I often get my mother fish and chips from this place, the staff are always very friendly and polite! The shop always looks well organised and very clean and the fish and chips are consistently good and I would recommend to anybody.There does seem to be some very old negative reviews on the net which obviously need to be ignored

We always use this chippy, my husband won’t go anywhere else, and it is always excellent, except for tonight ☹️.The supposedly large fish were medium at absolute most and the chips were very greasy and, at home, stuck to the paper so much that we couldn’t praise them off and wasted half of them.It’s such a shame, as it has been consistently good until tonight, but I would think twice about going again, not particularly cheap either, but normally we don’t mind paying a bit more as it’s usually so good.Very disappointed ☹️

The fish and chips are brilliant, equal best I've ever had. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced. Surprised by some of the reviews the staff have always been very pleasant and efficient. It is busy but that's a sign of the quality. I live in Manchester now but always go when I'm visiting home.

We ordered our fish by telephone because we like it fried to our taste - our order was taken without comment. When we arrived there was a lengthy queue of people all the way round the fish shop - exceptionally busy. I waited for ten minutes and then decided I should let the staff know I had ordered my fish about 15 minutes ago. The young woman checked and told me it was ready. She pointed to it in the corner of the compartment. I should point out that the sliding doors were not closed to keep it warm. I then queued for a further 10 mins - all this time the door remained open. When I got to the counter, I explained I had ordered my fish earlier and asked if she was certain it was still hot, since it had been stood there for a very long time. She told me it had not been there long and was hot because it had only just come out. I pointed out that it had been out for some considerable time (confirmed by my earlier enquiry) and I was worried it would be spoiled. She, and the fryer, assured me it was fine. Well, needless to say, it wasn't. It was luke warm, as where the chips. We couldn't eat it and it went straight in the bin. I accept that they were very busy but, under the circumstances, they should have told me that when I placed my order or not put my fish on to fry so early. I wish I had followed my instincts and walked out - saving myself almost £12. Very, very disappointing food and experience.

This is our "go to" chippie and that's praise indeed as there's plenty of choice in Grimsby. Fish & chips are very good and the curry sauce is excellent, always plenty of fresh stock ready to serve and the girls are fast and efficient. We never go anywhere else in town.The length of queue is testament in itself.

Visited yesterday to get some chips and fish cakes for the kids. Bit disorganised inside. Not sure who has been served and who hasn’t and the servers didn’t help. Once served, the food was excellent and tasty. I would return if in area

We live close by and use this chippy regularly. It is ALWAYS outstanding. The food is tasty, fresh and hot. The fish is well cooked and the chips are never greasy. Would certainly recommend, however be prepared to queue as it’s extremely popular 😊

Cant believe there are no recent reviews for this chippy - its one of the best in Grimsby! Usually a few folk waiting for their order but the staff are fast once the fish and chips are ready - no problem waiting whilst the food is fried fresh. We've been around a few chippies in Grimsby but havnt stayed long with any of them because the food was ok for a week or two and then not so good - this is the first chippy we've found to consistently produse crisp and golden fried fish and chips - well done Scartho Fisheries! Keep up your fresh fish and chip frying!

Really tasty fish and chips friendly staff. Only one point you often have to wait for chips as they seem to run out of them really often.

Used this chip shop a couple of times and although the owner seems a nice guy, the food is very poor. There appears to be hardly any fish in the fish cakes and the peas and beans are the cheapest quality you could ever see in your life. Fish and chips here is totally tasteless and I would not return after today. It is like chewing cardboard eating food here. To be fair all of the chippies in Grimsby are rubbish, you have to go to Cleethorpes to get decent fish and chips.

Put off using this place for a long time. Dont know why but wish we hadn't. Quality fish served in a crispy batter with cooked to perfection chips and mushy peas. Most importantly nothing was swimming in oil/fat. Marks out of 10? 10 of course.

Probablemente una de las peores tiendas de pescado frito con patatas fritas que he sido demasiado. Un grupo de nosotros fuimos a pedir nuestra cena como no queríamos la molestia de cocinar después de la universidad. Yo pedí un pollo, hamburguesa y patatas fritas, cuando llegué a casa abrí el papel para revelar una enorme nugget. No hay pelea, no hay ensalada y mayonesa no! Lo que el infierno!

Pesquerías Scartho utilizado un par de veces en los 6 últimos meses después de descubrir el excelente pescado de calidad. Sin embargo las ofertas de pescado de esta noche obviamente salido directamente de la sartén en el papel de embalaje. Esto resulta en un desastre cuando la comida grasienta unwrapped en casa. Permitir que el pescado y patatas fritas para drenar adecuadamente durante unos pocos minutos, en vez de servir a los clientes inmediatamente sería una gran idea.

The staff are very helpful friendly and the fish and chips are very good always hot and cooked very well it's worth a visit

We're lucky to have had this as our local chippy for many years and I can honestly say we've never had a bad meal from there. The fish is always excellent.

This is one of my favourite fish and chips takeaways in the Grimsby/cleethorpes area. Sadly,I have moved to the opposite side of Grimsby so don't use as often now as when I lived quite near.Staff are always friendly, as is the proprietor. Well worth a try.

