Great service, friendly and fast. Starters were delicious. Only gripe was roast potatoes weren't crispy and tasted warmed up. Would definitely return.

We booked the afternoon tea in advance for Saturday afternoon because of the good reviews. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation and waited a while to been seen to. The man who showed us to our table made a hash of trying to find our reservation and then said "sorry, this isn't my usual job." He asked if we would like some water for the table (we said yes) and then we never saw him, or the water again. The restaurant wasn't busy, but there were tables either side of ours that were still covered in crockery and food from the guests who had left before we were seated. 15 minutes after being seated, we were asked what we would like to drink and the drinks were bought out after about 10 minutes. I asked one of the servers if there was any chance of having the dirty tables cleared and she didn't seem too happy to have been asked but did it reluctantly despite not being busy. The food was delivered about 15 minutes after the drinks and was OK. Not the best afternoon tea I've never had, nor was it the worst. Nobody ever came back to the table to check that everything was ok with the food or to see if we were ok for drinks. We had to go and find a member of staff to ask for the bill.

We were gifted Sunday lunch, and were the first ones in the restaurant as it opened, throughout our time there staff were polite and attentive. My partner had the Ham Hock Terrain starter which was very nice and full of flavour. We both ordered Beef roast dinner it looked lovely and looked well plated when it arrived to the table. Unfortunately, I didn't have to look to closely at the Yorkshire pudding to see that it had quite a bit of mould on the outside edges and was cold I sent this back to the kitchen asking for a new dish of food to be served up and my partner asked for his food to be kept warm while my dinner came. The server was apologetic and offered us a complimentary drink. Again our food was brought to the table minus yorkshire pudds (disappointing!) I presume they were all mouldy. Again we were disappointed as the food was served to us luke warm at best cool roast potatoes, cold veg and cool gravey! I can confirm this as I asked for more roast potatoes and they were piping hot. I had a cheese board to finish which was lovely. Such a shame, as we were really looking forward to enjoying a meal out. The kitchen really need to up its game and powers of observation as the food should never have gone out like that...

Where do I begin, this was an awful experience from start to finish. I booked an Afternoon Tea to take my mum here for a nice day out, after ringing 3-4 times the previous two days I received no response and was sent to voicemail. I left an email and was finally able to book the table for 2PM on a Sunday. When we first arrived there was nobody to greet us, so I asked a barman where to go, he directed us to the restaurant. I walked in and hovered awkwardly before stopping a waitress and informing her that I'd booked a table and would like to be seated. She gestured over to a far table and me and my mum sat down, no menus, no order taken, I was left quite confused. After being left sat for 5-10 minutes I stopped a different waitress and asked her what was going on and that I'd pre-booked the service, she said she'd inform the kitchen and have our order put through - still left without even a glass of water. The lack of communication was unbelievable between the staff and it felt as though they didn't even know we existed. Eventually we had our food and drinks brought out, the sandwiches were terrible, the beef was so tough I had to use a knife and fork and the portion was tiny. Throughout the time we ate and drank we never had a single person come to check and ask whether everything was alright, no other interaction from the staff. I decided I would rather leave and asked whether I could have the scones placed into a takeaway box, rather than clearing the table and doing so, boxes were brought over and left on our table for us to pack them ourselves. I hastily did so and then left without anybody saying goodbye, no interaction whatsoever. I cannot stress how poor the service was here, hence my need to leave this review and warn others.

I went for afternoon tea and it was a treat from my three daughters. Ambience was lovely, and excellent service, food was plentiful and delicious would highly recommend. Just one criticism, afternoon tea is just that and the cup of tea should be served in a cup and saucer and not a latte glass cup .

Our son and his wife gave us a Groupon voucher for the Secret Garden in Chester. 3 courses with a glass of wine. What a super meal! The staff were delightful, friendly and helpful. We booked very early so had the very smart restaurant to ourselves. I chose the mussels starter, beef noodle main and chocolate and cherry pudding. Hubby chose, chicken parfait, fish and chips and crumble and proper custard dessert. Hubby is very mean with praise for food but not this time! All the food was excellent. Well presented, hot and tasty. But the chips stole the show. They were epic. I mentioned this to the receptionist as we left. She said they were Pierre Koffman potatoes from Hoole farmers market. We will be calling in for some! Would love to go back. I must hint to my son for Mothers day!!

Had the Chuck & Brisket Burger and it was honestly one of the nicest burgers I've ever had. The collection of starters were also really delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the bar staff made lovely cocktails that fit my requests. Cute setting outside - many people kept their jackets on but there are lots of heaters and I was comfortable in just my regular clothes.

Booked through travel zoo. Overall enjoyed the experience but have to say that the afternoon tea wasn’t great. Sandwiches were tiny bits of bread with toppings....coronation chicken, smoked salmon, egg, cheese and ham. Cakes were dry but ok. Didn’t get offered tea or coffee... Our table was half sun and shade; another group asked to move to a sunny table after the people left and weren’t allowed - not quite sure why? The place was lovely and staff great but wouldn’t buy afternoon tea again to be honest

Been to Wildwood on many occasions and never once had an issue. This time we went for the 2 mains, fries and a drink for £10 deal and it is excellent value for money. You get a large 12" pizza if you order the pizza and it is cooked to perfection

While the starter (Seekh kabob ) was reasonable, the Mains mutton Kadai was nothing but BOILED meat in a onion and tomato gravy, and absolutely tasteless meal. Strangely the establishment does not provide a VAT receipt nor did the sole server even have a standard credit card receipt . A very disappointing meal

After a long tiring day of train travel and equally tiring walking, we wanted something simple and good, a nice piece of cod perhaps. We found Hoole Fish Bar just down Ermine Street, its presence noted by a very funny fish above the door. Owned by a Chinese couple who’ve toiled here for over 20 years to make a better life for themselves, they were very kind and helpful to us when we ordered. (My wife, originally from British Hong Kong, spoke to the lady as best she could, but they couldn’t understand each other’s dialects…didn’t matter…) It is a counter service take away, it was cold and raining, so we asked if we could stand in a corner and eat. The lady said of course ( although it was a strange request!). She spoke to her husband, and they very graciously invited us into their home to enjoy our well prepared and very generous food in the warmth of their kitchen! We thanked them many times and parted with smiles, handshakes, and traditional bows! The World is really a very small place after all…

Thought we would try this new place, was 20 minutes late. The food arrived and I was the worst curry I’ve ever had.. madras and rogan Josh was the same colour (yellow) madras just didn’t taste like a madras.. chicken was like frozen chicken cubes from Iceland.. mixed kabab starter, all the meats were hard.. overall was very disappointing.. also overpriced.

Typical Greene King pub with the usual generic lagers and beers. But there was a selection of hand pulls. Large floor area to the lounge, walk round to the bar. Comfortable seating.
