( REVIEW Update-Feb 2024; It's actually hit & miss here sometimes it's great but more often so lately it's not ..the last three or four times it's been greasy VERY greasy and horrible overcooked rubbery or hard chips I end up throwing half a bag away as they are inedible it's just pure grease and afterwards you feel sick They pre make the food and it sits there for hours. I really like the people who own this and I feel bad saying it but I won't ever Be returning as it's actually disgusting lately and I always feel like I've wasted my money and feel sick and bloated If you want the best fish & chips there are two amazing ones 10 mins away in newlyn.) such a great taste of the batter and the only Fish I've found in Cornwall that remove the black skin so I was immediately impressed..I had a Large Cod Large Chips and the price was a lot better than others the size was big and perfect white fish was top quality and not likely fresh it's still got so much flavour the batter was amazing and lots of little bits of batter in with the chips and they do slush puppies. The staff/owners all very happy positive and welcoming very quick service very happy overall. My only gripe is the chips were super greasy I don't even want to make a negative remark as it's so tasty but the oil needs changing as some chips were nuked. But still they almost all got eaten just needs that one thing sorted and it's flawless. Will definitely be returning. 10/10 Definitely recommend you try these before anyone else-

A lovely family run shop with some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had😍, a good old fashioned homely fish and chips without the faff. The family running it were so genuinely lovely and friendly.

I’ve never been more disappointed with a portion of fries in my life. They were soggy, oily, not crispy, and it felt like they gave us the left overs that have been in the fryer for a while. I just got the standard fries option but they absolutely were not worth £2.50

The food smelled like old, burnt oil. If you want diarrhea, come here. I do not recommend.

Best fish & chips we've had in England, so far. Definitely the friendliest server/cashier we've met...at fish&chips. Big thick piece of fish and a TON of fries. A bit oily but it's expected...being deep fried 💁‍♀️ Takeout only for us because dine-in is closed now... Fish & chips at the waterfront 😉 😉 Definitely, coming back to work through their menu. 😋

Delicious fresh fish and chips with gravy and beans. The fish was cooked to perfection, lovely white flaky cod. Chips were delicious too! Great price and lovely people!

Ordered a fish and chips through the hatch on a Friday, the most friendly man served me and offered my dogs some fish!! Great portions, gorgeous food and amazing service, so quick and so friendly. 100% be back :)

Great classic cod n chips, big portions,competitive price, not greasy and piping hot plus lovely owners\servers. My 12yr old looks forward to every Friday dinner time trip down to the Seaview 🙂

Me and my partner went there last night and both ordered Place, chips and curry sauce. The fish was some on the nicest that we've ever had. They have a great menu with lots if specials. The service was great, super friendly staff. We just wish that we had found this chippy at the start of out holiday rather than at the end.

Had cod and chips with curry on Friday 13th October and it was awful. Had takeout from here before and it was fine. This time, dreadful. Really greasy and the batter was horrible. Fish was fine. Asked for scraps ( batter bits) and the bag they were put in was almost see-through with grease. The curry sauce was almost solid. My stomach was upset and nauseous afterwards, so sadly,won't be returning which is a shame.

Passed by this fish and chip shop and decided that was for dinner - aren't we glad!! The cod was beautiful, so much fish beautifully cooked! The curry sauce 5* - curry sauce varies sso much, but this one, top draw, best I've had in a long time. The mushy peas also great and the chips were good. My partner had a double cheese burger, which was a little overcooked, but tasty. Reasonable pricing! We would definitely return, if we return that way and fancy chips! Just had cod and chips, the cod was covered in oil, and when cutting it open It was like rubber must have been mircowaved, then fried Don't go there

Was the first time getting a take away from this place. We were highly satisfied! Best selling point is the staff, so kind and smiley! They gave a sausage to my dog to keep him happy while we waited. Definitely be back!

Take away. De vis was erg lekker! De friet/chips daarentegen slap en doorweekt. Wat volgens mij zo hoort, alleen de zout en de azijn proefde ik er niet op waardoor de slappe friet niet fijn was. Door de reviews had ik veel meer van deze plek verwacht, er zijn betere plekken om fish and chips te eten in cornwall. Service was wel erg vriendelijk.

I really wanted to like this. However, the chips were soggy with dark orange oil dripping from the paper. The fish batter was crispy on top and I was able to eat most of it but in the end it was a bit too greasy for my tastes. I'm not gonna lie but I've had better fish and chips made by expats in the states. I think if the oil was changed a bit more often that would help a bunch.

Great fish and chips its the other side of town but worth it as the fish and chips are very good and it's prices are very reasonable. . My favourite and must have item is the fish cakes they make themselves .. lots of herbs fish and a good bit of pepper they are very unique and a must to try. Last time I went I noticed they had updated the decoration outside and had new lighting in the shop... looks good

Absolutely rotten, chips were so soggy and dripping of grease fish was exactly the same threw it straight in the bin. It was like they poured the oil on top of the food once it was cooked. Avoid unless you want to vomit

Unfortunately they were prepacked which made them very soggy and greasy also needed reheating before eating not great

Great sized portions, lovely staff, worth a visit

Lovely food and quick service. Chatty guy serving, nice and friendly. Very small shop and served through a large hatch, not a problem as no queue when I went and not raining 🙂 There's no parking I could see, one person parked up on the pavement and we had to chance it 9n double yellows round the corner. Maybe if we were local we would know somewhere better to park, but as on holiday and dark at the time we just winged it. Definitely worth a visit if you're hungry, food is highly recommended.

