Beautiful food excellent service

Great if you love a mixed grill probably one of the best in the city. But the starter plates are always pretty tiny

Went here due to the reviews on TripAdvisor The four of us weren’t disappointed the food and service was excellent My wife had the lamb shank and I had the sharing mixed grill which was unbelievable Chicken pieces, wings, lamb ribs, lamb chops, minced lamb, Salad and bread You need to be hungry and great value at £49 for two Will definitely be back

Excellent food and excellent, attentive service. One of the best Turkish restaurants and one of my favourites in Newcastle.

Situated in nice area of Newcastle. Easy to make a booking and plenty of seating. Teste kebab and mixed kebabs were very tasty. Although I'm not usually a fan, the Baklava was superb. Staff were friendly and efficient and we didn't have to wait long for the food. Good dining experience and would recommend.

Fabulous Turkish food and the service was very friendly, I had lamb kofte which was excellent, in the area there is plenty of roadside parking in b the side streets. Space is big and airy. Would definitely recommend

The food was very under cooked and chewy. They charge us £120 even though the owner admitted that he was not happy with the food himself. I will never go back there and would not recommend it at all.

We had dinner in a group of 5. The mixed grill was not bad. The Adana kebab was normal meatballs, the Adana kebab had no spice. The chicken was not bad, the meat was not bad either, but I cannot say that the rest was very good. We also ordered Ali Nazik and the meat was not cooked. Ali Nazik is a dish with yoghurt and meat, it should not be served with undercooked meat. The dessert served as baklava was definitely not good. In short, we did not like it very much.

What a lovely experience! You know when you want to go out and have something delightfully different, that's so well done, and well delivered, in a great atmosphere? This is one of those places.

So me and the wife had a meal last night we both had seabace food very good service very good a all round fantastic experience not the cheapest but worth the money 100% well worth a visit

We ordered the family platter. The lamb was very tough and chewy. The chicken was still pink and undercooked. The waiter asked about the food, we told him the lamb was chewy and not cooked well. he said “next time when you in tell them to overcook your meat”. We said have a look at it then he took it to the chef and the chef he even agreed with us. The food wasn’t cooked properly and rushed. He only apologise. The other Kurdish waiter said i will get 10% off. This is absolutely ridiculous! That night until morning I had upset stomach. We didn’t even eat much of the big platter and we paid £120 For rubbish, uncooked poisoning food. We left the restaurant still hungry. Please don’t waste your time and money in here. You will be sick. 🤢

A very good restaurant, hummus & falafel are so good But a bit pricy compared to other Turkish restaurants, wish they lower their prices a bit :-)

Typical Turkish fayre extremely well presented and very flavoursome, particularly the lamb ribs, although lacking a little in the amount of meat on them. The lamb was also a little on the chewy side but was compensated by a superb flavour. All in all an excellent meal with great company, which if not for beer being overly priced would have definitely been worthy of five stars.

If you happen to be in England, especially Newcastle, you should definitely go and try it.

We had been before and was expecting a similar experience but was unfortunately disappointed. Our hot plate starter was very nice indeed but it was the main course along with their famous chips that let the side down. We had the mixed grill which had been far too overcooked. This left our jaws being over exercised far more than necessary. The famous chips that they do are, well, not. I'll just leave it at that. Our score was in reality less for the food but ungrated due to the fact that the staff were very friendly and attentive.

We were in a group of 6, every starter and main was amazing. I couldn't recommend this place enough. Great service .definitely try again.

Food was alright, the bread and grill food bit over cooked and burnt, also bit salty.

Food was pretty nice, typical Turkish dishes well made. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, though fairly slow in service even though it wasn't very busy. The inside looks luxurious and comfortable but a bit soulless with terrible background music choices - I never mind Turkish music as long as it isn't too loud. Cost was fairly high, but as it's in Jesmond not exactly unexpected.

I’m leaving this review as a 5 star as I couldn’t fault the food or the service that I had and everything was tasty such as the mix grill I had and the chips. I must add however during our visit a member of kitchen staff came out and was arguing to the service staff which we could overhear was over a service charge and I believe it’s simply unprofessional by the staff member to have came out to the front of the restaurant to shout at the staff over service charge it seems obvious that the service staff had been affected by this and I hope that the kitchen member is dealt with as it’s horrible to see things like this in restaurants

It’s the 2nd time we visit Saray for family affairs and I can’t fault it. Food is stunning, the staff (including kitchen and management) are brilliant and the environment is amazing! We went yesterday for a family dinner that ended up in a proposal and it was the most special thing ever! Kudos to the staff they make the experience a lot better ! We had a mixed grill to share as we were nibbling on other things and it never disappoints. 100% recommend.

Fillet steak wasn't fillet steak it was thin slices of meat which shouldn't have been the price it was, it had grissle and stringy bits which a fillet doesn't have. My son even asked for it medium rare and they didn't mention it was sliced. Also my food was a bit bland really I expected more flavour. Plus we left a tip in cash but then noticed that we had already paid a percentage on our bill too which usually you get asked. Disappointed really.

Good quick service, staff extremely friendly very knowledgeable. Superb food presentation faultless. Because how much we enjoyed the evening we will definitely frequent the Saray again.

Ignore the bad reviews, lamb was not tough and it was far from pricey. We ordered the mixed grill to share followed by the baklava and it was fantastic. Will definitely return. Service was brilliant also.

Very nice meal on a quiet Thursday evening on my own, on business. It's the 2nd time I've visited here while in town and the food & service was again, excellent. As Arnie said "I will be back".....

Staff were very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, not rushed with our meal. 6 people, something for everyone.

The cold platter was good. The lamb was very tough and chewy. The waiter asked about the food, I told him the lamb was chewy he simply said “because it is lamb” The service was not so great, they would leave you as if the restaurant is empty. we waited 15 minutes to get the cheque (even though there was only one table other than us) and nobody came so we ended up going to the till to pay. Would not recommend the restaurant overall

I fell in love with this place the first time I went and have been a frequent customer since. Even if you don’t usually eat Turkish food, I still think you’ll thoroughly enjoy this place!

Absolutely awesome food, really friendly staff.

The portion was small and despite the fact I ordered meat and salad only I received loads of bread, more bread than actual salad or meat. Salad portion was tiny too. £21 for that was a joke. I'm not giving one star only because the meat was alright but very little of it. They've never asked about food allergies either despite my very specific order. Not sure where all good reviews come from🤔

The restaurant were able to accommodate me 30 mins before the kitchen closed. Still they presented the food to me well and it was really nice. Well seasoned meats and sauces were delicious. To be fair the restaurant was almost empty as it was quite late so did not really get to witness it when busy.

We visited this restaurant a couple of weeks back with friends. Great atmosphere and we had heard good things. The staff were welcoming and friendly. However, this restaurant wasn’t for me I’m afraid…. When the bill came at the end of the meal… the waiter was chuckling to himself - I’m not surprised as it was a fortune!! In all honesty it was a lot of money for ok food. We had a good night, but unfortunately I feel it’s very overpriced!

Went to Saray for the first time tonight and I had never tried Turkish cuisine. It’s safe to say I’ll be back the chicken wrap was absolutely beautiful!! The staff were great too.

We were staying in a hotel just up the road from Saray. Wandered out looking for a change to pub food and there was Saray. A great choice. Very friendly staff, an extensive menu and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Would not hesitate...

Saturday afternoon was quiet for some reason, maybe not enough people know about this fabulous restaurant. We had the pembe sultan followed by the Saray mixed grill and sea food casserole, there was more than enough, it was fresh, well presented and most importantly so...
