Scawby Fish And Chips Shop in North Lincolnshire

Went there as a usual routine for a friend. Thought try there as its new management. As I work in food I can say. 1. The order was completely wrong from was we asked for 2. Waited around 25 mins for the order. 3. Could not understand what we wanted 4. Chips were cooked to longs as they were hard. 5 the beans were taken straight out the tin and was stone cold. And to be honest the worst chipshop I've been to in my life. I'm definitely won't be going there or definitely don't recommend people to go there

This was my second visit to the Scawby Fish &chip shop and the quality of food was above expectation, a good portion of newly fried fish &chips and sausages with chips. it gets a 5 star 10/10 from me, as Arnie said I'll be back!

We ordered some fish and chips, as we had just driven from Manchester and we were very hungry. The portions were huge, the fish was light and fluffy in a light crispy batter. The chips were fresh and tasty and we would definitely eat from here again now the new owners have taken over. We ate from here twice before when the old owners ran it, and the fish was like plastic chunks (frozen!) the chips were dry and had obviously been reheated-many times. The shop smelt of old oil and you could smell it from down the street-we questioned why we bought from here but we had no choice as it was lockdown and we had driven a long way. We came the second time because people said they have fresh fish delivered on a Friday, but, it tasted just as bad. We never went back to the old owners, it looked unclean. Now the new owners run it, it looks clean and not drab as it was before. The new owners are friendly and genuine, not false but happy . Well done new owners-how refreshingly genuine.

The smell of the place was horrible. I actually gagged.🤢 I was going to walk straight out but was hungry and in a rush. Ordered sausage chips and curry. Two mouth fulls and it went straight in the bin! Sloppy sausage, undercooked chips and the curry sauce was just like dirty dish water. This used to be a great chippy but won’t be going back! Avoid! Don’t waste your money No stars

Scawby was always the best chippy in the area, then was taken over when the owners retired. As is often the case, the quality, or what we were used to, went down. Nowhere near as much as the scathing rants below, but it wasn’t as good. Now, they are much better and lovely soft brown tasty chips ... maybe Jimmy came back to give them a pep-talk. Give them a chance ... they are getting better all the time. Please note that this is a take-away chippy, not a restaurant.

Been going to Scawby chippie for years,fresh fish,crispy batter,delicious chips..not no more..they are now horrible..soggy fish,I picked the fish up and the greasy batter fell off...greasy aftertaste into mouth.. Looking for a new chippie...avoid..

Scawby has been my favourite chip shop since the seventies, has been taken over will not be using again.

Unfortunately, this chip shop is under new management, and they don’t know how to cook fish an chips, batter flat and soggy, chips soggy , what a disappointment, this used to be an excellent chip shop.

I live just a few miles away but only visited this fish and chip shop in Scawby for the first time a few months ago. Really tasty especially the fish if you like a light crispy batter. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

By far the best fish & chips in the area, the owners are warm and welcoming, never had a bad meal yet!! Highly recommend

Moved away a few years back but come back to visit the family every year. Always look forward to having fish and chips here. I can't find anywhere that fries the fish like Jimmy does. Both Jenny and Jimmy are so caring and warm. Definitely worth the visit and must be delusional if you think that the fish and chips are below average.

had fish and chips from here last week. fish was over cooked and dry chips were also on the dark side. tasted like reheated chips and the oil they were cooked in wasn't fresh. you can tell it hadn't been changed in a while. avoid this place

Invaluable for my dad and me during my mums Latter days. Always courteous and happy to have a chat and regularly provided very good fish and chips for me and my family when we had little time to cook

passed a few times when in Brigg but decided to call & was not overly impressed with potion size & bread was a little dry but fish was well cooked & batter crispy.will give it another try as staff were really friendly.

Very light batter that does not weigh heavy, and certainly not soggy or stodgy, very tasty and great value for money. Everything is clean and tidy and well worth the visit.

Si quieres patatas fritas pescado n adecuada que sabe bien, cocinado a la perfección y no repetir todo el día, entonces no vayas a ningún otro sitio. Vivo es una buena manera de esta "fish and chips" y no dudaría en viajar para disfrutar de este lugar tan encantador. Situada detrás de las escenas en una ubicación de pueblo es muy popular, así que verifique los horarios de apertura y tratar de no llegar demasiado frustrados para encontrar aparcamiento. Recomiendo sentarse en el banco cercano y les de la bandeja como demasiado a menudo cuando lleguen a casa que no son una cuestión a donde vayas. No es una opción barata, pero como siempre mi lema "tienes lo que pagas" Disfrute! !

I was introduced to this fish shop by work colleagues at the British Steel site in Scunthorpe. About five miles from this shop and they make the trip every Friday . Everyone considers it worth it and I totally agree. Excellent

Fastest and friendliest service I've ever received in a chippy. 5-star cleanliness. Food just as well done - better than rivals in Brigg, Barnetby, Barton. Very close to M180.

Popped into Scawby chippy on way back from a long drive and had my usual, fish, chips and mushy peas. It was spot on, well cooked fish, perfect batter, chips very tasty and served by a very welcoming smile from a nice lady. I'm passing by on Saturday so i might just have to do a detour again to this lovely chippy :)

One of the best fish & chip shops around, super clean.Extremely well run, they will prepare your food to your tastes so thinner batter - no problem, well done chips - consider it done. You simply need to ask & they will do their best to satisfy your expectations.Yes it's a little bit more expensive but isn't the best of everything the same? They do have smaller portions available too at reduced prices for those with smaller budgets or if you're not so hungry.I've never been disappointed.

This chippy serves meaty great quality fish and chips but a little price for over £5. Hygiene is impeccable 5 star rating.

Keep it simple keep it cheap and keep it good quality that seems to be the ethics of this great little chip shop in the quintessential British village of Scawby North Lincolnshire. Well worth a visit if your passing.
