The decor of this place is lovely and it felt like a little oasis of calm. The staff were friendly too. However the food and drinks were bang average and expensive for what they were. A very small scone and tea was nearly £8 which was pricey.

We stumbled on this lovely place yesterday whilst wandering through Bradford on Avon as visitors to the area. Seeing that we had a dog, the owner quickly said we were welcome to come in with whatever animals we had, including giraffes, which we had left at home! The outside seating area had a dog bowl ready for my 4 legged friend and we were encouraged to move the tables for our convenience as a group of 7. Service was quick, friendly and helpful and we were offered a booklet of walks in the local area, compiled by the owner! As it came on to rain we were found a table inside and as we left the cafe in a slight shower, we were offered a golf umbrella to borrow for our visit, which turned out to be the making of the day as the heavens opened whilst we walked along the river! What a lovely place and what friendly and kind people. We will definitely make a beeline for the Secret Garden next time we are in Bradford on Avon 🥰

In Bradford on avon there are lots of smart restaurants/cafes … where you are only valued as a customer when it comes to paying the bill… you are just a number… HOWEVER at the Secret Garden Cafe you are always a valued customer. Today I arrived .. I was welcomed warmly… nothing too much trouble… I felt like I counted! The sandwich I ordered was full snd scrumptious and not just a sandwich thrown together… it was made with care and love.. and was a full plate with coleslaw salad and crisps. Here you feel like a valued guest. I love this secret garden quietly resting behind the traffic that is Bradford on Avon. The garden is beautiful, the water feature behind me restful. What’s not to love about this place! It’s a little independent cafe where I want to spend my hard earned cash.. and yes they still take cash. Highly recommend you try it..

We popped in for a coffee. It looked quirky, but that’s the best I can say. We couldn’t find a table that had been cleared. We sat at a table and waited ages to be cleared. When the coffee eventually came, it was really disappointing. We had asked for a flat white, but it was just a weak, milky, bland coffee. The table next to us were complaining that they had ordered 30 minutes ago and still hadn’t been served. We asked for the key to the toilet, but the server forgot to bring it to us. We won’t return.

We chose to pop into the Secret Garden for a cream tea on Saturday afternoon - it looked cosy and quirky. There were a couple of tables occupied outside and we were the only customers inside, and there were at least three members of staff on duty, so not busy at all. We ordered four cream teas which were described on the menu as "delicious", paid £26 and took a seat at a table, with great expectations. After waiting over 25 minutes, one of the staff came downstairs with a packet of small scones, presumably from the fridge or freezer, certainly not fresh. The scones were eventually served to us having been warmed up (microwaved?) as they were very doughy in the centre and really not very nice. At the price they're charging, I would expect fresh home-made scones. Having waited quite a while longer, we had to remind the staff that we were still waiting for our tea and had finished eating when this finally arrived - the excuse being that they had "run out of cups"!!! Really disappointing and a complete rip-off. I would hate to think what it's like there when they are busy.

Went for a snack at 2.15pm on Saturday. Placed our order of 1 cream tea, 3 teas with 3 cheese scones, 1 ice cream & glass of tap water. We sat down thinking we would get our order in 5 - 10 mins but no after 25 mins I had to ask about our order thinking after hearing another customer complaining how long it was taking for her order & decided to get a refund. I was told there was still 2 small orders in front of ours. I told them we had a diabetic who needed her order. After about 5 mins we saw a staff member pass with packs of frozen scones which turned out to be for our order. Before we eventually got our order after 45 mins 2 more sets of customers walked out because of the waiting time for their orders. The icecream was in a prepacked carton which could have been given to the child a lot earlier, and scones were chewy after being defrosted in microwave. All in all the food was poor and the service even worse. The young waitresses made the excuse of being very busy because they were the only coffee shop open on Saturday but there was about 4 tables with people on them 2 of which left without their order and there were other coffee shops open as we passed them after leaving Secret Garden. The coffee shop was to close at 4pm but they turned the sign to closed at 3.15pm they just couldn't cope they were too uoung to be left in charge on Saturday. Maybe if the owners had of been there things would have been much betterThis was our 1st visit to Secret Garden and it most certainly will be our last.

Ordered coffee, and home made soup, one of Leek and Potato and one of Vegetable soup. The coffee tasted OK but was lukewarm, not how I like it. The Leek and Potato soup was grainy because it was mostly potato, I couldn't taste the leek content. The Vegetable soup was mostly potato with a little bit of carrot and onion. We were told the bread rolls were wholemeal, but to me they looked and tasted like the soft brown bread baps you buy from the supermarket at 80p for 4. The service was great, a lovely selection of options! The drinks and food arrived quickly and tasted great! Before we left we were given a free sample of their Christmas ice cream. We would definitely return.

