Santok Maa's Bhel Poori House in Croydon

We regularly go to eat at Santok Maa. The owners are super friendly and always greet us with a smile. The food is always cooked with love, very enjoyable and flavourful. Service is fast & efficient- definitely recommend :)

This place does not deserve any stars. I had an incredibly disappointing experience with this place. The food they catered for my event was out of date and smelt very bad, which was not only unacceptable but also a potential health hazard. When I went to politely inform Pradip Maru (the owner) about it, instead of addressing the issue professionally, he flat-out refused to listen or offer any form of compensation. To make matters worse, he spoke in a very rude and dismissive tone, showing no concern for their mistake or my satisfaction as a customer. He then became argumentative and aggressive when I mentioned that several people had personally come to me with questions about the food that was being served at the event as it tasted bad and smelt out of date. I myself had to call in sick for work the next day due to the out of date food this place had provided. I strongly advise against using their services, as both their food quality and customer service are seriously lacking.

The vada pav and dabeli were absolutely delicious! The flavors were authentic and perfectly balanced. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. On top of that, the service was impressively quick. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a bite!

Good home cooked vegetarian and vegan food. I have been missing authentic indian food and this place never fails to serve good tasting dishes. This is a family business who take pride in their cooking. Most of their dishes are vegan, anyone looking for good vegan Indian food stop over, the staff are very happy to help you with what is vegetarian to vegan options.

We visited santok maa's a few weeks ago and were mpressed with the quality and selection of food on offer. The staff were extremely helpful, recommending a selection of dishes and answering any questions that we had. I will definitely be returning here to taste some more i Of the tasty dishes.

I came for an impromptu lunch with my parents and had an incredible meal that took me back to Kenya when eating the delicious maru bhajias and then instantly to India when I had the amazing masala dosa. The service was perfect, attentive, friendly and food was delivered very quickly. The place reminds me of a typical Indian cafe with authentic food with large portions and great service. Thanks for a delicious meal and the perfect place for a catch up with my parents!

Overpriced food with limited choices

High quality and made with love Professionally made, authenticity, care to detail and cleanliness is hard to surpass in the UK. It feels as though it was made by my grandmother. Eaten everywhere in the uk, but no one can come this close In sporting terms it is Sachin Tendulker’s cover drive. Created a new bar for Asian cuisine. The Mauritian community is hard to please, but they couldn’t fault it. The variety of cuisine from their sweet cakes to their curries to their samosas to onion Bhajis. You name it, they are all exceptional.

Me and my grandma visited again for the first time in 11 years and the food remained absolutely excellent. The bhel poori, aloo saag and tarka daal are all exceptional as well as all the other food we had. The staff were very attentive and even remembered us from our previous visits! I will be coming again in the not so distant future.

Very Rude and Irresponsible Customer Service. They are Greedy and can even sell anything to make money. Asked for Dhokla and Handed Khaman and when you ask for a refund he is refusing to do so. How come such fellow sells you something, which you don’t ask for…. Not Recommended at all.

Rank bad Masala Dosa and Sambhar. Coconut chutney was more like green chutney mixed with water and leftover coconut grains. My day is ruined now. I will never order food ever again.

I have ordered their tiffin, jalebi and chaats from Uber eats around 4-5 times since I got to know about them and everytime the food has been exceptional. They even made it spicy for me. Everything is top notch and once I even got complimentary Dhokla from them. I will continue ordering from them. Loved the food.

Paneer Tikka roll and maru bhajia is especially yummy

First time I got gujrati which was very nice and did not though it away after the first bit. ... I get the thali with Rotli and its more like a Gujarati Rotli then a thick punjab chappate I believe it call. very close to home food, will order again. Food was hot and very impressively packed .

Ordered a takeaway and wish I hadn't. The dosa was unpleasantly thick, the veg in the curries were overcooked and the sauce was watery, the sambal was dull and the idly were overly sour.

The thickest dosa I've ever had which isn't good in my eyes. The veg in the curries were dramatically overcooked, and the sauces were really thin and one dimensional in taste. The idly were to sour. I'm very disappointed.

Excellent food as always. Ordering two thalis is really good value. An assortment of rice, puri, and different curries, plus a side and sweet, and generous portions. It was all delicious and for me at least I've had the opportunity to try new vegetarian dishes I haven't had before.

For the price of Nairobi bhajia’s the portion size was very small that compared to others offering the same style bhajia’s. Sweet paan on the other hand were very tasty and filling.

Excellent food as always. I usually order a selection of dishes and always enjoy them. I opted for the Thali today and found it to be excellent quality and really good value for money. If you haven't tried it, give it a go.

Lovely and simple vegetarian restaurant with very friendly staff. The food is authentic home cooked and a number of dishes to choose from the menu. Prices are also very reasonable and portions are generous . Will be back again soon

Original Delivery Time was 7pm to 7.20pm, delivery time changed twice and orde5 finally arrived at 8.05pm!! Even resturant was closed we can't even contact and confirm delivery. Very disappointed with overall experience and delay in delivery.

Very disappointed. We normally get Marus bhajia from there and they've always been very nice but today we got take away and it was terrible. The batter was thick and it tasted as though they just reheated and gave. When I called them to let them know this lady must be the chef said this is how they make it. I told her normally it's very nice but this time it wasn't. She then called someone as uncle and told him what I said regarding the batter the next thing they do they hang up!!!! Not really professional!!!!!!

its ok, not worth the price for two main meals and rest were snacks and drinks. drinks were good it was just the snacks so expensive for such small portions.

