Oceans 52 in North Lincolnshire

Been ordering from Oceans for quite a while and have left good reviews in the past. However service and quality have been deteriorating. This time, the order was delivered over an hour after initial estimate. I called to request a refund literally a moment before the driver eventually arrived. The shop called back and left a message merely saying “you asked for a refund but accepted delivery”. No apology. Customer service non-existent. Food unremarkable. Such a shame. Quick update … response from restaurant … “The restaurant isn't going to give you any money back for your delayed order. They say: "We're really sorry your order wasn't delivered on time. The driver was stuck in heavy traffic, sorry." “Heavy traffic” between Epworth and our village that’s beyond unbelievably ridiculous!!!

Ordered food last night over an hour late dripping with grease and cold. Throwing up this morning so looks like food poisoning aswell dirty place need shutting down. I cant add a reply so I will on the end of here WE WERE ILL AFTER EATING YOUR DIRTY FOOD MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WILL NEVER EAT AT YOUR RAT INFESTED DUMP AGAIN DISGUSTING

Amazing chippy, I’ve been to many all over north Lincolnshire and I have never been to one where I have enjoyed the food so much, my partner and I ordered online to collect and when arrived our food had already been prepared and was ready for us, it just needed bagging which was perfect to say they looked busy when we arrived. Great food served by helpful cheerful staff! Lovely, lovely food, will definitely be ordering again. Well done to you all x

Spot on! I last ordered from here about 6 months ago and the food was amazing. Clearly this wasn't a 1 time miracle, yet another order this busy weekend made me truly believe this is the best chippy on the isle shown by their achievement of the 'Prestige Award 2022 South Yorkshire'. Fish was absolute perfection, light and crispy batter and suculent cod in the centre. The young staff were very polite and friendly even at the busiest times. Oceans 52 can count on my business for years to come.

Amazing stuff! Lots of variety on the menu- tried the chicken curry and mossala goujons from the Indian selection and the flavour and spices were spot on.

Brilliant food and service! I ordered food from here for delivery on Saturday evening and although they were extremely busy, my food was clearly very fresh and amazing as ever. My food was delivered within the delivery time frame and the driver was very friendly like usual. I will definitely be coming here for years to come.

Great food, great staff ,well worth a visit

I will not be ordering from here again after trying three times. The first 2 orders were average food and the drinks were missed off both visits. This time my order was not prepared or even noticed for my pick up time despite ordering a good hour before. The food was then rushed and the kebab wrap I received was disgusting, cold and stale/hard, the dog ended up eating it. I hope a good quality takeaway food outlet opens in Epworth for lunch times soon.

Absolutely amazing! I have now been coming to this chippy for years and they never disappoint. Not only do they serve the best fish and chips around, they offer a huge variety of different items including Indian dishes which are all homemade and delicious. And to top it off, the staff are very friendly and helpful even at the busiest times, including the owner who is always open to questions.

Came in this Friday and it was rather busy but the young staff managed really well and I just wanted to say that you are all doing amazing especially on such busy days, I’ve been ordering from here for the past year now and I have never had a bad meal from here, from burgers, to the fish/ homemade fishcakes and the scampi wraps which are all my personal favourites everything I’ve ever ordered from oceans has been beautifully cooked and all fresh to order, so nothing is sat waiting for a customer to claim. Staff confused and overwhelmed. Food being kept warm too long, whilst I was waiting in the shop, barely edible by the time it was handed to me.

