First visit since the refurbishment, what a disappointment, yes the place is lovely but the food, atmosphere and attitude of the manager was terrible. To put this in context I have been visiting Sasso since it opened, we were often greeted with a smile by the owner Marco and were treated with respect. Not anymore, it’s just a money making machine, 1 in 1 out. As for the food, definitely reheated, the ribs normally tender and falling of the bone were dry and tough (apparently due to the supplier when I complained to the manager), my main a chicken dish, it was again reheated, dry around the edges and tasteless, (according to the manager 6 other people had eaten it on another table and it was amazing). The Tiramasu to be fair was ok! The manager was rude and defensive, not the way to treat a paying customer! Sasso was our favourite go to Italian for a special occasion, not anymore! If you want a bang average Italian in a very nice but noisy environment, treated with disrespect and eat average heated up food, Sasso is your place. Suggest you look elsewhere if you don’t want the above A disappointed customer!!!

We have been regular customers of Sasso since it first opened. It was our favourite go to Italian on special occasions. Visited last night, first time since the refurb and sadly was a very different experience . It has lost its personal touch and feels very much a chain, one in, one out. My food was satisfactory, but my husbands main was inedible. When we mentioned the waiter, he sent the manager over. The manager was rude and extremely defensive. We met a couple outside whilst waiting for a taxi and they had walked out as food so bad and were on their way to eat elsewhere. Others were unhappy with poor customer service. Such a shame Sasso has changed and lost its way.

We have eaten many times . The food ,the staff and value is better by far than any of the best in Manchester by far . If you could.plain here then don't return or comment ,go to Domino's and be quiet . Top quality local business should be promoted not critiqued by cheap skates after a free meal and publicity. Amazing!! Couldn’t fault my first experience here. Special credit to our waiter Erion who was incredibly polite, friendly and helpful! We came for iftaar (a meal to break our fast) and our starters came out a little early, he was courteous enough to take it back to the kitchen to ensure our food was hot for when we were ready to break our fast! The vibes and services from everyone was immaculate. Will definitely visit again, thank you so much!

This resulted in a 40 minute wait to be sat down. There’s no excuse for this, all they had to do was not make as many reservations! Not rocket science really. To add to this, there was no clearly organised queue, meaning that people were confused and there were just a huddle of people at the top of the stairs. This resulted in people not being sat down in the order they arrived or sat down based on any reservation timings. Like I said, they didn’t even check if we actually had a reservation! Once we finally sat down, we discovered that the menu was also extremely limited! It was a special valentines day menu. This would have been OK if we were informed about this in advance and could maybe look at the menu before making a decision whether to even go there. There was no Pizza at all, there was no typical pasta (only fish or beef ravioli), not what you expect when you go to an Italian restaurant. I would never have gone in the first place if I knew that 90% of the normal menu wasn’t available. Overall, we were really disappointed, this was my first time and last time going to Sasso.

We have been several times since the refurb and found the food lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. I booked several weeks before for 6 of us for my husband's birthday on Sat 15th, however when we arrived we found that they were still using the shortened Valentine's special menu from the night before. We were expecting the full menu as no longer Valentine's day and there was no mention of a 'Valentine's Weekend' menu on the website. There were s few disgruntled tables who also had no idea that this was the situation and indeed one couple left. We did stay to eat and the food was fine but felt disappointed as we had all been looking forward to the normal menu. Maybe better communication in future or at least make it clear on the website.

I have been to Sasso’s several times in the past, usually as a special treat and had always loved the place. I was looking forward to seeing what had changed and was hoping it still had its Italian charm and wonderful ambience. I was shocked as I walked in to see an almost empty hallway with little character and a staircase with chairs stacked underneath it. On entering the first thing I noticed was that the tables had been put in rows looking like a cramped canteen, not allowing any intimacy, before at least you had your own space. The music was modern ambient music, repetitive and dull, replacing the classical Italian music. I felt like it had had its soul ripped out. The menu was a set Valentine’s menu and not as varied as the usual menu. Which is fair enough when you are expecting a lot more clients. I asked about the gluten free options as I am Coeliac. I was offered very little that appealed to me and had my partner not booked it as a special treat I would have gladly gone elsewhere. I ended up having a steak with no sauce as they only offered me the option of a mushroom sauce. It was very dry of course so I ordered a portion of spinach to help and we had a small portion of chips which we shared. The saving grace was the wine which was lovely. The dessert menu was bereft of gluten free options and I asked if I could have Affogato and told no. I felt excluded and very upset and told the waitress how disappointed I was. I said it wasn’t her fault. We paid the extortionate bill which didn’t reflect our experience and I have vowed not to return. Obviously profit is more important than customer satisfaction.

