The cod was one of the best I've ever had. The chips were not quite as good but still very tasty. Very impressed.

Loaded fries are amazing! Recommend southern fried chicken, peppercorn sauce, onions and peppers with cheese! Cod bites are massive even for the kids meal!!! Brilliant Chips taste lovely. A lovely outlet. Staff are very friendly also!!

Brilliant staff , so cheerful, helpful and down to earth. Best value for money by far, tastier than Stien's and half the price! No brainer I'm won over 😁💜

We stopped here on our way home from Heigan Gardens today 21/9 /23 We had the regular cod chips and curry sauce we were not disappointed there are the best we have had for a long time big quantities of chips nice size fish and a warming curry sauce. We highly recommend this place with it excellent service and friendly staff and look forward to returning again soon. 5 Stars all the way Thank you. Peter and Jayne.

On the recommendation of someone who had had lovely chips there we thought on Friday evening we'd not go to our usual place and try them. Never again. The large chips were a decent portion size but they were limp and they must have requested potatoes only with eyes in them. The cod fish flakes were almost mushy, not much taste and the batter looked like something you would make at home, badly. It was thick and floury. The batter was very greasy. The regular size fish was a good portion but the small was laughable. My daughter did enjoy her chicken chuncks despite them being in the same yucky batter. I'm not the sort of person who leaves negative feedback but this is a warning to others and hopefully the chip shop will read this too. We had 2 large chips, 2 regular cod, 2 small cod and a portion of chicken chunks. It was just shy of £42. It was worth about half of that. We'll be back at Holmbush next time.

Quite expensive for a chippy, we read good reviews and were looking forward to fish and chips, I figured it was worth paying a bit over the average if it's good, unfortunately the fish was a bit on the greasy side and the batter was pale, limp and flat, not the crispy, brown bubbly batter i hoped for, it was as if it had been put in cold oil. The chips were about 7.5/10 so better than average and the battered sausage was very nice (much better batter than the fish). On the plus side the portions were decent, which somewhat explains the price. Overall I wouldn't go back, the fish has to be the star of the show for me and it was a real let down. The staff were nice.

We stopped in this place last night, after having to take a detour due to an RTA. The fish was freshly cooked, although tasteless and the chips were a lukewarm soggy mess. They'd been cooked and left for what must have been ages. Shame as the lady behind the counter was very amicable and chatty, but I don't think you're going to get many customers serving almost inedible chips. The clue is in the title really, you've got 2 jobs to do and one of them you failed miserably at.

Living locally we have always enjoyed the fish and chips here but unfortunately since the takeover this is not the case. They run out of fish, they change the name, they change it back! The chips are all cooked early so they are just a soggy mess, the batter is woeful straight from a packet. The fish is simply terrible, frozen and tasteless and selling a wonderful story about fresh fish and their boats is beyond a joke We have tried on multiple times to give it a try but through up and down portion sizes, and poor quality we have finally given up! Customers have stopped coming because of this and when you go pass they are dead………we have not stopped coming because you changed the name…….so changing the name back doesn’t fix it. Serve good food we will come, serve crap food with a suspect ethos we won’t….such a shame!

I've been coming here for years, and the fish and chips are lovely, really tasty, however I will say that recently the portion sizes have decreased massively, my chips didn't even fully cover the bottom of the tray yesterday and the fish was tiny, more like a child's portion. Used to be good portion sizes here. I still felt hungry afterwards, so if you've got an appetite I would definitely go for the large portions.

Shameful that it is possible in the 21st century for a fish and chip shop to still cook everything in Beef dripping meaning no options at all for vegetarians. I'd have given no stars if possible. It's blatant discrimination and needs to change.

Googled fish and chip shops in area whilst on holiday and came across this particular shop Tonight Saturday 11/9 at 6.30 pm and based on its super reviews. I know you can’t please everyone and no one can be 100% perfect every time, so I went with an open mind hoping for the best. I rarely eat fast food, but when I do it has to impress. Well this certainly did. I felt I received the best in many ways: 1. The entire meal was cooked fresh so be patient for good things. I appreciated this and it showed in the end product. (5 -10 min wait) 2. The chips were cooked in beef dripping, delicious flavour and to perfection. Not at all greasy and for a descent amount of time. (Many other shops barely fry them that results in a pale limp greasy chip) This shop certainly knows what it’s doing. 3. The fish was in a light batter and the cod was not over cooked. Again delicious. 4. The curry sauce was perfect and as it should be. So were the mushy peas. 5. very importantly the staff were inviting, cheerful, polite and efficient. Makes a huge difference. My top tip would be to have no salt and vinegar on them and to apply your own when ready to eat for sheer perfection. Perhaps a wedge of lemon if requested would be nice! Notice advising. Thank you team for a wonderful fish and chip supper, best I’ve had in decades. Keep safe and well and may your business prosper. As a business owner you are clearly more concerned about the quality of your product and staff customer service, than your profit! As customers we really appreciated that and were thoroughly impressed.