A proper gem this one, called in one tea time cos my son told me there was a chippy in Epworth which I hadn’t realised and the amount of time I’ve passed through this place! Anyway had fish chips and curry sauce for my tea sat in car and had them what can I say fresh hot and fantastic quality being honest I’m a bit of a chippy expert and this one as gone right in my top 10 for sure, proof of the pudding was consistency, stopped for my lunch I think yesterday had the same my favourite fish chips and curry again first class could not fault it, I’m a Manchester lad so know me chippies and what a good one looks like, for sure absolutely deserving of my glowing review, I shall absolutely be a regular now, these guys deserve all the success they can muster first class products first class quality first class service that’s it they’ve cracked it Paul C

I will never use this chip shop again, they are absolutely useless, they have terrible staff that don’t know what they are doing, they never have anything ready and they take your money and do not fulfill the order. I have lived in Epworth for years and used this chip shop but when it burned down and was re done and sold it was obviously sold to people who have no idea how to run a business or a chip shop. We now travel to Misterton to get our fish and chips.

Ordered £30 worth of food at 6.30pm as much as the app kept updating… just eat… we received our order at9pm,ridiculous when we live in Belton. Family ordered from here a few times,no complaints… just poured absolutely freezing cold curry sauce over my food,not impressed,totally ruined and another guest said it was the worst mixed meat,sauce and chips they’d ever consumed… Belton better. Disappointed isn’t the word and won’t be ordering or recommending again… thanks but No thanks.

I placed my order via the website using just eat. The delivery time was amazingly fast, the food was superb too. I love spam fritters and this is the first one Ive had from oceans 52 and it definitely wont be the last. Unless my ticker tells me otherwise. The spam fritter was unbelievable. The best ive ever had.

Don’t even bother ordering on line! I ordered 40 minutes in advance from the pub where I could have comfortably eaten fish and chips! I got a confirmation that it was being prepared do headed off at 7, a confused looking lad at the counter eventually responded to my question re my order, but never really came back. So loads of people waiting, all guessing what to do and whether to say anything? A young man that seemed to know them ordered:got his stuff:left…. A nice (too nice) lady came in from outside to say her order (on line) was supposed to be ready an hour ago! So I suggested she stand at the counter and asked the collective 6 staff if one of them would actually stand at the service counter? Clearly they were all bemused and embarrassed! …., granted I’ve had a bad week, but I respectfully asked for a refund as I could not simply stand there in the hope that I might get noticed???? To be told that this could not be done, what! I’ve just paid on this card! You can’t supply my order (or anyone else’s by the looks) and you can’t refund my payment?????!!!!!!!! I got nowhere with my protestations! So yes I will be popping back in to carefully explain the errors they need to correct. I went up the road and settled for a donner which was in my hand in 5 minutes flat! Stick to the order in which ALL orders come , presently too many staff counterintuitively as all trying to do the same thing but generally looking blankly at each other! Someone must take responsibility and stay at the main counter updating customers and advising new ones. A managed system would help this currently floundering businesses!!! Please avoid unless you have time to waste.

Normally get the same every week, always cooked to perfection, the delivery driver is brilliant as well

Fantastic fish and chips, the lightly battered cod was spot on and chips were perfect. I had the large and it came in two pieces and was a very decent portion.

If only other small businesses had this kind of owner and staff! On more than one occasion the lovely owner has told me how he wants to serve the community and provide a superb service for people. My daughter and I ate in the small cafe today and was the best fish n chips n peas I've had in a long time. Many thanks to "EM" for the friendly, welcoming service too. Excellent work. Epworth should be proud to have you among its ranks. The cafe isn't always open so do bear that in mind - or call ahead as we did.

Just bought 2 builders breakfast this morning. Everything was cooked perfectly. The produce was great quality and tasted lovely. The owner while cooking was very chatty and a really nice bloke. We will definitely be eating from there again. 5 ⭐

We happened to be passing through Epworth one night and remembered how good the fish and chips were from Oceans 52 years ago when my brother lived at Belton and we occasionally went and bought them from there. We decided to give it a try for old times sake. How glad we did!! The gentleman who served me (maybe the owner) was so polite and helpful as he went through the meals that you could get that were showing on the screen. In the end I decided to go for The Mr and Mrs which was a large cod/haddock and a regular fish for Mrs. You got regular chips with them, a choice of sides, peas, beans, curry sauce etc and a can of drink of your choice. The fish was cooked fresh to order and was the best I have tasted for a very long time. It was so white and flaky and the batter was cooked just right. The portions were big. We are looking forward to visiting again when next in the area, just wished we lived more local. WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO WORKS AT OCEANS 52

Called in today and ordered fish chips and mushy was by far the best we've ever had and we've had quite afew so happy with them even called them to say how fab they were. Cannot recommend them enough lovely place lovely staff and super clean!