We booked a table for Valentine’s Day weeks in advance for 7:30pm. We arrived on time to see a queue going from upstairs to nearly outside. There was no communication from any staff members at all about how long we would be waiting or any apologies for the wait. After nearly an hour, we were seated at our table which was a tiny table shoved in the corner facing a wall. After looking at the menu prior to coming, me and my partner had decided on what we wanted - it was then we were told they had none of these (any pizza or carbonara!!) and were handed a tiny set menu with nothing we fancied. We both chose the steak, which we ordered with a waiter and 10 mins after another waiter came and said the other one forgot to put it through! The steak was bang average and the chips were not great at all for the price, was still hungry after. I took the service charge off for the first time in my life, we were planning on staying the whole 2 hours but ended up staying around just under an hour it was that bad and going somewhere else for some drinks after. We felt rushed and there was huge queues right next to us whilst we were eating - I am not normally too fussy and have never left a review but will 100% not be returning even though i heard good things about this place.

Took over 30 mins to be seated amid the chaos of the staff running around trying to keep up with the overcrowded restaurant. Wish I could have rated the food but we left before service as once finally seated no one bothered to come and take our drink order let our alone food choices! To be honest, the decor looks great and could deliver so much but the greed of overbooking has left the experience lacking in all categories! Won’t return and would encourage others to think twice before booking.

Really disappointing overall, took 15 minutes to be sat to a table (after being taken to a table just to find another couple already sat on it). Service was a massive let-down, after 40 minutes of being sat at the table we had not been asked our drinks order. Our starter arrived after over an hour of being a sat, which was simply put, a burnt garlic bread with sliced tomato on it. Mains were disappointing, even more so after waiting 1.5hrs for them to arrive, same sort of food that would be in a microwave meal. Overall, an obvious overbooking, unprepared staff and a clear money-grab attempt from the management taking advantage of Valentines day. Do not recommend, avoid.

We arrived just before 7pm and it was crowded in the bar area with people waiting for tables so we got a drink and joined the chaos - no order, no queue just people standing so we assumed someone would shout table booking names out to ensure people got seated as per their booking time. How wrong I was! 7.43pm we were finally seated - because the maître d' seemed to have zero system in place nor respect for booking times and was just picking people he liked the look of it would seem. 8 couples were seated before us, all of which had told us they weren’t booked in until 7.30! At this point I had spoken to the maître d' and another member of staff twice to advise our booking was for 7pm and both times I was greeted with a smile and then they would pluck another couple from behind us that had arrived after us. It was a really, really poor start to our night and we were so hungry. So, so hungry. So hungry….. imagine our disappointment when we were finally seated to see a reduced menu! No mention of this on the website or social media or on OpenTable. Not only was the menu reduced it was pathetic, and I heard several other diners complaining around us of the same nature. Nothing on the menu was appealing to me so I opted for the Fillet. Being a steak connoisseur I was excited as a fillet can never be a bad option and I loveeeee steak. So in my 16 years of eating steak in restaurants, I’ve officially found the worst. It was chewy, bland and cold. The chips were anemic - my partners were over cooked. It was impossible to get a member of staffs attention to send it back, I waited around 15 minutes to get someone’s attention but by the time someone came over to check I just wanted to eat up and leave so I picked at the chips, left the steak and waited for the plates to be cleared so I could raise my complaint…. 25 minutes after finishing our plates were finally cleared. I raised my complaint and was met with ‘oh well we’ve sold loads of steak tonight and not had any complaints but I’ll tell the chef’.. great, no offer of a replacement or something to fill my absolutely empty stomach at this point (now 9.15pm). We asked for the bill, paid up and left. Left in such a rush we didn’t realise we’d paid a service charge!!!!!!!!! For what service?! Our night was ruined, I was starving so we agreed to call it a night and go home - our original plan was to go for a few drinks after as we don’t ever get time together due to our jobs and last night was our only opportunity having both finally got a night off to spend time together and it was ruined because you decided to over-stuff your restaurant, under deliver with the offerings and not provide any recompense for the poor experience. Judging by other reviews, I can see I wasn’t the only person who felt this way. You should refund those who have raised complaints and take this as a learning curve - limit your couverts, honour table bookings, so not prioritise walk ins (not once was our name taken to see if we had booked) and stop being greedy.

