5 of us booked a table for 6.30 on a Saturday we arrived and the young waiter said we could sit where we wanted then brought iced water after a lovely cocktail for the girls and a beer for me we ordered our meals that came very well presented and it was all delicious not one thing to complain about it really is great authentic food massive portions great staff and owner and a birthday cake for my mother made it for us - highly recommend we will be back - oh try the cheesecake simply the best we had ever had .thanks

Well, some things just don't work out the way they are planned. The meal was served 8 minutes after we ordered. So, it was definitely warmed up lunchtime or yesterday's leftovers. The plates were cold. My lamb kofte was so dry I had to drink wine with it. Hard dry crust and very dry on the inside tzaki sauce was nice but only a dessertspoonful - why so stingy?. My partner!s Moussaka had no spices, cinnamon, and nutmeg missing, barely any bechemal sauce and dry as my lamb. They were very lucky as if I had been paying. I would have refused to pay for them. My partner let me list all the things that were "not satisfactory," then she paid for them anyway! I just failed to see why she meekly paid. But then again, to keep the peace, I did as she asked & said nothing when the bill came! The chilled rose wine & hot baklava desserts were excellent - & That's the only reason why I gave Sanorini's a 2nd star!!!

Excellent service from a very friendly proprietor; food was good especially the flatbreads and dips. Generous portions and enjoyed a taste of the cheesecake.

Visited on 28/04/2023. First time diners, food, service and overall experience was first class. The food was amazing! All fresh, authentic, and very tasty, fantastic value too! Highly recommended and will be back soon. 10/10.

3 months on and still no heating?? Just come on here to leave a 4/5 review but read previous reviews from December saying the restaurant was cold, well last night is was Baltic ! And to find out the owners haven’t done anything about it since last year is really poor Starters and mains were tasty and good quality and we thought good value money until we were hit with a £9.90 charge for a Greek salad that was a cheap packet salad with some feta thrown on top - hugely expensive and strange to charge so much considering their early bird menu is three courses for a tenner ?? Wouldn’t return

Food was incredible and lovely big portions. The only thing I can fault was that it was very cold. I suspect the radiators were broken as there was an electric heater plugged in. Other than the restaurant temperature the food and service was faultless. Will defo go back

Our second visit in the last couple of months. The food was very tasty and service was good. The main problem was the lack of heat. We all had to sit and eat with our coats on - crazy! Put us off a bit to return in the winter

The chicken yeeros main says it comes with 'plenty of chicken strips' - they weren't kidding! fantastic food; I had the grilled halloumi meze and chicken yeeros main which came with amazing tzatziki, chips, pita, and salad. The large portion size was thoroughly enjoyed.

This was a last-minute choice for a pre-theatre meal and we were so impressed. The speed of service, quality of the food and friendly staff made it an ideal choice whatever the occasion. We’ll certainly be back.

It's the second time I've visited for a meal, can not fault the food and service however on both of the occasions I have been asked if I don't mind leaving earlier than I would of liked after I had eaten a meal It was because the table had been booked for another party. Its not what I liked while I was trying to enjoy my husband's birthday with family. Don't think I'll return.

visited on Saturday night, did a pre order to help out, the lamb kleftiko was amazing it just melted in my mouth and the meat balls were very well flavoured and moist, all the food looked very well and the smells had my mouth watering, the staff were very helpful and nothing was a problem for them. we wish them all the success and more happy customers thru the door. well done keep up the hard work, stay safe and hope to visit again soon

Finally tried Santorini. I'd heard good things and ordered a takeaway from here. Food was delicious, generous portions and fresh. The babba ganoush was amazing. The restaurant were really helpful in regards to dietary requirements and spent time explaining what I could have. Really good understanding in regards to this. Food was delivered on time and was piping hot. will definitely be going back.

I’ve just finished my takeaway from Santorini and after waiting a while for the dinner I’ve cleaned my plate. The chips were AMAZING, haloumi wrap was lovely, and the cheese mpoureki were delicious. I just want to add a special thank you for the delivery girl who drove IN THE THICK FOG to deliver the meal. Above and beyond service with some dreamy food. I shall return Santorini Greek Cafe.

Ordered the chicken wraps, Tyrokafteri (very spicy) and Tiramasu to work to get us through a nightshift. Chips were delicious and the wraps were unbelievable. Service was amazing- light hearted, warm but professional messages and nothing too much trouble. When they found out we were nurses they went above and beyond to deliver after closing time and even gave us some lovely extras. Thanks again!!