First time l visited and l think it will be the last l paid £5.70 for a children’s meal and all l got was a burger and drink they forgot to give me chips..l was the first customer let’s hope they get the rest of the nights orders right

The service each time I come here gets slower and slower. At least half an hour wait. While waiting for about ten minutes inside the shop, was then told to wait outside in the rain probably for about a further 20 minutes. When the food did eventually arrived there was no apology for the long wait. The food was overcooked, dry and overall very disappointing. Will not be returning any time soon.

Absolutely lovely staff, couldn't be nicer. Had a scrummy fish & chip lunch catching up with a friend. Extremely pleasant little dining area. Great battered Haddock, with lovely crispy batter. We will definitely be back.

Food is ok, but waiting time outside in the rain has consistently been around an hour! Won't be going back.

Usually great here but I ordered online and it was only a couple of minutes late which I don’t mind but they forgot my drink (stupidly went home without checking) - also the chips weren’t cooked enough and the curry sauce was awful. Such a shame. Fish was okay though hence the two stars.

The best light breakfast ever! The kebab was a reminder if twenty years ago,! Fabulous taste in every way. Great staff,!

Called in on a Wednesday and discovered after i had ordered they do have some specials like Cod Chips & Peas for £5.50 yet as far as i could see i paid £7.80 for the very same thing so left a little disappointed to be honest, The polite young lady did say i was offered this but clearly i did not understand what i would be getting hence my disappointment

Unfortunately Oceans 52 were not up to scratch today. We ordered a veggie burger meal, a MR special and a kids meal. The kids meal was the only item that came completed. The veggie burger meal came with no chips and the MR special meal came with no gravy, both seemingly nice simple fixes. However, the contact details available online and on the receipt provide a disconnected phone number and it has been impossible to contact the shop remotely in order to get the order rectified. Much better service provided by other takeaways in the village.

Went about 5pm on a Friday afternoon, they took the order and told us we'd have a little wait for some of our items to be cooked - the timings given were spot on and the lady serving even brought it out to our car for us. Couldn't ask for more! Food was lovely and as a first visit since they re-opened after the fire they have impressed us and we'll be back soon! (even though its a fair distance away)

Great quality, worth a stop off

Portions not very big and they forgot my curry sauce that I paid for.

Ordered on the website and food still took another 30 minutes, 10+ people with orders queuing outside, not the first time it's been like this apparently.. Poor food, missing items, incorrect items, other people came back to report missing items while we waited for our food as well, website was misconfigured and inaccurate. No apologies or communication.. Would have been quicker and better to go to Belton etc... If there was another chippy in the town this one would have closed already. Do. Not. Bother.

Ordered online, arrived 10 minutes early and told them I had arrived. 40 mins later I asked if everything was ok with my order and they told me it would be ready in a minute. One quick apology for the delay when they brought it out. Took it home and they had left the peas off the special. There were consistently about 10 people waiting, 2 or 3 or which waited as long as I did. Several people arrived and ordered in person and took their food home 10 mins later. Several people who ordered online arrived after me and took theirs home before me as well. Kebab meat looked pretty anaemic. I don't understand why it took so long. I used to work in a fish shop and even if they started cooking when I arrived it should take approx 7 minutes to fry a fish. How it could have taken so long is beyond me. Not fast food, a few angry people waiting outside and 1 person coming back as they had messed their order up too. Couldn't be bothered to go back for the peas. Ridiculous.

