Been coming to Chat House for years and it’s by far the best curry house in Croydon. Excellent food and service. Could not recommend it anymore!

Amazing food. Our go to take away. Ordering through Deliveroo app is sometimes a little buggy but they are happy to manually amend over the phone (and haven’t got it wrong to date). Brilliant restaurant.

Always a great time here when we visit. Amazing food, and insightful recommendations when we ask for help choosing outside of our usual 10 dishes! Phenomenal carry out service too - we are happy to be considered repeat customers.

I've been a regular at Chat House, and every time I've ordered, the food arrives piping hot and wonderfully fresh. My favourite dish is their Tandoori Shashlik Chicken – the caramelized onions and green peppers break up the curry dishes very well. The Tikka Masala, with its perfect balance of cream and spices, is my second go-to; it's so good that I sometimes opt for it without any meat. The onion bhajis are also very well done here. While their vegetarian options are great for someone who's trying to eat less meat, I'd appreciate more curry-only choices. I'm not always a fan of potatoes in curry and I like to add the veg separately. Lastly, recently there's been a change in the mint yogurt sauce recipe – it's now yellow and not as moreish as it used to be, however this doesn't detract from the overall quality of the food! Thank you so much for such amazing food and a very recent price! I can't wait to eat here in person!

We didn’t book but were seated no problem. 9pm n Thursday night. Staff were friendly, attentive and great with kids. The food was exceptional. Every single dish was bursting with flavour. Delicious and plentiful. Best curry had in years!

The food at Chat House is unbelievable!!!. My family and I have been dinning here over the year and it's still a great dining experience. We we're been there as a party 4, 5 and 6 and have never had an issue with seating. The staff and the services you get is fantastic, we always feel welcome and have a great time.

Ok so at first I panicked lol delivery drivers have messed up before from other places so when the just eat website said "delivered, enjoy food" I called the restaurant three times worried as I hadn't received it. But that was quickly put to ease when I left it and waited like the restaurant had told me to do and baam my doorbell went. It's not easy to find my address as I live ontop of a shop BUT they found me. I'm so happy to say my vindaloo was AMAZING omgggg yessss spicy is what I like and this was not only spicy but soooo tasty I probably could have called in for a phoul ...all my food arrived hot the tikka biryani was amazing. I had my old favourite shop that shut down, but I'm happy to now say I've found my new favorite place to order from. I've ordered so many Indian takeaways and this was just amazing. Also a BIG thank you to whoever I spoke to over the phone as not only did I call once or twice but three times and every time he was patient helpful and understanding xx

Terrible customer service. The moment you mention Tastecard, the waiter's whole demeanour changed. And didn't even bother to apologise, when I explained to him about his behaviour. Not a happy customer.

Omg … this place is awful! Waited over 3 hours for my order from this place with excuse after excuse of why it couldn’t get to me…just to be told at the end they were starting to cook it now! Unfortunately it’s now 10 o’clock and my kids fell asleep before their dinner got to them…thank you so much for your marvellous service (Not!) and note: if you can’t cope with your orders, just say ‘No’ instead of giving people the run around! Definitely be ordering from someone more reliable in future!

Last minute decision to go for Indian food after a long day of DIY in our daughter's new house. Not familiar with the are so took a chance on the Chathouse. Arrived at 8pm on a Friday evening and walked in to a large restaurant with only one table occupied which was a bit of a concern. However we were given a warm welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The restaurant itself is well appointed, bright and clean. I would not hesitate to go there again when we are back in Croydon.

Wonderful dining experience. We we're a party of five. No issues with seating. Service was great and the food was amazing. A very relaxed atmosphere the staff were super friendly and always on hand. Cash and Card is accepted, Toilets very clean. Overall will be a regularly spot can't fault it.

Absolutely love Chat House, me and my family have been dinning here for the past 10years!! We have never been disappointed, and actually having tired other restaurants & takeaways, I can proudly say nothing beats Chat House’s currys! I had the Chicken Tikka Mosalam, it’s Chat House patent version of Butter Chicken but my word, so much more flavour and creaminess. Butter chicken tastes dull. We Also shared Haryali Lamb which is their spinach & meat curry, absolutely divine and meat is cooked to perfection. You can even ask for a different spice levels, depending on your pallet. We share 2 freshly cooked garlic naan’s and one boiled rice. Perfect amount for the two of us.

Love the food but certain waiters can be very rude. They also put a service charge on the bill, personally I like to decide what tip I leave. Will stick to takeaway so I limit the time I spend in there.

