Seacroft in Weymouth and Portland

Really wouldn’t rate this place. Offered no kids menu at all. Food was bland without much flavour. Takeaway menu was really limited. Food was ready very quickly but the server was pretty rude.

Worst fish and chips we've had in Weymouth..ordered at counter and sat upstairs, had to get up and get the food from the corner of the counter at top of stairs. Served in polystyrene box along with wooden knife and forks, chips pale and greasy with lots of black on them..probably rotten potatoes.All this for £10.95 each definitely not worth it Wood not recommend !

Not nice fish, not nice chips and no atmosphere what so ever. Take my advice and go elsewhere

On way back to station we stopped to get cod and chips and scampi and chips to eat on the train. Only a short wait but me and my son were not happy when we opened the cartons at the station. No salt and vinegar as requested, the chips were mostly small and very dry although hot. My fish was well battered but too greasy to eat and the fish itself was not flaky as it should be. It had been prepared fresh on order but not left to get rid of the grease. I cannot recommend spending £21 on this meal, a waste of money for poor quality food.

Had chips from here on Saturday whilst visiting the area. I had battered sausage & chips, that were cooked to perfection, really good batter on the sausage. I also had curry sauce that wasn't the watery rubbish you get in a lot of chip shops. Tasted good also. The wife just had chips and was really pleased with them and the kids enjoyed their saveloy and chips. Being a seaside resort there is quite a few chip shops to choose from and maybe there is better, but definitely happy we just randomly stopped at this one and would highly recommend. The seating area was closed but was a perfect evening to cross the road and sit on the seafront benches and would probably of still done that if seating area open as surely that's part of a seaside getaway

Great spot to sit and look over the beach very peaceful spot for lunch. Staff were absolutely lovely very helpful the whole Time and the food was delicious.

Best salt and pepper in Weymouth

We have to say that we had the best ever fish and chips here. The cod was beautiful, amazing in fact and the batter perfect. Well flavoured and well cooked chips, great mushy peas and curry sauce. The service was spot on, couldn't fault anything at all.

Staff extremely rude, not very child friendly. Fish and Chips not the best we have experienced in Weymouth (Bennetts was much better quailty and friendlier) Also, absolutely soaked in vinegar and way too much salt. Disappointed won't eat here again.

Lovely, cooked to order fish and chips that we ate on the seafront. Whilst we were waiting for our food, a lady that had just been served unfortunately fell over outside the shop, banging her face and dropping her fish and chips. Whilst we were helping her up and making sure she was OK, the gentleman behind the counter had already started making her a replacement order free of charge. That is the sort of kindness the world needs more of! ❤️

Sat at one of the tables in the entrance, the lady who served us was lovely. Order 2 x senior fish & chips, peas and cup of tea. 1 child’s sausage, chips and beans and one adult fish & chips. Plenty of food for the 5 of us to share. Children enjoying the slushy. Good value.

Had a takeaway from here and ate on a seafront bench on a lovely sunny day 👌, we had cod (skinless) chips and jumbo sausage . Reasonable prices and good quality food .would definitely recommend 👍

Fancied chips and curry sauce to eat sitting on the esplanade. Disappointed because chips were lukewarm and the curry sauce very salty, thick and gloopy.

Inexpensive cafe near the city beach. Fast service, English cuisine, non-alcoholic drinks. The only thing I didn't like was the smells from the kitchen going into the hall. And so everything is ok. You can order food from the window on the street, or inside the establishment. Portions are quite large. But for example, no vegetables were given to Fish and Chips, although there are some in the photo of previous reviews.

Me and my daughter shared fish, chips, sausage, curry sauce and mushy peas here on Saturday. The food was excellent. We eat fish and chips a lot and have had some dire meals elsewhere. The first impression is always good when you look and can see the food on the hot hold looks quality, and the batter tasted as good as it looked, spot on. I’m reticent to use a chip shop where I haven’t seen the batter first after a couple of terrible experiences with non fresh batter or mums gone to Iceland moments in other restaurants. We sat in and the prices were not the cheapest but the tastiest food rarely is and the cost of running a business like this on the sea front, with expensive food prices and staff costs must be extraordinary. Not only was the food tasty but the girls serving were also very attentive and helpful. Bringing us what we needed, I’m not sure that the people leaving the bad reviews had food from the same restaurant it is hard to find on Google and the chips etc were top class. The building is right on the front and also does takeaway. Ignore any bad reviews from our experience the chip shop was fantastic.

Terrible! Rubberised fish, reheated chips, Tasteless, dry beans, bland chicken burger which was merely a bun and a cheap breaded chicken piece. Most of it went in the bin. Avoid at all costs!!!