Would have put 5 star because we went here around 5 weeks ago and it was superb however this time arrived just as they opened to get order in early and the chips were overcooked and very crispy. The haddock and battered sausage were fantastic and freshly cooked though.

Having my first fish and chips since their reopening , May 2020. I have eaten at many fish and chip shops in my time some good some bad some poor. At Whitbys Doncaster, Magpie in Whitby ,Papas Cleethorpes , could go on. Must put Oceans Epworth up with them .for quality , taste, and service . thx Stuart

I’d say these are as good as Papas of Cleethorpes. Excellent quality and reasonable price. This review is based on the new operators who opened in April, I think. Quality. Hope they maintain the standard.

I have today visited Oceans 52 and ordered a takeaway which included large chips. When I got home and saw what was supposed to be ‘large chips’ I was horrified. A tray of chips - not even full is classed as large - unbelievable!! Even my nana would have a bigger portion than that !! RUBBISH

Great fish and chips sat in to eat with a pot of tea finished off with cherry and apple pie with custard the girl who served us was very pleasant and efficient all for £8:75 great value definatly will be back this time with our three year old grand son who loves curry and chips we'll worth a visit.

New to the area so wanted to find a decent fish and chip shop. It’s okay. Would go back due to ease and location.

In Amsterdam it is the fashion to eat chips with mayonnaise. On a recent visit to the Isle of Axholme I stumbled into this rather quaint fish & chip shop and requested a small bag of chips. The rustic maid behind the counter must of misheard me and dolloped on to the top of my chips a pile of brown sludge.I was aghast with shock but too timid to voice an objection. Crimson faced and tear stained I left the shop. Once outside I sampled this brown sludge and to my surprise it was divine !I accosted a passing Parking Warden and asked him to identify this mysterious but delicious brown stuff on my chips. He politely told me it was curry sauce and was available in almost every chip shop in England.How can I return to eating my chips with mayonnaise now I have tasted the delights of curry sauce ?My whole life is now in chaos.

Key location on the High Street, excellent fish and chips with a wide range of special orders. However the best part is always the friendly helpful staff attitude- really good.

We asked for cod don't know what we got but it wasn't cod, since when has cod been a square piece of fish. It was so flat and thin it was like a place tail end. I tried but couldn't find the fish, didn't taste like batter but a flat plate of scraps. Will never go again.

Sometimes the food and service at this establishment is faultless but other times you will get really poor quality pieces that have very little chicken on them. Sometimes you will get service with a smile other times you feel as though you are bothering them.

I went as a treat after dance and the people that worked there where lovely. The restaurant part looked amazing but the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend it. I can't wait to go again.

First Class Fish and chips. Crispy Batter, white Fish and chips just like Mum used to make from scratch. What more could you ask. There are many Fish & chip shops and restaurants that could well take a few tips from these fine fryers. Absolutely second to none in every respect. Can not praise them highly enough. Will certainly make it a regular venue and there is even a small seating inside area if you would like to take refuge from the elements all spotlessly clean.

These are just great fish & chips like we used to get in the fifties and sixties! Batter so light and crisp, chips just like home made even better than all those years ago. I challenge anyone to find better even at the coast! The price is what you would pay for any meal eaten in pleasant surroundings and spotlessly clean.

Decidí tratar mi propia de un pescado y llevar chip, y a estos precios tiene que ser llamado, y qué decepción!Estos fueron verdaderamente el peor pescado y patatas fritas que he probado, el tamaño de la porción de patatas fritas era bastante pequeña y la calidad era pobre, eran Pequeño, frío, duro y probado rancio, casi como si hubieran sido calentado desde el día antes, aunque era temprano en la noche.El pescado era pequeño dado el precio y no parecía haber sido recién preparados. Me temo que la próxima vez que se viaja a una aldea vecina para mi pescado y patatas fritas.