Food was fantastic, restaurant was spotless, but I would say the staff weren't that friendly and seemed not to want to engage in conversation, and seemed a bit moody too be honest, it wasn't busy so it wasn't that they were rushed, that won't put me off coming for the food again.. I would suggest the staff try to smile and be a bit more cheerful even pretend your happy for the custom😁

Best curry I have ever tasted! The sagg paneer is 10 out of 10

Food tasty and reasonably priced . Only negative was the night we were there they had a large group in who were loud and swearing lots , put a dampner on our evening unfortunately . The lady there was apologetic but equally could do nothing to quieten then down . Would hesitate before going there again for a quiet meal .

We have ordered here several times and always been good. Not on this occasion ordered on line for delivery was told an hour it was well late nearly two hours when it came it was cold was promised it would be replaced with in 20 mins still no curry and 30pds spent its now 9 o'clock and still not here taken the first curry back. I'm so disappointed as normal very good so no stars and will never order from them agian and not even a apologise very poor service.

Had a lovely family evening last Friday with my wife and the in - laws. Excellent. My 85 year old father in law and his friend thoroughly enjoyed the food. The staff are warm and friendly, provide an excellent efficient service. Quality, plentiful food (my wife’s family agree with me, and are Asian, so should know !!) highly recommended. Don’t miss it!!

Can someone explain why when you order half a tandoori chicken you get 2 legs

Just had our usual Saturday night takeaway from Chat house. We have been dining in this restaurant for many years and takeaways for as long as they offered delivery, and clearly no one would return time and time again if the food wasn’t great and the staff weren’t great too. Unfortunately things are not as they were. This evenings meal was dreadful, it was simple fare, just a Madras, a Pathia, and a Masala. All were swimming in fat/oil, horribly over salted, and lacked true flavour. The Onion bhaji’s were overcooked and the vegetable sides were no where near the usual standard for Chat House. On top of all this very poor food the delivery was 40 minutes past their emailed delivery slot. All in all a thoroughly disappointing experience, and this is now the second time in the last 6 weeks the food has been well below par for this place. Its the 4th time the delivery has arrived at least 40 minutes over the stated time and its been very difficult to get anyone to answer the phone!! Whats going on Guy’s???? Since posting this review I have eaten in the restaurant a few times and had numerous takeaways, and I’m very pleased to report that Chat House is back to its normal high quality, and 5 stars are the only rating possible. So well done!!!

Visited with my wife and our friends for a night out. Beautiful food and good wine list. We enjoyed the mix grill and chicken Handi. The air con was amazing, proper relaxed. Service was ace, good hot towels to wipe off at the end and friendly smiles. Our bill was fairly reasonable and we even left a good tip! We’ll worth it. Will return back as we cannot fault a single thing. Only recommendation would be wish they delivered to Coulsdon!! Love the food so tasty.

I’ve tried many different dishes across a lot of Indian restaurants throughout croydon, but….. NEVER have I come across flavours soooo vibrant and delicious, consistently like Chat House. HONESTLY THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. The amazingggggggg taste and texture of their Chicken Dhansaks and Chat House Specials, as well as other dishes such as the Lamb Dishes that comes with a beautiful variety of different taste with each different lamb dish, particularly the lamb hariyali and Lamb Jalfrezi standing out for me personally. HONESTLYY!!! This is definitely a restaurant that caters amazing food in a family friendly restaurant with kind and patient staff who go all the way making sure the SERVICE is TOP NOTCH!! DEFINITELY A PLACE TO COME BACK TO AGAIN AND AGAIN. Hasn’t disappointed so far in my few visits!!!!

Went for a family dinner on Sunday, the food was mouthwatering! Must say, my favourite dish were the special Hariyali Lamb and Chicken Dhansak. Did not wait long for food, great service and lovely ambience. Will be visiting soon 😊

I’m Indian and I’ve always been disappointed when I’ve ordered Indian food around my area (Croydon/Sutton ish). I was a bit wary ordering bc a lot of places do cater to an English palette but I was really craving some good Indian food and I saw this place had good ratings and a high hygiene rating too (with covid, especially important). BOY was I impressed with the food! Great portions, not swimming in oil like some places, good value for money, lotsa meat inthe meat dishes and no chewy bits! and, most importantly, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Such a variety of flavour and spice levels, I couldn’t get enough. I will be ordering here again for sure. Even my dad, who has always said “no one can beat his Indian food” had to give it up! 😂

Had a dinner here tonight with mum and kids. Everything from the food to the customer service was amazing. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The tandoori prawns 😍😍😍 all the food was served nice portions and the kids really enjoyed the pineapple juice. Will defo be coming back again. A little gem in the heart of south Croydon. Thanks for a wonderful meal guys.

Havnt been here for a long time but wish I had sooner. The food was so tasty and as expected for the dishes chosen. Staff really attentive and flexible with our needs (group of ten golfers) which helped make the evening great. One tiny gripe is the toilet facilities which could do with a little maintenance or modernising. Apart from that we all left satisfied.