Fast friendly service great fish and chips cooked fresh.

We wanted fish & chips to takeaway so I ordered from the kiosk at the front. There was a little bit of a wait for food but thats because they cooked to order. The food was really good apart from my pickled onion which had started to turn as it was a bit soft and tasted sour.

Me and a group of friends visited here. Everyone was really helpful and food served with a smile. Thank you very much we will be back. And a great family run business.

Wonderful scones, freshly made with clotted cream and jam.

We were drawn to this restaurant as it looked clean and we were greeted by a very pleasant waitress. We ordered two pensioner specials and two large fish and chips with mushy peas. When our food arrived it looked and tasted delicious. Good sized portions and not at all greasy. Best fish and chips I've had in along time. Highly recommend.

Finally found a chip shop that offers traditional chip shop food, with chips out of this world. Usual chip shops have soggy or mushy chips with grease but at Seacroft they were 110%. Service was fantastic and reasonable prices as well. It was also nice to see the owner present. Will recommend and return again.

Absolute filth. soggy chips, stale buns and wet chicken. Long queue, menu so low down can't read it whilst waiting. Rubbish value for money. Don't go unless you want to get ill.

I had scampi, chips and mushy peas and my friend had sausage, chips and curry sauce and it was all very tasty and well presented, the man that served us was very chatty and helpful

We ate here on the weekend and the food was lovely, fish was cooked perfectly, curry sauce was very good, tasty chips and very generous portion sizes. My partner had the scampi which was equally as tasty - would definitely return.

Do not eat here!!! Incredibly unhygienic and rude. So many better fish and chip shops about!! Noone had hairnets or washing their hands. Girl was touching and rubbing her nose then handling food. Had a queue of 6 families and suddenly just shut not informing people that theyd ran out of food instead put up the closed sign and walked away. We queued for 15mins for nothing!!

Queued for at least 30 minutes only to get to the front and be told they are closing and they haven't any food. Terrible attitude and customer service. There was a long line of about 30 people behind us and they didn't have the courtesy to say anything.

Chips had no potato in. Nuggets were too overpriced for their quantity and quality (6 nuggets).

Ordered 2 chicken burgers and liturly got a small slab of chicken in dry buns, no sauces no salads nothing else just the chicken in the roll, very disappointed considering the price paid, get better food from the mcdonald's down the road, on the plus the curry sauce was alrightish

Visited for lunch, haddock was not cooked enough and very oily, sausage and batter was not cooked and staff very rude and unwilling do do anything about it, will not be going back and would not recommend to anyone.

On a day trip to Weymouth, stopped at the Seacroft for Lunch with my Wife and Grandson. My Wife and i had cod and chips ,my Grandson had jumbo sausage and chips. The food was very tasty and very reasonasbly priced. There were certainly 3 plates full. The service was fast , polite and served with a smile. Whenever we go to Weymouth we always try to get to the Seacroft and will continue to do so. Totally faultless service.

Would have liked to enjoy the fish and chips here but unfortunately it was raining and they wouldn’t let me take our dog in so we went elsewhere.

Normally we always come here twice a year to enjoy a lovely fish and chips by the sea. However this Tim round the staff were so rude to us. Very blunt and to begin with refused my disabled sister use of the public bathroom because their cafe section was closed for the evening. Staff on phones behind counters and chatting to eachother about their personal business whilst serving me my food. Very dissapointed as it's normally one of the best bits of my trip.

Visited yesterday evening after the BH weekend for cod and chips. The fish was old and had gone off, terrible aroma. Staff replaced with another cod straight away but sadly this was also off and only fit for the bin.

Possibly the worst fish and chips we've ever had. Swimming in grease and completely tasteless (well, except for the grease) the fish had clearly been sat on a hot plate for quite some time & the mushy peas looked like they had seen some better days. The best way to sum up this visit? Even our lurcher turned his nose up at the fish and I've seen him eat some questionable things down the park. I once had to wrestle an old soaking wet sandwich from his gob outside the paper shop so it says quite a lot when he turns down a bit of fish.

Old looking and rusty place. Food was good and for good price too, on this this time only cash was accepted...

We always stop here for an ice cream. It tastes delicious and is certainly the best we have had in the Weymouth and Portland area. The cafe has been there for many years and I would recommend it.

