We loved visiting the Sanctuary Cafe again. Some of the best light refreshments in town in an unhurried peaceful environment where nothing seems too much trouble. Free WiFi and parking as well. We'll be back..next week!

Just been to the sanctuary cafe for a late breakfast. Was warmly welcomed by the lovely volunteers who run the cafe and shown to a table. We ordered a panini and tea which was freshly made to order and delivered to our table. I then indulged in having a slice of coffee and walnut cake and more tea. Everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend venturing away from the High St and coming to this hidden treasure called The Sanctuary, situated at Orpington Baptist Church.

A nice friendly atmosphere with quality food. The staff was friendly and even though it was in a church they only encouraged you with kindness not preaching.

Absolutely amazing cakes and coffee! Especially the gluten and dairy free ones! I have never come across gluten free cakes that are so good, and the coffee is better than any high street coffee, I don't know how they do it. Always served with a genuine smile. This cafe is ran by people who love to be there and love to serve you. A majority being volunteers, you can tell it is their passion. They will leave you alone if you want to sit and get on with some work, or the staff will spend time chatting to you if you want to chat. So child friendly, there are always toys out and activities for the kids. A pleasurable experience! And it is about 50p cheaper than high street prices.

We visited the Sanctuary Cafe the Saturday before Christmas for an early lunch. It was busier than our midweek visit. The atmosphere was friendly and the service very good. We had paninis, which were very good and value for money. We have recommended the cafe to friends and will try to visit again when it is open on a Saturday.

We so enjoy coming here it truly is a 'Sanctuary'. The staff are very friendly yet professional at the same time. We are always welcomed on arrival. There is a great selection of coffees, teas, and beautiful looking deliciously tasting homemade cakes as well as wonderfully nourishing flavoursome soups. The penenis come with a choice of fillings and are served lovely and hot with a generous salade garnish. The Sanctuary itself is clean bright and delightfully pleasant with a superb coloured glass window which looks magnificent especially when the sun shines through it. My husband and I come regularly to the café as it's our favourite place. We have taken our three grandchildren on occasions who are 7,5 and 4 years old. They enjoy sitting at the table with us doing some colouring and socialising with us, each other and the staff in very happy relaxing peaceful surroundings

I have just paid a visit to the Sanctuary cafe, having not been there for a couple of months, and how it seems to have changed. What was once a very child friendly cafe, today just seemed anti children, or should that be 18 month old babies. my little girl i know wasn't very quiet, and did scream quite a bit but sometimes that is what children do. This did not go down very well with all the elderly patrons of the cafe, and there was a lot of tutting and comments, such as ' can someone get that child to stop screaming ' but I hasten to add the screaming was only sporadic and didn't go on for the whole time I was there. What was more galling was that the Managers young daughter seemed to take it on herself to constantly tell my child off, even though my child cant speak. She then sat with her friend who glared over at us like we were aliens from another planet. To say I am sad and disappointed is an understatement, as I have been going to this cafe a lot over the past 2 years or so. But needless to say I wont be back. The good and coffee are good, no quibble there. It is a church cafe but the people there today were so intollerent, it was upsetting. Great if you are elderly or have young babies, but avoid with children in general.

I was looking for somewhere new in Orpington to take my Grandma for lunch and was definitely not disappointed! The Sanctuary cafe is just lovely! The cafe is run by a team of happy and helpful staff and the food was fantastic. My Grandma had a brie and cranberry sandwich which came with a colourful salad and I had a roasted vegetable and goats cheese panini. We agreed that both our meals were prepared carefully and tasted great and at a reasonable price- much cheaper than other coffee shops further down the high street. Another lovely touch was some hand made cards on sale and the dairy-free orange and passionfruit cake is definitely worth a taste! Open on wednesdays and thursdays, I would highly recommend you visit this lovely new cafe.

I returned to the Sanctuary cafe in July. The quality of both the food and the service remain high. The cafe has enhanced its menu to include summer options and the ice cream sundae beats any other sundae available on the Orpington High Street - and at a less expensive price. For me - the waitered service is a definite plus when compared to other cafes or coffee shops in the area.To top it all, the welcome is always personal and one feels like a returning friend when entering the cafe. I will continue to patronise this venue. If you value fine food and service at an exceptionally good price, try this venue next time you are in the Orpington area on a Wednesday or Thursday.

I took my friend there for coffee and cake...a rare outing for her as she has mobility and eating problems due to Parkinson's but we felt completely at ease. The whole atmosphere is so welcoming, my friend relaxed and enjoyed her cream tea, we'll definitely be making it a regular trip.

I absolutely love going to the Sanctuary Cafe in Orpington, and miss it on a Monday Tuesday and Friday! I wish it was open every day! The staff are always so friendly, and the food is exceptional quality and value. It is such a relief to find somewhere that caters for and understands, gluten free and dairy free diets. There is always bread for soup or a toasted sandwich, amazing fresh home made cake, and the gluten free scones are better than any 5* afternoon tea in London. The ordinary menu looks pretty good too, but for me, to be able to eat out and have a choice, and the confidence that it is actually safe to eat, is wonderful. Most places locally just don't bother with catering gluten free. Apart from that, its the best coffee around, the friendliest welcome, and I thoroughly recommend it.

Nice selection of fresh cakes and a special menu for the kids. Good, proper coffee. Everyone was most welcoming and chatty - even the other customers. Nice to be waited upon and not have to stand and queue. Very good value for money. The lunch menu looked good. But I was already full from the coffee cake. When it is open on a Saturday, I will visit it again

We had lunch here with our three young children. Great kids' menu and plenty of craft and toys to keep them entertained, too. The menu even had a 'decorate your own cupcake' which our kids loved and which then came with little presentation boxes to take home. Fantastic service and a really enjoyable experience!

First class, fine food, friendly service, free WiFi at fantastic prices. I am running out of descriptions beginning with F! This new cafe ticks all the boxes. The cafe is set in an open forum blessed by lots of natural light. The home made cakes taste just like you wish mom had made! The light lunches are delicious and the menu is certainly not ordinary as the choice of paninis always offer something 'unusual', tasty and value for money. A friend commented that the 'salad garnish' with the panini "was not a garnish - that is a salad!"I have been several times to this 'Sanctuary' and have enjoyed both the cake menu (perhaps too much!) and the lunch menu. The portions are generous, but not wasteful, the quality is excellent but at an excellent price. If you are in Orpington on a Wednesday or Thursday, test this delight for yourself. You will be back again!

This café is an ideal place to enjoy your lunch break or a short coffee/tea break. The place is quiet, so that you can escape ffrom the rush of every day's life. The people from the staff are very friendly and welcoming and will make sure that you have everything that you need. What is also great is that there is some material that is available for toddlers and children, to make their visit more enjoyable. The food is great and is definitely good value for your money. I definitely recommend the Orpington Sanctuary café!

I visited here on Saturday with my 8 week year old and husband. All the women in the tea room were so lovely and attentive. Very helpful when it came to arranging a bottle for my little one. Cakes were fantastic, I would have had double helpings if I was still pregnant. I absolutely love Monmouth coffee and didn’t expect a little coffee house like this to have that brand so was pleasantly surprised that they did. I would highly recommend the place not only for the cake and coffee but also for the service and for making us feel at home and relaxed with our little one. Will be visiting again very soon
