It took 27 mins to get pie and chips and mushy peas. Only one other person waiting. Apparently seeing it was Sunday peas take 20 mins. If I had been told about the Sunday factor when I ordered I would just have just had the pie and chips. Chips both over cooked and under cooked. Won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend.

Waited 40 minutes when the chippy was empty for stale hard chips but was told they were cooked fresh and dry kebab meat. Will not be using again

Chips were good but not sure the small cod I asked for was actually cod. The texture wasn’t right for cod. Unlikely to visit again.

Food has massively gone down hill. They used to have the best chicken kebab in the country but the last five times I've gone it's been the worst. New owners and their focus is profit over taste

The Scampi was perfectly cooked, enjoyed so much. Unfortunately the chips came in a lump of mush all broken and not crispy at all, very disappointed, we also had the battered potato which was hard as a brick! We have given them 3 chances now and each time something is wrong! Do you have quality control?

I’m a regular customer but with gaps of maybe a month between visits When the business originally changed hands the product was initially just as good but with slightly chaotic service . My last visit last night had good service ( and I never mind Waiting for freshly cooked. Fish)! but sadly the edge has gone off the product . Fish was ok but not as fresh as before, batter less crisp and flavoursome , chips not as crisp and fluffy . Not disastrously so but this is what happened to Grimshaws when it changed hands and the new owner started to diversify the offering . The core fish and chips offering suffered . I would rather have done this feedback to just the proprietor but the email link has been disabled on the website . Please keep an eye on quality folks , there is always a picky customer like me who will spot the decline . I wish you all the best .

Chips were well over cooked and hard, couldn't eat them. Portion size for kebab meat wasn't great but it did taste nice.

Not very good anymore, we used to love this place, but it's gone downhill. The Mrs has had two chicken kebabs and they put all the hard bits in which isn't very pleasant, and find the chips soggy. Doner kebab still seems decent though...

We have been many times and usually have donor/mixed kebab. Not long ago the pittabread changed to a better quality bread and plenty of meat and chips too. We've just eaten today and what a difference, supermarket pittabread, less meat and chips, what a shame, just making money out of us. I noticed in the warmer large Cod, £7.60 exc chips, shocking for frozen fish. Stop and think what they pay for a box of frozen fish.

The new owners had perfected this takeaway which is why we returned. They had good food, good portions and had perfected it's previous shortfallings. Staff are friendly and well organised. It is unfortunate that this USP has been thrown out in favour of cuts in quality and cuts in portion size that separated it from the competitors. Such a shame they had done so well and were insanely busy, maybe this is the reason they wanted to make cuts to the business and quieten the place down, who knows? Such a shame!

Meat just hacked off and thrown in a pita. On this recent visit large chunks an inch thick uncooked. Lamb doner meat should be thinly sliced and layered in a pita. Last chance! No more!! Good bye!

Just had the best fish and chips in a long time. Cod was beautiful, white and full of flavour as was the haddock. Nice batter not too overloaded. Service friendly and efficient 10/10👍

Pre ordered on a Wednesday night, when I arrived staff seemed all confused. Had to wait another 15 minutes as the pre order hadn’t been done so what’s the point in phoning up? Then apparently I ordered the wrong thing so they wanted an extra 90p even though I had already spent £20 at this point. Was then made to buy something an spend an extra £2 as the card machine “wouldn’t accept 90p” Staff were rude and miserable Got home the order was STILL wrong was given chicken nuggets for the kid rather than sausage. Absolute shambles they could have let me off the 90p considering they messed it all up. Use to be the best chippy in Kenilworth but won’t be coming again untill they sort there s#%t out.

Arrived at the allotted time and still had to wait 15-minutes for the food to be produced. Food quality was excellent, albeit expensive (£9.10 for a piece of Haddock without chips & £8.20 for Donna meat in a tray with no sauce or salad).

I popped in today to pick up fish and chips for an elderly client as a treat (I work in care) and the gentleman serving could not have been more helpful, welcoming or kind - not to mention the fact that the food was beautifully cooked and simply delicious! Thank you, we will be back!

The lady is so polite and helpful. The chaos are also very efficient. The food was freshly cooked and lovely but stuck to the paper, which I found slightly irritating. Otherwise great.

What a find. Fabulous fish fab chips. Friendly and welcoming staff. We sat outside, the family owned shop helped us so much and got the table and chairs out for us on a warm summer's evening. I have to just say although my first review was awesome, second visit not so much, from different staff no eye contact, we asked to sit outside like before but we were denied! So had to sit in the car. So it depends on the staff who are on and we have no control over that! Keep smiling staff and eye contact is essential.

Excellent fish and chips, it was delicious and the shop experience was even good too. The staff here are always pleasant and they don't get anything mixed up.