Day out at Weymouth found this chippie on sea front, went in upstairs, young girl took orders for two senior meals and teas, very tasty, lovely cuppa, service very good, ladies toilets ok ish needs to be a bit more thorough! Overall would return

We wanted to eat traditional fish and chip by the seaside. So we decided to visit a place that described themselves as traditional. The food was absolutely fantastic. If a little bit on the stingy side but the quality perfect. The serving waitress looked like she would rather be anywhere else than where she was. Didn’t seem to interested in helping with enquires. Although my step son said she was fit. So I guess that’s a bonus for her. The score is all for the food which was amazing but nothing for the waitressing staff as it was purely mediocre.

This place was awful,local to the area so thought we would try as not tried the food for some time,chips were greasy, undercooked,with hard end bits,tried a large at £3 which believe me were more like a child's portion,will stick to what we know in future with far better food on offer elsewhere,such a shame as on the sea front in prime location, should of returned and asked for refund but did not want to embarrass the owner

Thirty of us arrived to a beautiful welcome. The staff were great and the food was absolutely beautiful and arrived extremely quickly but yet all freshly cooked. It was truly amazing and we will be back. Yum.

A small café and takeaway situated on the sea front. The counter is very small and when they're busy it can be a bit confusing as the food for the café is served over the same bit of the counter so what you think is yours could well be going to someone else. Mind it was a very busy day when I went there - probably a lot better when it's quieter.

I don’t know why there’s some bad reviews here, we had fish and chips here and it was reasonable in price and very good. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Part of my order was a pot of tea and we were given an extra pot of hot water to top up! Top marks for that alone I’m giving it five stars!

Lovely little seafront takeaway and restaurant. Restaurant is on the smaller size for its popularity, however it is family friendly with food options for adults, children and senior citizens.

I ordered a Chicken Quarter (Breast) with chips and mushy peas..My wife ordered a Cheese and Ham Pannini. The place wasn't even busy and we were still waiting 25 mins later.It took them this long to discover they had no Pannini so my wife settled for a sandwich instead.Finally the food arrived.My chicken was incinerated on the outside and when I cut into the inside it was cold and pink with red spots.I pointed this out and they replied that they could "warm it up" for me.I understandably declined this offer.They should know that you should defrost the chicken first before sticking it in the fish fryer.The chips were awful.My wifes sandwich was no substitute for a pannini. I of course didn't eat my meal.All they cared about was shutting the place early in order to watch the football(7th July).Dreadful experience.

Been visiting here since I can remember and I wouldn’t want to get anywhere else, the smiles and warming presence of the staff make you want to return and that’s without saying about the food. The best meals I have in the whole of Weymouth, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. With me being fussy it isn’t always easy to find meals that accommodate my needs and the staff are always happy to make me something that’s delicious and exactly what I want! I constantly am asked about my day and the staff are genuinely interested In their customers. I am thoroughly impressed by every meal and I couldn’t ask for anything more! 10000% recommend!

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for many many years now and it never fails to please me or the family. The staff are exceptional and so helpful and friendly towards us all, I can not fault the food as I enjoy it every time and always leaves me wanting to come back another day for more. This honestly is the best place in town that caters for all ages and dietary needs. Keep up the good work Seacroft!

I can not praise this little seaside restaurant enough, everything about it is perfect! The staff go above and beyond for every customer and always welcome us with a friendly smile and greeting. And the food itself is delicious I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else! And having the view of the sea at the same time... what more could you want from a holiday experience!

Well cooked, there while you wait couldn't be fresher pleasant folk and looked like willing to help for your needs ie work people.

I was charged an extra £1 for eating cold old chips half of which I could not eat as they were little bits some so hard they could not be eaten at an outside table. Also a pot of tea in the same size pot as a single pot with the same hot water in a jug and the same tea bag I was charged an extra £1 for having an extra cup. I have never felt so ripped off moneywise and the quality of these old cold chips was awful. Never again. I love Weymouth and go there frequently but not to this chip shop.

Nearly £9 for haddock chips and peas. Disappointingly tasteless, unfortunately. I had a far better meal of cod, chips and peas for under £4 at another restaurant in the town. I know now where to eat on my next visit

Popped in here with my two children. They both wanted take-away chips. Service was very friendly and efficient . Chips were also very hot which was great. Really pleased with the service and chips from Seacroft

We chose to eat here as we had our dog and wanted to sit outside and eat and there were tables available . It was waitress service which was good and they even bought a bowl of water for the dog which I thought was great service.. We did seen to wait a little while for the fish but it was worth it, beautifully cooked, hot and loads of batter which I like. The fish looked and tasted very fresh the chips were ok, tasted nice but lot of bruised potatoes used so didn't eat all . I would use seacroft again good service lovely fish and value for money

After a nice day with my family one wanted an ice cream one wanted chips. This seemed like the ideal place as they sold both. Waited by ice cream hatch for a few minutes then got fed up being ignored so went inside. My son asked how much for small chips and was told £2 my daughter chose a mr whippy. She then wanted a flake so I asked for a buttered roll and a flake. I was treated like I had two heads! We then sat outside. I opened my roll to a massive slab of the cheapest margarine ever not spread. My sons chips were all grey. We were then told we were not allowed to sit at the tables so sat in the car where we were glared at as we were parked outside. Three members of staff had served us and not one was polite or friendly.