The restaurant was very busy (Valentines evening)with a long queue to be seated (45 minute wait) but demonstrates how popular it is. The staff were very friendly although pressured to try and deal with everyone. The food was very good although there were long gaps between courses. This didn't bother us too much as we were in no rush. We enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere which, even though the restaurant was full, was so loud that we couldn't have a conversation.

For such a chaotic experience, you’d expect at least a small goodwill gesture—perhaps a complimentary Prosecco—but there was nothing. People were visibly frustrated, walking out and complaining, and it was clear the restaurant had overbooked and couldn’t manage the demand. We’ve always said great things about this restaurant , but after this disaster of an evening, we’re seriously reconsidering whether we’ll return.

Having not been to Sasso since the re-furb, and a couple of years prior to that where we had found the food average at best, we plumped to try the restaurant again on Valentines evening 2025. Something wasn't quite right when we arrived for our 20.30pm booking, as scores of groups and couples were queuing on the stairs, all on the ground floor with said queue building behind us out the front door. Communication was non existent with no maître d' or other member of staff coming to apologise for the wait or advise how long the delay would be. When we reached the queue of people on the first floor, a couple were being seated who had an earlier reservation than us at 8pm - they were seated at 8.45pm. Bar staff were obviously rushed off their feet, but there was no engagement from anyone to offer us a drink, paid for or otherwise while we wait. It was also disappointing to see cocktail puree / mix being poured out of a pre-mixed bag given the prices, something you wouldn't normally catch seated in the restaurant. We decided to give up on our reservation, with the view if service and communication was poor before even being seated, this would long continue into any meal and we would be left with slim pickings from the menu. There's no denying the re-furb is beautiful, the restaurant / chain are obviously trying to portray a more upmarket feel (and some of the prices reflect that) but this experience was anything but. I appreciate it was a busy evening, and potentially maybe something had happened E.g staff sickness but to have zero communication and sense of arrogance is unacceptable and below par. What a contrast, to Mr Chongs over the road who managed to squeeze us in at short notice, and even apologised for the wait while they made us up a table! My score is based on this experience and previous findings of the food not being anything significantly better than average. Save your time and try the excellent independent independent Italian restaurants in the area - Osteria Sapori in Whaley Bridge and Colosseo in Hayfield where the food, service and ambience are a country mile ahead.

Me and my partner usually come to this restaurant as the food is always amazing, the service is great and overall a lovely Italian. Unfortunately, on valentines we mistakenly booked a table. This was a disappointment from the start. There was a queue out of the door, there was no system as to who arrived or booked first. It was a free for all! After 45 minutes we were crammed onto a small table. We had to ask for menus after 10 minutes. It then took another 10 minutes for a server to come over and take our drinks order. We were shocked to see it was actually a set menu, luckily there was food on the menu we would both eat but I think it’s appalling we were not informed of this, I checked the website and could not see anywhere that stated it was a set menu. It took around 30/40 minutes to eventually order both drinks and food. Surprisingly both drinks and food came out within under 10 minutes, which is either a good or bad sign - who knows! It is such a shame that so many people had booked and thought they would have a romantic meal out. I did feel for the staff as this was not there fault, all staff seemed very stressed, I presume it would be higher management that has made the decision to be greedy and over book. However, no apology was given to us or even an explanation on why this has happened. It’s not rocket science to work out what has caused the chaos but to completely ignore the situation made it feel worse. Very disappointing.

