Absolutely appalling, website says Sunday buffet, not true,prices extreme for a local curry,wouldn't pay there prices up mayfair, shame was a poor experience

Excellent food and service. Generous portions even on half price days every Sunday and Wednesday. Very friendly staff.

Always loved this restaurant and whilst it’s always been a little pricier it has been worth it for the service, food and atmosphere. However, having not been here since March 2023 I went here this weekend and was shocked with the total bill. £96 for 2 people with no alcohol. On closer inspection of the bill I’d even been charged for the chutney tray to go with my poppadams. I will be looking for a new Indian restaurant to go to because the bill simply did not justify the food that we had and the service, whilst good did not justify the £9 service charge.

Really warm welcome from all the team. Excellent service and amazing Indian club specials as well as the classics. A must for Indian fòod lovers.

We’ve visited the Royal tandoori many times over the years. To be fair recently as a grown up family to keep cost down we select takeout, however tonight as it was just us two we thought we’d treat ourselves to going out. No problem getting a table at very short notice on a Saturday night, should’ve set alarm bells ringing. Honestly I was shocked when we got the bill, £3.95 for a small glass, not even a half pint of lemonade, £4.00 for the tiny pot accompaniments plus the cost of the poppadom’s. For me the £7 for a small side of cauliflower, £7 for a small sag panner, £16 for a small chicken korma. £5 for a garlic naan, with terrible margarine, not even butter! . With the greatest respect we won’t be dining in house again. And to be honest I’ll think twice about ordering take out. The service was great, but to charge those prices for small portions is just greedy.

Very very expensive - not worth the visit. Would not return. Small portions and I don’t know how they can justify the prices, rip off !!!!! Good : Staff were friendly and service was quick as it was not a busy evening.

OVER CHARGED food salty could not eat my curry as pure salt. Should have itemised the bill before leaving but with family and wanted to leave. Never going back they overcharged at least £80

Ordered for delivery. The food was as the other reviews say, amazing! Really full of flavour - however, the delivery took 2 hours and 20 minutes to arrive which is a let down to their lovely food. Would order for collection next time.

Ordered via Uber eats , was meant to arrive at 18:10/18:30 came at 19:45 after calling on 4 phones as no answer. Food eventually arrived and was cold. Very disappointed as was a treat for us . Will not be ordering from them again. Obviously taken on to much and should concentrate on the restaurant or own deliveries. As when Uber or just eat are involved the quality and service goes downhill.

Very nice restaurant. Staff are extremely nice and friendly. Food is very nice but my partner was disappointed with his meal this time. Not as nice or as spicy hot as our previous visit.

Without doubt one of the best. Such a great restaurant with all you can want. Please try the Indian club specials menu. The Indian shepherds pie was a amazing must try.

I've eaten in lots of Indian restaurants all over the uk. This family run restaurant serves the best food I've ever tasted. They use fresh spices, garlic and chilli for each dish so the aromatic quality is retained. They make their own chutneys. We had shatkora and dansak and the layers of flavour in each dish was delicious. The chicken was tender and looked like chicken rather than cubes of pre frozen white meat. I wish I still lived nearby.

One of the best meals I've ever had in an Indian restaurant. The freshness of the spices meant the dishes had an aromatic quality as well as a kick from fresh garlic and ginger. They are not the cheapest, but definitely worth it.

Constantly get texted by them, despite never asking to get offer messages via text. Asked to be removed via Facebook. No option to unsubscribe via the text message or their website. Food clearly wasn't great as we never ordered from them more than once.

Had a meal here tonight with two friends. I have got to say that it was the best Indian meal I have had in the last ten years. The food was fantastic and the staff very attentive and extremely professional. Portions are well proportioned too... All in all an excellent experience and I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant... And I must add very reasonably priced too... Huge thanks to you all and I will definitely be back very soon...

Recently visited the Royal Tandoori in Selsdon, whilst the majority of the food was ok the staff need to understand what customer service is and may be a smile would be good too. Will not rush back

Super expensive now and smaller plate portions. Went back after a few months away. Prices on menu have shot up, smaller portions now too. Food still good but don’t think you can fool us by increasing your prices above the average and give us smaller portions too. Will not be returning, and I’ve used this for 20+ years. No customer loyalty. Such a shame. No longer the best.

Table was booked earlier and arrival on time. Walk in and most of the lights were off. Seat down and asked about the lights. Then they said main lights are not working. Could not read the menu without using the torch on a phone. At that point decided to walk out.

