Sapporo Teppanyaki Liverpool in Liverpool

We arrived 10 minutes before our sitting time and the chef was already serving other people at the table. Our rice was made and sat on the side for 15 minutes and we missed the whole “show” that was given to the other 5 people. I would have rather showed up 10 minutes earlier to actually experience the show that I paid a deposit for .. very disappointing for my boyfriend’s birthday.

Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious — packed with bold, authentic flavors that instantly reminded us of home. What made the experience even more special was knowing that a talented Thai chef was behind the magic in the kitchen. The atmosphere was vibrant, fun, and friendly, making it the perfect place to enjoy great food and good company. Service was warm and attentive throughout, making us feel truly welcomed. A wonderful spot that we’d definitely return to again and again.

The food is very bland and I mean salt and barely pepper bland. The staff are amazing, so kind and patient and the personal chef service is really good entertainment. I would recommend if you don’t have a massive appetite or if your not bothered about flavour and your just looking for a “show” and a laugh while eating.

Did not enjoy the experience on this occasion due to the restaurant being so cold. They obviously have the air con on due to the hot plates producing the steam from cooking however the restaurant was not busy at all, there were 2 tables including ours in the entire restaurant and it is a very large restaurant so I can understand when it is busy, that creates heat with lots of people however this was not the case and unfortunately due to that the atmosphere was lacking. Though the staff were animated and providing a performance which is what it is about there, the theatre of it. You could see the performance was polished and routine , I have seen it myself before and we were there on this occasion for the benefit for someone else. Unfortunately, the cold temperature of the room overshadowed everything for me as i was sat very uncomfortably even in my coat and scarf. I had a few drinks to try and warm up. Overall the food was just ok, I wouldn't go back , it wasn't't great steak and very overpriced for the quality.

Absolutely brilliant place! Food was out of this world! So much fun as well, great with our 2 girls 8 & 3. 'George' was amazing with them.

The place was romantic and the staff were very kind, however we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated (even though we had a booking). Once we were sat we waited a further 45 minutes for food to be served. I do appreciate it was Valentine's Day and the woman at reception/host was very kind, welcoming and professional. They added an automatic 12% service fee onto our bill which was not mentioned when booking however it was simple to have it removed. We did the one where they make the food in front of you which was a cool experience however the atmosphere was extremely loud and i didn't expect to be sat with lots of other people at our table. The food was good but not amazing and came out a different times (obviously this depends on the food we ordered). Overall it was a good experience but not one i would have again.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Avoid! Booked a Valentine’s Day dinner for 9 PM at Sapporo Liverpool, only to be met with chaos. Arrived on time but had to queue outside in freezing 2°C weather. Once inside, we were sent to the bar with no communication on when we’d be seated. The restaurant was clearly overbooked, and people who arrived later were seated before those waiting for over 30 minutes. At 9:30 PM, we gave up and asked for a refund of our £40 deposit, only to be met with rude staff who refused to help. Our evening was ruined due to poor and rude management and terrible customer service. Won’t be returning!

Been here many times before so thought it would be good to book a valentines meal last night and surprised there has only been one bad review about this. We had booked a table for 8:45pm finally seated after standing round in a door way. Got our first drink after an hour and a half. Didn’t get our main til 11:15pm. Very disorganised and overbooked food was at best mid. Wouldn’t even give the service 1 star if I could. Came to the bill and it was £114 and they had a cheek to put service charge on. Got up to speak to the manager who needs a new job she was so rude and unapologetic with no accountability taken. ‘You’ve been here before so you know what we are like’ ‘Did you not eat anything at all’ rolling her eyes just beyond rude and I will never been returning. Not one person looked happy in there. Thanks for nothing!

So much hair found in food drink & ice cream too??! The cutlery is really dirty. That host??? She needs to find a new job so much attitude because they were backed up on bookings (like it’s my fault they allowed so many people to make reservations at the same time). Had a reservation for 21:15 wasn’t seated until 23:00 then still had to wait a long time just for the starters. Had to wait hours and there were groups of people waiting too. Was constantly coughing because of all the smoke and so were many other people it’s uncomfortable to breathe. Food is bland honestly just go anywhere else…😒

What an ideal night out for a group of friends - you get great dinner and a show! The food was fantastic, cooked right in front of you, as was the wonderful chefs. Our only issue was that we had another event we needed to be at, and we weren't warned that it would take some time to receive our food, so bear that in mind when you're booking.

Great place great atmosphere just bit too expensive but you pay for the show as well.

