keeping it warm. The other thing about the venue - posters everywhere, everywhere you turned there was a poster advertising food or some kind of deal. TOO MUCH! The whole place was tacky apart from the toilets- I'm not sure what that says. The staff were are very young but were all very capable, they didn't mess around, they were clearly trying their best to get things done. One man constantly followed all the other staff around telling them they were doing something wrong - which was enjoyment for us. I wouldn't go out of my way to attend this venue, unless there is a function on or an event within the impressive bowling hall. Also - was not very welsh, apart from a couple welsh cakes and local ales.

Wow what a gem of a place! On Friday we were treated to an amazing tribute act at the monthly Tribute club. Neil Diamond performed hit after hit and 2 standing ovations were well deserved. On Saturday the Riverside was the perfect spot for a coffee and bacon roll after a coastal walk. The staff are so friendly. We returned on Sunday for the Carvery with 3 choices of Roast meats and an array of fresh vegetables and delicious gravy it was a real treat. The vegetarian in our party was very well catered for and a beautiful vegetable and cheese back was served and a separate serving of gravy accompanied the carvery veg and yorkshires. The Anyone Waiting team are always smart and polite and I will definatly be back.

We went here with friends and paid £10 each because the organiser did not realise that it was only £5 each until a certain date. However, this was fine, as it’s not a lot to pay for a night out.The tribute act were very good when they finally came on at about 9.30. We had been told the show was on from 7 - 10 pm, so were waiting a long time. We were told they had been caught in traffic. We all enjoyed ourselves, dancing to the music and said we would definitely go here again.

Attended an all day event for dance/drama. Venue altered the times of the booking and booked in another event. This caused no end of disruption to the majority. Arrived at venue to find a room which appeared as though it had never seen a hoover. Food and drinks being served in/on polystyrene and lack of staff. This all paled into significance when immediately as the show came to an end... some 30 minutes before we were due to vacate the room a staff member told the sound crew to cut the sound dead and tell all parents to wait outside for children as they needed to prepare for the next function. Immediately staff suddenly seemed to be in abundance and were wheeling tables and setting them up around people who had formed a que and were trying to leave the hall. Despite being asked twice to wait while the children were handed over to their parents the staff continued to bustle in trolleys of utensils, cutlery etc. What should have been a lovely ending to a show that children as young as 4 had worked so hard to produce it ended on a damp note as they were rushed out. Shame on you Selwyn centre.

Attended for an event. Only one starter option with stale bed roll. One table was missed and recieved no starters until this was flagged up and the starters were recieved when every other table had finished theirs. Beef dinner was luke warm, flour still in the gravy and when asked for vinegar was told they had none on the premises. Two desert options, fudge cake or cheesecake. All cheesecakes were still so frozen they we're unedible and fudge cakes were cold. When asked if either were served with anything the server answered saying he didnt know! Just a complete waste of money.

Organised a large meeting at the Selwyn Samuel for business. It was a nightmare from start to finish. The manager persistently called to demand full payment a month before the event even though this was not agreed. He apparently had 'Head Office in London' chasing him for full payment which was an outright lie as the business is registered in his name and based in Llanelli. He was rude, confrontational and threatening. Venue was filthy when we arrived and the food inedible. The waitress on shift was excellent and could not do enough. Will never, ever book this place again and have advised numerous organisations I work with to avoid at all costs!

It was awful from start to finish. The starter came it was like warm soup, the mains took an eternity to arrive when they did everyone had the wrong meat. Lots of meal where sent back cold mine was cold sent it back when we had it back it was still cold even the Yorkshire pudding was cold. The veg was cold and the gravy complained and was just told "sorry" . The desert came out eventually that was OK then the coffee which again was cold. It was a family meal for my nephew and his wife and children spoilt by the food. I felt so sorry for the waiter and waitress who were getting most of the complaints. When it came to paying the assistant manager came round and took our payment we said again about the food and she said she couldn't give us anything off our food as the manager wasn't there. We found out this was a lie as someone else complained and she went to speak to the manager and they didn't pay for their food. Disgusting would never go there again

