Planet Spice in Croydon

Just ordered a delivery for the first time and would definitely recommend. We had mixed grill for starters and then I had mango chicken and coconut rice and my husband had lamb madras with plain rice. All the meat was lovely and tender. Delivery was within a reasonable time especially as we are a bit further out of their area.

A family favourite, our kids 11 and 6 love it here. The staff are always welcoming and it genuinely feels like home from home.

The food was not in the same league as previous years the decor is very old and in poor condition- there was and issue with hot drinks and some of food in the buffet was very weak in terms of taste and flavour- the staff are friendly

Excellent restaurant with lovely ambience, good food & friendly staff. The place is kept clean & tables are tidy. Food selection is great with a wide varity of dishes available and a good selection of drinks. The service is fast & friendly. The staff make you feel welcome & also help you with your food selection if you are not sure of the kind & type of food you want. You are allowed to take your time & not feel rushed to finish your meal. Overall a good experience for a good meal 👍👌😁 Always a pleasure to eat at Planet Spice. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. A definite improvement since our last visit. Not perfect but the best we've had locally in a long time. We'll be going back for more all the time the quality stays that good.

Ordered a takeaway 27th December. Loads of sauce, not very much meat. What meat there was pretty tough and in slithers. Shame as the takeaway we ordered from here 2 months ago was so good

Food was delicious as always and very filling. However, service was pretty slow, particularly when waiting for the bill which took a v long time.

Had Sunday Buffet. Spot on. Tandoori BBQ wings were soo nice. Curries were delicious. Fresh naans served. 👌

Lovely food. Would have gone back if staff owned their mistake instead they called me a liar. I just wanted an apology instead they repeatedly called me a liar. Made me angry. Can only hope they find out I'm not lying and don't do it to anyone else.

Had a lovely meal as usual, the staff are friendly and always attentive, one of my favourite restaurants to visit.

Attended on Saturday 5th August 2023. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we entered the restaurant. We were quickly serve an initial stater. Whilst eating the starter the order for the main course was taken. I said I couldn’t decide as the choice was vast. The NAGA was recommended and no joke it was superb. Additionally whilst ordering the main course the manager advised the portions were quite large and so he suggested we stopped ordering. His advice was correct. After the main course, the desert choice was mainly ice cream which helped:-). All in all the evening was very enjoyable and very reasonably priced. We will be returning again. On a side note observation, the volume of deliveries being sent out via food ordering apps would suggest that I’m not the only one who must think the food is good.. I recommend you try it, I doubt your be disappointed. Well done to all the staff (especially Marwan!!!!)

Went on Friday night to have a family dinner. The atmosphere and food was brilliant. The service was excellent.

I had a takeaway delivery so I cannot comment on anything other than the food and delivery. Delivery was quicker than expected and deliverer was very nice. The food was OK. Nothing terrible but lacked flavour and spice. I think it would be ok for some but disappointing for me. Good itself was well cooked but just lacked taste.

I ordered a take away via Just Eat. When I arrived to collect it I was offered a drink whilst waiting. The atmosphere was very welcoming and personalised. Once again…the food was impeccable 100%. Thank you all so much. Ruth

Fantastic meal, service was outstanding, friendly atmosphere

We used to live behind this restaurant and used it regularly because it was so good and offered something different from other local Indian restaurants. After many years, whilst visiting the UK and staying locally, we thought we’d treat ourselves and relive some of those food memories. It’s sad to say that this place has gone so downhill it now ranks as the worst eating experience I’ve had in years. The vibrant decor had declined to the extent that there was visible damp on the ceiling, the paintwork was peeling off and the seating material was badly stained and smelt. For entree we ordered onion bhaji which were small and greasy and served with a minimal amount of limp and tired salad. For mains we ordered a chicken tikka passanda and what was served was plain, boring and bland chicken breasts that had never been anywhere near a tikka marinade or a tandoor and what minimal taste there was appeared reminiscent of chicken being boiled or microwaved. The breasts were floating in a bowl of bright yellow cream that literally tasted of nothing and had a sprinkle of stale almonds on top. The accompanying keema naan was dry and tasted of nothing.