Beautiful restaurant and attentive staff who sadly had no concept of how food should be served. Our food was served cold and on a cold plate, plus bacon on a vegetarian meal...... One meal went back three times before they got it right, mine took two attempts to get it right. The staff didn't seem bothered that the food was cold and couldn't understand why you'd serve food on a warm plate. The food, once it was prepared correctly was nice. I was very surprised to see a 10% service charge on the bill after all the problems with the food, I asked for this to be taken off the bill which it was. I explained how disappointing the evening was as it was my friend's birthday. After paying the bill a portion of Tiramisu with a candle was brought out whilst the staff sang happy birthday, which was a nice gesture, just lacked spoons which arrived afterwards.

We couldn't wait to go back and try Sasso after their refurbishment. We last went about 8 years, so I was excited to go back, and it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, they were very busy, but we sat down straight away and served in a good, timely manner. Great service, friendly staff, and food were amazing. I had scallops to start and pulled beef ravioli for my main and both delicious. Didn't need any side dishes. Staff were very busy but did exactly what they were supposed to, and it ran like clockwork. It's a great restaurant, and we will be back. See you soon x 🙂

Having dined here since the days it was known as Conti, my wife and I had both looked forward to an evening reservation in Sasso after their recent refurbishment. Sadly it was a disappointment from the beginning! Staff greeted us with remarks that they were very busy and would not be sure when our 19.30 reservation would be available. There was an offer to stand at a packed out small bar, noting that the previously provided guest seating had been removed during the refurbishment. We were very nearly to leave and find another restaurant when the manager seated us. Strangely the manager who seated us played off that his team were 'jokingly' saying they couldn't guarantee a reserved table time! Had a different approach been taken then we would have not been considering leaving and going elsewhere. The refurbishment looks good and the food still lovely, however the place has been packed out with tables to the point there is little space for staff and customers to move about. This change has all led to a chaotic experience and a poor show on ambience, in comparison to the many family meals and celebrations of the past we have enjoyed at this restaurant. Sadly, the service experience was also disorientated with our meals first being served to other diners and the meals of others being served to our table first in error. There didn’t appear to be any single waiter taking responsibility to look after each table either, which is often the best way to create a personal sense of hospitality. When we were served our main meals the waiter didn’t offer to order more drinks or take away our empty glasses. We chose to leave after our mains in favor of desserts, cocktails and wine elsewhere. The manager did see our poor experience and make an apology when we left, with the justification of it being a busy night. I dont think there was much he could have done to avoid the shortcomings of our experience and could also see other diners were seeing similar issues. In my opinion the place has taken on far too many tables for the space available, which could continue to impact the reputation of this very popular restaurant. Hopefully its just teething problems and potentially a new staff team finding their feet. Its rare that my wife and I manage an evening out together and with a long awaited evening ending in disappointment, we will be in two minds about choosing Sasso when the opportunity next arises for a date evening out.

Booked a table for 4 adults on our first visit after refurbishment. Very impressive decor and prompt service at the table. In terms of the menu the seafood risotto was lacking a little taste and there was no risotto for vegetarians. The big disappointment was the fillet steak which was average and for £34 it was very disappointing and overpriced. Overall a good experience let down by certain aspects in the menu and the steak.

A beautiful restraunt, we went there as a family of 14 for a gathering and the service was incredible. Would highly recommend for groups, the atmosphere was lovely. The food was of mixed quality, everyone agreed the starters were all delicious, however people who had steaks for main were less impressed, as it had many streaks of fat in it. The carbonara was perfectly done, and so was other mains. The steaks were most likely an issue with the supplier, not the restaurant. For desert I would recommend any of the gelato as that was very nice, but not the cheesecake.. that didn't go down so well. Overall, it was a lovely restaurant (albeit expensive) with mixed quality food, some absolutely wonderful, some not so.

We've been going to this restaurant for many many years, and have obviously enjoyed the food and ambience. It was our first visit since it reopened after the refurbishment, and I must say I was underwhelmed. The staff have changed, and although friendly, we didn't feel as welcome as we had previously- but this is a minor issue compared to the new menu. Sasso used to be very good value for money, and although it had become expensive prior to the refurbishment, I thought that today's prices didn't match up to the quality of the food served. Portions were generous, but the food was very bland - not what you expect from Italian food - and the menu included some new and at first glance, interesting options, it did however miss a number of my favourites from the old menu. There was no calzone pizza, no cannelloni and no chicken pasta dishes at all. We all chose something new from the menu and everyone found it bland, and everyone said that they wouldn't have the same meal again! I must say that the renovation is a huge improvement, and although the ambience wasn't great in the corner we were seated, the old conservatory area looked fabulous, and was certainly buzzing. I will not be coming back, which is a shame after 10+ years, but there are better Italian restaurants in the area which offer better value and certainly more flavoursome food.