Ordered 2x fish and chips, and kids sausage and chips, small peas and curry £24.95. Batter was soggy and stuck to the paper. Had to wait 20mins for it. If you are going to charge top prices, then food has got to be top quality. Sadly on this occasion it was really disappointing.

We have fish and chips from here most Saturdays, and it is always first class. The staff are friendly and polite, always smiling and make you feel special. It is a tiny place, and you sometimes have to wait outside because it is so popular. But the wait is never long! Have tried most of the chippies in Kenilworth, and this is our favourite.

Have been a customer of this chippy for over 40 years. Lou and his wife used to run a tight ship and the fish and chips were always of the highest quality, consistent and dependable. No other chippy could hold a candle to this establishment. Unfortunately it has fallen apart since Lou left. Called in the other evening for cod and chips. The fish itself was a very small portion and both the fish and the batter were overcooked. The chips were no better. Need to find somewhere else to go...

Fish and chips are good quality, moderately priced but the service is rushed and rude. They forgot salad and sauce with the kebab and asked us to come back to take it... this is a silly response - the food is stone cold and the fuel and time wasted to go back is obviously not worth it. The correct response would be to say next time they will give us a bit extra. This shows the mentality of some staff is about taking money and getting people out the door. Not about retaining customers or maintain standards. Disappointing because the potential is there for an excellent shop. Picture has our sauce added. The portion is small for £6 and no salad or anything.

All i can say is thumbs up. Amzing food, chips weren't too atongy, perfect price, and waiting time wasn't roo long either.

Best chippy in Kenilworth. Consistently good food, staff always great despite being run off their feet at peak times. Cannot fault them.

Overall tasty meal, however had ordered for collection at 17.40pm, meal wasn’t ready until gone 6pm, a wait of over 20 minutes. Staff apologetic which was good. Others had been waiting some time in the queue too, one lady said that it happens regularly to her.

25 mins after collection time, food was only just being prepared. Really slow service. Wouldn’t recommend preordering as it gains nothing other than being stuck waiting because you’ve already paid.

Used to be really really good, but since the new owner has taken over it rapidly gone down hill, constant queues outside and waiting times over 20 minutes on my last two visits. I don't mind waiting but why not have people just join and order when at the front instead of taking orders and not having a clue what your doing. Go back to basics.

This is the best chippy in Kenilworth. The service is almost always prompt, and the menu has a wide enough selection for most to be accommodated. Batter is on the heavier side but delicious.

Food was good but won’t order via JustEat again. The cost was so much more expensive via Just Eat. Much cheaper just going directly into the shop…. Feel a bit ripped off !

Did an online order paid for. On collection they had no detail of the order or payment so nothing ready on pick up time. Waited outside in the rain for 15 minutes. The whole meal was very poor, large cod was small, chips were cold, Spring roll was soggy and full of soft batter inside and didn’t receive the mushy peas paid for. Expensive meal in the bin fish alone was £9.95. Won’t be going back after this time.

Always good food, but sometimes rather slow service. Took 15mins with only one person in the queue in front of me last time. Bit hit and miss, depending on which server you get

My meal was made fresh to order as it was close to closing time and it was a lovely fresh fish n chips, with a nice curry sauce, would recommend! Helpful lovely staff. They fry in vegetable oil 👍

We were staying in Kenilworth for the night and decided to look out some local fish and chips for our meal. This was nearby and turned out to be an excellent choice. We bought our meal and walked the short distance to Abbey Fields where we sat on a seat and had a very good meal. The portion sizes are large! Fish was very good, crispy batter and well cooked.

This has been my ‘go to’ fish and chips shop for many years. Getting older means fewer visits, maybe once a month in the interests of my waistline, but I’ll be going elsewhere as the quality has noticeably declined. The increase in price is sort of understandable, it’s the same everywhere, but the food should be edible. Today is the 2nd time ( I thought the 1st time might be a one-off) I have reached home (5 mins away) with lukewarm, dry, ‘cardboard'y chips. I think they have been reheated and are truly horrible! Sorry, School Lane, but it’s a no from me.

Appalling service. Website falsely claims that they offer delivery. Once order has been made and money taken, they refuse to deliver and palm off responsibility for refund to a third-party company which is closed. Avoid!!!

I love this place, honestly had some cracking fish and chips here, lovely. Had a doner kebab today and yes, I know, how good can you make a doner kebab but it was very poor sadly. No love in it at all. Staff all busy with some on line order confusion and just no attention to detail. It’s a terrific business this and food is lovely but someone took their eye well off the ball tonight. However, they have a well deserved good reputation

Unfortunately this chip shop has gone down hill with very expensive prices for poor quality food. The lady behind the till was to busy telling another customer how important it was to wear a mask that does nothing rather than take care of paying customers.

Absolutely useless. Placed an order and said it was ready to collect 10 minutes later. Drove there and it wasn't even started, had to wait another 10 minutes. The food was awful, burnt and dry. Truly abysmal, they need to change how to serve customers
