Worst fish and chips I have ever had. Needed a chain saw to get through the overcooked batter, chips were soggy. Sorry won't be going back, should have returned them.

Very disappointed this is the second time in 2 weeks that we have had food from here and both times it was very over cooked I had a small fish on the second visit and it was so hard I nearly broke my tooth

I ordered over their Facebook page. Fish batter was not crispy at all. Chips needed cooking more. Mushy peas, just liquid. Missed the drinks off that I ordered.

Only four stars for atmosphere cuz it's a chip shop night a night club. Lovely food and service. Will definitely be returning. Can get busy but it's worth it and a busy chip shop tells you it's good.

Great food and service, lack of parking. Pros - crunchy beef fat-fried chips, large portion, delicious curry sauce available in hot or mild, fairly priced, clean and tidy café, polite friendly staff, the coffee was nice in flavour and strength, eating in the café the staff will also go to the takeaway part as well so if any further help is needed all you have to do is tap the bell at the till, were happy to provide box for remaining food as we were too full to eat and were able to take it away to finish later. Cons - no parking so if you do takeaway you will need to park on double yellow lines. If eating in the café/restaurant use Aldi's car park but make sure you buy something from them first and check the time so you don't overstay and risk a penalty.

Placed my order over the counter. When I got home there were 2 items missing. Had to go back to collect them. On no occasion was offered an apology. Not on phone or in the shop.

Fourth time running with an entire meal missing from my order, and they take absolutely ages to re-deliver. Staff are extremely rude, no common courtesy. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

We often have food from Kaths and it is always a good, fresh, hot meal. The food is freshly cooked and can get busy at times, but I am willing to wait on these occasions for good quality food.

Unfortunately the staff were extremely rude. I've visited this place lots of times and it really varies on how you get treated and how the food is. There isn't any consistency. When the food is good it really is lovely fish and chips, but the last time the fish was greasy and the chips weren't cooked enough. That could be because I got there around 15mins before closing and they clearly didn't want to be there. They were so rude, the younger staff wouldn't even acknowledge me and I had to say thank you 3 times before she would even look up at me. The owner kept on looking at the clock, especially when a gentleman came in and ordered. She huffed at the fact that he came in 5 mins before closing. It's such a shame because this attitude from them seems to be happening more and more.

Great tasting both the fish and chips.. rarely do i find a chippy where both the fish and the chips taste really good..They do here.. cooked and served just like fish and chips was back in the day when they were cooked in dripping and wrapped in paper..

Large Cod & Chips, £12. Decent chips and nice tasting fish, but batter could be more crunchy, also fish was about half the size of when I get large at my local chippy. Expected better from a place so close to the coast and fishing ports. Expensive for what you get.

Went to this choppy on the back a recommendation plus the reviews. The fish was disgusting,chips just ok . We spent over £70 & no one ate very much as the fish was cold & greasy and the over cooked batter was sticking to the paper. I’m still suffers this morning. Avoid this poor excuse for a chippy and take your business anywhere !

Phoned order for delivery. 2 lge cod & chips, cod roe & kids nuggets meal. Staff were great, great customer service skills. Food delivered promptly & steaming hot. Fish was lovely & fresh in a light batter. Enormous pile of chips which were cooked to perfection in beef dripping, i believe. Very moreish! All in all i give 10/10. I even called them back later to tell them how great it was! I recommend this chippy to everyone!

The best chips I’ve had ever! Perfect! Good timing aswell, we use Deliveroo a lot only to order our fish and chips! Never one have we been disappointed, even tried the garlic mushrooms and wow they are good! Haddock is good , chicken is good! Not dry like many can be. PERFECT PERFECT !! Love love love! Highly recommend!! Don’t even hesitate! Order some lovely chips ! You won’t be disappointed

The staff are very friendly and have a smile on their faces and the chips are excellent, the sausage was very tasty. The staff are kind and helpful and polite. I recommend this chippy to everyone that wants something to eat. The reason why I put 5 star rating is because the chip is always clean and tidy and clear menu to see and the prices are very affordable.

Frozen fish and disgusting batter, I couldn't even manage one mouth full had to spit it out just turned to a watery mush and the batter tasted like it was cooked in oil that was a month old, first and last time

Absolutely delicious rang and ordered in advance and my husband collected so had no idea what to expect. Such a huge portion i couldnt finish it all. Very tasty fish n chips which is high praise as im from a seaside town in Yorkshire 5 stars

We have lots of chip shops here in Cornwall. Some are even in the top 20, but this place should be at number 1! Hands down the best chips, fish and peas I've ever tasted. Of course this is a personal opinion, but every single time I have had food from here, it's always been top notch. Thanks to all staff for what you've done for us all throughout the Covid pandemic.

Over the years we have often stopped in town to get fish and chips from here when it was called 'The Galley', and it's always been fantastic. This was the first time we have visited this chip shop since it became 'Kath's Plaice'. The service was great, very friendly and polite, shop was very clean and tidy with a great menu to choose from at reasonable prices, and the portions of chips were huge. All sounds great, but...... ...And here's the reason for the two star rating. When we got the food home and sat down to eat, everything had a very strange taste to it that we could not work out what it was, and then when we looked at the menu in more detail, we figured out what it was. It appears that they now fry EVERYTHING in beef dripping! Even the veggie burgers! Now I understand that for some people this would not be a problem, but for us the fact that everything was tainted with the beef fat taste just ruined the meal entirely. I've been buying fish and chips for over 30 years and never have I known any chip shop use beef dripping in the fryers. Alas to say that we will not be using Kath's plaice again.

Ordered a large fish & chips and I was not disappointed! Beautiful piece of fish and the batter is lovely. The large chips I'd expect would feed 4 adults so a very good portion! Nice to talk to while waiting and a very reasonable price. Very pleased 5*
