Seagull Fish Bar in Shropshire

We always use this place when in Bridgnorth. The cod and chips are great - so good that we don’t eat fish and chips when we’re at home and wait until our ‘next’ visit to Bridgnorth to have them there. The curry sauce has its own unique flavour too but it tastes sooooo nice!

We ordered the fish and chip special that’s on an offer and the food was excellent. Not greasy or soggy but a fair portion. Worth trying

Seagulls has always been my favourite chippy. Staff are pleasant and I enjoy supporting a local business. Previous meals over the years have always been fresh and both battered and ‘normal’ chips delicious. However, on three consecutive occasions now, the standard has been poor. Chips seem reheated and soggy, battered chips soggy and leave congealed lard on the plate as they’re so greasy. Curry sauce and again appeared to have been sat for some time or reheated. Dinner ended up in the bin as the meal was unfortunately, inedible. Please sort this out and get back to Seagulls normal high standards.

Popped in during the 1940s weekend on the Severn Valley for some traditional fish and chips. You always take a chance when trying a new chip shop but oh my, did this place deliver! Friendly service and super efficient but the food is the star of the show! Gorgeous fish and chips, cooked exactly as it should be. Nice thin and crispy batter on a juicy piece of fish and chip perfection! Can't think of anywhere I've had better and definitely rivals The Black Country Museum and Hooked on Fish which are some big hitters in the Black Country! 10/10 fabulous!

Extremely pleasant staff, ordered and food soon delivered to our table. Adequate portion size , hot and tasty. The cod was thick white and flakey. Reasonably priced. Would revisit.

Ordered by phone was really busy when went to collect but really nice young guy sorted our takeaway straight away very friendly great food 😊

Last two visits in as many weeks have been very disappointing. Curry sauce contained large congealed lumps, chips had not been freshly cooked and scrapped from the bottom of the tray. Fish was chewy and rubbery. Both times the same member of staff serving me wasn't interested in serving- my order was incorrect and couldn't be noticed because the price wasn't declared before presenting the card machine to tap card for payment. Such a shame because it used to be a lovely chippy.

Fantastic fish and chips, some of the best chips I have ever had, crispy on the outside nice and fluffy on the inside, the cod and batter were excellent, the fish was same size as the batter, so many establishment make the fish look bigger by putting too much batter on, not here, lovely and light batter, that was crisp, and tasty, this is how fish and chips should be served. they provided many takeaways for us, as we were travelling on The Severn Valley railway, 2 full crates, for around 30 diners, were ready on time, and were still piping hot on receipt at Bridgnorth station.

Do not use this fish and chip shop. My wife and I visited Bridgnorth on Friday 28th April and called in for a fish and chip lunch. We sat and eat them in the car and could only eat less than half. I only manage to reach home before having to visit the loo, and both of us where unwell for the rest of the day and I was also unwell on Saturday. I have no proof but if believe they severed us reheated fish and chips from the day before. An all too popular trick of trade.

Staying just around the corner so dropped in on the evening for fish and chips and chicken and chips.Very friendly staff and prompt service.Menu offers a lot of choices and specials.Portions are quite big and the food was delicious. Will definitely call again.

The worst customer service I've ever received...as a solo customer I was told after I'd ordered the minimum spend is now £10 for card payment...the young lady abruptly asked if I'd not got cash...unfortunately I hadn't...I was then lectured on how card machines and businesses work lol...I'm 60 years old and have my own business in the town...all I asked was she gave feedback to the owners as to my disappointment at the ridiculous £10 card limit for someone on their own. I've used this shop for many years...I won't be spending my money in there again sadly. If I could give a minus score for customer service it would be my pleasure. ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING

Sorry I have to leave a bad review but I have never had such horrible chips covered in oil and undercooked Midday on a sat not busy so no excuse children would not even eat them Curry sauce watery 1 of 3 battered sausages was done that much you could not eat it Shame as people seem nice and place looks good But for my experience total waste of £15 now if to a pub to feed family as didn’t eat this

Popped in to the seagull fish bar while in Bridgnorth and what a great meal we had , ordered pie& Chips , Sausage & Chips and Donner bap and chips and all lovely and well cooked , no extra to eat in , clean and tidy although its up a few steps so might not be suitable for all will definitely visit again when in Bridgnorth

The worst we have even eaten from anywhere. My piece of fish was 4 fork fulls of fish half of that a brown colour and 1 inch thick of uncooked soggy vile batter which I couldn’t eat and to top it all some of the chops where green. Don’t bother.

First time ,wet fish under the batter not cooked enough. Second time ordered a kerbab, I told the chap no spice 3 times when I got home my wife couldn't eat it too spicy , did he not understand. Large chips always too many not last night cut the portions down. What shame our favourite chip shop gone to pot.

lived in quatford 18 months first time in here what have i been missing just had fish chips and peas and a kebab and chips lovely food ordered by phone ready when got there 100% going back.

The most popular chip shop in Bridgnorth without a doubt. Plenty of staff so short queues. A lage choice including 3 kebab meats with a fast turn over nothing sits in the warmers long. Mini cod and chips with mushy peas plus large chicken kebab £11 both really nice thats why we make it our regular haunt.