I've been here many times and I used to love Sapporo but it's gone completely downhill. The main concern was that the majority of the taster menu they no longer cook in front of you. All of the starters were made in the kitchen and brought out to us, and we waited 1 hour and 15 for the show to start but this didn't last very long... Our chef cooked the meat in front of us, whilst a chef at the opposite table cooked the rice for another group and then they just passed the food over to each other. I felt really ripped off as this is the whole point of being there for me. They also no longer cook the egg to throw and make sure you catch in your mouth. They did randomly cook lots of sliced potatoes for some reason but none of my party asked for these and they went un-touched. If you have never been to a Teppanyaki before then you would probably still enjoy this as a new experience, but if you have been to one then you would feel let down by this. The food was still nice, but overall not worth the price for this experience.

I love this place!! Food is amazing, served fresh at your Teppanyaki hotplate and cooked exactly to your liking by highly skilled chefs. These chefs also provide entertainment by juggling knives and eggs and performing flambé whilst preparing and serving your food. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are well trained and very courteous. A "must visit" for foodies 😁

Sapporo Teppanyaki is one of the best experiences and meals you can have in Liverpool. I've been a few times and had different options. It's honestly a great time with delicious food. Naturally, it's pretty expensive but you're getting high-quality food and a special experience. Highly recommend.

I ordered my favourite fish salmon with red wine and I was not disappointed, best combo for sure. So far the best salmon I have ever eaten. The chef was kind cringe and funny at the same time, I was not used to such entertainment If i'm honest. His favorite phrase was "open your mouth" and at one point he started to throw potatoes into our mouths like we were some dogs, don't get me wrong it was really funny we were laughing, I definitely was not expecting that. In conclusion the food amazing, service as well, show was cringe and funny, I can see why some people would dislike this and call it "a clown show". Prices are relatively expensive approx. 40-50£ pp.

Came for daughter’s birthday,all of us had a great fun time. The food was absolutely fantastic, soft shell crab was my favourite 🤤would highly recommend to come here especially for a celebration. The place was full but still got a really good service , a well organised restaurant, brilliant.

Don’t even want to leave even one star! Absolutely bad experience. I ordered the food on delivery app and what I got is totally different from the picture shows on the app. Staff in restaurant said that is not their problem and ask me report it on the app. Which is fine because I believe maybe they put the wrong information. But this staff’s attitude was very rude and she seemed very confident that nothing wrong with their side and don’t even apologize to me. 17 pounds with 8 little pieces sushi? Can’t believe it.

Fantastic and entertaining meal. The chefs cook in front of you and have all sorts of tricks. The food is excellent, couldn't fault a single thing. You do pay for it though. It isn't cheapest, though it is worth it. Some great cocktails too well made and well balanced, not too sweet. Nice selection of Japanese whisky as well. Al in all a great night out.

Not a special food, very classical and also not so delicious. The floor and tables are not clean. The only good thing is, you can drink variatiy of Japanesse biers.

I ordered the Shogun with Salmon as the main. It was very tasty, and so were the ribs as starters. I tasted the chicken my friend ordered, and it was okay-ish. The funny and entertaining staff were the highlight, and their birthday celebration experience looked fun. The negatives were the fumes and pungent smell from the cooking area in the middle. I was fortunate enough to be seated in the middle where I didn't feel anything, but my friends to the sides had to swap seats and walk around to get some fresh air after a while. I'm not sure if it was the exhaust not functioning properly on our side, but it does warrant a deduction of a star. Another minor niggle was the wait, and that my friend asked for a glass of water to soothe the smell as we were about to leave, but never got it despite waiting for it for a while.

If you need a clown show, then go.. I understand this is necessary to attract and entertain customers, but then you should pay attention to the quality of the products and what you serve. You have a sauce from the supermarket that you pour on all the dishes, so everything is over-salted. You do not even describe what vegetables are included in the fish order on the menu. All the dishes are served with sliced ​​cabbage and small pieces of unknown fried vegetables. (You need to describe in advance so that the menu is clearer about what you serve with the fish, etc.) Several times, we had to remind waiters what we ordered, and in the end, they brought it to us at the very end. The quality of your dishes is based on simply pouring ready-made sauce over everything. There is no balance in taste in the dishes. Also, without gloves, you take meat with your hands, then fish and the rest. I am not even talking about touching other details, and then you hug the waiters and shake hands.