Tenderest lamb,chicken ever! Homemade pitta bread,loads of lamb and chicken,not a big fan of takeaways but santorinis is excellent.

My go to takeaway treat!!! Lockdown is made a little better when you can get delicious, authentic Greek food on your doorstep. As always it’s chicken yeeros for me and as always it is beautiful!! So easy to order, fast to deliver and usually delivers early and piping hot. I love this little place!!!!

Went to Santorini tonight, we were made to feel very welcome! Incredible food and service from both Georgio and the waitress who served us. We had a selection of meze from all three of the menus. You made my brothers 18th birthday amazing, thank you!!

Date night on Friday. We booked a table for 8pm and when we arrived we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. It was a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The girl serving was really pleasant and efficient. It was our first visit here so naturally we wanted to try everything. For starters we had a flat bread (kind of a sweet pitta bread) which was very moreish and a portion of pork meatballs. These were really tasty yet light and the sauce they were in (tomaty, ragu kinda taste) was delicious. The chef gave us a complimentary portion of chips so that no sauce got wasted. The chips were amazing! Home made fat chips sprinkled in mixed herbs. For our mains, I had a chicken wrap, again made from the flat bread...inside was loads of flavoursome chicken, onions, tzatziki sauce, and more chips. The portion was huge, I couldn’t eat it all. My boyfriend had pulled pork...again a massive portion with lots of fresh salad and chips. We had 2 drinks each & the bill was just over £47. No drinks of draft so therefore they’re a little more expensive. Not a complaint, just an observation. The chef himself came out from the kitchen to tell us about the ‘specials’ and to check we were enjoying our food, once it arrived. A really lovely touch - you can tell he is really proud of the business. The server mentioned they are having a Greek night soon - would highly recommend trying this. Thanks for a lovely night.

Brilliant food with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were really friendly, the chef even came out and spoke to us. We went during restaurant week so the food prices were so cheap but I'm looking forward to going back at anytime!

Visited here on the 15th of Febuary 2020I wasn't sure what to expect has I booked via Groupon.Really good atmosphere and the staff were very attentive to our needs. The Decoration of the place was good and very clean. The food was amazing and will go again.

What a find, a fantastic Greek restaurant in the heart of Darlington. I visited this evening with my wife and received a fabulously warm welcome from the staff and owner. We had the chicken gyros (moist and beautiful) and the greek salad (fresh authentic Greek ingredients). Really excellent food. The restaurant also offers Greek beer and spirits. Highly recommended!

As a family we all love Greek food so was delighted when I found this restaurant in Darlington. The food was just delicious and all four of us had something different (2xkids and 2xadults) so we were able to try each other’s and all of us said we could have eaten any of the dishes. The portions are a good size, fresh and very tasty. The owner welcomed us as we entered the restaurant and then came to check we had enjoyed our meal after we had finished. That in my opinion is the sign of a good chef who is confident in the quality of his/hers food. We will definitely be back. Lots of parking as well near the restaurant if you decide to drive. If like us you enjoy Greek food then this restaurant is a must!

the day was the 2nd of January 1800hrs we had the restaurant to ourselves. i like Greek food. i had beef stifado and herby chips and zatszikt as a side dish.i am afraid my eyes were bigger than my belly!! and i ended up not being able to clean up my plate but the food was delicious the staff ie owners were very friendly and chatty i will look forward to going back and trying a different dish.ie kleftiki perhaps.

A group of six of us met for an evening meal on a Friday night. One couple had gone to the OTHER SANTORINI in Tubwell Row!!! It was closed. So make sure you go to 5, Crown Street! Not too busy, but we were welcomed by Georgios and his staff. He explained various dishes with enthusiasm. A range of meze dishes acted as a starter to dip into (no pun intended), folowed by rather large portions of main courses. The lamb and pulled pork were good, but the chicken dish was not as hot as it ought to have been. We didn't have room for desserts, but he brought us a portion of his own Victoria sponge with six spoons! Nice gesture!