We went yesterday for Xmas dinner 25/12/2024 Sitting 3.30 pm The food was terrible and the waiters the same, also the manager . The Xmas dinner came out as the meat, then a whole plate of slop, we couldn't differentiate potatoes from parsnips and the veg wasn't even there, remainders of what the last dinners had been served previously I guess, the waitress said 'sorry we've ran out of veg " and walked off ....can you believe ?? On speaking to the manager he said it's Xmas and we're unindated with people .. I swear the worst everything I have experienced, no care, no professional manner, just oh well it's Xmas . The dessert (rum ba ba )no rum to be seen , the sponge was a rock 🪨 and had squirty cream in the middle ...tough as old boots I swear .. we hardly touched a thing . The manager made us pay and took one bottle of wine off the bill ..the dinner was £75, the worst experience of my life.

Can't fault the service, spot on, attentive. Food, just average. I tasted a variety of meals around our large family table, and many sauces lacked any depth and seasoning. My friend ate a £27 salmon dish and it was on a pea puree that tasted of barely anything. Small salmon, pea puree and some roasted new potatoes, £27.!!!. I ate seafood risotto and it was OK, bit basic for a supposedly proper Italian. Carbonara was average too. Pizza was poor. I arrived at 6pm, didn't get my main until 730pm Underwhelmed.

Absolutely faultless. Party of 9 attended our Christmas Party last night (12/12) and everyone enjoyed themselves. My fillet steak was cooked to perfection, and others enjoyed their meals also. Popped in on a very rare date night out. They accommodated us and seated us quickly which we were pleased with. The food was ok but very expensive. I feel the mains of chicken on a creamy garlic sauce and rib eye steak were underwhelming and lacking a side of veg. For the price we expected much better. Sadly we won't be returning as locally there are better places to eat. We were disappointed as previously Sasso used to be so much better!

Nice food and beautiful surroundings, drinks were really nice too - cocktails were good. There was a bit of a wait when we arrive despite booking a table. Food prices were high, quality was good but a few things not perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful but it was busy and hard to get their attention at times. Lobster ravioli was OK, not the best I've had but really nice, the pistachio cheesecake was very nice but the ice cream was the best part of the dish.

Absolutely excellent! We stayed the night in Disley and hadn't really planned where to eat. It turns out that was a stroke of genius on our part because we found this place. The atmosphere was great. The decor is great. The staff are friendly without being inauthentic and "too much". The food was throughly delicious and fairly priced for the high quality. All in all, we had a great time! We're very glad we got a table here.

My first visit here but my partners second. Absolutely loved it. Service was exceptional so a huge thanks to Erion who looked after us both and was the perfect waiter. He had great recommendations,(the Tiramisu was divine), great confidence and personality. Hes a credit to the team here and a perfect reason to come back just for his exceptional service. We shared the Spinach Tortellini, Lasagne, Garlic Bread with Mozzarella and Olives for our meal. Every dish was delicious. We will 100% be back.

Wow. This place has seriously gone down hill since I’ve lived in the village. The food was atrocious. The spaghetti bolognaise sauce was literally bright orange and looked like it was nuclear, hardly any meat and cost £14. Half a pint of draught lager was £4. We had to wait on the stairs for 15 mins before we were seated. Obviously when they bricked up the kitchen they were hiding something. Yep. actually hiding the fact that they now don’t cook like they used to and when they do cook it’s very cheap ingredients and food. Never again. I can’t even give it one star it was that bad but I had to give it one as it wouldn’t let me post.

Visited twice now. The food and service were exceptional on both occasions. The waiters picked up on the kids names & interacted with them a lot which was appreciated. We were aware the service charge which I personally frown upon, us UK folks like to set the tip ourselves. That said it’s optional and secondly I thought worth every penny for the service. The décor is lovely throughout and the place is kept well - It has A lovely ambiance.

