Excellent food here. Beautiful Fish and Chips. My first time in the Fairfield Fish bar. Best battered Haddock I have tasted. Staff super friendly and gave me taster of their curry sauce which was also tasty. I would definitely return and recommend this Fish bar.

This fish is so fresh. Good portions and great prices. Halibut is also on the menu most days . Service is excellent .

Had Haddock & Chips. Chips were amazing. Cooked perfect and crispy (not greasey like some other fish shops)! The Haddock was ok but nothing special. If readers want to know why I gave a score of 4, the white of the fish (especially near the tail third) was kind of stuck to the skin & batter instead of a fresh piece that would slide off with the knife. Using a fork, I had to rake the meat off the skin quite a bit. Tasted generally ok, but perhaps it had been kept in the hot plate for to long causing the fish to dry!

Possibly the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Items missing when I got home, the fish was swimming in oil and severely undercooked. Couldn’t eat it, I will not be returning!

Newly taken over and recommended by a family member I decided to give this a try. Happy I did. Jumbo fish nearly broke me. Weighing over 1lb this fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. Will be using this Chippie again. Absolutely spot on! 👌

Great fresh food and friendly staff that know their regulars. It was quiet when we went in the evening rush hadn't started so we managed to get our order straight away.

Wow, the jumbo was massive and friendly staff. The fish was good and fresh and very good value for the size of it. It's near the hospital so used it before I visited a relative.

This is 4th time we have been an items missing yet been charged for them tonight was awful chips look anemic,fish swimming in oil and item missing i did ring and complain and the lady apologised about missing item but never offered us to go back for said item used this chippy for years and never had a bad meal but its gone right down hill since it was sold to new owner wont be going back again.

Expensive for so little portions ,I have a medium haddock ,was pretty much a mini fish ! It was so lightly battard it all fell a part and mushed into my chips ,the lady working said " I only lighty battard it for you nothing worse than a load of batter ! Well no actually love its the best bit and should be my choice not yours ! Would never go again ! Don't waste your money guys

Love the chips here, especially when using new potatoes! Dont mind waiting for items to be freshly fried (they dont have a pile of ready made burgers keeping warm like other places). The ladies are chatty and friendly and their specials are good value.

16 months since we last visited Fairfield Ordered the jumbo haddock with peas Wow, two fantastic moist pieces of fish enrobed in crisp golden batter. It was a pleasure to sit in their garden in the sun to have our lunch. Must get to Grimsby more often.

I regularly use this Fish & Chip Shop every couple of weeks as I find it to be the best in the area.

Over cooked, not tasty chips as well. Disappointed.

Very average fish and chip shop, but the service is very poor. The owner tends to serve first the people that she knows and doesn;t seem to bothered about the rest even if you use the place a bit. Nothing is ever ready and the wait is very long usually. Very much a local place and I won't be bothering with this one again. Peas and beans very cheap with no taste at all, the fish is okay but very small fillets used.

Went four days ago and as usual it was excellent. Fresh fish, crispy batter and tasty chips. We have been many times in the past and never been disappointed.

This has to be the best fish and chips in Grimsby and value for money. I don’t live in town anymore and only drop in to visit family but when ever I come home we visit Fairfield fish bar. The staff are so friendly and always greet with a smile.....wouldn’t go anywhere else.

We had a call in Co-op a couple of doors away when we parked up. Shall we eat before or after we do the Co-op. I said the chippy was empty, not a good sign on a Friday lunch, then a young man went in. I tòok the plunge and ordered two large haddock, saying I was working in Coop and would be about ten minutes. I asked do you want paying up front, the answer was no. On our return the shop was packed, people queueing outside. Our fish was ready waiting for us, we had a tray of mushy peas then the fish on top We were asked if we would like to use the table in her back garden, as the sun was shining, yes that would be lovely and she handed me the keys for the side gate. The haddock was massive, cooked to perfection and a great tasting crisp batter. If I am working in Grimsby, I will defiantly go back

Generous & nice! Cooked in beef dripping, the only way! Chicken bites are surprisingly good too. Only slight gripe is the fish size, med can be too small

Friendly place run by a large jovial lady who is very friendly. Sadly this place never has anything ready when you go in. You can always expect a long wait when you go in here. Food is cheap enough, just the wait is too long.

i popped here yesterday as we had a house full,and i hadnt had time to do my shopping!! we have had a meal from here before, my husband loves the home made pies.fishcakes tasty the kids enjoyed their sausages good helpings of pie ,chips nice.i found the peas very runny.its a very popular place for the locals.staff chatty and friendly nice place for a quick meal.Had to wait whilst it was being cooked, about 20mins.
