We had a wonderful experience at Sartoria in Mayfair — a beautiful fine-dining Italian spot with elegant interiors. The Fettuccine Bolognese and Spaghetti alla Carbonara were both outstanding. Although we didn’t order dessert, our amazing waiter surprised us with a complimentary vanilla sorbet, which was a lovely touch. Highly recommend!

The great Italian chef has left ( in 2024). And you can tell from the minute you enter. The service is sloppy, the place has no style, the food is cold and mediocre. And over-priced. Our guest told the waiter 3 times that he was allergic to mussels and to remove them. Guess what was in the dish... luckily he spotted them or the results could have been catastrophic. Avoid this restaurant- it is nothing like it used to be. And it can't last for long.

We made a reservation for a pre-theatre dinner for my husband, myself, and a friend. We had previously visited this restaurant a few years ago and had had an exceptional meal. However, our recent experience was far from satisfactory. What on earth has happened to this restaurant since then! Avoid it there are many better places to go. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we requested to view the menus while our drinks were being prepared in the lounge area, the request was ignored. Despite the restaurant being empty except for the three of us, we encountered significant difficulties in obtaining attention from the staff to order wine. Eventually, my husband had to wave the drinks menu at the staff members at the reception counter, and we were able to get someone to come over. However, the staff were preoccupied with their own conversations. The atmosphere in the restaurant was generally subdued, with only the murmur of the staffs private conversations and the loud voice of the barman audible. Our meal arrived, but it was not well-prepared. The waiter divided the veal Milanese speciality into two portions (strange triangles of Milanese like some kind of food puzzle). There were no vegetables or garnishes on the plate, aside from a lemon, and the meat was very dry. A green side salad was provided, but it was equally disappointing. It was bland and tasteless. We also ordered a side of ‘Patate arrosto’, what we received was lukewarm and chewy chips. Throughout our meal, no one inquired about our satisfaction. As we were running out of time and needed to leave for the theatre, we had to once again gesture at the staff, who were still engrossed in their conversations, before they eventually noticed us and brought the bill. The waiter appeared indifferent to our enjoyment of the meal, more preoccupied with returning to his friends to continue their conversation. We lacked the time to express our dissatisfaction, as we were concerned about being late for our theatre booking and did not wish to embarrass our guest. Consequently, we paid the exorbitant bill for a poor meal and departed. This establishment is purportedly one of the finest Italian restaurants in London. We were profoundly disappointed and will refrain from revisiting. It appears that others have made similar decisions, as this was a particularly busy weekend in London, yet the restaurant was remarkably quiet. We have also noticed the consistent standard response the restaurant sends to every other poor review. This suggests a lack of interest, as it appears that they have not addressed any of the complaints, as they persist.

I took my mum to Sartoria as she was visiting for the weekend and it was the best decision, the service was impeccable and we felt very welcome from the offset. It was a very authentic Italian feel and the food was of very high quality too. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking Savile Row. Overall we had a lovely lovely experience and we felt very attended too throughout. Would highly recommend. Elena

If you are into your food, like me, you'll love this place. Four of us went for a 60th birthday celebration lunch and everyone loved all their dishes. In fact, everyone said they made the best choice! They food was so delicious and cooked to perfection. Also, the portion sizes were generous! I have to mention the service which was excellent. The staff made sure everything was perfect for the celebration without being overbearing. Thank you to all the team for making our 60th birthday lunch such a memorable experience.

Unfortunately we did not have a positive experience. Three of the six appetizers on the menu were unavailable as were the first two bottles of wine we tried to order. Service was inattentive and very frosty…it seemed as though we were bothering them, especially the man you took the wine order! No one checked to see if everything was OK. My lobster pasta was served cold and was very watery. No parmesan was offered. The spaghetti carbonara was too salty and my husband’s beef fillet dish was overcooked and tough. Frankly I could have saved myself the £700 for our group and eaten better Italian food just about anywhere. Overpriced and quite frankly very disappointing.

