Best turkish food Ive had in Newcastle, would deffo recommend. The service was great very welcoming staff and a beautiful meal

We visited this restaurant a couple of weeks back with friends. Great atmosphere and we had heard good things. The staff were welcoming and friendly. However, this restaurant wasn’t for me I’m afraid…. When the bill came at the end of the meal… the waiter was chuckling to himself - I’m not surprised as it was a fortune!! In all honesty it was a lot of money for ok food. We had a good night, but unfortunately I feel it’s very overpriced!

Staff are alway welcoming. The atmosphere is lovely and the food is superb. Always quick service. We have been a lot over the last few years and it has always been a wonderful experience.

Went to Saray for the first time tonight and I had never tried Turkish cuisine. It’s safe to say I’ll be back the chicken wrap was absolutely beautiful!! The staff were great too.

We were staying in a hotel just up the road from Saray. Wandered out looking for a change to pub food and there was Saray. A great choice. Very friendly staff, an extensive menu and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Would not hesitate...

Our first visit but it wont be our last. What an amazing place. We were greeted like friends, the decor is beautiful and such a warm atmosphere. The food arrived with freshly cooked bread, everything was beautifully cooked and presented. We can't wait to return with our friends, wish we had found it sooner. A spot not to be missed in the heart of Jesmond. We’ve eaten in many Turkish restaurants and Saray is by far the best around. Warm atmosphere, the most tasty and flavourful food and fantastic staff! Will definitely return.

Owner is wonderful and treated us with extra care, answering any questions we had and going above and beyond for us. Will definitely be going again! (order the Testi Kebab it is delicious). The atmosphere is also wonderful giving an authentic Turkish experience.

We had previously had the mixed grill for 2 people full of chicken breast, lamb and other meats. Today we had the grill for 4 people which was mainly chicken wings and ribs. Poor quality meats

Lovely, friendly attentive staff. Fabulous, delicious food. It was my daughter’s birthday and they even set the the table with a birthday table runner and balloons. A chocolate cake and a candle - all a lovely much appreciated gesture. Can wait to go back.

What a nice place! The decor was tastefully traditional Newcastle building with Turkish elements, lights and pictures. The menu is totally Turkish which was very well detailed, I wanted a bit of everything! We ordered from the barbecue side of the grill which was not a mistake! Our choice was to go for the mixed grill which included pork chop, lamb chop, lamb ribs, kofte which was as tasty as anything as you can imagine. We were served by the owner and he gave us a lovely welcome and was attentive and professional and shared stories of where he originated, which was where we had been on a holiday previously. If you are staying locally, it is definitely worth considering. I will return.

Saray is the best restaurant iv been in, food is delicious, staff are friendly and is nice inside, the Chicken special wraps are my favourite but the mixed grills are delicious too.

Visited on a Saturday night place was busy but didn't feel packed. Food was great, Wife is coeliac so requires gluten free the options on the menu were clearly explained and the starter cooked separately to accommodate the allergen. Only pointer for us would be maybe have some plain GF rice available, without the added grains. The rest of the group was "normal" and our food was excellent. Service was good and we did tip, the service charge was added as standard but the option to remove it if you wish was handled really well.

This place was the best Turkish food we have ever had! The mixed grill and lamb chops were amazing, literally cooked to perfection. We got some baklava for desert and it gorgeous, me and my partner don't really like deserts and the owner gave us some pieces to try.. nicest thing we have ever tasted!!! It's a good restaurant. However, my lamb ribs were too chewy, the baklava too hard. Some improvement required in my humble opinion.

The 5 star Turkish experience. The best grill I’ve ever had in Newcastle. I have tried many of the restaurants locally but this is one of the best meals I have had. Would recommend to anyone.

We came to Saray for our first experience of Newcastle’s culinary scene and we were not disappointed. We shared the mixed grill and by heaven and earth was it a feast! Succulent lamb, chargrilled chicken, juicy koftas - it had it all. Top class service - servers were very friendly and professional all around - a great experience. A fantastic first night in the North of England!

If you want a feast this is the place to come. Top quality meat and plenty of it. Service is great too.