We were looking for a really nice Greek restaurant and we decided to give it a try. Firstly it didn't look typically Greek, it was more an English cafe. But when we got the menu, we had a really difficult time to make a decision, there were so many Greek delicacies!!!. We tried the marvelous kleftiko and were astonished with the giant Pita. The meze were also excellent. Everything was made with respect to Greek cuisine, of best quality materials and nicely and quick served. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Great time out with family. We will definitely come again!!!

On Saturday 2ist Sep 2019 My wife and I walked into the Santorini Taverna in Crown Street, Darlington. Immediately I felt as though I had stepped back into an authentic Greek Taverna situated in the Plaka district of Athens.

5* food brilliant staff with excellent service at a very reasonable price. The best in town i wouldnt go anywere else.

Omg amazing place food excellent, pesto was out of the world could not do enough for us. Lovely family run business - please support this business as Darlington needs more quality places like this - get yourself there !!!

The wraps were amazing my partner had the halloumi and I had the sausage which was fabulous so enjoyed it and my partner had some homemade pesto bought out to him for me to try its so tasty want to say thank u for a lovely lunch definitely coming back again the wraps was also buy one get the other half price xx

We've dined at santorini several times. Georgios welcomes you as if you're family. His food is amazing. This time I wanted a takeaway for 6 people. He offered me a coffee while we sat and discussed which food to order. The food was ready on time(with extra goodies). He explained how to heat up the various dishes, as I collected it a couple of hours before we were going to eat it. You can't help but fall in love with Georios and his food. I highly recommend dining in his restaurant or getting a takeaway from him. It's the best Greek food in England.

Very disappointed.. Ordered meze dishes.. Potato dish was a packet of smash with chillies in.. Mains frozen chips. Cheap ingredients.. Food to salty.. Very overpriced expensive for what you get.. Big shame really was looking forward to trying this place out..

I went as part of group to Santorini to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I had a lovely night, everything was nice and relaxed and the food was gorgeous!

Ate here as a large group, 12 people. We pre ordered food. They got the orders wrong and then meals were not served at the same time so some people has finished before others got Their meal. Food was ok, reheated, nothing spectacular.

The menu here is brilliant, after being on holiday to Greece a few times its just like being back there. Ran be a lovely family, everything is authentic from start to finish. Can't recommend the baklava enough, its heaven.

We got takeaway and collected it. Service was pleasant, manager/chef? went out of his way and was lovely. Now onto the food. The chips were delicious and the tzatziki was tasty. Very much enjoyed and would recommend

This was our 2nd time here, first time Was great, enjoyed the whole experience. The 2nd time unfortunately the food was average, some things tasty. Ordered baklava for dessert which was cold, stale and dry this time. My partner ordered the cheesecake which was served in the cheap bought in pot like out of a supermarket where you'd get 3 for a pound.. Not great.

Went here for tea, last minute decision after shopping in town after work. Loved every part of it. Food was perfect beautifully cooked, service had the personal touch and venue top notch. Waitress was very friendly and super patient with the children. Meals out can be stressful with children, but she was lovely and made the experience even better. We will be back again!

We called in as a family for a spot of lunch for our children. All of the staff were lovely, especially with my children. The food was spot on. All seemed fresh and very tasty. Really nice place for a bite to eat.

Took my family here last night for dinner after many people speak so well of this restaurant, food was beautiful, staff went above and beyond, and the restaurant spotlessly clean, I would highly recommend this restaurant now to all those I know, we will definitely be back very soon

Went here on groupon and must say it was a huge disappointment. Food was very plain and average and not very authentic greek.Place was really just a cafe and needs some refurbishing to make a bit modern. Service was strange brought meals out in bits , mine came well before my partners. Bit of a wasted night out !!

We went for a meal with friends who recommended the Santorini. From the minute we walked in we were treated like old friends. Georgio sent flat bread and tszatsiki for us whilst we waited for our food to be cooked. I had lamb steak which was the most tender and tasty that I have had in ages. All our party really enjoyed our mains. I had baclava for dessert...omg it was to die for. Georgio had made lemon drizzle cake that morning which my friend had.....delicious. I wish I lived nearer as we would eat here a lot! Georgio introduced my husband to Mythos beer which he loved. If you haven't eaten here yet you are missing a trick. Fantastic place

Santorini is situated opposite the main post office in Darlington on Crown street and I would highly recommend that you go and try the delicious Greek cuisine. The proprietor, and Chef is a great host and goes above and beyond to make your meal special. Huge tasty prawns in a light batter, along with halloumi and toasted pitta filled us up even before the mouth watering lamb and beef fillet steaks smothered in the special recipe Santorini sauce! Make sure you leave room for a little of something sweet...the Baklava is to die for. Having been to the island of Santorini many times, Santorini in Darlington makes me pine for a return, but this restaurant certainly is worth booking for an authentic Greek meal...and certainly cheaper than a flight! Definitely one to return to. (And soon)...