The bar is very cosy and welcoming, cocktails are fantastic! The plates were generous and food was delicious. We opted for a bottle of primitivo Salerno wine which is so tasty and paired beautifully with my fettuccine veal ragu. The staff was very attentive and friendly. I have been here twice for a relaxed business lunch during the week and on both occasions had an excellent experience. So I took my wife and some friends for dinner on Saturday evening, having told them how much I liked the place. The good news is that the food and wine were as amazing as I remember - I had the rock bass and beans, there were various pasta dishes and my wife and friend had the veal - all were utterly delicious. The Sicilian sommelier knew his stuff and chose us two fantastic wines. The bad news was pretty much everything else. We arrived to find our friends already sipping drinks in the bar area and I called the bar server guy over and attempted to order two Aperol spritz and a Laphroig whisky for me with no ice and water on the side. The guy had trouble understanding but after I literally pointed out the drinks on the menu he disappeared and asked the barman. He reappeared with one Aperol Spritz and two whiskys, both with ice, and two glasses of water. He also had a terrible BO problem One of the waiters who served us our food seemed to know what he was doing but the other had no clue and put the wrong dishes in front of the wrong people Whilst we had a good time amongst ourselves, the place was very quiet indeed - perhaps 30 people in the whole restaurant - and there was no atmosphere at all Given that the bill was over £100 a head, I expect service to be decent. I have had better service in MacDonalds. I don't see why the appear to be hiring trainees or people with little/ no experience - surely an upmarket restaurant should be employing experienced people - and ones that speak English and know how to bathe Given the quality of the food, I will return, but probably at lunchtime, when they appear to have the A team working

Even their Italian music is good; I’ve stayed just to Shazam the tunes. I booked this restaurant after enjoying Francesco Mazzei is food at Corinthia in Malta, and seeing Stanley Tucci also recommend it - I was quite excited. We ordered starters and mains, which were quite good (plating could have been better for the quality you go for...but this was on the servers and not the chefs). The dessert however was disappointing - we ordered a lemon sorbet and a Tiramisu. The tiramisu Francesco makes in Malta is delicious, so this was a dish we looked forward to...however this one was right from the fridge (very cold)...and practically a bunch of cream used - the type you get when you spray it....tiramisu has mascarpone however this had none of that - was barely edible. The lemon sorbet is supposed to be a typical Sicilian creamy sorbet, however this had the majority filled with ice flakes and just not creamy at all. When it comes to the service - this was the most disappointing - starting with basics, we ordered one bottle of water...they decided to just open another and start pouring it, where we had to tell them we didn't request another...they just made the assumption we wanted more even though all our glasses were full. A negroni sbagliato was also ordered, which they confirmed they can do....was a negroni but definitely not a sbagliato (no prosecco added). A room temperature ginger ale was ordered, confirmed they have non cold bottles available...served it and was very cold, when questioned on their previous confirmation, the server stated that is the room temperature they have. Regarding the pasta, two carbonara and one Cacio Pepe was ordered...the Cacio Pepe was very good....carbonara too, however presentation - you get the pasta rolled up with an egg yolk in the centre - one came presented that way...the other the pasta was all over the plate with the yolk broken on the side (apparently the server did that accidentally according to them - which is fine...but also presentation is key in such a restaurant). There was also an issue with the waiters understanding of English, which surprised us...even when requesting basics such as ice cream/sorbet flavours...they described another dessert, and I had to ask about two more times until they understood and I got told the flavours available. Also basic things such as the menus being taped together or with biro marks on them...this restaurant is classy and in a nice area, the upkeep however was lacking. Overall, service was not too good, the restaurant is nicely decorated, the savoury dishes tasted good, and the dessert I do not recommend. Unfortunately not a place I would return to or recommend.

Unfortunately this was not a good experience for me. Out water was a bit timid. He did not go over the menu. The atmosphere was dark and the restaurant was not busy. The menu was hard to read as the font was very small. I had to use the light on my phone to read it. I was not happy with the food. The salad was bland and the meat dry. The wine was the only thing that was good. I would not return to this restaurant.

