SCAMP in Glasgow City

Absolutely outstanding. We ordered each of the dishes on the menu and they were all 10 out of 10. Young staff enthusiastic despite the closure. But wait.......we can never go back despite being very keen to do so,,,,why you ask...well its now closed down. Now if this restaurant was in the Merchant City/Finniston or the south side it would have been packed out every day, but because of its location right in the city centre it didn't stand a chance. Oh and the lack of publicity did not help. So guys you have missed the boat on this one, mores the pity.

Very tasty food. Great atmosphere. Worth a visit. Staff very helpful with making menu choices. Near city centre and all transport links . Subway, train station and bus links within walking distance.

My two friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks at Scamp. The service was excellent and staff very attentive and knowledgeable about each dish. Thanks, we’ll be back.

Fabulous food, wine & service at this small non pretentious restaurant. We tasted some really unique dishes, all great but the standouts were the oysters, the halibut tartare & the hispi cabbage but to be honest all the food we ate was top class. Our orange wine came from Georgia & was really good & the whole wine list looked interesting. The service was exceptionally friendly & very informative. We really recommend this restaurant.

Went for the Monday tasting menu, staff were friendly and service was excellent. Food was 10/10, the best meal I’ve had in a while! Great flavours and well balanced.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and I was so glad. It was an amazing food. Restaurant did not look like a high class, just an average interior, big windows to the street. Nothing fancy. But the food and staff were AMAZING. Everything was very tasty. Staff was very attentive to all our requests. Service was quick. We had oysters, mussels, fish, veggies. Everything was delicious!!! I really like that concept that they try to use only local ingredients. It was wonderful to try local seafood. I can's wait to come again!

Honestly, I can't fault this place. Went for our friend's birthday, the food and service were tremendous! My mouth still waters thinking about it!!

Had to vote down the atmosphere because, inexplicably, Scamp was quiet, but this took nothing from my meal. This was a plus, and they rescued us from a booking fiasco elsewhere. Went with 3 friends. The menu is sharing plates, and the recommendation was 10 plates for 4. This happened to allow us to order the entire menu, including specials. From that menu, there was not a single dish that was not excellent. Finely balanced plates with good accompanying wines. Can't recommend highly enough.

Amazing selection of beautiful seafood with a modern twist. Wished we could have tried everything on the menu, even asked for the hispie cabbage recipe it was so good. Do not let this restaurant fail!!! Go visit you won’t be disappointed!

This place is good for exquisite taste only. Relatively limited menu. After seeing so many great reviews, was surprised to see the restaurant empty. Market fish was done pretty well. Soft, great taste. Although they led me to believe that it was a full fish but it really was not. With full fish i expected to get a skin, tail and fins and I actually specifically asked about them while ordering. After all , it was fillet just a whole fish size filet. No skin or tail. The monk dish was ok but didn’t impress our party. Service was excellent but for the food we probably wouldn’t go there again.

Stubbled across this place by chance by wondering around Glasgow with my partner. Visiting for her birthday and as we both love sea food, we had to try it. Was not let down at all, this place is absolutely fantastic, each dish we ordered was amazing and they just got better and better each time, the scallops and that puree were an absolute highlight. The beef cheek too, it just falls apart without the need to cut it, perfect! Staff were friendly, cocktails were a hit too. And the price is really not bad, being from Bristol, good restaurants are usually expensive so to find a place with this value is fantastic! Will definitely be back on our next visit

Lovely food and a really nice dining experience but felt the cost didn't match the portion sizes, a very expensive meal but small portions.

went for the set lunch but added on focaccia and oysters plus desserts. every single dish was exceptional. was very relaxed and quiet enough to hear ourselves chat. the steak bavette was cooked to perfection so succulent and just melted in the mouth. Fish was delish. pana cotta was the clímax. will 100% go back to Scamp

Delicious, superbly cooked sharing plates make a fantastic meal at an extremely reasonable price for such quality. We stumbled upon Scamps. We had no idea that almost everywhere in Central Glasgow would be fully booked at 6 on a Saturday night, but Scamps had a couple of bar stools, and we had the best gastronomical experience of our 5 nights in the city, even though we had previously eaten at one of the Michelen starred restaurants. We had 6 of the sharing plates, all excellent, with the standouts the Monkfish, the cauliflower, and the potato and taramasalata. Excellent, service, good wine, great value.

I’ll come back here and give it another go after being here today for lunch. Great service and interior. I chose the steak for lunch even though the specialize in seafood and it was kind of meh. Tough cut, paired with a regular knife and it definitely wasn’t close to tender enough for that. The chimichurri it was served with was excellent. Panacotta for dessert had a thick “skin” on it which it’s not really meant to have and indicated it might not have been the freshest. Outstanding and good value wine and cocktail selection. The oysters at the start of the lunch were superb. I admittedly had very high expectations after having had this location bookmarked for months and they weren’t quite met but I’ll be happy to give them another chance for dinner when there is ideally a proper menu that isn’t so severely limited.