Have attended both the foundations concert and the marmalade concert in recent months at the Selwyn Samuel Centre. Both concerts had a relaxed yet lively atmosphere as guests had the freedom to roam around while the performance was on. The arena itself was aesthetically appealing with the arrangement of the cabaret style tables. Both bars had a wide variety of products from pints to pimms and prosecco all of which were reasonably priced. The younger and older generations both enjoyed the night, the joes ice cream that was on offer and the variety of theatre favourites like hot dogs and popcorn. The staff throughout the night were pleasant, well presented, well mannered, friendly and professional. I was surprised t the fact that there were no dirty glasses or any rubbish on the tables the ought the night as staff had it covered removing it con hasn't with out being an interruption. I'm looking forward to returning to the venue for the searchers.

I enjoyed so much that we have all booked for The Searchers. The room looked very professional, I couldn't get over how big it was and I loved the screen in-front of which the band performed. It was really nice to see many others of a similar age able to have a really fun and safe night out. One member of staff even helped me to book a taxi. I went to one of their concerts they were hosting and it was well organised! Me and my family were very impressed by the organisation of the arena, the staff was very helpful and professional by taking care of us and showing to where we were sitting. There were many things available for us and was easy to get. There was never a queue so that we could enjoy every bit of the concert. There was never a table that was full of rubbish there were groups of staff going around constantly asking if everything was good and they would collect any glasses or rubbish.

I have recently visited the Selwyn Samuel Centre to organise rooms for special events. Whilst organising, I could see through the windows on the doors which look into the kitchen where I could see food getting prepared homemade. Then, I could see that a delivery had arrived for the kitchen. Whilst the doors were opening and closing there was a lovely smell of beef that was cooking. I then decided to place an order for food after I done what I needed too. The food was superb and so tasty I enjoyed every bit of it. I highly recommend the Selwyn Samuel Centre.

I recently bought gold tickets to the selwyn Samuel centre to sit in the blue section to watch the fabulous entertaining band called the foundations. Everything about the night was superb for example the prices of drink, tickets and the general night was relatively cheap assuming they are a top band and served to the highest standard by the lovely well dressed bar staff. With this gold ticket I was able to dine in the highest quality hot buffet which was well presented and delicious( one of the best I've tasted). Our tables were spotless from inch to inch and we had waitress which were constantly asking if we needed anything but in a polite manner and how could you not give them a tip, they were fantastic. In the show we were fortunate to be entertaining for hours on end by the amazing tribute band and the foundations. Although the colossal band were around in the 1970s the people of the younger age category thoroughly enjoyed many songs which we performed especially the big track"buttercup". Around the centre, there were two bars which offered every drink on the planet, a pimms bar which was refreshing and joes ice cream which was delivered to us and the youngsters during the breaks. To conclude this event, I would highly recommend some of the later events coming up such as marmalade, Elkie brooks and the searchers. And if they are presented in the same way as the foundations I'm sure it will be packed and hopefully a regular thing in Llanelli town for us to have entertainment and enjoyment.

Went to this centre for a work event yesterday. Hard to find and to nowhere to park. OK inside and the view out of the window was lovely, but although the buffet food was acceptable, the only plates available were the size of saucers. It was as though they were worried about people being greedy and loading up too much - I found that quite insulting. Also most of the ladies toilets were blocked with water over the floor.

After hearing the Selwyn Samuel center had re-opened, I thought to give it a go. I was pleasantly suprised at the New cafe, opened next to the bowls hall. New funky style. Comfortable and welcoming. Flowers on every table. And the staff, well....so friendly. Always happy to help. Can hear them enjoying their jobs with laughter, not only between themselves, but with regular bowls players. Fresh coffee of all varieties, which I sip slowly watching the bowls matches as the blinds are pulled back. The food is lovely and freshly made. Large variety of sandwiches and cakes. As well as pub classics such at smothered chicken, cottage pie and faggots. I will be eating here for lunch as often as I can as I couldn't imagine anywhere as welcoming and relaxed.

