As other reporters have said, this place is quite simply heavenly. When you sit down in the garden here, and look out over the creek to the wooded slopes of the Trelissick estate on the other side, you're transported to another world: you relax; you just forget the cares and problems of the world; and you enjoy the best that Cornwall has to offer. We alighted on the place in the course of a country walk round Old Kea, Halwyn and the banks of the Fal. We came down into Coombe, saw the sign to the Secret Cupboard and, as we were ready for something to eat and drink, walked along the shingle to its gate. When we walked up into the garden, we were warmly welcomed by the proprietors, and shown to a table. We ordered a pot of tea, a cheese scone for me, and a cream tea for my wife. Everything was excellent: the scones were superb; we were given lashings of cream, and a pot of hot water came with the tea for topping it up. A real treat. The prices are very reasonable, and you're encouraged to stay for as long as you like to enjoy the views. What more can you ask? Alighting unexpectedly on the Secret Cupboard - the very Secret Cupboard - down on the banks of the Fal made our day. It's just wonderful. Our thanks to the owners, and long may their enterprise flourish.

A very special place in such a wonderful setting. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. We had an amazing lunch and the cafe is the nicest we have had in a long time. We would recommend this lovely tea garden and the area is worth visiting as it is stunning. Thankyou.

Had a great lunch - the sharing platter. Great quality. Chutney superb - would have bought some if on sale - homemade. Busy, so had to wait but no problem with these views. All the food being brought out looked very good. Lovely surroundings. Highly recommended.

The cafe is in a spectacular setting overlooking the creek set in a pretty garden. We arrived on what is possibly the last day we will see warmth and sunshine, hence we hot footed it here. We had the platter for two. It was a very generous portion; smoked salmon, ham, mackerel, prawns, various cheeses, olives, chutney, silverskin onions with bread and cheese scones. We both enjoyed it, though we were not super keen on the prawns but really liked the ham. And the chutney is so so good. The tea was excellent, and my partner enjoyed his mocktail. Prices are very reasonable. This is definitely a place to come. And it is beautiful to walk around here, very peaceful. It's a place to sit back and relax in. You should not expect fast service. Check if it's open on their Facebook site. It will be closed pretty soon now. I think they aim to stay open until mid October but this is very weather dependent. Parking is very limited in Coombe. One needs to find space on the side of the single track road as one drives in. There is only turning space at the bottom. Whenever we have come to Coombe, we have not had a problem finding somewhere .

Its not just the views that are spectacular at this fabulous little tea garden. A gentle walk brings you to a small slice of heaven. Fabulous views, only the sound of birds and leaves rustling disturbing the tranquility. Then there is the main event - the food! Oh my word - what can you say. The farmhouse platter for 2 is probably enough for 4! The quality of the scone, real, spreadable butter, the gorgeous cheeses..... I really could wax lyrical for days on end. But the standout, the ham and beef. Oh my word, that cold beef is the best I've had in years - my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I have also had the cornish breakfast there too - cracking fresh ingredients - and taste sublime. I cant wait to go back soon for cakes! Just get there and find heaven on a plate!

The location of this beautiful cottage cafe is absolutely stunning. Right by the creek leading on to the fal. Outdoor seating with cover available as the weather was fairly un predictable that day. We were warmly welcomed and allowed to sit wherever as we were the only people there to begin with. The non alcoholic sangria was lovely and refreshing. A good solid ploughman's. But the croissant with melted brie, bacon and mushrooms was absolutely superb. As a head chef myself in a hotel on the lizard peninsula it was such a joy to come somewhere peaceful and away from the maddening crowd. Will deffinately be back.

Booked breakfast for seven people. On arrival was informed that we had the date wrong and that they were expecting us the following day Checked the booking and we were correct and they had it wrong. No apology, No attempt to rectify the situation, in fact nothing. Rather annoying as we had someone from London with us and this was not the type of experience we had hoped for. We retraced our steps and found Lower Lanner Farm which is situated on the main road back out of Coombe What a difference! Friendly accommodating staff, Peaceful environment, Tasty food and good service. In fact the type of place one would revisit. This cannot be said for the Secret Cupboard & Tea Garden.

5* review-Would 100% recommend. The tempura salmon starter was generous and tasty. The lemon sole and venison were cooked to perfection. Perfect friendly individualised service. We had crumble and bread and butter pudding with clotted cream and custard, both delicious. Wow! We will definitely return. Best fish I’ve had ever! Even the music was great. We had such a lovely evening. Check out the new website and book, you won’t regret it. Thank you Annabelle and team

The service was very slow. Food from order to table took 30 minutes. We tried to order soup of the day. Both options were not available. So we chose a crab sandwich with cucumber pickle and a fresh asparagus in mint pesto and pistachio + flatbread with wild garlic butter. The flatbread was good but arrived sometime after the asparagus dish. I had expected the asparagus to be cooked. However it was raw asparagus very finely sliced in pesto. The taste between cooked and raw is quite different. Personally I prefer the cooked flavour. The raw flavour is not as distinctive and there is only so much you can enjoy. The crab sandwich was a misnomer. The crab was spread between a section of baguette with a very hard crust and the cucumber pickle in slices also in between. It was incredibly difficult to eat and impossible to cut with an ordinary knife. We requested a sharper knife and this was supplied with the comment you had to expect this with a sourdough baguette. Really? and sourdough seemed unlikely ! Neither dishes were particularly enjoyable and jointly came to £43 which we thought expensive. Service charge was extra which we declined. We have been to Source before and the menu was excellent. This time it was very disappointing - something seems to have been lost in their sense of purpose and delivery.