El menú de bebidas ofrece una emocionante gama de Negronis y me impresionó la recomendación. El comedor en sí es muy agradable, las mesas están muy bien espaciadas y el ambiente era frío. El servicio fue de primera, un camarero muy amable y atento que estaba bien informado sobre el menú. La comida era divina - muy buena calidad, tamaños de porción perfectos y presentación muy atractiva. No suelo comer postre, pero todos nos decidimos por el tiramisú, tan delicioso. No puedo recomendar este restaurante lo suficientemente alto, escondido del ajetreo de Oxford y Regent Street - un santuario de la delicia.

Pretentious and over priced but food quality was terrible. The presentation of the pastas we ordered was not appealing at all. Remember! You eat with your eyes first…. Dessert - vanilla ice cream was icey, which tells me that it has melted and refrozen! The ice cream was also tasteless. For a so called Italian restaurant, the coffee was shocking. I ordered a simple macchiato and it was more of a short black with boiling milk! Frankly, this place is not worth the penny, let alone the pounds they charge!

Guys DONT go sartoria for dietary requirements 🙏🙏🙏 at the start of the meal I said I don’t eat meat and my mum ordered a scallop and then I found out the scallop (fish) had pork in it?!?!? Like who in the right mind mixes them together like imagine if you’re Muslim and you eat fish thinking it’s halal and then they’re pork in it?!?!? Anyways at the start of the meal I asked if I would be able to get the carbonara without the bacon as some places make it on comand and some reheat, the man came back and said that they can do it without bacon and made it VERY clear to the chef that there should be no bacon. I recieved my food WITH BACON ON IT and he waiter said well the sticker said no bacon WELL THERE WAS BACON anyways I got free food 😝😝😝 no hate to the waiter he was an absolute star just miscommunication

The food was excellent, when it arrived, (drinks arrived about 10 mins after starter, and side arrived aboutb10 mins after main courses) the building and environment is wonderful but the service was atrocious, poorest I have witnessed in along time across numerous different restaurants. From the rudeness and complete indifference of the hostess, to the poor waiters and food service, to the dirty table cloth and nontable setting, it was extremely disappointing. The only bright spot was the sommelier who almost singlehandedly kept the show another road. For a customer facing business, which presumably relies heavily on high quality customer service, the deficit was vast. And then to be charged service charge (which i refused to pay), and the total surprise as to why I refused to pay for service, remarkable Terribly disappointing as the reputation had preceded our visit and the service just ruined the evening

We were big fans of this restaurant coming to London. We made a reservation for four people 9pm this past Saturday the 7th of December 2024…. we came The bar was completely empty with no bartenders. We were barely greeted and then seated at the very beautiful table. We sat there for about 10 minutes and finally a non-speaking english waiter came to ask us if we were ready to order our food, jokingly I said I guess we’re not having drinks tonight and there is no specials. I guess….We were never explain the menu, maybe any specials nor asked for a drink/cocktail…..I immediately asked to speak to the manager, I was very friendly, but he was not, I asked him what is going on here, we were looking forward for a nice evening here tonight, I asked….Is this the bus boy that will be handling our evening tonight he does not even speak English. What is going on here? He did not apologize. His response was simply “he is a waiter in training” A waiter in training I replied to him how could he be a waiter in training he barely speaks any English is this some kind of joke! I was little surprise how GM didn’t try to make things better kinda like he didn’t care so we all got up and we left the restaurant! This hostess/general manager, really didn’t seem to care So we proceeded to got up with my party and we left and went back to Berkeley hotel to enjoy an amazing Meal at the ABC restaurant in our hotel. Very very disappointed probably the worst restaurant I went to in the week I spent in Paris and London. Stanley Tucci, the food might be very, very good here, but the staff sucks!