A small menu with an excellent selection of fresh produce and seafood served tapas style. Absolutely delicious, was like eating stuff you see on Master Chef. Highly recommended.

We went for dinner here, the taste was good, portion size was small so we needed to order more, other than that it was an excellent service, sadly toilets are located in the basement and so burning hot which did not add to the experience.

The food was devine, the explosions of taste from various dishes, was so surprising and delicious, especially as I dont normally eat fish. The monk fish and mussels, being my favourites. I would recommend washing down with a bottle of Muscadet, to supplement the food. Must also mention the excellant service..

Really high end place. Worth every penny. The service was amazing really attentive but not in your face. The fact you order everything all at once and it just comes out as soon as it’s ready is superlative. A city centre restaurant that can deliver fresh quality seafood like that deserves to be a part of Glasgow. Loved it and will certainly be back.

Food was phenomenal. Menu changes every several months. Focaccia with mussel butter was very flavorful. Mussels with curry sauce were life changing. Can’t wait to go back!

Tried the Monday tasting menu, very good deal, wine list is awesome. Having said that, it’s not usual in Italy providing butter with focaccia which is already heavy and oily. Another atypical move putting risotto and lasagna in the same menu which is too much carb and the lasagna is very salty. Anyway, it’s a good good experience in Glasgow.

Really enjoyed this place for lunch today. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive. The food was superb. A little pricey for my normal workday budget but a great little treat. I loved the oysters, the sea bream was superb and my personal favourite was the monkfish tail we were allowed to try as an additional treat. Only points off for atmosphere because it was quiet at lunchtime.

Did a walk-in hoping to get a table on a Saturday lunchtime and we were in luck. Food was absolutely delicious and well priced. Favourite was the scallop ceviche. Will come again!

Yesterday my wife and me went to Scamp as a SMWS event. The food is absolutely incredible. We had three courses each and whisky pairings. Can't say enough good things about this place!

Really central location, super convenient. First time visiting Scamp. Service was really friendly, the small plate menu is a great way of trying loads of different things. Menu is a nice mix of seasonal things. Decor is nice and minimal with a bar area at the front, seating high up near the kitchen and the rear more cosy area depending on how you feel. We’ll definitely be back.

This was hands down the best meal we’ve eaten since arriving in Scotland 10 days ago. Fabulous flavors, light fare that satisfies, and kind service staff. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Not a disappointment to be found. The wait staff were especially brilliant, including replacing a drink that one of us had knocked over. Of course, the food was delicious, and wonderfully varied as well. One of the nicest meals we've had in some time.

Lunch menu £16 for two courses! Everything’s sick. My favourite is the beetroot panzanella, so many layers, the smoked yoghurt surprised me. I don’t like pineapple but the oyster with pineapple was really great. I would say it is the best restaurant in Glasgow.

We really enjoyed this place. We were a party of four celebrating my eldest son's birthday. Friendly service and great food- the tempura soft shell crab was lovely, as was the beetroot dish. Surprisingly quiet and nice decor.

Not impressed, the service was okay. Nobody asked how our food was. Staff were eating Pringles at the bar. We paid £80 and left hungry. The dishes were super small and even 5 recommended dishes were not enough for two people. If you want to enjoy this restaurant get food before you go as you will leave hungry.

Wow. What an amazing meal. We were surprised to get a table easily on a Saturday night as the restaurant had such good reviews and we wondered if it we’d missed something and maybe it wasn’t as good as it seemed. Well we were not at all disappointed. Every single dish was delicious - from the scallop ceviche to the monkfish with goan curry, not forgetting the ratte potatoes with home made taramasalata which was so scrumptious I could have eaten a bowl of this alone. We ordered nearly every dish on the menu and each one was a treat. On top of that the service was superb - efficient, friendly and fully informed about the menu which they seemed rightly proud of. Would thoroughly recommend and would make a beeline for if in Glasgow again soon.

We loved the focaccia, artichoke and the steak. The service was friendly. But the shrimp was tasteless and not deveined. For the price you pay, I expect poop-free shrimp. I shouldn’t have to clean my own shrimp. They don’t say on the menu that it’s shelled and not deveined. But 3/4 ain’t bad.

Dropped in for Saturday lunch without a reservation but this was no problem. Staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was chilled out. Don't miss the Scallop cerviche and the soft shell crab. I can't get over how amazing the food was so had to review... First of all thank you so much to the staff for being so accommodating re. a food intolerance, they offered to modify dishes and I had plenty to choose from, very much appreciated. My favourite dishes were the artichokes and the mackerel (that green sauce was magical), but everything else was really good too. Can't wait to be back!