Excellent food and good service

We went as a group of guys from church and had an amazing evening. The venue was light, modern and airy and we really enjoyed going there. We had a good number of starters at each table which were very appetising and enjoyable and a good opportunity to try many different dishes. The main course was a number of meat(s)and vegetarian dishes, rice(s), vegetable dishes, bhaji's, nam breads which were well presented and very tasty. The service by the staff and management was first class and we had a fantastic evening. Can't wait to come back another time to try the extensive menu.

We went In a group of 4 people on 27/3/22 and ordered 2 beers and one garlic Dish with 4 papads ..the person who was taking our order was so rude.. And asking us only this much you want to order. Twice he asked and in last when we as for bill.. What they have given See the picture total of £26.55 this is the bill.. Where is the items and individual price. They are making fool and fraud.. To customers..

Visited Chat House for the first time this week having just moved to Croydon. I had a wonderful visit. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend.

This is now our go to Indian restaurant, and we think the best in south Croydon, the food is always well spiced , the portions are decent and the service is always very good. We’ve been on numerous occasions with friends and as a couple and always been very impressed.

Absolutely disgusted with service. Always use this curry house but tonight they left us waiting 2 hours for our food! They offered no discount on an £80 order . Food had left restaurant after an hour so Woukd have been cold . They took the food away after making us wait for 2 hours. They would rather upset us further and throw the food away or pass into the next poor customer….Now my family have no dinner and it’s 9pm!!!!! Will never ever use them again!!

We went here for a birthday dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. First of all, the ambience is very lovely and the welcome we got from the staff was really good. We ordered our food and didn't have to wait long. The food was excellent. I have eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants, but the chat house has one of the best curries and biriyani. The staff are lovely and Customer Service is really good. I definitely will be dining here again and I think you should too.

The best Indian takeaway I've tried. This is my number one and every time I order I have never been disappointed the good had always been great. Great Vindaloo and Lamb Tikka. Big portion size as well. Good prices too.

Just ordered via justeat. Received in terrible condition. Containers not closed properly. Food and oil spilling from the containers contaminating the whole bag and dripping all over the floor. The food itself is bland with no spice. Do not recommend.

The best curry in Croydon, we exclusively order from Chat House now having tried many other places before, their food is incredible and the staff are wonderful too. They are often busy so bear this in mind when you order for delivery, but they always manage to deliver 10/10 quality food and the reason they are so busy is because everyone in Croydon loves the chat house!

Don’t order you won’t get the food

I’ve been coming to ChatHouse since 2011, and very rarely find another Indian restaurant/takeaway wherever I go that compares. They know us well and greet us like we are family every time. Staff who work there have done so for a long time so do recognise regulars, some by name. We have now moved to Reigate so can no longer get takeaway orders but we do make the effort to come to the restaurant. The Garlic chilli chicken is just so excellent with fresh ingredients, along with the chicken jalfrezi, chicken tikka masala and chilli paneer. I went for my birthday recently after having not been for a while due to covid and I absolutely loved the experience. The only thing we would criticise is that the bill is not computerised, making it very difficult to check as it very much depends on the person writing it. Service charge is automatically added in the restaurant no matter how many people are being served which I actually think is quite wrong: large groups I understand, not just two of us. We would tip anyway but that is very much our choice. Improvements we would want the restaurant to make are the computerised bill and perhaps adding a gratuity option on the card reader for tips rather than automatically incorporating the service charge in the bill.

Good restaurant, slightly expensive if you don't go on a 2:1 day, like to go here with the rugby lads though and the staff are always king and helpful.

Lovely meal, Garam Naga Chicken with Chapati cooked to perfection requested extra hot always hits differently. Amazing staff always attentive when needed! Definitely will be back!

Stumbled on this place when a flatmate ordered from there and have since placed a few orders myself; typically for chicken jalfrezi, pilau rice and saag aloo. Was truly divine, best Indian takeout I’d had in the Croydon area and at least on a par with planet spice in Selsdon. Sadly the last couple of orders have been no where near that. The saag, in particular, being no where near as nice. I’ll be skipping this place for a bit. Hopefully the quality returns.

Great restaurant that we've had takeaways and sat in. The quality of the food is the same either way. Whenever I'd like an Indian then this is the only place I order from.

Attentive service & clean restaurant. I just personally felt the food wasn’t as good as previous visits. I don’t know what they’re now serving as pilau rice but it was just a stodgy clump of white rice unlike any pilau I’ve ever been served before in there or anywhere. Chicken tikka masala was quite sweet tasting. I would like to have given a better review but based on the food I ate I can’t give ‘very good’ on this occasion. Other members of the party enjoyed theirs but as they’ve not been before they can’t compare.