Having just visited this restaurant I’m afraid we won’t be coming back. Although the food was ok the staff were slow but mostly indifferent. There was no bonhomie or even smiles. We didn’t feel they really wanted us there! Such a shame as Italian restaurants are usually so welcoming and it’s not cheap !

The staff were positively lovely but unfortunately, the food falls far short of wowing and considering that, the price you pay for it is somewhat extortionate. I must say that there are better options around. EDIT: The copy-paste response, replete with the quotation marks left in really speaks for itself, doesn’t it? Looked up the restaurant on Google. I'm eager to try the brunch menu. On being seated, I was told it was the wrong menu! I was offered a different brunch menu or a la carte. I asked the manager to honour what was being advertised. He refused, and I left. Would have been so easy for him to do the right thing.

Loved it! We dropped in on a whim and were delighted. The Vitello Tunnata was almost life-changing and the Fettuccine con Ragu di Vitello was not far behind. Service was very slow, it took over 30 minutes to get a drink every time we ordered one. When the waiter brought over our third round of drinks I asked if he could go ahead and order the next one since the wait time was so long, he made it seem like I was weird for doing that. His overall service wasn’t great either. The food was mediocre at best. I had the venison rague, it was extremely dry and bland. My partner had the carbonara, it was way over salted and only tasted of salt. The best thing we had was the gelato.

I admit it, I'm shallow. I saw Stanley Tucci's segment on London where he visited this restaurant. It looked interesting and he was so enthusiastic. I agree with one of the recent reviews, he must have been paid to include it in his series. Given his reputation as a foodie and an Italian-food lover, I can't believe that he would have eaten at the restaurant I experienced more than once. To the restaurant's credit, it is a beautiful space. That's were the credit ends. After we were seated it took at least 15 minutes for someone to come by and ask us about water or a cocktail. And there was the first sign of a significant problem. You shouldn't have to wait for water or cocktails -- espescially when the place was clearly not fully booked. It suggests they've lost the thread. The next problem to emerge was that I think we saw at least five different staff people come by the table (in the beginning at least). No one clearly identified themselves as the lead waiter in this mass -- though I assumed it was the guy in the suite and tie. With the exception of the young man who brushed the crumbs off the table, everyone else was completely indifferent and seemed to be wondering around the restaurant trying to avoid waiting on our table. The food itself, while expensive, was mediocre, indifferent or not very good. Some examples: my wife had a salad that looked like a model for a Frank Gehry building but it was difficult (like the inclusion a large radish that you had to saw through) to eat. It looked great but difficult to figure out what was going on or why it was presented more as a sculpture than a food item. When we got to mains, however, the disappointment was significant. I had a veal ragu which was far more sauce than pasta. It was fine, but there was no attempt by the kitchen to balance out the serving so I shortly had a significant bowl of just sauce. My wife had their tagline cacio e pepe with truffle. Oy. The pasta was sitting in a puddle of liquid. The truffle was negligible -- though not the price of adding in the so-called truffle. It was also gloopy. We have visited Rome many times and eaten cacio e pepe all over the city and have never had it served this way -- i.e. sitting in a pool of liquid or gloopy. Beware of a Italian restaurant that can't even fake a good cacio e pepe. Finally, all of this was very, very slow. Did I mention the service was indifferent? I can't write about desert because after 20 minutes from when they cleaned away the dinner dishes and gave us a desert menu where the waiters (none of the five) visited our table, we decided to get the check and check-out. Frustrated and disappointed... poorer for price and experience but wiser about not buying into the hype. We visit London frequently. There are very good Italian restaurants to be found -- both traditional and innovative. This was just confused and disappointing and time consuming (time wasted I will not get back). Some of the reviews say they seem to have changed management. I don't know this being a first experience, but it certainly will be our last.

