Santo Cafe & Bar in Greenwich

Never heard of the place but was meeting a friend before going out for his birthday. I got there 1st and found the rooftop bar. I enjoyed the idiot proof lift controls (see picture). At top I walked to bar and wasn't greeted in a friendly manner. I thought I had accidentally walked behind the bar. Alas the barman just had no customer service skills. Ordered the only draft beer at £7.50, Paid on my phone and took a seat. Notification came up on phone for £8.44 so I wandered back to bar to question my bill. The (not so) welcoming bar person said it was a 12.5% service charge. I was shocked and stated I ordered 1 pint and I wasnt even served at my table so how could they warrant that. Another bar person said to him that he shouldn't have charged me but didn't offer an apology, refund or anything. So I paid an extra 94p to walk up to the bar and be served by a robot like staff member. Mate turned up with a load of friends following but told him story and we left. 94p lost you £37.50/round and won't be returning.

We only had drinks… never again! Miserable unhelpful staff . Pizzas looked good guy next to us had to go to get his own condiments and serviette . The worst gin and tonic at £13 no stirrer, I had to go get a drinking straw and not a slice of lemon to be had! Lesson learned! I won’t be going back. Much nicer places nearby.

Lovely little cafe. The menu choices were somewhat limited but there was a good selection of pizza. The food was well cooked and arrived within a reasonable timeframe Licensed. Great staff, helpful and cheerful.

Visited yesterday for drinks. Had the best bruschetta I have had for a long time. Very nice. Also great garlic bread. Staff very good. Thank you

Drinks were sat for 10 mins and when they arrived they were stone cold the staff were so lazy an absolutely poor experience

Served a purpose for quick food on a busy event night. But the service was poor waiters looked like they didn’t wanna be there, & the food was liking eating school dinner. Bruschetta was basically toast with chopped tomatoes on top with bit of rocket no dressing at all & the pasta served in metal square dish, very unattractive & for £15. It was so basic it looked like a child’s cooking! Would not recommend or go again.

Excellent service and one of the best Diavola-pizzas which I have ever tasted. Really nice and cosy Italian restaurant

Called into Santo Cafe & Bar at 8.45 pm this evening. There were 2 waiting staff who offered to help but before I could say anything a woman from behind the counter shouted over that they were done, last orders. She was very hostile and I found her attitude a huge contrast and disparity to the waiting staff. I also found it strange why the door to the venue was open if they were no longer serving customers. I explained that I was just looking for a drink. She remained hostile and repeated what she had said, they were done, last orders. I told her her customer service was nice and then turned around and thanked the waiting staff for their friendliness and left. I guess being located near a gig venue they can afford to be hostile and turn customers away. I looked up the website for this place and saw that they don't actually close until 10 pm, so, for whatever reason, the hostile woman lied. I go to the O2 frequently and have visited many other establishments in the area. It was my first time at Santo Cafe and Bar, and I can assure you I will never go there again.

Tasty pizza and drinks not extortionate for location to be honest. Service was great Ihad extra anchovies added during cooking thanks to Matilda our lovely very attentive waitress. Would definitely come here again. Outside seating has heating, thank goodness 😉

Called here for a quick drink before O2 Peter Kay show. If you don`t mind unfriendly staff ,dirty toilets and a service charge added to bill then this is the place for you. We did over hear a few people complain about missing items off their orders and time waited to be served .

I’m not sure how , but I can’t describe it for you guys ! I’ve had the best pizza ever , I’m Italian and surely the head chef or the chef who prepared that pizza is an Italian ! It was amazing ! We got served in 15 mins but I don’t know why they told us that food would take 30-40mins, that can be understood … Staff were really gentle and they were two managers or head staff coming and showing up around asking if everything is fine. It was a hot day so we choose to sit in the outside which was really amazing , we were waiting for 6:00 pm to go to show in O2 ! Would love to visit again , however I’ve got 3 days left and I got to go home!!! recommended !! Ps:I’ve got a menu picture for you !

It was busy, but tables were available, there was a much reduced menu to pizza only, not even fries were available. We were told there could be an hour wait, to which we understood. However, to wait an hour and a half by which time all but three tables remained, still awaiting their order is somewhat taking the piss. We had finished our drinks within 20 minutes and with in the 2 hours we were there, no one cleared or asked if we wanted more drinks, we tried to get attention, at one point even sat with our hand up! So went directly to the bar to order a cocktail to be told they weren’t making any. Still no one came to the table. I felt for the staff, way too few of them, but surely when only three tables remain, all waiting over an hour and a half for food, the least you can do is see if they want more refreshment. The entire experience was an absolute joke. Not a clue what is going on with management but it seriously needs a kick up the arse. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

We went here after the Queen event at the 02 on Saturday. At first it seemed really well done, they managed the queue at the door, took orders and then you were given a ticket to collect drinks. It was busy but all seemed sensible and the drinks were reasonably priced for London and decent quality. Staff were not that friendly but they were super busy and efficient so this could be forgiven. This was 23.05. We had just ordered drinks, there was still a queue outside the door when the manager stated very loudly 'I'm not staying here all night - tell this lot they need to be out by 11.15!'. He then disappeared. The poor staff were then left to tell people that they had less then 10 minutes to drink up and they the locked the front doors! People who had been queuing were fuming as was everyone inside who had just bought drinks - some were still being made! It was a joke. To add insult to injury there was one toilet stall...one, for everyone in the bar. There was a disabled toilet but this was locked off. I spent the 10 minutes waiting for the bathroom and was forced to down my drink and head back out into the rain!!! At this point the manager was then seen stomping around demanding people leave. Did this manager not want to make any money? Does this place even want customers - it did not feel like it! We have another event booked at the 02 later in the year...guess where I won't be going for a drink afterwards!

This was the most place which provides delicious pizzas ever ! Staff were nice , asking us if we need anything every time in a while , food was on time. We were there for the Queen party just last night. We ate at Santo and came back after show for drinks coz I was in love with the decoration inside ! I’d definitely be back !!!

Horrible experience. Food was uncooked, waitress was RUDE and if we asked something, she looked on us like we are stupid. Waitress was wearing UGG… everyone else was wearing normal classy clothes. Didn’t understand menu- too many Italian words… come on, it’s UK!!! I love Italian food but I don’t think that in a restaurant I have to use google translate 😂🙄🙄 We spent 50£ for 2 beers, fries, 2 pizzas… they charge us 5£ for “””service””” 🙄 Seriously, worst place I have ever been in last 3 years…. Would love to speak with the owner

Food delicious from the starter till the desert! Pleasant environment! Next time need to try the pizzas because they also looked delicious!

Visited with my son and his girlfriend when on holiday. They live in London and thoroughly recommended it. Beautiful authentic food

A pretty simple menu, but really tasty freshly made Italian food. Pizza and pasta were both great and service was good. Recommended.

We’d just arrived in the area on a blisteringly hot day, and were ready to eat something scrummy. We definitely found the right place. We got a friendly welcome from the young lady there, who showed us to a great table with a view of...