Food: The fried rice a bit flat, the sauted vegetables also use paprika which i think i never saw in any japanese restaurants i have visited in japan, but the beef asparagus roll is great. Service: For their service, i can say that it is great. They knows their products, and offers me recommendations when i am confused what to pick Atmosphere: Seating is a bit tight, too close to each other. But overall it still good. Price: Price to value, to me personally it is still reasonable

The atmosphere is definitely what you pay for because the food is terrible tasteless and just really bad the place looks really nice I wasn't expecting to write a bad review but I have to be honest when you compare the food against the price. The food from your local chippy is much better it's unbelievable I am still in shock at how bad the food was and how big the bill was at the end.. 🫤

It was one of the best restaurant I ever dine with located at Liverpool Duke St. We’re actually family invited by our very kind, amazing boss’ together with his family as well. We really have so much fun and truly enjoyed the dinner especially the very entertaining chef, that made all people laughed, at the same time he served and cooked the foods right infront of us. There’s no chance to be bored.Foods were so yummy, and lovely, sushi, duck spring rolls, and we ordered as well super spicy king prawns! And we combined it with a nice red wine from Spain, and the place was so accommodating, staffs are friendly too. So I highly recommend it. THE BEST! I will surely be back again and bring all my family and friends!

Interesting, different and fun dining experience. Staff all very friendly and reassuring to see the food cooked freshnin front of you. Have to say that its on the pricey side (£45 a head for shared starter, main and 1 drink) and probably needs to be reserved for special occasions.

Sapporo Teppanyaki in Liverpool came highly recommended, and we were not disappointed. The entertainment, whilst the chef cooks the food at your table, was nice and lovely.... Adults and kids had a fabulous time. Food was cooked to perfection with very generous portions. The chef and staff were nice and friendly and the whole team makes a big fuss if it's a special event / birthday which makes the celebrant feel just a bit more special Would highly recommend booking a table in advance and visiting if you are in Liverpool. Wanna try something new.. it looked "fancy" people recommend it for us.. but was disappointed. The servisse is nice people working there know what they doing, all show that making food in front was interacting and all good, but I don't like it to sit around the table all pushed toughener barley have space to move and its awkward every time say sorry to person u don't know always tacking hands or something.. Talking about the food IF i ever come back there i only come back to eat some sides dishes, because the main dish was nothing special.. not enough seasoning , no extra sauce or salt, peper on table if you wanna put something, really bland almost no flawor..

Visited on a Friday lunchtime and had the place almost to ourselves with just two others dining in the restaurant. We had teppanyaki, it was served with all the usual entertainment, including a potato toss, and tricks. The food was delicious and our server was brilliant. We ordered the alcohol free cocktails and they were impressive!

Seed oils are horrific here. Don’t eat here if you like eating healthy.

Went here for lunch with my boyfriend. The place is really beautiful and well furnished, the people are so cool and the chef was great. He made our time in this restaurant even better! The food was tasty and the set menu for lunch was really convenient. Recommended+++

Avoid! The service is awful. Unpleasant server who rolled her eyes at us when we wanted to pay and a very rude manager who’s attitude ruined our evening. I would strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant and going somewhere else instead…Etsu nearby is a much better option.

We came as part of a group and we had a great time, all of the family were involved. We had two gluten free diners and they were not left out as all of the food was prepared and came at the same time

The service was Great, I enjoyed watching the food cook and the chefs interacting with customers was great entertainment. However for the price and the quality of food, it was really average. I had the set menu of chicken and fish. The starter was soup and a selection of fried sides (food came lukewarm), the main was the fish and chicken which came with veg and rice which had no flavour at all. My only highlight was the dessert, which was the biscoff cheesecake, delicious. (However I doubt this was made in house) Total bill cost around £60 per head (including 1 alcoholic beverage). I felt that for the quality of food, it was a very disappointing dinner. I wouldn’t recommend here for food, but the entertainment was good.

So me and my family visited here for my 18th birthday, and all I can say is, it was a beautiful experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the chefs were incredible and know how to put a show on and make people laugh! Don’t even get me started on the food, all I can say is that everything is top notch quality and is by far my favourite place to visit. Thank you all for the excellent experience ❤️

Sono stato con la mia famiglia diverse volte in questo ristorante e sono sempre andato via contento. La qualità del servizio è buona e la qualità del cibo è molto alta. La caratteristica principale è ovviamente l' intrattenimento degli chef al tavolo che è spesso divertente,in particolare lo chef nei video è di gran lunga quello più divertente tra le sedi di Manchester e Liverpool. Grande pecca del ristorante è la cappa delle varie cucine che a volte è addirittura spenta. Per la mia esperienza è impossibile tornare a casa senza avere i vestiti impregnati dell odore PURTROPPO.

Not worth the money, at all. The food is mediocre at best and the shows are noy that stunning. The food from the tasting menus are rather simple. Either bland or too salty.

It's a very nice place for a treat. The teppanyaki service is superb and the food is very nice too. It is a little bit pricey but for the occasional treat it's great.