Had 2x haddock and chips . The haddock had a very strong ammonia smell to it and filled the car. We took it home to eat and the smell was worse when we unwrapped . Very off putting . The fish was dry and feathery not moist . We threw it away after asking others where we were staying if they thought it was off too . They did . I telephoned and a woman said “ yes the haddock feed on a weed in the sea from spring to about now ( June ). So it makes the fish smell weedy . My fish smelt of strong ammonia , which as a cook - I am taught that this means the fish is most likely on the turn . A waste of money and have never eaten haddock which smelt of this at ANY time of the year . The car still stank the following morning . . And I have never had this explanation pedalled to me . No offer of a replacement and no refund . Basically , get off the phone we’re busy . we won’t return .

I asked for a small cod, thank goodness! It was huge. It was cooked fresh and so had not been sitting in the heater for ages. The shop was covid aware and the staff friendly. Goodness know how big a large cod is! The premises were clean, light and airy. Oh, lovely chips by the way.

Probably the best chippy in town. Very friendly and helpful staff, very efficient service ..There may be a long queue but it won't take long to be served. And the quality of the fish and chops is second to none with plenty of choice and variety.Don't miss it if you need a good meal with great service .

Wasn’t impressed fish was greasy, pie was dry, chips weren’t good, there wasn’t anybody coming back for seconds

Was looking for a fish & chip restaurant and this was the one I found. Had haddock and chips. Fish was cooked to order and fine. Chips were a bit anemic and would have benefited from longer in the fryer. Nothing wrong with the food, but I have had a lot better for less. Also, the place is cash only, so beware!

Always eat here whew in the area and this time decided to eat in the restaurant I had pie chips and peas wife had fish chips curry sauce and son had battered sausage and chips Quality not up to normal standards had to ask for another sausage as the one served was tough and rubbery chips were a bit hit and miss when a freshly cooked sausage arrived there was chips with it which wasn't expected so good marks for that just today not up to the usual standard

Nice Fish + Chip shop near the town centre. Good range of food options - kebabs are also available. Friendly staff and quick service, even during busy periods. Generous servings of chips. Clean establishment. Off street parking available on the other side of the road in pay and display car park. Reliable quality.

We wouldn't go anywhere else despite it being a little further than our nearest chippy. Staff are always friendly and food is always good. My wife loves their veggie burgers and we both like the slightly unhealthier battered chips they do too. The specials and meal deals are good value.

Basic chippie! Chips were a bit soggy and to be honest somewhat greasy. Not the best, but not the worst either. Cheapish and relatively cheerful depending on which server you get.

Best F & C in town. Huge cod crisp delicious batter cooked to perfection, excellent tasty chips. Staff friendly good service. What’s not to like? My favourite for a naughty treat.

When people ask me where i use for fish and chips i always say the seagull and then have to defend it while they tell me how bad they think it is, well not any anymore I've had enough. I normally use this place but the last few visits the quality of the food has been poor, then tonight they just lied to my face. After waiting for 20 minutes to order I asked for battered chips with our order twice, they were doing them as I saw some being served. It was busy so I was moved from the counter while they served others so I didn't see them do mine and when they bagged them I double checked "are they battered chips" yes she said. I got home to find you guessed it no battered chips. Not happy.

While visiting new friends in this beautiful town of Bridgnorth it was obvious to locals that the SEAGULL was the best for miles for Fish and Chips.

Its a good fish and chip shop! That's probably all you really need to know. They sell Fish, Chips, Sausages, Chicken, Pies, Mushrooms, Burgers, Pickled Onions, Ketchup etc etc etc but NO Seagulls. Cooked well, served well, clean, popular - big car park opposite so parking shouldn't be a problem either.

Cuando estamos cerca de Bridgnorth siempre terminamos aquí nuestro té y luego conducir y aparcar al lado del río para comer. Siempre comida suficiente para satisfacer que Joe. Personal femenino siempre agradable atm los hombres parecen un poco abrupto. Al final de la mosca, la comida es estupenda.

Try the batted chips with your fish in the loverly market town of Bridgnorth , we sat in the restaurant for our dinner which was very good and a great price , the staff are very nice and helpful , you get a free drink with your meal , cola , tea coffee ect , the portions are large and you defiantly will not come away feeling hungry , they also serve chicken , cod row and other foods for children , this is a place that welcomes children and is open at weekends , you will see a lot of railway men there buying there lunch and taking away back to the Severn Valley Steam Railway , give it ago you will not be disappointed .

Tuve una comida para llevar durante una concurrida noche de viernes. Tuvimos pescado, patatas fritas y guisantes con mantequilla blanda. El bateador en el pescado estaba muy gruesas y secas, como consecuencia no comer todo el bateador, sólo comimos el pescado. Estaba deseando las patatas...

Por lo que sospecho que el servicio chocante era el director, era muy grosera y no modales! Ella era tratar a sus empleados muy mal y hablando con ellos irrespetuosamente! De hecho me sentí pena por las dos chicas! Para rematar el pescado era gris dentro y también patatas fritas donde muy grasosa, el único aspecto positivo fue la salsa de curry que estaba muy bien, aparte de la salsa todo lo demás fue una decepción enorme! ! !