Siamo rimasti piacevolmente sorpresi da questo ristorante! Mangiare Italiano all'estero è sempre un gran rischio, nel caso di Sartoria decisamente no! I piatti sono davvero straordinari ed il servizio è eccellente per non parlare del locale, super accogliente e con un atmosfera piacevolissima. Menù semplice ma i piatti sono realizzati con grande cura e fanno quasi scordare di essere a Londra. Complimenti a tutto lo staff ed al gentilissimo capo sala. Questo si che è portare in alto l'Italia all'estero! Consigliatissimo! Ps i prezzi sono davvero onestissimi considerando la collocazione del locale, ovvero Mayfair, uno dei quartieri più costosi al mondo.

Dreadful service - incompetent waiters. Waited an age - they had “lost” our order. Md’H clueless and rude, refusing to meet my eyes when I complained. Sought to blame the delay on anything other than a total crisis with their serving staff. We waited 90 minutes to get our main course. Although they took the cost of the main course off our bill, the day was spoiled by the experience. As a regular customer, this is the last chance I will give them. Never again.

Very friendly and attentive service, but some food items where unavailable, which they did not let us know about and just served some completely different side dish, which was a bit odd. The veal Milanese was amazing, enough to feed a crowd, no chance for the two of us to finish. All in all very good food, service and ambiance! Definitely worth a visit!

Lunch there yesterday. Two of us arrived at 12:20, and at 12.30 both ordered the vitello tonnato which came quickly and was excellent. The second course of cauliflower steak sprinkled with black truffle, arrived at 1:25 nearly an hour later, we having complained about the delay twice. Clearly the order had been forgotten especially as the next table received their main course before us although they arrived after us. When it did arrive it was pretty tasteless Although the vegetable was well cooked, The saucing lacked flavour and the truffle lacked any real flavour which made us think that the truffle was not new or fresh. Or perhaps truffles are not flavoursome this year? Either way the dish disappointed. We were "compensated" by a sorbet and a removal of the service charge. A truly poor experience.

Unfortunately the quality of both food and service is not what it used to be. The octopus was chewy, the tagliata was supposed to be medium rare and it was well done (good meat but at £47 you would expect they get it right). Tagliolini were ok but no lemon could be tasted. The service was poor and they charge 14.5%. Starters arrived way before drinks and we had to remind them about the drinks. No attention and icing on the cake was a glass of white wine instead of Chianti. For that service charge you need to be good. Be aware that they add £1 for an undisclosed charity. We used to like it but yesterday was the last time we visited.

We came in with high attainable expectations we had a 6pm seating and the restaurant was quiet with 2 other tables seated. The staff lacked the ability to provide engaging service after we were seated. It took 5-10 minutes for our table to receive water and another 10 minutes for the staff to ask us for our beverage orders, etc.. long story short the food was very good, the service out a bad taste in our mouths. I truly doubt I’d return or recommend it to others.

Had a wonderful dinner here with family. The steak was cooked perfectly, the cacio e pepe is a must order item, and the desserts were incredible. The lemon sorbet really stood out, and we learned from the manager that it is made on site. Very friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere. The roasted potato side was probably the only thing they could have improved on. I felt they were overly salty, however I presume some folks might prefer them that way. The vegetarian in our group loved the cauliflower “steak.” Would definitely go back. Perfect for a date, after work drinks/meal with colleagues, or dinner with family.

Just next to our Airbnb so very handy and how to say no to the guy on the door who spends the day trying to get customers in! A typically frenetic family run Italian restaurant, wonderful service, lots of chatter between customers and staff, plates of food going back and forth all night. I had the Bolognese with J having linguine with prawns, we shared bruschetta and burata. Great food of course but slightly limited main courses but whatever works for them. I loved the vibe and atmosphere so worth checking out in an area with loads of restaurants.

Food: Oysters were fine but 3 were of smaller size than the others. Fried Artichokes risotto was bland-would not recommend. Linguine with crab meat was rich and savoury and would recommend. Pan-fried monk fish was okay- could be more moist. Tiramisu was above average. Sardinian cheese with honey was nice with a citrus note. Service: Attentive waiter, however took a while to get their attention for the bill. Atmosphere: Dim, modern, suitable for dates. Bit costly for the portion.