First time back since Covid and failed to dissapoint. Service and Food spectacular, full of taste and flavour.

Tried the Sunday buffet, food was tasty but not alot of variety. No samosa, onion bhaji ect ,no pudding items and 1 nan bread between 5 people. Was very basic. Staff were polite

Have been coming here for years, and it is a favourite for me and my family. Food is always lovely. I tend to go for the chicken dhansak as it is always delicious and spicy. Would recommend.

Gorgeous food delivered exactly on time. We'll definitely use again! Update March 2023: quality seem to have gone downhill sadly. Fatty lamb, dry chicken, bland sauces.. what a shame.

We wanted a restaurant walking distance from our accommodation and Planet Spice fitted that criteria! We did not book but walked in to be greeted by smartly dressed staff. We were offered a choice of tables, the restaurant was quite quiet. We were seated and ordered drinks and Poppadum's and were given plenty of time to decide what we wanted to order. We skipped starters but chose various dishes to share rather than one main each and the quality of all the dishes was excellent. We enjoyed a bottle of wine with the meal and the bill was less than we would have expected. We will certainly visit Planet Spice again either eating in or take away.

Food was nice but place needs a good clean and refurb. Everything is as old as me in there. Torn, old, weathered, faded… Price wise, decent…

Went on a Friday night it was a bit quiet, but the staff were helpful and friendly good selection on the menu and food was great, nice large portions, the booths were a bit difficult to enter for the older members of our group but comfortable. Overall a good experience and would recommend!

Always get great food and service. Why not try the meet Nagga, very hot but the taste is great, and they will make it slightly less hot if you ask them to.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in South Croydon. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience and very friendly. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely one of the best meal we had while in Croydon. Highly recommend.

The entire experience was a 10/10 for us this evening. From the very beginning to the end the customer service was exquisite and we felt at ease, the food was definitely made with care and full of flavour, their mixed platter for two was a generous portion and was enough for three. The lamb biriyani was soft and succulent and the flavour of the potato and cauliflower was a great edition to the main dish

We were on our way back home from a friends when we decided to go for a spontaneous meal. We both fancied a curry and didn’t know where to go, as we drove past 3 on our way. We thought we’d go to our usual in either Caterham or Warlingham. However, we drove past planet spice and thought we’d give it a try. We both hadn’t been there before and would definitely go back! The service was great and food was even better would definitely recommend

Since planet spice has gone under new management and the company has become more focused on quality service dining in or taking out very tasty, don’t go anywhere else.

I don’t usually eat in the Indian restaurants in the UK as most of them fail to deliver the authentic taste of Indian cuisine. This time I was really amazed while having dinner with my family in this restaurant. I and my family enjoyed every bit of the food. The food was served hot and most important thing the proportion of spices they used was top notch. I also liked the cozy environment they tried to build using simple arrangements in the interior, which I think is perfect for eating and enjoying food of this specific cuisine.

Ate here tonight after fancying something different. Ordered online for collection was very easy we paid at the restaurant. Ordered at 18.30 and advised food would be ready at 19.00 and it was ready on time . Food was hot and very tasty .highly rated . Delicious food and lovely staff. I wanted a dish like methi chicken but wasn't sure of a similar dish on their menu. The waiter very kindly said it was no problem for them to whip me up a flavoursome curry with added fenugreek leaves, and it was amazing!

First time out since lock down and me and my partner and 2 of our friends got together and decided to go out for a curry as ready the reviews and thought it sounded like somewhere we would like to go out and eat and when we got in there it look very worm and welcoming but that's where it ended the food was extremely small on the starter size and when the mane come we all just look at each other as there was not even half a chicken breast each with some sauce on it the rice and a very funny smell to it as well when we ask for the bill it tock 4 time to ask before it finally come to us and the bar man was having a shouting match with a customer it was the most uncomfortable experience in a restaurant we have ever had my apartment did ask the waiter why was there a funny small on all the rice and he didn't no and just lough and walk away so day the lest we will neave go back to this place again
