You have to stop for a coffee, the real Italian espresso made with a special copper machine that is a beauty itself! The pastries are also very good, from the South Italy tradition. You can't miss it!

So sad how this place has lost its Italian soul. The atmosphere used to be created by the wonderful Italian staff who understood the vibe of a fast paced Italian coffee bar. Now it feels like soulless gas station service. Rescue what you had please, otherwise I will not be paying your prices just for the sake of nostalgia and loyalty. I’ve been a customer for 36 yrs and my parents, now in their 80’s, came to you when they were ‘courting’. Good luck, but for now I’m going elsewhere.

To the owners of Bar Italia, you better fix things up. So much has changed in a couple of years, the only Italian thing left about it, is the name. No Italian staff in sight, such an historical Italian place in London completely lost its homey welcoming atmosphere it used to have. Staff was rude, unwelcoming, uncaring, unhelping. You may not care about a bad review due to the high traffic in the area, but you keep hiring such people, and you will soon loose customers. Fix it.

Bar Italia has sadly lost the Italia part! Other than the bits of Italian decor and memorabilia from decades ago it’s definitely not giving any resemblance of an Italian bar! Not an Italian server in sight. Short tempered waitress serving the tables (bad customer service seems to be the norm now in London) (Brexit)? and waited ages before even being acknowledged. £12 for an Aperol 😱 Don’t waste your money here. I love, love, love Bar Italia and all it stands for and o decided to introduce my wife to the experience. The cappuccino very up to standard, but we ordered two paninis and o assume our waiter forgot the order. 40 minutes later I enquired. He had clearly forgot and ran to the kitchen and came back and said ‘two minutes, I’m so sorry…’ We had no problem with this but 10 minutes later, still no food. I caught his eye again and he apologised profusely. When it came the mozzarella was stone cold, the bread warm. Very average. When I went to pay, service was added. I asked for it to be removed and another waiter asked why. He agreed to remove it. The bill was not cheap but o paid and then asked for a receipt. The card machine repeatedly did not work…. Another 10 minutes and by this time I just wanted to leave. An Italian iconic bar that can’t make a sandwich or easily take my money. Not my day perhaps, and o doubt my wife will ever want to visit again. No one really seemed to care and that was most disappointing.

Have lived in London over 25 years, only just come here. Delicious coffee and food on offer. Plenty of outside seating. Only scored it 3 stars for service due to an arrogance of one of the middle aged chaps behind the counter. He seemed insulted to be asked what the cakes and patisserie items were on offer. But he wasn't going to ruin our day, and we thoroughly enjoyed the cakes that we have no idea what they were called, along with a strong delicious coffee.

Been a regular to Bar Italia Crompton Street for years. The awesome coffee and "used to be amazing" homemade Tiramisu was our regular treat during work breaks however, and unfortunately, our recent visits have been not enjoyable as previous. The tiramisu is now made with some different ingredient that has given it a rather off taste to it as well as it's served in a plastic takeaway container instead of the previous large cappuccino cup which added character to the tiramisu and kept it nice and fresh. The churlish manager who is always a character to the café and brilliant staff shouldn't be a negative in this review however I hope this can be taken into consideration for future reasons

Was told this was an authentic Italian cafe famous for its good coffee, great pizza and bustling London nightlife. Well, out of three, they got one right and it’s the nightlife. Went yesterday for dinner and coffee and was treated to a show of half of London’s police blocking motorbikes in and ticketing them in front of the cafe. Service was mediocre and you’d be hard pressed to find an actual Italian making the coffees there. Toilet was a mess and looked unsanitary and the seating is cramped and limited. On April 25th, 2024, we visited this restaurant as tourists to have a meal. Due to my limited English, I encountered a problem at the restaurant. The reason for my problem was the rudeness and lack of understanding of the waiters. I ordered Burrata cheese, and it came with only 3 slices of tomatoes. Nowhere in Italy is this cheese served with just three slices of tomatoes. It was not a satisfactory presentation. Additionally, the mushroom risotto didn't resemble risotto at all. I ended up eating solid rice with mushrooms. It was tasteless. Lastly, since I was in England, I ordered lemonade in English. However, what came to my table was not lemonade but a carbonated drink with lemon flavor. The reason for this was that I didn't say "limonata" in Italian. When I asked the waiter, this was the response I received. This information should have been communicated to me by the waiter beforehand. Overall, the quality was very low; it was the worst risotto I have ever had in my life. I do not recommend it at all.

First of all a warning: if you are looking for something Italian don't go to this place, dirty and narrow. It's not enough to put tricolor flags and a coffee machine at the counter to deserve the name Italy. Italians, the real ones, despite their defects are on average kind, friendly and welcoming to customers. Usually in Italy, in bars, pizzerias and restaurants you have a good experience and take with you a good memory. Here, however, it's a real tourist trap where the bartender, when asked if he was Italian, rudely replied "fortunately not, I'm Irish". Last but not least the coffee was really bad and expensive (£3.30) and this rude gentleman besides serving a poor product damages the name of Italy, behind which he hides, despises, but takes his salary. If you want good coffee, come and enjoy it in Italy.

