Very enjoyable family-run bistro with fresh local fare.

Lovely food very friendly service, all round very good, forget the cornish arms, this place is much better value for money

A must visit place for the setting, the food and the service. A wonderful place to visit. A little expensive, £36 for a fillet steak......but we would definitely visit again. Well done 👏

We have driven past this venue many times on our trips to Cornwall but never got round to booking. We are so glad we did this time. The building is unique and interesting. The small team serving are very friendly and welcoming.The food was delicious and good value compared to some other up market Cornwall restaurants. My only bit of feedback would be the wine list was a bit limited and could do with some more good quality options. We will come back. It is shame the restaurant is not open in the off season.

We visited tonight after having driven by on countless holidays. My wife always said, it looks so good we have to visit. The greeting we received as a family was lovely. The venue is insane and I’m sure we will never visit anywhere like it again at 750 years old! We had starters and mains and the kids ate chicken and chips which was perfect. Our food was incredibly cooked and the flavours were amazing. You’re made to feel so welcome by the people there and when we visit next year for our holiday we will certainly be back.

Came upon this restaurant by accident and booked a table for 2 that evening after seeing the menu which included a good number of fish dishes. Some might say its a little pricey - until they experience the service, the atmosphere and the wonderful and abundant food beautifully cooked. Unfortunately this was the last day of our holiday otherwise we would have visited this restaurant again and again. A great experience.

We visited on a Saturday evening a party of 4 adults and 2children. The decor is wonderful with a bohemian out building. Family run who were very welcoming and friendly. We ordered a wide range of dishes. The fillet steak was Devine and perfectly cooked. Others had sea bass, lemon sole and hake. Every meal was fantastic. We holiday in Cornwall every year and this restaurant will be the first booking each year. Thanks guys for a special evening.

We made a last minute decision to go to the Ivy for a friend’s 70th birthday while visiting from NZ. The owner and her daughter were working in the restaurant and couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. The food was delicious (thank you chef) and the service fantastic. A beautiful setting and a great night was had by us.

Came here for dinner while on holiday - absolutely fantastic. The staff were friendly & very helpful and the atmosphere, despite the food's quality, felt very laid back and chilled. The food was absolutely phenomenal - I had the fillet steak and it was probably the best I've ever had. The chocolate cake was also fantastic. Great to be able to bring the dogs. We had a wonderful dinner experience at this restaurant. The lemon sole was cooked to perfection and we loved the vegetable sides. Beautiful desserts and service. The food was fine dining quality but the atmosphere was laid back and our dog was delighted to be allowed in the restaurant. Would give more than 5* if I could!

3rd visit. Last night they were open before closing for the winter. As always a lovely warm welcome. Starters: crab tart & salmon tempura, mains: dover sole, fish cakes, sea bass, ice cream & a couple of irish coffees. All the food was beautifully cooked & presented. Nice bottle of pinot noir washed everything down. Lovely evening. Will be back.

Visited this amazing family run quirky restaurant recently during a stay at Rick Steins Shepherd huts. Could not fault a thing. The owner and her daughter made you feel very welcome. Food was delicious and excellent service. Would definitely visit again if I'm I the area. I would also like to thank the lovely young chef Tom working there who very kindly drove us back to our accommodation to save us walking along the narrow unlit road in the pouring rain. Much appreciated.

Couldn’t have found a more lovely place for a family meal-wish we’d found The Ivy house earlier…We were greeted like family members,you can feel yourself relaxing instantly,the whole vibe of the place is chilled,intimate and so welcoming. The menu isn’t large,which,personally is a great thing, food was fresh,beautifully presented,delicately flavoured to bring out the best of what you were eating. There’s a fantastic chilled lounge next door,all Indian rugs,lanterns,cushions and lights..half open to the elements…unfortunately it was a bit too chilly to sit there when we went,but can imagine that it’s wonderful on a warm Summers evening….It’s definitely n o t designer,thank goodness,but if you like something a bit different,with amazing food,then go! Came back to the Ivy House for another amazing family meal. Well worth the trip and price. We had starter, main, main and desert.

Upon stopping in the carpark one wouldn't believe that you are walking towards a restaurant, with its greenary exterior tucked away at the side of the road. Upon walking in me and the family were met with a warm greeting, asking if it was warm enough and turned the roaring fireplace down as we're quite near but it was perfect. We were immediately asked how our day was and if we wanted any drinks to start of which arrived promptly. I went for the salmon tempura as a starter and the batter was exquisite and the salmon fell apart in my mouth. The portion size I thought was small until I realised how big my fillet steak main was and I was grateful for a smaller starter. I asked for medium rare and was cooked to perfection. Best steak I've ever had. 10/10 couldn't recommend enough. Nothing was too much and very accommodating hosts and the chef came to check everything was well which I thought was an amazing touch!

Wonderful food yet again. We really can’t fault this lovely little family run restaurant. Pate is to die for, steak melts in the mouth and a beautiful creamy crème brûlée with burnt sugar crispy top is just the best. Keep up the good work guys

Lovely kind family, run restaurant. Varied menu and food delicious and well presented. Intimate and pleasant ambience. Definitely will revisit if we can.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. The place is quirky, but cosy. However, regarding the food, we found the starter portions very small. The Calamari was very chewy and the Crab Tarts were luke warm and the pastry was burnt. The good news, was the steaks for the main course were delicious, as were the accompanying chips. The lemon sole was a little bland, but this portion size was acceptable. The Crème Boulais were burnt on the top and although quite nice, we were eating bits of undissolved sugar in it. The two of us who had the crab tarts were ill on returning home. Taking into consideration the above comments, we thought £145 per couple (we included a tip) for the three courses, one bottle of wine and a gin each, was quite expensive.

We had a fabulous meal. We booked in main because of the google reviews which were spot on. The menu choices are small which is perfect for me as too much choice makes it so difficult to actually choose. There were four of us and two small dogs! We had all three courses and all the food was beyond excellent. The star of the menu was the fillet steak which was the best my father in law had ever had and he’s in his seventies! The lovely front of house staff are so welcoming. We will be returning.

Visited last year...and again this year as the service and food were outstanding. The same this year...best restaurant in the area by far... unpretentious yet faultless service, the most welcoming of hosts. Good choice of food, perfectly cooked and superbly presented. Well worth a visit!

An outstanding little gem just outside Padstow. The food was extremely tasty and presented beautifully. My duck was out of this world. The family who run this restaurant make you feel welcome and really look after you from start to finish and nothing is true much trouble. Definitely going back next time we are back in St Merryn.

This small family run restaurant was such a lucky find! The atmosphere was perfect, the background music just right, and the staff so welcoming… and that’s before I start on the food! Absolutely delectable! I rarely order a steak out (and usually regret it) but here it was perfect. My brother said the chips were better than Rick Stein’s (in neighbouring Padstow) and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals from starter to dessert. Highly recommend.

The Ivy House, a restaurant that we have driven past many many times on route to or route from Padstow, every time saying we must have a meal there but never actually doing anything about it. Well that error has now been rectified, tonight we visited and had the most wonderful meal, the restaurant is a delight to be in, the hosts friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere relaxed and the food was superb.
