Catastrophe! Visited hungry on Friday night because of the great reviews and tempting photos. The unkempt, rather bored waitress (who occasionally picked her teeth...) informed us that no food was offered! The inside of the pub very run down. Normally I wouldn't give a star at all. To all hungry people -> drive to the Polgooth Inn, 6km away!

A lovely little pub in a rural location on the off skirts of st Austell. Only 5 minutes down the road from Menacuddle well. Staff were super welcoming and accommodating. A lovely Easter roast and the lamb was some of the best we’ve ever had! The staff even bought over a bowl of the roast beef for our 2 dogs which they loved and was such a lovely touch. We were amazed with how reasonably priced it all was! Amazing value for money, huge portions and would definitely visit again

A small country pub in the middle of nowhere. A very local feel when you enter, but everyone was friendly and the bar man was very helpful. The kids meals were great, and of good size. Beware of the chilli, its hot 🔥 We really enjoyed our visit.

First time visiting. Sat outside in a marquis to watch our favorite Rock n Roll Band Play it Cool. We didn't eat, so can't comment on food. Pretty, quaint pub on outskirts of St. Austell. Worth a visit, but like most Pubs, Beer is pricey!

Visited today 20th May 2023 Friendly atmosphere in the Pub and was made to feel welcome. Traditional in appearance and felt homely. Good choice on the menu, fairly priced. The three of us ordered a starter and a main. All excellent, tasty and delivered in good time. Happy to highly recommend this pub and will call in again.

Very welcoming and genuine Cornish pub a short distance from the Wheal Martyn Museum on the edge of St Austell's historic clay country. We dropped in for Easter Sunday lunch and enjoyed the excellent lamb and beef roasts by the fire. Undisputed charm, friendly and a must visit when in the area.

What a find. Nice cosy pub, serving the best home cooked food. We had a delicious Cottage pie and Steak and ale pie. With a sausage for Barney our dog. It's an absolute must to visit when in the area.

We called into the Sawles Arms after a very wet drive down from Gloucestershire for a short New Year break. We received an extremely warm welcome from the owners, and enjoyed some excellent food and hospitality during our visit. It is a lovely little place and our two children enjoyed themselves too. If you're in the area I highly recommend you visit.

Visited Hang loose at the Eden Project (approx 10 mins away) with family whilst on holiday in Cornwall and needed somewhere to stop for lunch. Found the Sawles Arms on Google and thought we would chance it. A friendly welcome from the staff, some amazing home made food and the usual Cornish ciders and beers were waiting for us. Highly recommended for anyone visiting or living locally.

Staying in Newquay for the week and met up with friends, called in to see the new owners, Nathan & Kim (friends of friends) to say hello and have a quick pint 🍺 The staff and customers were all lovely and very welcoming ☺️ Really homely inside and spotless 👌🏼 We returned today for an evening meal and they didn’t disappoint 😋 I had the home made lasagne which was stunning, sooo tasty 😋 Hubby had pie of the day (steak & ale) Chicken, ham & leek was also available) also beautiful, proper, fully encased in shortcrust pastry. Hubby not a fan of puff top crust! Our son had a small battered fish & chips (although it wasn’t on the childrens menu) Nathan (chef) was fab, nothing was too much trouble. Desserts (apple pie & biscoff cheesecake 🤤) we’re also well portioned and yummy 😃 Keep up the good work Nathan & Kim, hope to see you again soon x

Dark dingy building. Obviously it's an old Cornish pub but the staff looked at me with contempt - not Cornish - very unwelcoming - avoid at all cost - very unpleasant - finally got served - quick drink - went in for snack but swerved that. Yuk

Despite using their own email contact form to book I had no reply. On checking the actual premises it would appear this establishment is closed despite their web site saying the opposite. There is a 'lease for sale' notice in the window . Sadly the demise of a good Newquay restaurant
