Sea View Fish Bar in The Vale of Glamorgan

The wait was quite long as it was a warm and busy day, but the fish and chips were fresh and tasty.

Fantastic food, friendly staff and reasonable pricing for a seaside fish bar. The curry sauce is 👌🏻. The food is also Halal. Thanks!

First time eating here and the food was hot, chips were cooked fresh and customer service was friendly. Usually we would go to Boofys but the Sea View Fish Bar will be our new favourite. There wasn’t much of a waiting time, they had tables and chairs just outside of the building and rubbish bins close by. I had a medium chips, jumbo sausage and a little pot of curry sauce and it was enough. I will definitely be eating here again.

I was waiting to be served for around ten minutes. Both of my friends were served and then the guy behind the counter just completely ignores me as if he was going to serve the person waiting BEHIND me. Very impatient and rude attitude when ordering too. And the food made me so ill. Never coming back here.

Staff member with the moustache was constantly looking at my Mrs, which was unacceptable and uncomfortable for her. Very neglected in certain departments, it seems like. Anyway, fish and chips were made fresh, and the chips were decent, but the fish was bad. Fish had a sweet taste but definitely not something to get excited about. They do not do curry sauce here, which is a shame.

GAVE ME DISCOUNTED CHIPS OUT OF KINDNESS. Found my new fave chippy to visit when coming to barry. The welcome was so warming and nice and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately when i got my chips the seagulls stole it from me and i was only able to take a few bites. Really was looking forward to eating the yummy chips so went back and explained what happened and saabi was nice enough to give me the chips for £2 instead of the usual 4.5 so lovely of him!!

found the size of fish and chips portion not proportional to the price. fish was over cooked and dry. Scampi was very nice but i bet that was cooked from frozen. service was excellent but it’s the food i came for. Would help to have parasol umbrellas on the tables outside so that you are protected from the direct sun. the menu is quite large and i expect would cater to many people.

Came here because it was halal, there is another place 2 shops away which is halal as well. They do take card overall did not enjoy the food main thing I went for was fish and chips both were not nice fish was not tasty at all and chips were hard. The chicken donner pitta was lovely overall ok to visit just didn't enjoy the fish and chips at all, also no seating, so have to sit outside they do have table and chairs though

Had chips there today. By far the best chips we've had in a long time.

Very disappointing. Fish was 6/10, chips didn't seem fresh 4/10. No tartare sauce, no white vinegar.

Very tasty fish and chips, it was so fresh. One of the best I've ever had. Nice seating outside, especially on a sunny day, just watch out for the seagulls.

Had a lovely traditional cod and chips. We were hesitant to go in after we saw their Google review rating but were pleasantly surprised by the lovely service and great food. Would totally recommend!

Fantastic service and lovely freshly cooked fish and chips.

One of the best chip shops on the island. The fish is freshly cooked, the chicken Wraps are amazing and the chips are lovely. I have never had an issue with any staff members anytime I have been here and I have been using this chippy since they opened.

Firstly this place is not halal, the guys working there were Sikhs I believe as they had a bangles. When asked if halal they proceeded to laugh as they couldn’t handle to keep a straight face. Customer service disgusting they don’t like questions they just want ur money. I notice they were really rude to a few customer when the shop was empty once there was more customer in the shop they began to behave a bit differently overall not halal, rude service, try to scam u when the prices are literally at the top board.

The food was brilliant we had the sausage meal and the prices are astounding in today's time. Very worth the money and the staff were very friendly and the food was done quickly.

Fish chips curry sauce can of pop £12.49 food was piping hot chips were average fish was good size curry sauce was Chinese style not chippy curry seating available outside Average chippy for the price think I’ll try somewhere else next time but it was ok.

Popped in here today with my mother and and my children. Customer service from the woman serving was absolutely disgusting. Very Rude, patronising, and down right disrespectful. I Left here fuming, her attitude is stinking. Vile human. She was also being rude and laughing at teenage girls next to us while they were trying to order from her. Seems to be a lot of people complaining about her. The worst place i have ever been to!. Plenty of other places there with LOVELY staff. I Would never go again… The food was also disgusting.

Delicious Fresh fish, lovely chips and other chip shop fayre. Fair prices for a seaside chippy, good portion sizes but genuinely great quality! Friendly and competent staff.

Terrible customer service from the woman serving tonight - not helpful and terrible attitude. Asked for the fish options, only cod - always, no variety. The place is called Sea View and its opposite the beach where you would expect choice. Switched to chicken, hoping for thighs or drumsticks but no real chicken here, only reconstructed strips and nuggets. Asked for a kebab (there is a list on the board), she said we don't do kebabs. Asked for a serviette, they don't have those either. Charged £21 for awful fast food. Dreadful - Avoid any all costs.