We fancied fish & chips and searched in Google to find one. Excellent service & Friendly Staff. Fish & chips were delicious, proper chip shop chips too 😋 We had Fish & Chips in St Ives a few days ago and I found the Seaview Fish & Chip Shop better. Reasonable prices too. Would recommend to family & friends when they come to Penzance.

Bought some fish and chips on 14/9/22 and really enjoyed the fresh food.. Great customer service and value for money.. I’m only in area for a few days, and will definitely come back again in the future..

Came upon this little fish and chip by chance, right up the top of a fairly steep hill. It was like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow 🌈. Ordered cod, chips and curry sauce and it was absolutely delicious 😋. Fish was lovely and white and flaky, plenty of nice chips. Very reasonably priced too 👌

First time using this chip shop and I honestly will never go back. Ordered sausage and chips and it is the smallest portion of chips I have ever had in my life. Rip off.

Excellent cod and chips for £6.50. Lovely batter. Took a bit of finding as it is a little distance from the sea front. Head up the hill from the Premier Inn to locate

Not one to complain much, but what i received was an absolute embarrassment.Super thick soggy batter, skin left on the fish an whoever filleted the fish couldn't be bothered to check to see if there was any bones left in the fillet.And for £8 you'd think you would get a decent portion of chips but only had a small handful.Now i know why there was no que.On the plus side the can of coke was nice.

I was expecting good things from this takeaway, from the previous reviews. First impressions were not bad. Service was through the front windows, rather than in the shop, and this was appropriate given COVID precautions. The staff inside were cheerful and friendly. Service was also very quick. I was given a choice of cod or haddock as being the best offerings, I chose haddock and chips. I was asked my preferences for salt/vinegar and these were followed. However, when I got my meal home, although it was hot, I was disappointed by the quantity of both the fish - a rather slim haddock fillet surrounded by a huge amount of batter, as well as the quality of the chips - which were rather overcooked (as mentioned in a previous low star review). Given the amount of fish and chips that were just sitting in the fryer waiting for customers, maybe the latter outcome, in particular, was not surprising. I would return, as the meal was filling, but only if there was no better alternative on offer.

I had an excellent haddock and chips from here, fantastic chips and the fish was tender, delicious and perfect batter. Staff are welcoming and the service was rapid and friendly.

A fantastic local chippy. We came here in the winter, she popped the fire on and made us a steaming pot of tea. Bliss!

Great little fish and chip shop, haven't been here for years but still hasn't changed, it's still lovely and will defo come again the next time I'm in Penzance. Didn't get fish this time as didn't fancy it but had it many many times before and it's always nice. Had cheesy chips, garlic mushrooms, cod roe, cheeseburger and chips with a fish cake and battered sausage. It's was all nice and cost about £20 so wasn't bad at all. Out of all the fish and chip shops in Penzance, this is one of the good ones and I'd recommend it when visiting here.

One of the best fish & chips ever tried. Small, local but definitely worthy to pop in and order. It's amazing and his chips WoooW! Like always - eat when locals eat! If it's possible to get 10*, not being ashamed!

Lovely fish and chips, i had never used before. Would recommend giving them a go.

Bit disappointing needs abit more care abs attention to the building and needs more organising the fish and chips was very dark in colour which was due to the fryer oil needing to be cleaned and replaced was very tasty due to the oil chips was very dry ans fish i had to pass after the first bite. Hopefully things improve on my next visit 2021.

Normally my favourite chippy but yesterdays was quite disappointing chips where nice but the fish was incredibly dry and the batter was chewy maybe it was a one off it was my first for an entire year. By normally five star's to them.

Amazing fish and chips, would recommend the pollock and the chips are real crunchy as well as the fish batter. Tidy little family run business, reasonably priced. Amidst the numerous fish and chip places in Penzance, Seaview is most definitely a special find. Very tasty, fresh and conveniently located chippy for the train station and all at great value! Highly recommended, staff very friendly and in good spirits.

Fish and chips. At least 8 fish to chose from . 10 differant fish tonight. We had the cod and chips.excellent. resturant a bit dated but clean.

When we called here the fish and chips were tasty and the staff were very friendly, the only problem we had, was finding somewhere to park near the chippy. We will definitely return to the Seaview next time we are in the area.

It is rare for me to eat fish and chips but i make a exception for the sea view. I havnt been here for a number of years but find it still the best around run by the same people. Nice to see pollack megrim and mackerel on the menu which is new.

Genuinely great fish and chips and good prices too - especially given that the chips are cooked in a light batter which makes them wonderfully crispy! I would thoroughly recommend.

I have been going here on holiday for many years and its always very good, just plain and simple good fish and chips that wont disappoint. Don't bother trying anywhere else just come here.

Just brought food here. Was told i wasnt allowed salt and vinegar. And chios are like 6 days old re fried in dry oil about 6 in a whole portion are actually chewable. Asked for cod and its not cod thinknits haddock tastes vile as cooked in same oil as battered sausage and chips. Also had a microeave pie. Microwaved for 15 mins nearly. Do not reccomend. Ibwould take the food back but bot going to due to heing so angry amd discusted.

We are staying in Penzance for the Winter and it is such a treat to have a fish and chip supper from Seaview. The fish is superb and seems extra special when eaten in this seaside town. The staff are super friendly and although my husband is veggie there is always the spring rolls, cheese balls or pea fritters and chips of course!

Having lived in Penzance for many a year I can say that these are the best fish and chips around. I do sometimes dabble elsewhere but always find myself returning here. The food is great and the staff friendly and always make you feel welcome. For something different try their cheesy-balls.
