We ordered a takeaway: Nairobi bhajia, Mogo chat and chilli paneer. Food was awful and not edible. We threw it away

This is my 2nd visit in the same week. I highly recommend their Dahi Wada (cold) but in fact most things on the menu hit the spot. I also enjoy their Masala tea, everything I love is one place and the service is great!

I have not visited the actual restaurant (yet), only enjoyed their food as a take-away home delivery. There are so many interesting dishes on the menu, including the starters samosa chaat and the little potato fritters bhajias, - so delicious! The dosas are great too. We've ordered food from Santok Maa's Bhel Poori House several times now, and will continue to work our way through the menu. The food is excellent and the portions are generous - warmly recommended!

We often get a take away. Great food prepared (and made vegan on request). We often ( deliberately) over order so we have left overs to fight over.

Our first visit here and we definitely want to go back. It's a small cafe style restaurant. The owner (?) was friendly and helpful, happy to offer recommendations when we asked. Everything we had was delicious and clearly very fresh. The nairobi bhajis and paneer were particularly good. It was so good that we bought some snacks from the counter to have the next day. Also delicious.

This was our first visit, and my friends and I immediately liked the welcoming atmosphere. The owner was also very helpful in suggesting some of the popular dishes. The food definitely had a 'home cooked' flavour. We really enjoyed eating there and will return. There was only one disappointment-no plant milk was available,so vegans have to go without a hot drink, unless they like black tea/coffee,etc..Perhaps some plant milk could be offered in the future?

We love eating at this place as their snacks are excellent and we especially love the Santok Maa's Nairobi Bhajias as it does really remind us of eating them when we were in Nairobi. We have tried a lot of different places but no Nairobi Bhajias are like the ones we eat here. Would certainty recommenced them. We have had their different Mogo dishes which are really good and recently tried their Bhaturas as well which we thought were excellent. The owners are a very friendly couple and very welcoming . Would highly recommend this place

The restaurant is nothing fancy at all, more like a wee cafe really. However the food was freshly prepared, the veg was cooked to perfection and the service was super friendly. I have now tried a few different dishes and would recommend the massala dosa; the sag paneer, and also the tarka dal

The food was disgusting. It was definitely not fresh and just heated up from previous day. The rice and khadi were smelling and had gone off. The onion bhaji was smelling as well. We left the food with excuse that we were running late. What a let down!!!!!!

A small, family-run, friendly place where the owners will take the time to talk you through their extensive menu. Delicious food, all vegetarian with plenty of options for vegans. Ideal for sharing a number of small dishes among friends.

This place is amazing. The food is unbelievably tasty.... the paneer shish is to die for. What's more, the owners are so friendly. If I could, I'd eat here every day!

My son and I have been celebrating different events at this restaurant for some time now. We are always warmly welcomed and shown to our table immediately, without having to book in advance. The Pooris are exceptionally delicious, light and fluffy. The Chilli Mogo (Casava) is very moreish and makes a great starter. We always order the Vegan Thali which is consistently well cooked and presented in an attractive platter.

My family and I love coming to Santok Maa for the authentic and freshly prepared dishes which are genuinely as good as my Gujarati grandmother’s cooking! Hot fluffy puris, crispy bhajias with tasty chutney, spicy ragda petis with delicious chickpeas and undiyo are some of my favourite dishes. The lovely couple who run it kept the restaurant open for us and remembered us from last time. It feels like a home from home. It’s simple, but a hidden gem. Spread the word about this special little restaurant!

Lovely fresh home made Indian food. I've been ordering my party samosas from them for years now and everyone loves them. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Wide range of starters, I had the Mogo chips & the bel poori. The main masala dosa. Whilst it isn't the most stylish of places but the food is honest & the service is friendly. All this was washed down with a mango lassie. It's very tasty food at an affordable price also you can buy various snacks to take home.

I'm very very lucky to have this little gem of a place around the corner from me. Home style food, there is so much variety for vegetarians like me (and I tend to get bored of the same old menus you see elsewhere). The owner is always very welcoming, has a good family ethos, and is very accommodating for fussy eaters like myself! I try to bring any visitors here as it's such a special experience - small venue, but big flavours and impression! You will want to eat everything on the menu and their street food is incredible. They also deliver and when I was ill a year or so ago, with husband away, I ordered a batch of food to help me get through the next days with the most nutritious passion fruit juice. Am 38w pregnant and planning to order some when I go into labour to get me with my energy, it's that good!

Finding decent Gujarati food (or even decent vegetarian food) is no easy job in London. Santok Maa serves up classics- perfectly crispy potato bhajias, Undhiyu, shaak, rotli- as well as superb versions of food popular across India including a must-try makhani kofta dish. Not only is the restaurant superb value but it has been run by the same lovely married couple for over 20 years; being there really feels as if you're spending time at their house! Restaurants like this are becoming increasingly rare as London becomes a financially untenable place for small, family restaurants to operate, so please pay these guys a visit. You will not regret it!