Amazing meal. Tried for the first time today. Had the banquet deal. 3 of us. We tried sheikh kebab, lamb samosas and onion barjhis. For side bombay potatoes, sag paneer and chicken peas. And main was chicken jalfrazi, prawn balti and chicken dansak. Rice and nan breads Absolutely amazing meal. Staff very welcoming. Been to many currys houses around the area and this is a absolute must visit

With so much choice for good Indian food on every high street, this restaurant gets full marks, beautiful sauce's, no traces of fat and no nuts, it's going to be hard to accept anything less. It's a destination restaurant, I can highly recommend.

We have ordered a take away through "just eat". Estimated delivery time was 30-45min. As soon as it was confirmed it showed over 2 hours. Called the restaurant, but no answer. Used the option to collect it ourselves. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed, seated and explained the situation. Waiters kept us up to date at all times. They also gave us a treat for the wait. I must say you really have an amazing customer service and know how to put things right. Curries were great too! Will definitely visit again.

Everything about this place is brilliant. The food, the service, tha atmosphere (cheesy music!) But especially the food. So tasty and fresh and the recommendations from our waiter are always spot on! Looking forward to becoming a regular here. Need to book again..

I have to say that Royal Tandoori is by far the best Indian restaurant I've ever experienced. I'm a regular here and totally blown away by the food, service and total focus from the team. Areeb is a true genius with the menu and to top that off, you have Mo who truly recommends dishes that are packed with flavour, cooked to perfection and all have their own individual tastes. Their chef is an absolute gem and if you truly want to experience fine dining without traveling to central London, then make sure you book a table here.

Love the place, go often, and only downside is its popularity as it can be a bit noisy if a large group are in and you are near them. That aside it's top of my list for modern innovative Indian food.

My go Indian restaurant for 20 plus years. Recently made first post covid trip. What a feast. The food and portions were excellent. Unfortunately the bill, in my opinion, was very expensive. The dearest curry of my life, per head. Love the food and ambiance but after 20 years, at these prices, this is my last visit.

Something going on with the amount of salt in the food, second takeaway tonight and my mum unable to eat a mild chicken curry ☹️

We are here about 2 weeks ago. 4 of us and the bill was approx £170. We had 4 starters. The lamb samosas were to die for as was the tandoori chicken. The onion bajis we not in your face a d nice and crispy. The main courses. Mine was lovely, I had a chicken dish, other mains included a biryani a chicken tikka a lamb pasanda. All excellent. Needless to say several beers and G&Ts. All in all a great experience and will definitely go there again as they are up the road. Very attentive staff considering how busy they were. A great little restaurant.

Our first time in Selsdon and the the Royal Tandoori. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The food was absolutely delicious and everything was hot. The Crispy onion bhaji was huge. I enjoyed my lamb passanda and my granddaughter enjoyed her vegetarian bhuna. My husband had a really tasty lamb buryani. The staff were friendly and attentive. We were very impressed and will be returning again when next in Selsdon.

Warm welcome and patience while late arrival of friend driving from Germany! Good service throughout (but only three tables occupied on Monday evening) We were all very happy with the food - very tasty and excellent portions. We all needed doggie bags. Largest crispiest onion bhajis I've ever seen! Real chicken used. Some people thought it was chewy - probably needed bit longer cooking in the sauce. Only disappointment was small portion of spinach bhajil - great flavour, not oily but not enough! Would definitely return.

Always a staple experience,that I have been going to for years. Sadly the owner 'Bashir' has passed away which is a great loss to his patrons and the community. R.I.P. You will be missed .

Terrible takeaway, extremely watery madras, tikka masala so sweet it was in edible and old dusty pilau rice, most went in the bin. emailed them about it, no reply. Disappointing

We usually love a takeaway from Royal Tandoori and have made this our ‘Indian takeaway place’. Unfortunately this evening our £40 takeaway arrived cold. Called to report the situation and was told they would ‘make a note’. So I am now left re-heating it all in the microwave. Bit upset by the response. Won’t be ordering from here again now. Too much of an expensive risk to take. Shame as the food is usually delicious!

Truly for me the best Indian restaurant I have been to for a very long time. Really good service. Fantastic food.

Fresh and delicious, much more than a standard Indian restaurant. Their Wednesday deal is such good value for money and I couldn't recommend the North Indian Garlic Chilli highly enough, SO good.