For all the years I’ve lived in Darlington I really can’t believe I’ve never been here before. We purchased a voucher on groupon and went with friends (they have been many times) Although it’s only small restaurant it does not disappoint. The food was beautiful, we had the meze and gyros, very highly recommended! The staff here are so friendly and really looked after us. The owner was a very lovely gentlemen, you could tell how passionate he was about the food and the place in general, nothing was too much. He was telling us about how they’re soon moving premises to somewhere bigger, well good luck to them, we’ll definitely be back! Truly authentic Mediterranean gem! A must visit in Darlington

Tucked away in the town is a nice little restaurant run by a really pleasant gentleman who likes to come and have a chat and share some tasty and strong Greek spirits!

Just had lunch at this wonderful place and wow we were certainly not disappointed.The food was amazing I had pork gyros and my partner had the chicken gyros mmm it beautiful washed down with a cold mythos beer.Desert....Greek yoghurt and honey and a delicious slice of brownie which I would highly recommendto all chocolate lovers we would highly recommend this little piece of Greek heaven and will certainly be returning.

This has became mine and my wife’s favourite place to go on date night. The owners are fabulous, very caring and easy to talk to, if you are unsure what things are they are happy to help you out. The gyros and stifflado are amazing. Great to have a bottle of mythos too ! Love it

What a lovely place! No frills, just lovely, honest, tasty Greek food and reasonably priced. The menu is good. We had the Meze Alpha with additional pitta bread and our choices did not disappoint. The mains were generously portioned and tasty.

Had the most tasty Yeeros out of Greece, big portion , tasty, fresh . I closed my meal with a baklava and a cheesecake as I could not choose between them. Probably the best Greek restaurant in UK. Thank you master chef Georgios.

I googled Greek restaurants in Darlington and the Santorini Greek Restaurant came up in the searches and after reading some reviews, I decided to book. When you first go in, it definitely has a cafe feel but don’t let that put you off. The food was truly amazing. We had chicken gyros for mains and a couple of starter dishes and had tiramisu to take away and of course a few drinks as well.

We would travel across the world to eat at Santorini. The lamb casserole, the chicken gyros, the veal with mushrooms and truffles... everything was fresh, perfectly prepared and incredibly delicious. The owner and chef is incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful meal.

This was my first time in Darlington with my partner. We decided to just google restaurants and this little gem popped up. When we walked in, the place was just closing but everything was immediately put back on for us, made us feel extremely welcomed. Beautiful atmosphere and very friendly owners. The food was delicious. The owner told us a bit about his very impressive history. Once we move to Darlington, this will most definitely be our go to place on our date nights. Prices are also very reasonable. We are excited to return. Thank you again for making Darlington and enjoyable experience for us.

We came here for supper with our son and his girlfriend. The owner & chef is very friendly and interacts with all of the customers. It's clear that he is very proud of his restaurant and his food.

This was our second visit to this incredible restaurant. As soon as you step into this restaurant you feel as if you are in Greece. The traditional decor, music and outstanding personal service from the genuine Greek owners transports you to that holiday location. The food is exceptional and the only complaint you will have is that the menu is so full of wonderful dishes that you will struggle to choose. I cannot recommend this eatery enough. Definitely my favourite in the area!

When I heard Greek restaurant in town as was over the moon then me and friends decided visit I’m greek meself restaurant very small most of the mezes ain’t fresh I order kofte kebab I believe frozen from Aldi never go again and I don’t recommend no one

I visited with friends. It is great to see a Greek restaurant in town and was hoping for a great experience. It is a small restaurant on a very busy street in the town centre. The food was ok but nothing special and I thought it was expensive for what it was if I am honest. The staff were very friendly and that to me is the big selling point for the restaurant.

I rang this restaurant to book a table for a large group for my birthday. The restaurant only seats 26 altogether , however the restaurant bent over backwards to accomodate us. The restaurant is very busy and they also do takeaways.