Chips were ok… however their saveloy sausages are crusty on parts of the insides and raw throughout the whole sausage… very polite people though!

The chips have no taste and the fish was just ok, overpriced for what it is. Look for a better option.

Quite simply the worst chips I’ve ever had

It says halal. But most the menu isn't available or not halal. Charged me 20p for asking for sauce in my burger. Asked him to cut the burger in half and he touched it with his bare hands. Disaster. No healthy options. Feel sick after eating.

Fish chips was good ashame it’s not halal thanks to the guy working their for telling me, it does say Halal on the window but please ask in store because it’s definitely not HALAL

Went here today with my family I brought food and was told that it was 26 paid with card and was charged 44.00 rip off and very disappointed when I checked they charged seperate for sauces which was stupid because they didn’t even put the sauce on the chips which they should have never be coming her again taking advantage of the fact it says halal

Chips not great and no fish bites on the menu. I had chips with curry sauce it was forgettable. The chips were OK but nothing to write home about and the curry sauce was too thick. My wife had the chicken strips which were good, even I enjoyed them. My wife asked for Mayo with her meal and was told that it was 20p per portion after we had paid, we were told the other condiments were free. I would not eat her again and will stick with the chippy on the front. On the whole better then going hungry but if you can wait a while there are better places to eat.

Been here twice in the last few months and both times had a battered sausage meal deal. The chips, sausage and curry sauce were all delicious! And we found the staff to be very friendly and always smiling.

Best chippy along Barry Island. Halal food so brilliant. Always a friendly face to welcome us and surprisingly quite quick on food service even when busy. Foods always clean and to be expected to pay alittle extra like every other shop and stall at beaches as that's tourism prices for you but cannot neat on quality

Everything was Over priced I ordered 2 meals and payed £20 and they didn’t give us any drinks. And there was HAIR in my Burger not impressed.

If you’re lucky to pop in just as the fish are coming out of the fryer you’re in for a treat. By far one of the best fish and chips I’ve had. Just flaked apart.

I bought a takeaway from sea view fish bar. The food was below standard. It was unhygienic and smelly. I will never go there again.

Poor service and food. Fish is not cod or haddock..it is soggy cheap fish with not flavour. They gloss it with a thick oily batter. Did not even provide a carrier bag to take away and when asked i had to place the food myself. Do not spoil your trip to this beach with a visit to this awful chip shop

I had fish and chips with gravy and a can. The gravy was terrible and the chips were at best ok, and certainly nothing to write home about. The fish was freshly cooked for us and was nice and flaky and moist while the batter was crispy without too much grease. But the fish was not enough to rescue the meal. I will not be returning.

Found hairs on our fish all over the batter and had one in my mouth. Took them back to the complain and was told I had put them in there as no one had white hair. Rude, nasty staff! I never complain but this was needed and to be told I was lying! this was absolutely disgusting! DO NOT EAT from here! Poor dirty and hairs in food!

Belittling a Minor diabolical behaviour !! What I witnessed a few days ago was utterly disgusting to say the least..... The person serving thought it would be funny to mock a young sensitive child whilst purchasing some food ....To say the effects that a flippant remark and facial gesture made towards the child could somewhat have a detrimental effect on this child's mental state is an understatment and concerning to say the least... It is utterly shocking !! Avoid at all costs and I strongely advise the owner of this establishment does investigate this matter further!! And to suggest they adapt a much better recruitment process

Just wanted to say the staff in this place are rude and have no manners at all, they also are expensive, and portions of food are small wasn’t not impressed with there service, drinks were warm and staff wouldn’t change it because apparently the fridge wasn’t working , will not be going here again

Rude and miserable staff even on a quiet day. Chips were watery. Half of the things to chose from were out of stock and prices on display also incorrect. Stay clear of this place

Absolutely shocking behaviour and poor customer service. It was a very busy Saturday afternoon so the staff should expect to see and hear children in the presence of adults. A member of the staff actually shouted across the shop at a toddler "sssshhh". The mother actually had hold of the child and was trying to discourage his volume so there is no need to shout at customers. If children are not welcome this should be clearly displayed!!!!

Good quality sea side fish and chips. Quite surprised to find this provides Halal food. Chips and Cod were brilliant and delicious! Their chicken strips were outstanding! Fantastic! Loved it!

I was shocked by the price £15.70 for two small fish n chips and one small bottle of Sprite. The fish and chips were lovely but the price shocked me.

Been to this place twice when in Barry. Rock hard chips each time,.quite disappointing when your looking forward to nice seaside chips .... I'll be standing in a 20 minute queue next time we all go for a day trip. Decent chips.... Trust me!!

Terrible service from Manager when sea gulls engulfed the fish. I ordered another and staff did not make it as directed by Manager as he thought I didn’t want to pay. Also had to buy catchup and sauce for my chips.