Can't go wrong here for fish and chips. No frills you just get what you pay for and jolly good it is too (chip servings are enormous).

Always stop off here for fish and chips after a visit to Bridgnorth: freshly cooked and not pricey (a standard portion of chips is enough for us to share).

What a great find this was! Wandering around Bridgnorth I stumbled across the Seagull. Lovely fish and chips (the kid's size was more than enough for me!). Too bad that there wasn't any Diet Coke or even a glass to drink it from but I would still return for the service with a smile I received. Good work!

Pleasantly surprised to find this chip shop had new management, hadn't been for a while so didn't know, the place has had a complete makeover, the staff were very pleasant and we were served quickly we ate in the restaurant part, you order at the counter and it is then brought to you, excellent fish and chips straight out of the fryer so were nice and hot and not battered chips thank goodness. Definitely go again.

visited this chip shop for first time (maybe last too) and was disappointed. Shop was busy at time of visit that was good as we got fresh n hot chips .thumbs up for that. Shop looks fairly new and is very clean, another plus point.on negative side, two guys look like owners to me were busy talking didnt even greet as you walked past them. Girl who served us was good in customer service. we ordered large chips but when we opened bag were disappointed to find the portion .Large portion looked like medium size to me .if that is their usual large size ( that is actually regular) i cant see i am going their again .

Often visit the seagull and never had any problems, this particular time I ordered the chicken naan it was bigger than I thought it would be, my children have the kids meals and are always happy with them

Just been to fetch my tea as I do every Wednesday but tonight there was a weight and I managed to get a parkin ticket. The guy who owns it gave me the money for the fine there and then as he said it was his fault for making me wait. Can't thank him enough! And the chips are always delicious

I found the fryer was too busy watching the staff, taking orders, watching the customers, to concentrate on his own job. Small portions, no bread and butter, tea in cardboard cups, not very well cooked.

Call in on way back from day out to eat by the river. Greasy fish not looking fresh and white. Will call at other places in bridgenorth next time and review with better results next time

Used to be really nice until the new owners taken over. Chips are very greasy and you hit the jackpot if they are hot. The battered sausages are nice, again if you get hot ones. They do 'orange chips' which are nice over the black country, but this are wide of the mark. Saving grace is the staff are lovely.

We arrived here at 8.00pm having had a small Christmas beverage or two. The owner kindly opened the seating area for us and though we all had different dishes, everything was freshly cooked and delicious. The staff were helpful and courteous and all in all made ourselves evening a pleasure!

this evening we decided to go to the seagull for tea, which is normal very very good.we asked for 2 southern fried chicken two burgers and a kabab burger. when i got home after driving seven mile we started to put the food out to find we were given chicken wings so thought never mind will just eat our food. not long after my partner finds a very long hair in his burger which made him sick so he chucked his food away.we thought if we ring them we can just make them aware of what we have found etc but when the answered we got the reply of were only selling wings tonight (but there was no sign to say this)and can you bring the hair you have found please so i can send t off for testing to see if its from my staff (no sorry its in the bin now with the rest of the food)then the lovely man put the phone down on me.definatley wont be going there again !!!!

This use to be the best fish and chips and town, but after being taken over by new management it has gone downhill. The portion sizes are small and overpriced. The cod we ordered was long and thin...Vietnamese eel?? It was definitely NOT cod, very chewy texture and odd shape. Will not be returning, the fish here needs to be investigated.

Stopped here with my girlfriend on our way through B'north.Really delicious well priced food, the lady serving was really polite and professional talking us through the best deals and always smiling.Go to this place it's really clean, can sit in or take out and there is parking right on the door step.

Since moving to Bridgnorth we have discovered this place and they probably serve the best fish and chips we've ever had anywhere!

Easily Bridgnorths best but one star lost because the management do not comment on these reviews. Good chips and good portion.A pleasant change and complete opposite to nearby scruffy Highley Grill which lets Bridgnorth down.Recently completely refurbished and was closed for awhile, I thought it was closed down- a notice on the window explaining what was going on would have been considerate, this ommision coupled with management not commenting on these reviews suggests to me that the management here have a poor understanding of customer service

Called in after going to the cinema with my step mom and step brother. We heard then place had been shut for a revamp so we called to see what it was like. Lovly new chips (think they were called Mexican style?) couldn't complain on the food portion either. And the lady who served us was very nice and very helpful! We didn't know what the Mexican chips were like and she said we could try some, a lovely gesture! And all the staff made sure our order was correct and would recommend!!!!

We've used Seagull's a dozen times when visiting family. Very nice staff and the food is of excellent quality. Usually visit at peak time, and the service is quick and staff are prepared for the demand of fish and chips! From my experiences, I cannot fault.

Friendly service and reasonably priced. Excellent portions! It was a shame they had ran out of curry sauce but as they were supposed to be closing at 6pm (it was New Year's Day) and we didn't go in until 6:15. We were just pleased to still be served!