I have been to Sasso many times and had some great times there with many family meals , however there seems to be a bit of a sea change and the object of the evening is to get you in and out as fast as possible . None stop mithering our group to order, despite our friends only just siting down and not even looked at the menu yet .. constant returning to our table to move us along. The food was sadly average at best on this occasion , The strawberry cheesecake was like rubber . We spent over £200 for 4 of us and felt the staff over our shoulder the whole time. We left and went for more drinks elsewhere rather than buy another bottle of wine at sasso as the joy of the evening had been slightly tinged with the rushing ... I don't think i will rush to come back for a while ..

Fabulous Italian restaurant in the heart of Disley village. The surroundings are absolutely stunning from the moment we walked through the door. The food and service is just as impressive. Our waitress was Georgiana who was very welcoming and friendly helping us make this a very memorable occasion. Overall we loved the experience and will certainly make this a regular visit.

The food was incredible - great value and so much choice. We popped in last minute and they accommodated us which was really appreciated! Would recommend the mussels and squid starter, lobster ravioli and sea bass pasta. The only downside is that the outside door doesn’t automatically close so whenever people came in there was a draft, not ideal for a cold November evening! But overall, lovely place to celebrate our anniversary

Maybe I just went on a busy night given all the good reviews but not seeing it myself. Scallops starter was fine, the main pasta meal could have been knocked up on a £3.50 budget of Tesco value stock. Wine was insanely overpriced for what was on offer. Anyone smoking/vaping was herded out the back in the pitch black with no light up some steep steps because they clearly didn’t want anyone out the front (fair enough but at least offer a viable and safe alternative). Had to ask repeatedly for water on the table and they forgot to bring out one of the party’s main meal. £42 service charge at the end and I’m not entirely sure what that was for because the service provided was the bare minimum. Place was absolutely packed so they must be doing something right but I definitely couldn’t see what it was.

Sasso's is a lovely looking place with unusual decor; has a feel of being outdoors in a courtyard but is fully protected from the elements. The staff were very efficient and got everything right, although they seemed a little harried. The output from the kitchen though was very poor: lasagne with no bechamel sauce and very little meat; salmon bunt at one end and smothered in cream so you only find out too late; zucchini frite prepared with old, bitter tasting courgettes. At the prices they are charging (c.£40 a head) the food quality needs to be improved.

We visited back in Feb and the portion sizes were awfully small. This time round it had improved and it was worth the money. The service was a little over attentive, we were asked four times in the first 5 minutes what we would like to drink, we hadn’t even had chance to look at the menu. Mains arrived and one of them was completely the wrong dish, quickly rectified but a shame. Mains were cleared, we were offered desserts which we declined, 1 minute later the bill was dropped on the table. We had full glasses of wine, no offer of another drink or a coffee. Totally understand they need the tables back, it all just felt a little rushed with no care what so ever. Food was amazing though!

We went to Fina last night, we arrived at 8.30 pm and were told by the waitress that they closed at 9.30. We were showed to our table and we ordered a bottle of wine which was put on the table straightaway. Our food order was then taken and that arrived quickly after. There were 2 other occupied tables and they both paid and left while we were eating, the waitress quickly cleared those tables and began cleaning and resetting them loudly and super quick to obviously make a point to us, we were asked if we wanted anymore drinks to which we replied no and then we were presented with the card machine before we had finished, no mention of desserts/coffee. I have never felt so rushed or unwelcome anywhere and will never return, shame as always enjoyed our visits in the past. We left at 9.15 not finishing our wine as just wanted out of the place, what a waste

The restaurant was relatively busy but the waiters told us that we could stay only for 1 hour as it was fully booked. We realised that this was not the case. The restaurant was 50% busy and was even less occupied when we let. The waiters happened to be in a. Extremely bad mood, and this can happen to any of us. Life can be hard.

We had a table upstairs ✅ Only one other family in the back room, however the waitress came in twice and did not acknowledge we were there. The other 2 table the. filled and guess what….the waitress came in and took someone else’s order. We were there for at least 15 minutes prior to the other tables being taken. Such a shames as the reviews looked good. So we moved on somewhere else and was served promptly. Go somewhere else don’t waste your time.