I have done 3 reviews on the fish and chip shop. It has improved. The staff are chatty and friendly. The food hot and chips so nice crispy on outside fluffy on the inside. The shop is always busy but i always get served quick

Because this place is so popular, your always guaranteed freshly cooked food because it never sits around long enough to be anything other than fresh. Grimsby isn't short of good chippies and this one is certainly up there with the best the town has to offer.

Best place for fish for sure. I can't abide the skin on my fish and it's never any bother for it to be taken off. We often nip on the way home for a quick tea and have always had lovely fresh chips and fish prepared for us The chicken bites are to die for just delicious. Will be back again real soon.

The food here is always good, always hot and always fresh. Crispy and never too greasy. Several people have mentioned the queue and yes there can be a queue sometimes, this is because rather than having piles of food cooked in advance, they are constantly cooking the food and try to do it more or less to order so that everything is fresh. The only minor problem is the serving staff are mostly very young girls and can be a bit slow sometimes; but everyone has to learn. We only very rarely used to visit a chip shop, and this one which has changed hands several time has been hit and miss over the years. However, under these owners it pretty damn good and we now go at least once a month a so. Definitely recommend it.

Always fresh piping hot and never greasy, love this local chippy although not keen on the curry sauce, everything else is always good though, you can tell fish is fresh not frozen as is often the case at some chip shops.

I feel this chip shop is a bog standard chip shop. Offers the same as ever otjer chip shop and is nice. It does no5 do any thing different to make it self stand out, fair enough. Would visit again but if i wanted that extra taste and service would go to another one near by that goes the extra mile.

Best fish and chips in Grimsby, in England, and hell, even the world. You must eat here if ever in the area. You will not be disappointed! Try the chips and gravy.

The food is amazing and tastes fresh. Sometimes you do have to wait but you have to wait for good fresh food. So people shouldn't moan because they have to wait a while. Food doesn't take two seconds to cook. Best chippy around.!!

Really good quality but you always wait ages! Agree with past reviews, it's easy to tell a good chippy from a bad one if you've always lived local, but you can't just nip in and get something quick. It's not the size of the queue, sometimes there's only 2 or 3 in front of you.

I love the food. The service is goods especially for new training staff. I don't understand the haters on here the food is amazing compare to the rubbish and disgusting and greasy fish and chips I have tried in cleethorpes. The portions are good and the it's not pricey.

Great fish & chip shop,best in Scartho and surrounding areas. Always hot and fresh, not greasy, smell is great and makes you feel hungry. Staff quick and pleasant. All my friends and family echo these sentiments. The bad reviews, I can't understand? Perhaps it's other fish shop owners and staff worried about opposition? Or they haven't got any taste buds?

The chip shop is a standard chip shop. Nothing overly special about it. I had chips and sausage too be honest it tasted the same as everywhere else. It serves good food at a resonable price. Nothing special but it does what it says on the tin.

I live 5 minutes walk away from this chippy and I use it at least once a week. The fish and chips are one of the best around but the service leaves a lot to be desired. When they are busy which is often they have a system where they ask everyone in the queue what they want. You will then be served randomly and not based on how long you have been there. Sort this out and it will be the best chippy in town

I found the staff more interested in talking between themselves rather than paying attention to the line of customers. Plus having given my order I find out when I arrived home that I got given a small rather than the large I asked for. Overall very poor and standard chip shop that only survives due to only one in the area. If it had competition it would not be people's first choice

Fish very fresh, crispy batter, just cooked and chips pretty good. Fast and freindly service at a decent price. Our only complaint was a too much dye in the mushy peas!!!I was visiting from Florida and not disappointed. Thanks

This is the closest fish and chip shop to my mum's house so I end up going here quite often. Not much really to say about it except that I was dissapointed that they don't do a better line of pies, they just have steak and kidney and I would really like steak and ale or steak and mushroom. But the chips are pretty good, and the fish is ok.I will be going again, but would recomend that you shop around a bit before making this place your regular, but this is a very subjective thing and other people in my family really love this place. So give it a try and let us know what you think.

Growing up in Grimsby you get a fair taste for good fish and chips. Scartho's fish and chips in the scartho village are seriously seriously fantastic! The haddock is always fresh and meaty, and they're massive! The batter is absolutely perfect. And you get a fair amount of yummy chips per portion!The price is amazing too, especially since it's of such high quality.You MUST try fish and chips from here!

Grimsby and Cleethorpes being the home of fish and chips, expectations should be relatively high. Unfortunately Scartho F&C does not meet the mark. In terms of quality, one expects crispy batter, juicy fish, chips with good consistency of potato and browned to perfection; mushy peas should not be coloured artificially; fish cakes should taste fishy, herbs optional. In the case of Scartho F&C, the batter was good, the chips browned, but everything else was poor. The mushy peas positively radioactive green, the fish was very dry, and the fish cake was virtually all potato - not even been close to a fish by the taste of it. Service was however prompt and polite.