We went back to the Selwyn Samuel Lliedi suite to enjoy a joint birthdaycelebration lunch for two older gentlemen who had invited over 40 guests. As we had been there before, and the food was always good, we were all looking forward to it.Oh dear. It has changed hands (i.e. the caterer is different) - and it was truly one of the worst meals we have eaten out anywhere. There was little if no choice of menu.First course was either juice (apple or orange) or tomato soup that was served in a mug...cup a soup???? My elderly relative commented that it was "disappointing". Little bread rolls were skewered on top of the mug. No side plates, just the mug's saucer. Salt & pepper were in the kind of packets you see on motorways or Wetherspoons. (Nothing against either of the latter, just didn't expect it here on such an occasion.)There were no serving spoons so when the vegetables eventually arrived for the main course, we used our useless soup spoons or dessert spoons. The main dish of roast beef was literally dumped on my place by a very unfriendly younger waitress who didn't offer it or utter a word; as I hadn't asked what the main course was, expecting a choice, this was a nasty surprise as I don't eat red meat - in any case, it was stone cold, on a cold plate and the roast potatoes were burned. When after a number of complaints we were eventually offered a choice of cold ham or chicken as swell as the beef, a number of guests who don't eat beef ordered the chicken. I asked if there was a sauce with the ham and the young waiter looked dumbfounded, as if I had asked for something unheard of. I ended up choosing chicken. The meal was due to begin at 1.30 and our main course of chicken eventually arrived at 2.45. What a pity it was inedible. The outside was cooked hard and the inside wasn't, with a touch of pink.....cooked too quickly...microwave job? Offering this to anyone, let alone elderly people, is dangerous and just isn't acceptable. The waitresses served extra vegetables - sadly all these were cold too. Some guests who had the beef said it was quite good, but that the roast potatoes were often burnt and cold.Sweets were a choice of cheesecake or Joe's ice cream which was served in cardboard cups. Were we at the cinema? Friends who ate the cheesecake found it very nice - indeed if it wasn't for the taste of Joe's ice cream (the best in the world as far as I am concerned) I would have tried to give my overall rating a half.Drinks from the bar were warm and flat. The white wine was warm and the red acceptable. It was most embarrassing for the gentleman who had booked the lunch to say the least. I hope that the caterer is honest enough to refund him in recognition of the shocking service provided. We most certainly would not return here unless dragged by wild horses - and they could be on the menu - if there was one on offer. It was a lovely event but a truly awful lunchtime experience. Please bring back the other caterers!

We were greeted by very friendly, smiling staff and shown to our table which was generously sized for the three of us. The choice of starters and mains were more than adequate and the vegetables that accompanied the main meal were numerous and cooked to perfection. There was also homemade gravy. The friendly waitress offered us more vegetables and gravy if needed. I counted 14 desserts on the sweet table a variety to suit all tastes followed by tea or coffee if having the three courses. I've actually visited the Lliedi Suite (rear of Selwyn Samuel Centre behind the Leisure Centre - not an obvious find!) for many functions, and didn't realise that they did Sunday lunches on a walk-in basis until recently. Sunday lunches are served by friendly attentive young waiting staff, and it's nice to just sit down and have something brought to you, on a table with a white tablecloth, without having to have a table number....... the Lliedi Suite has a pleasant location with large windows looking over the adjacent parkland, so very nice and bright for lunch. For £8.95 you get three courses with a good range of choices for all. This last time I had Garlic Mushrooms for a starter, and OH had a good-old fashioned Prawn Cocktail. All very retro, which is fun. However, I was not madly keen on my mushrooms, and think the soup (which I have had several occasions) is probably the best bet. There are bread rolls provided. Main course was traditional with a choice of meats. While the portion of meat is not huge, the choice of vegetables is vast and well cooked. We had enough for 4 people, and were offered more of everything, which makes a change! There are also home-made sauces and condiments (eg apple mint etc) provided separately, along with a gravy boat brought to the table. It's very much in the old-fashioned style.Desserts are good and an excellent choice, with various pies, fruit crumbles, trifle and gateau offered. Most of the desserts are home-made, and they finish off your lunch nicely. All in all, the lunch deal here is a bit of a hidden gem, and it's a shame more people don't take advantage on a Sunday.