We were surprised not to find any coffee shops open in BOA (Lambs Yard area) open at 9.45am but as we were leaving The Secret Garden was opening its gates thankfully after a long, muddy dog walk we needed refreshments. The gentleman was very kind about our dog and welcomed her offering complimentary dog biscuits on a plate! It was too early to eat but we thorougly enjoyed our complimentary shortbread biscuits with a delicious piping hot (rare these days) chai tea and normal tea. Served in china cup and saucers we easily each had 3 good cups of lovely tea. Superb value at £3.50. The owner made us very welcome, was extremely knowledgable on the local area too creating his own guide for you to peruse whilst enjoying your refreshments. I will certainly be making this my regular cafe when visiting BOA from now on. We have tried the various cafes in town, but none have been as welcoming and value for money as this one. The ambience with the log burner and decor is enchanting. My hubby and I didnt want to leave, could quite easily of enjoyed a longer stay. Highly recommend this quirkly, hidden little gem. We were also advised that all the food is is either sourced on the doorstep from local allotments or purchased as local as possible to the town. The menu was more detailed than I expected for such a quaint cafe. Plently to choose from; cakes, scones, a couple of hot dishes, jackets, sandwiches and possibly pannins I think. Cant wait to return with other members of my family. Thanks Lyn.

Friendly welcome and exceptional service on our first visit today to this hidden gem within Bradford on Avon. Cinnamon scones with homemade jam, clotted cream, strawberries and blueberries beautifully presented. Very good selection of savoury light bites but when next in the area I will be returning to taste one of their chilli or curries. Quality food. Plenty of covered seating outside a bonus with bee and bird friendly planned garden planting. Would highly recommend.

On a dismal November day we found this fabulous cafe! Coffee tea and delicious cake, plus welcoming staff....couldn’t ask for anything more! Apart from a Hollywood film star who looked in through the window! Be still my beating heart.....

On a wet and windy November day, we found this gem of a café. The owner was so welcoming and attentive. He explained the ingredients in the cakes and did everything to make us feel at home and comfortable. The cakes we ate were both delicious, good portions and very reasonably priced. There is a good array of herbal/fruit teas and delicious coffee. I wish all cafes and their owners/staff could be like this one.

What a thoroughly delightful place and a wonderful owner! It was a second before closing and nothing was too much effort for him. he made such a fuss of us - we were made completely welcome and he couldn’t do enough to take care of us. My rather over-heated mum was especially grateful as the owner went above and beyond to make her comfortable and cheer her up.Thank you very much - I really think you should provide lessons in customer service! Popped into The Secret Garden for a quick cuppa and we were welcomed by the owner Dave. Tea and coffee very nice, we didn't have anything to eat apart from the complimentary shortbread biscuits. Dave was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area. He had a very good work ethic and philosophy of where his produce came from, all locally sourced.Dave was certainly helpful and informative. The cafe itself had an old fashioned charm and warmth

Stopped in earlier day with family, including young children, to escape the rain. Both the people working there could not have done more to make us welcome and spoilt the kids by producing several books, games and butterflies to keep them occupied! Also loved the drinks and food we ordered. If we lived locally this would definately be regular place to visit!

Visited this weekend during a day trip to Tithe barn, so glad we did! The cream tea was delightful, the accompanying fruit lightly dusted in icing sugar was a very nice touch I thought! Lovely quirky little place, two young girls serving in there were friendly polite and very accommodating, thankyou! Oh and one more thing, the warm fresh scones are delicious, probably the best I’ve ever had in fact! Highly recommend!

This is a charming, unpretentious cafe in the heart of the town. I've only sampled the cappuccino so can't comment on the food. The service was first class. The coffees were delivered to our table within five minutes of ordering despite the cafe being quite busy. The cappuccinos were excellent and they were hot which isn't the case in so many cafes. There were some interesting cakes on offer so maybe next time!

I live locally and have visited this cafe with friends on a few occasions. Unfortunately on my most recent visit the standard hasn’t improved from the last. The staff are pleasant, young and seemingly not trained to clear tables and wipe up after departed clients. We were served hard, stale cake. When I asked to replace this with a fresh piece we chose the only cake that looked fresh. Two minutes later we were told we couldn’t have that as it was frozen? we ordered some biscuits instead but felt fed up that we should have gone somewhere else. It’s such a shame as the location is perfect and managed in the right way could be a great place to take friends and family. This is the last straw for me though, I won’t be coming back

We came across this cafe quite by accident, it’s in a lovely tranquil spot but just off the high street. We sat outside and had tasty cheese, onion and tomatoes on seeded toast, washed down with excellent coffee. We had no room for cake but they did look delicious.