Admittedly there can be quite a wait at times which is a little inconvenient but at least you know its being cooked fresh! However....its gone from being open 5/6 evenings a week to only being open on Friday and Saturday's. I appreciate it was probably originally because of coronavirus, but businesses are all back up and running. I know of a few people that have had to go elsewhere in the week for fish and chips,as after all,we don't all want it just on a friday or saturday

The fish and chips were some of the best I have had. Cooked fresh to order. The staff are absolutely lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Will definately visit again.

Eyes were bigger than my belly when I ordered the large cod.

We go here quite often and once again it didn’t fail, great tasting food all cooked fresh so you have to wait for 5 minutes or so but it’s well worth it. Counter staff a bit scatty but very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Sorry, but definitely not the best fish and chips I've tasted and the curry sauce was awful Had them bought for me and apologies for upsetting the owner but my review is accurate. Too much water in the curry sauce and as I said, not the best fish n chips I've tasted. I do not come into your chippy. This review process is there for a reason. If you can't handle criticism well, you're in the wrong business!

We are regular customers of Biscovey fish bar and today’s meal was, as usual, cooked to perfection. I love the cod, beautiful white flakes of fish in a light, crispy batter. Our small grandchildren loves the sausage and chips which they devoured. Hubby likes the cod but today had the battered sausage which he enjoyed too.Generous portions are the norm - one large portion of chips is more than enough for two adults and two hungry boys - the best chippy in St Austell.

We have always had amazing food from here, it's the best around. Food cooked to order so worth ringing in advance. Staff always very friendly and accommodating. Cod is delicious and flaky, chips very good too. One time we had an issue they sorted it right away.

Food cooked in beef dripping. Traditional taste. Was cooked to order. Staff were friendly and approachable. I had a nice conversation whilst I waited for the food to be cooked. The batter was crisp and everything tasted nice. Parking is in a lay-by right outside.

Wow what amazing and yummy fish and chips. I phoned our order in and collected 25 mins later. Super friendly staff. We are on holiday near here and we wished we lived closer so this could be our fish and chip shop forever

We arrived at 7:30 just as the shop was closing, but the owner cooked us to order the best fish and chips we have had since moving to Cornwall. The food was cooked to perfection and tasted lovely. The shop was very clean even though it was the end of the teatime opening. We would highly recommend a visit and we will be going back there for our fish and chips next time.

Best fish and chips around. Somebody give this place a Michelin star!!! The chips are to die for. My wife and I always go on a Wednesday and get served by a lovely lady, she is very polite and well mannered. DONT GET YOUR FISH AND CHIPS FROM ANYWHERE ELSE.

I have tried most fish and chip shops around St Austell but this is my favourite. You have to wait as they cook to order but the result is worth the wait. The staff are friendly and cheerful and the price is average. The only downside is limited opening times but not surprising as there may not be enough trade out of season. Coming from a city where the fish and chip shops stay open til after pubs shut I have been spoilt.

Great quality food and great service defiantly planning a second trip

Such an awesome place, the staff are always welcoming and the chips are perfect, they are crispy on the outside and fluffy inside and ask for small size unless you're ravenous as the portions are huge with even the small cod being a good size. This is my go to chip shop.

Excellent chips, clean and fresh; fish, burgers etc. good too. Prices reasonable. The place is clean and presided over by two extremely friendly ladies. A shame the opening hours aren't longer; and a shame it's not vegetarian-friendly. Everything is fried in beef dripping. But it tastes good!

We phoned ahead for our fish and chips and they were ready as we got there.. Good portions , nicely cooked yummy fish. We had the cod and the haddock, both were delicious. Recommended.

Well ive been struggling to get decent fish and chips in St Austell that i can get home hot for months, the search is over 10/10 lovely fat chips no bits of leathery hide like ive been getting from all the others and the chunkiest bit of fish in a light crispy batter im chuffed thanks. Well it wasn’t a 1 off either been back for more since this review, just as good again lovely light batter on my fish, this is now my new local.

BRILLIANT!!! Absolutely bloody marvellous haddock & chips. So freshly cooked that we got bumped down the queue but who cares, as the blessed Sir Terry said, 'When God made time he made plenty of it!'; it was well worth the wait. I was the geezer with the big Santa beard on Thursday Nov 1st 2018. Worth every penny.