The reviews on trip advisor convinced me to make a reservation at Santorini Greek cafe. It would be easy to walk past but stepping inside will be good for your tastebuds and stomach. The food was fabulous and the service excellent. Be sure to order the Greek coffee. Extra added bonus was dessert for my hotel room!

The food was absolutely delicious and large portions. Great service the staff were so friendly. The only thing that spoilt it was that it was so cold. My husband put his coat on first then I put mine on along with my scarf. It kind of ruined the evening. It's very popular for takeaways and with it being a small room everytime the door opened what little heat there was went straight out the door. This won't stop us going back at all however it will be for a lunch and in warmer weather. Please go for their stunning authentic food don't be put off by chilly nights.... wear a jumper

My wife and I visited Santorini this evening and what an amazing experience! The cafe was full at 7pm when we arrived and also full of the smell of amazing food!

Great authentic Greek food. Friendly service. Gyros was as good as our favourite gyros bar in Nidri. Little tester of the feta pie was good. Plenty to eat, really enjoyed it and will return.

Fairly standard Greek menu, good value, particularly if you go for one of the 'deals'. Mine host is very welcoming, but don't expect Greek temperatures. The heating system needs a bigger boiler!

A warm welcome from Georgio who recommended the slow cooked Rib Eye steak for 4 people. Served in a large roasting dish with potatoes and caramelised onions and vegetables, it was truly amazing. Obviously this is a very popular restaurant so booking is recommended. It was my first visit but certainly won’t be my last.

Having friends who regularly holiday on the island of Santorini, finding this cafe was an opportunity for them to revisit some of their favourite dishes. This was my first taste of Greek cooking and I really enjoyed my meal. The meat in my chicken gyros was perfectly cooked and flavoured - the lamb and pork dishes my friends had were just as tasty. Prices are very reasonable and the service is good. Definitely worth a return visit!

If you like authentic, delicious home cooked Greek food then you need to give this place a try. Since having Santorini recommended to us, we have sampled a few dishes, all freshly cooked, authentic, absolutely delicious and cracking value for money, a little gem of a find!

Lovely little venue for some pre cinema food. We had hummus and tzatiki for starters but when the main cause they were huge and we left lots. Only complaint I can give is that it is very bright inside with the white walls. Dimmer lighting would improve the ambience.

A small intimate cafe style eatery with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I have visited this establishment on quite a number of occasions now and have never been disappointed. I have always found the food to be of a good standard and the portions are very generous. I have always received a warm greeting and the chef is passionate about what he does. The stifado is incredible and the lamb kebabs are very good also. I did have the seafood pasta once and that was also very good. If you want high end restaurant then maybe this isn't the place for you, but if you want good quality, tasty food freshly made then I would highly recommend. It is incredible value for money.

I went in hoping for authentic Greek food but left disappointed. I ordered the pitta bread and olives which were fine but then you can't mess that up. After that I ordered the lamb kebabs. I was concerned (as the only customer in at the time) when the sound of the microwave began. Sure enough less than five minutes later my lamb kebabs were served... with chips. Neither of which should have been possible if cooked fresh to order in that time frame. The portion size was good and tasted ok but if you care for authentic Greek cuisine you'd be as well off stopping at Tesco yourself.

I had pasta with olives, feta & onion and the dish was barely there. It was just a chunk of plain pasta with 1-2 olives and 1gram of feta with four pieces of onion. The pasta was supposed to be in a milky-cream white sauce but was instead completely dry and was covered with dried/cold butter and it felt like I was eating candle wax.

Visited this place after seeing a friends takeout gyros and wanted my own! We wandered in to find the place was actually closed but the owner / chef couldn't have been more helpful and prepared and served us two amazing pork gyros anyway! Made to order in just a few minutes while we watched and they were absolutely delicious! The Greek bread was amazing. And the cheesecake! Wow! Never had cheesecake like it! The restaurant itself is nicely set out and spotlessly clean and maintained! I want to try everything on the menu now. Will definitely be returning, probably a dozen times (!!) and will recommend to everyone!

Called in here on the recommendation of a friend. They do a lovely stiffado which was a success with the males in our party as was the mousaka. The chicken salad was good value with a larger than average portion of chicken as well their own home made dressing. There is a selection of tapas dishes which can be used as a meal in their own. Small place so you may need to book.