Absolutely brilliant , cant fault it. Lovely restaurant nice and spacious , little busy so good atmosphere , nice clean fresh. Service was impeccable from the moment you enter they cant do enough for you but they dont keep interrupting you meal at the same time they leave you to it until you need something. Staff are really friendly. Food is unbelievable everything was cooked to perfection taste was incredible no grease no problems it was faultless had 4 starters 2 mains 3 sides and couldnt find fault with a single dish. Easily this is the best indian restaurant i have ever been to and it will now become our go to place even lo it is a 30 min drive its more than worth it.

I've been ordering from (and occasionally dining in) for years. Had a bit of a dip in quality a few years ago, but back to being very good again now. Friendly staff and good selection of menu choices. Would recommend.

Great food, excellent service, never disappoints

After receiving takeaway, realised that instead of an onion bhaji was given a mushroom bhaji. So, I politely called the restuarant asking for the onion bhaji. They 'investigated' and called me back, confirming that they had written down mushroon bhaji rather than onion bhaji. I was patient, as being the receipient of the the wrong item, already knew this. I genuinely expected an apology and a correction to my order. INSTEAD I was told that I could bet an onion bhaji but had to pay for it. Money wasn't the main point here (and I had already tipped the delivery man). It was the way that I was spoken to and feeling shocked at the complete lack of willingness to correct their mistake. Very bad customer service.

The food is delicious but the service is so slow. We visited as a group (pre booked) in January 2020 and they took over an hour to bring out starters. We had to ask several times. We've just ordered takeaway tonight and the food took an hour and a half to come, arrived lukewarm and the portion sizes are tiny compared to what they'd serve in the restaurant. King prawn Puris arrived with barely any curry and 3 prawns each...like they had got one normal portion and split it into two. Very disappointed considering we spent over £70.

Order for deliver, 1 hour late, 2 hours after i ordered it. No update(they claim to have delivered), not answering their phone. Shockingly poor and if they think they’re getting paid for this, they are mistaken. Will never order from them again.

Had an awful experience with their takeaway service this evening. The food arrived 50 minutes late, over 2.5 hours after we placed the order. The naan breads were rock solid because they were so burnt. The curries were very oily and looked like they had been mixed with others. To top it off we have called them over 30 times to try and get through and understand what was happening, no one answered.

Attended here on sat evening 2nd October 21 and although the food was great I would have to say the service was very slow with what seems at times an effort to serve for youre needs we booked table for 11 it was a special occasion of a 25th wedding anniversary and a lot of money was spent but I felt that we the restaurant didn't warrant the hospitality for our attenders, we all recently went to another Indian restaurant and there service was amazing with the owners even putting out balloons decorated table ,and birthday cake, nothing was enough and even gave us free cocktails I would recommend the food at the Royal tandoori but the service wasn't quick enough and portion sizes were very small all in all though a lovely evening with friends and family on this very special occasion

As an Indian knowing Indian food and taste well, the food taste and look is no good. The butter paneer had pieces like potatoes which made it look so ugly. The paratha are not at all Indian. It was thick one with no layers at all. Sadly had to throw the food out. It was such a waste of money for me.

Went for dinner with our family for my wife's birthday.. 6 adults and 4 children. The food was excellent and the service was amazing. The staff were very good especially with the children. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I ordered a takeaway from here based on online reviews and I was extremely happy that I did. I ordered a tandoori king prawn grill - which came with mint sauce and salad, a tadka dal and a naan bread. The dal was probably one of the best tasting that I’ve had in years. So many places that I’ve tried just get the simple flavours and texture wrong, so I was very pleasantly surprised. The spices were spot on and it was just so tasty. The naan was also perfect - often it can be soggy from the journey but it was fluffy and tasted wonderful. The prawns were great too and came with onions and I was suitably impressed with everything, as you can tell. All in all, I would recommend this establishment and will definitely try some of their other dishes.

Not much to say other than reasonably priced, friendy and good quality food. Onion Bhaji starters were huge though and filled my partner up before mains so she left with a take away

I will give 10 stars if I could. The food was delicious without that oily and bloating feeling that sometimes you get when eating Indian food. The waiter was soooo nice, made us feel welcome and was really helpful with the menu without been pushy. With so many months without restaurants coming back to one that is like this is I think is what we all need.

Not particularly vegan friendly. It was hard to understand which dishes were vegan and the staff weren't helpful in this regard either. But apart from that the experience was good.