Pradeep is a top man and always looks after his regulars. Kitchen is usually very quick and food is tasty. I've been coming here for the past 20 years and it's been consistently good food. Any issues have been handled professionally and rectified promptly.

On Saturday 13th May we had the most lovely experience with Santok Maa's food and catering. It was my daughter's 13th Birthday and we had a close family lunch. From the first contact with the person in charge and throughout our correspondence, they were helpful, informative and wanted to provide the best possible service. They went above and beyond what we asked. All the food items were delicious and just the right heat as we had grandparents and children to cater for. The colour, texture and authentic delicacies were made to perfection together with mango lassi and passion fruit to balance out all the flavours. The portions were extremely generous. Thank you and we will definitely be back and would recommend Santok Maa's to anyone everyone who would like wholesome, heart warming food.

I had Santok Maa cater for my birthday party this year after having tasted their delicious food at a friend’s party. They took the time to meet with me personally and they helped me plan a perfect menu which was suitable for all my guests. I had many requirements which were all met perfectly. I requested a no-onion no-garlic menu which was fully vegan. We had an amazing choice of starters followed by very tasty mains. The food was ready in good time for my party and all packaged and provided in an ideal way to allow me to heat up if needed. I particularly liked the Black Bean Stir Fry which each and every one of my guests complimented. I can’t wait to have Santok Maa cater my next event. Thank you!

We had Pani Puri, Dhai Puri and Garlic Mogo, 2 cokes. The Pani puri was like you’d serve to a homeless, the mogo was like fridge thawed and moved around in a wok for a few minutes then served! The dhai puri was the only thing that was so so. £30 for that! A no go for next time and No recommendations for sure!

Amazing service, . We received a very warm and friendly welcome despite arriving near closing time. The quality and flavours of the food is exceptionally good and the Thali is a superb wholesome meal and excellent value for money. All the food was served with love and care and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommend . 😊 🌟

This is our go-to Indian vegetarian restaurant. The food is always great - fresh & flavoursome! Sometimes the spice levels can’t be adjusted, especially with tiffin or thali dishes as these are already cooked but still worth asking for adjustments. The owners are lovely too & try their best to accommodate requests.

The flavours were unique, we tried Samosa chat and aloo chat, paani poori, they were all bit sweet, and also perfect spicy, spice stays back on your tongue. we like sweet, so it was so good. only downside is , the quantity is bit less for the price. Tea was also good, but with a little bit of improved serving, it might be even better.

Lovely flavours. I particularly loved the dahi puri. Very well packaged. They even gave 3 tasty complimentary sweets.

We had 1x samosa chaat 1 x Lassi 3 x bhaturas 1 x channa curry Samosa chaat was OK. Bhaturas were lovely, home made, small size, 0.80p each. Lassi was OK. Channa curry taste homemade. Overall, I would say the food was OK. Bill came to £24. Bit surprised how it added up.

Taste of the food was good. Had ordered some chatt, a pav baji and a dosa. Chat was good but the size of the puri were too small,like way to small for the price. The pav baji was good as well again and believe reasonable size as of portion. The masal dosa was quite good. Would recommend to also give a copy of the bill once paid or before paying, for even though the customer does not ask for one. I hope there was no service charge included in the bill. As I dont know cause I was not given one. I should have asked for one though but by the time I realized was way to ahead. Only one recommendation to increase the portion, especially the size of the puri.

I went to this place few times he he gave panmasala bottle damage took lid when asked him he made memakri out it than I asked bhail three to take way he was very rude his dhabra was stile bhail was stile he till charge soplease when you take waya be careful all they are trying to make out of stile food I will never go in that restaurant and will report to health and safty department giving stile food to dissable person

We ordered punjabi samosa which was good. For mains we got Garlic Naan, Chapati and paneer Amritsari. Paneer gravy was good but was made from a readymade sauce. The Naan and chapati were readymade as well, looked they had been bought from a local Tesco. Indian tea at the end was v.good but we wont go for Indian food again since we can eat such store bought stuff at home as well.

This is my 2nd visit in the same week. I highly recommend their Dahi Wada (cold) but in fact most things on the menu hit the spot. I also enjoy their Masala tea, everything I love is one place and the service is great!

Made a big order.. pizza came absolutely lopsided (probably the delivery drivers fault), they forgot an item in my order and they gave me rice that was poorly made. Absolute waste of money.

When I ordered Aubergine Bhaji, Mushroom Bhaji and Daal Bhaji, I thought I was ordering proper dishes, not deep-fried vegetables. I specifically googled what Mushroom (and Aubergine and Daal) bhajis are. What I got was not that. The reason I googled the dishes was because there was no description and I wanted to make sure that, what I order in my local Indian restaurant is going to be the same from this one.

I have not visited the actual restaurant (yet), only enjoyed their food as a take-away home delivery. There are so many interesting dishes on the menu, including the starters samosa chaat and the little potato fritters bhajias, - so delicious! The dosas are great too. We've ordered food from Santok Maa's Bhel Poori House several times now, and will continue to work our way through the menu. The food is excellent and the portions are generous - warmly recommended!

We often get a take away. Great food prepared (and made vegan on request). We often ( deliberately) over order so we have left overs to fight over.