Reason for this low score is that staff in the venue are really rude. For the 2nd consecutive visit now (after first visiting the venue two nights earlier), the staff were dismissive and rude toward me. Which is a pity as it is a nicely decorated cafe. A restaurant to avoid. The welcome to a restaurant is part of their service and it seems that they do not understand it. I'm sorry to say it's pathetic. There are many very good Italian restaurants in Torre del Mar (including several right next door) so much better to avoid the arrogance of these people and look for alternatives.

Bar Italia was revealed to me by a good friend (who knows all the spots). I’m grateful to find this gem! It’s a crossover from New York meets Italy and it landed in London. PRO: - In the heart of Soho - Legit Italian coffee (we had latte and cappuccino). - Expensive made-to-order coffee (see pic of Gaggia machine which probably should come with air conditioning and mag wheels for the price) - Quirky old school feel - Italian dessert - Real food like pizza, pasta and panini - Breakfast - Pizza made to order - Alcohol - I’m hoping … mom and pop shop? Looks and feels like inside and with the food - Small outdoor patio CON: - In the middle of Soho which I love but is bustling past 12PM - Small shop - Scarce sitting SUMMARY: I’ll always support mom and pop shops. However, this one I think is best on weekdays and before noon if you want to avoid the crowds.

Full Review: Available @davidtriesitall on all social medias Bar Italia in Soho is an iconic café located on Frith Street in London. Established in 1949, it's renowned for its authentic Italian atmosphere, serving espresso, pastries, and traditional Italian dishes. We found this place after me and my friends met up and didn’t want to go home yet at 2AM on a weekday mind you lol so we drove all over Central London and found this unique gem. It has been a favourite ever since. The café's exterior is quite distinctive with its green and white striped awnings, and its interior exudes a classic Italian café vibe with marble countertops and vintage décor. The ambiance of the place was just vibrant and full of energy especially they were playing dance-pop classics like Livin La Vida Loca so you can imagine the vibes. We enjoyed the vibe so much that we were literally dancing as we eat our pizza and sip our hot chocolates at 2AM. Everything is quite affordable and portions were quite generous. We had the following: Quattro Formaggi - £15 Hot Chocolate - £4.20 Torte della Nonna - £5.20 Cannoli Siciliani - £4.80 Torta del Giorno - £5.20 All of the pastries were delicious and the pizzas were fresh. We literally clapped when it got to the table. This is one of my go to places in Soho when I am still out at dawn and I just want to eat a hot meal that is not fast food especially given the time so definitely save this to your list for those emergency times. Appalling service. Me and two friends went to the Bar Italia on Frith Street on a Saturday night for drinks, as my friend had been before and had a good time, so recommended it to celebrate her birthday. She was previously given drinks tokens which we tried to use, only to be told that they wouldn’t possibly have given them to her (not sure what was meant by this but sounded incredibly rude and degrading). When we tried to dispute this fact, we were told that we needed to leave or pay for all drinks. After the manager stood behind us and eyed us up and down while we disputed what to do, we decided we actually didn’t feel welcome or comfortable to stay any longer and left. It was a shame as we would’ve stayed and probably would’ve spent a lot of money as the night went on. Wouldn’t go here unless you want to attend a pretentious bar that’s essentially a glorified Simmon’s. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend.

Un vero schifo di bar finto italiano che di italiano non ha niente se non un paio di magliette appese al soffitto. Caffè da 3.30£ che fa schifo. State alla larga da questi posti per turisti che si spacciano per italiani.

WARNING! Took a cab from vauxhall as they advertised as open 24/7. Friday night. Wasn't even a problem that on arrival discovered its not a bar but a cafe. Would have been fine with that. But the fact we paid for a cab there to find its closed and its listed incorrectly. To have a business in such a high rent area, such a simple thing to have right.

Everything was perfect. Italian small plates are a great idea!!! Garlic bread, ceasar salad, pollo milanese, risotto, and fried zucchini. So good. Our selected wine was just ok (pinot grigio). The service was great. Food started slow and came out fast at the end. Excellent!!

My daughter, husband and I, came on 31st October for the pre-theatre lunch and it was fabulous! Excellent service and attentive staff. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. Excellent value for money. We don't visit London that often but would recommend to anyone and we will definitely return.

Unfortunately the quality of both food and service is not what it used to be. The octopus was chewy, the tagliata was supposed to be medium rare and it was well done (good meat but at £47 you would expect they get it right). Tagliolini were ok but no lemon could be tasted. The service was poor and they charge 14.5%. Starters arrived way before drinks and we had to remind them about the drinks. No attention and icing on the cake was a glass of white wine instead of Chianti. For that service charge you need to be good. Be aware that they add £1 for an undisclosed charity. We used to like it but yesterday was the last time we visited.
