This is an incomparable, little gem of a restaurant . Top quality, interesting and imaginative dishes all created by a very talented chef using locally sourced produce makes it difficult to decide what you would like! Memorable experience for someone who is coeliac too. Good sized portions and amazing choice = excellent value for money. Don’t forget to try the Appasiomento wine - a true find. Front of house service is relaxed, faultless and friendly making the overall experience excellent. We always pre-book to avoid disappointment.

We needed lunch whilst in St. Leonards and had this lovely little eatery recommended to us. Super recommendation, super unusual food, super friendly service and not at all overpriced like some places today. Can't say better than all of that, can we.

I don’t write negative reviews and I don’t comment on average eateries. I just hope they get better. So I thought we’d visit St Leonard’s and booked Sieg Heil…(check spelling pls - Ed)…. Sorry Sea Kale…..really very very good…! We had the Sea Bass risotto and it was fantastic….fresh fish caught the night before you can’t beat…and we could have chosen so many other meals we fancied… next time….the house wine was very good…so many customers seemed to be regular customers…thank you Matt and Emma…such a memorable lunch..!

Seakale is a fantastic venue for a lovely relaxing brunch or lunch. Food is fresh, local and with lovely unusual combinations. Service is informal and friendly. As a fellow local business owner that's exactly where I would go if I want a nice brunch or light lunch. Ps try their ice creams, they're fantastic!

Our fourth visit to Sea Kale - and it was as fabulous as ever. We devoured the all-day breakfast which really is staggeringly good - with some of the most delicious black pudding, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and baked beans you'll ever taste. Even the homemade brown sauce and ketchup are divine! This place is an absolute gem - friendly, welcoming and very reasonably priced, given the quality of the food.

Arranged to meet a friend for lunch and went to Sea Kale for the first time in ages. I had somehow forgotten how good it is. Staff are so lovely and helpful, there’s a good range of drinks but I was blown away by how good my lunch was. I had the cheese scone with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and flaked smoked haddock. A great experience that made my otherwise ordinary Thursday special. This time I will not forget how good it and will return soon.

We were in Hastings for the day and just happened to pop in to Sea Kale for lunch as we were passing because it looked nice. The food and drinks were fantastic, faultless in fact. We had bubble and squeak with poached eggs and field mushrooms, iced chai and coffee. Every last thing was delicious, even down to the homemade chili and brown sauces. Very reasonably priced. Friendly place. Interesting artwork on the walls. Clean loo. Brilliant cafe. We will definitely return when we are next in Hastings.

I popped into Seakale this morning hoping for a table as I hadn’t booked and lucky for me there was a space. I resisted my favourite scone dish with smoked haddock and went for the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Trouble is now have too many favourites!! Never a disappointment, always absolutely beautifully cooked and presented. The word “gem”can be over used but not when referring to Seakale Restaurant … love it!

I visited St Leonards today with a friend and we booked ahead after reading reviews. It was a wonderful experience. The service was bright, kind and attentive from the moment we walked in. Our food was absolutely delicious and coffee and masala chai excellent. Honestly one of the best places I’ve eaten and I used to work in restaurants for years. Thanks to the chef and floor team, you have a great thing going on. I will be recommending to others and will also be back.

Scrumptious food, beautifully presented. Good portions. We were 2 families of 4 and luckily we were able to get seated without a booking, but It’s small place so would recommend booking. Kids enjoyed scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and fry ups. Adults wanted to try everything on the mains section and we ended up ordering 5 mains for 4 of us, one was a salad after all 😁! One of our party is dairy intolerant. She had choice of 2 of the mains which was great. Demolished the whole lot.

A gem of a place. The food is very fresh, delicious and creative. We had vegetarian linguine which had a good amount of vegetable and delicious courgettes fritters. A goat cheese salad, full of flavours with a strawberry sauce. And chicken with potato fillo pastry. Chocolate brownieswith whipped cream and peach preserve and banoffee pie. The service was extremely friendly. They even gave us some crabs to make fish stock!

Our seafront walk was disrupted by rain so we popped in here for a cuppa.Lovely quirky little place on London Road, with mismatching furniture and crockery - always a good sign to me!We had a couple of hot drinks, coffee and a pot of tea, which came with a lovely home-cooked biscuit rather than one of those mass-produced caramelised biscuits! Hubby always like something to eat with his drink and opted for the sausage roll. It was very, very good (I had a bite)! They do brunches and lunches and the menu looked tasty so I hope we’ll come back and sample something!

We were a large family group. Eleven adults, three kids and a baby. Celebrating my 70th in St Leonards. Sea Kale could not have been more helpful. They gave us the whole place as a private function. They gave us the option of three main meals, catering for all different diets, with variations! The food was wonderful. Fresh, tasty and well presented using local ingredients. Fabulous service in a bright and cheerful space. They really looked after us. I can recommend Sea Kale without reservation. Thanks.

I am not exaggerating with this title. We went there on a whim yesterday and managed to grab the table at the window which is great for people watching. It is a small place, only about 5 tables so I expect it will get quite busy. But boy is it worth waiting for your turn - it was hands down the best breakfast I had in years. I ordered scrambled eggs with salmon on sourdough bread with spinach and wild garlic. It was wonderful and nothing could have improved it, it was perfection. I had a pot of tea which was exactly that, a large pot that could have easily served two. The service is very friendly and quick but also really warm and friendly. All in all I don’t have enough words to express how good it was!

We popped in for late breakfast and we were not disappointed! Small but very interesting menu, I went for the scrambled smoked salmon eggs on sourdough toast and beetroot pesto and a flat white, he went for the English and Soya Hot Chocolate. All was perfect, just how I hoped it would be. His poached egg was spot on with delicious sausage from Applegate butchers, black pud, bacon and Sourdough Toast. Great coffee! This is definitely my new favourite place to eat. I plan my Fridays so I can stop here for lunch. The menu is full of familiar dishes but each with a unique twist. Their pride and passion for what they do is abundantly evident in everything from the outstanding food and the warm environment to the charming and friendly staff. I love their home-made sauces and preserves. I hope I can convince them to sell these! Dropped in for an impromptu lunch today as we were in the area and hungry. So glad we did. A short but very interesting menu all of which sounded delicious so it was hard to choose. My partner had a risotto with asparagus spinach and pea shoots topped with a sea bream fillet which he is still raving about and I had a breakfast dish which was lovely -all the ingredients were quality. Great coffee too and everything very reasonably priced. Also good to see a selection of local beer, cider and wine. Lovely friendly staff. This is a new cafe in the cafe society of Norman Road/London Road quarter of St Leonards. I have tried the All Day Breakfast on a previous visit and the kale bubble with the mushroom option, egg and hollandaise was freshly made to order and delicious. There are inspired options for vegetarians with the celery, pine nut and basil soup sounding wonderful as does the tomato, bean and vanilla stew with cauliflower fritters. Sadly it’s just a quick pit stop for a flat white top up for me today. The cafe is warm and inviting and they are very friendly. Rightly already becoming a popular local favourite!
