Very good pies at Saxon. Nice short crust pie with tasty chips. At great price too. Would definitely recommend

The shortest of short crust pastry. Amazing flavoursome filling and lots of it. Honestly one of the best pies I've ever eaten and I've eaten a few. Big fat chips. Mushy peas. Tasty Gravy. Not exactly local to Skipton but would do the 40 min drive just to have a pie again. Highly recommended.

As part of a coach tour we stopped here for lunch. I really can’t praise this restaurant highly enough. It is a wonderful little place where you can eat inside or out. Skipton is a charming town and the restaurant’s location by the canal is perfect. Staff are warm and welcoming. Most important was the mouth watering pies we ate. My partner and I had the steak, ale and mushroom. We couldn’t get over how “deep” the pies were and packed with quality meat and delicious gravy. We had ordered our pies in advance through the coach company but were told we could decide if we wanted chips or mash on arrival. The coach company seemingly got this wrong and on arrival staff said our order was going to be with chips. We asked could we change to mash (just two of us so not a massive change) and was told no. This would be my only negative as I felt it a bit mean. However, we didn’t make a fuss and the chips turned out to be spot on! Sadly some people do make a fuss over nothing in particular and we did witness one poor waitress really being put to the test by a customer. We felt so sorry for her but the reason I mention this is because we were very impressed by how this polite young lady handled the situation. Polite, charming and customer service at its best. Would we return? Absolutely!!!

We only had time for drinks and chips as we were booked on a boat trip. The chips were lovely - chunky and fresh. Service was very good. The pies looked gret and will be on our list next time we visit the area.

Found this little gem after parking in Skipton. Called in after shopping. Really warm welcome and good menu. Pies were full to overflowing, chips amazing. Panini's were also really tasty and we'll filled. Puddings also went down well. Great food and great staff. Will call in again when in area.

Very nice food, the Hot Pork Pies are excellent. The peas were mushy but I suspect the gravy was Bisto, but nice anyway. Friendly staff.

Me and my family found this cafe and were happy as it was dog friendly. I tried to order my daughter a ham and cheese panini (it wasn't on the menu but panini's were so thought it would be possible), to be told there was no ham, fair enough. There was however pepperoni so ordered pepperoni and cheese. They delivered the full Italian panini with peppers and tomato etc, when I said it wasn't what we ordered the waitress embarked in a full on argument with me at the table, in front of my kids. Saying that it wasn't what I said, then said well, we will re do it then but it will take a long time. She was so rude when I was nothing but nice to her. I will never set foot in there again, I really don't understand why some people are so rude, kindness costs nothing, and this person works in customer service !! Also the roast beef in my baguette was so tough that I couldn't eat it. My son was very happy with his chicken nuggets and the chips were very nice, but this lady really put a cloud over my day. Previous to this I heard her being really abrupt to a man asking for a second high chair. Not a good experience on my hols.

What a find! This pie restaurant is fantastic. The pies are out of this world, different fillings and absolutely filled to the brim with deliciousness. The pastry surrounding the fillings is wonderful. I had mine (the steak one) with mashed potatoes and garden peas. Even the mash is buttery and fluffy. A must visit and very popular. The staff are so friendly as well and very clean premises. Indoor and outdoor seating.

First visit to Skipton post-Covid and looking forward to lunch at the Saxon Pie Shop. It did not disappoint! Great pies - we had the steak and the veggie - both delicious, as was the pastry. Washed down with a good cuppa! Reasonable prices, good service and a pleasant chat with the owner. The desserts looked delicious too but we had a bus to catch - definitely next time.

Ok, I’d read about this place before we went but boy; it did not disappoint! I think we timed it perfectly as managed to get in just before the lunch rush. The lady who served us was lovely and even brought a treat for our dog. I had the chicken, bacon and cider pie with mushy peas. It was simply one of the best pies I’ve ever had. The filling was crammed to the top and absolutely delicious. If I Iived locally, I’d certainly be a regular. As it is we’re trying to work out how we can fit another visit in before our holiday ends !!

Walked from Gargrave to Skipton, and only went in for. Coffee, but having found such a quiet and relaxing spot we settled down for a spot of lunch. Nice pie, chunky chips and proper mushy peas as well as extra gravy….had to walk back to Gargrave to burn it off. Cheap and cheerful….well recommended.

Recently had a brilliant stay at Crina Bottom B&B at the foot of Ingleborough (one of the 3 peaks). It is entirely off-grid but the owners have done a terrific job in making the property comfortable, clean and very attractive. The bedrooms have been furbished to a high standard and you are guaranteed a sound sleep. The en-suites are large and are like those found in a good 5 star hotel. The chef produces great breakfasts which are substantial enough to set you up for the day ahead. I would thoroughly recommend this superb B&B

This place is in a beautiful location. After a hard day cycling, we we had run out of water and food. Although the tea-room was closed we asked if our water bottles could be topped up. The lady who owns the place was busy but she could not have been more kind and helpful. She brought us delicious home-made chocolate cake and filter coffee and stayed for a chat. Absolutely amazing customer service and saved us that day! Thank you!

What a lovely quirky cafe. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. We had hot chocolate and scones with jam and cream and both the drink and scones were delicious. Best hot chocolate drink we have tasted and in a nice large cup too. There was lots of cakes to choose from and they all looked delicious. We will definitely return for lunch as the menu was very appetising.