We stopped here today to order 5 meals.

Popped in as we were passing and decided to eat here. Walked in and stood and waited and no one came over or spoke. Eventually we managed to ask a lady what we have to do as we was going to eat in the restaurant and all she could do was wave her hands and say was take a seat which we did and grabbed a menu and cod chips and mushy peas was £8 each and it looked like you didn't get that much so we got up and left after waiting to be served no one questioned us leaving

Nicely situated opposite the beech , really nice seaside chips , seems to close a bit early , also the ordering area is a bit cramped .

Amazing fish and chips I had lost faith in chip shops but this place has restored it . All cooked fresh no stale oil or fish rewarmed a dozen times best around would give 10 stars if I could keep up the good work

came to this café had a cream it was disgusting, the scones was so hard very and small, a very small tub of jam which had no taste, the cream was horrible could not eat, we paid for it, but l told the oldish women who serving that it was horrible, she just said oh was it turn round to put the money in the till, She did not care,

Decided to try the Seacroft's fish & chips for a change on this trip. Patience is required as the fish is cooked to order but well worth the wait. Luckily for us it wasn't too busy. The meal was delicious and best we had in Weymouth to date. Will return.

Had fish (huge), chips & curry sauce & it was delicious, well worth the £9 something it cost. We had this as a takeaway, but there is indoor & outdoor seating.

Decent portions and ok quality food but bad service, we waited for 10-15 mins to be asked what we wanted and then most of it was unavailable. The I think owner seemed to glare at everyone who walked in so not a great atmosphere I must say.

Second visit to this fish and chip cafe and again an excellent meal.Had the OAP fish and chip meal which is just the right size and very good value.Cheered up an otherwise wet and dismal day trip.

I had plaice, wife had cod and my son had kids pizza meal. All was nice, not overly greasy as some chippys are. Only negative was my lads pizza base was a bit overdone, but they replaced it no questions asked and his new pizza was fine. Kids meal good value as included drink and ice cream all for £3.

we came here this week (end of June) and all we wanted was dinner for 2 adults and 2 children.. staff didn't have a clue to be honest after going out back to eat our dinner inside a waitress took our order, 2 minutes later another waitress came and asked for our order, and even a third came ! (we was the only ones sat inside so I'm not sure why there was so much confusion!! food is very highly priced ! the children's meals are good value at £3 but that's it ! £2.80 for a side plait of chips is ridiculous and the portions are far to small ! we asked for sauce on the child's ice cream (included in the meal deal) and the waitress had to check if we had to pay for sauce... she's lucky she came back and said we could have some for free.. I mean would you really charge some one for sauce on their ice cream ! I think staff need a good training on customer service and a review at your price list is essential for the food your serving ! I no it's eat in or take away but sometimes it's nice to be served your food before 15 other people who are taking their food away with them !! (yes we counted the customers as the wait was so long !!!)

Great breakfast ,friendly service with a view overlooking the beach and close to the motorbike parking bay ,so if your in the vicinity make sure you try it

The service was so slow, the food was terrible! I visited with my children, my jacket potato came first obviously I waited for my children's meals before starting. 10 minutes later one meal arrived, then the last after asking 5 minutes later! Then I had to ask for the bread and butter we had ordered. No apologies for the wait. When paying, the woman who took my money was rude and I hope she didn't cook our food or hygiene maybe an issue too. It is also over priced, £2.80 for a side plate of chips! Annoyed at all costs. Very disappointing

Easter weekend away so decided on some chips for lunch , a seaside treat. Decided on the seacroft fish n chips takeaway and restaurant , what a big mistake .Possibly the worst chips weve ever had .Every other chip was uneatable , they were an horrible colour mainly black,Due to poor quality potatoes .We would have taken them back but had left the takeaway and didnt want the walk back from beach .Instead we fed the seagulls and even they didnt want them .What a let down there are a number of fish n chips takeaways along the front and we are so disappointed we chose the seacroft, never again !

Over the last couple of months we have had fish and chips to take out and recently eat in.All is cooked fresh to order therefore piping hot and delicious.Service indoors is good.What can I say - really good value and excellent 'proper' fish / chips.
