I would 100% recommend this for a really good Chinese takeaway. I ordered via Deliveroo for me and my family, and it came on time, the packaging brilliant and food was hot, even in -2 degrees Edinburgh. Honestly I couldn't fault it if I tried.

It was the first time I came to Sanchuan for dinner with my friends. I was amazed. I haven’t eaten such delicious Chinese food in a long time. The portions of the dishes are also very large and delicious😋I will come again next time

We ordered sweet and sour chicken and beef tenderloin with potatoes. The sauce for the chicken was too sweet for my liking. For the beef, i didn’t like the texture at all it was too chewy and they don’t specify the sauce it comes in. The sauce was overpowered with black pepper which bothered me. Great service and team tho.

First time trying this place. I managed to find some nice chilli chicken in battery and rice. Was really good. On looking at the menu I thought I couldn't find anything I like - things like chicken gizzards, and other weird food, not for me. But loved like the busy Chinese customers loved it. Will go back x

First time here following a recommendation as visiting Edinburgh for a few days. The waitress recommended some dishes for us and they were absolutely delicious. Would definitely return and it was hands down the best Chinese food we have had. Great service too.

Best chips ever had, ribs are amazing, and the crispy beef brisket with black pepper sauce is to die for. Service was 11/10, will defo go back a lot.

A decent spot. Fairly quiet in the restaurant but it has a nice atmosphere. The staff are pleasant. The food is good with decent flavour but not without issues. Not enough chicken was served with the Chonquing chicken, but it was extremely tasty. Cauliflower in the veg dish isn't right for a Chinese restaurant, but maybe they are limited by the season. Steamed rice should come with the meal, you shouldn't have to pay extra. The cold slided pork belly with garlic and chili was lovely and plentiful. Overall a good experience despite the price on the high side.

last year I went here and I could give a 4 star rating and then I decided to visit again and it just disappointed me Prawn chou mein is too salty Suimai was so small and there was only 6 of them (it’s also frozen ones) And others is either disgusting ,bland or too salty It really disappointed me (but the service was nice ) DONT VISIT THO

The staffs are friendly and helpful. They "change" their ingredients to match our personal preferences who have a quite bad flu at that time. The prices are fair nor the portion. We recommend the steamed sea bas.

Ended up here (visiting from the States) on the last night of our honeymoon. Our server was so kind. Impeccable service. Best Chinese food I've had in years! We were very impressed.

Very tasty, fresh food. The bbq spare ribs are particularly delicious! Everything was hot, fresh and crispy. The service is great too, quick and efficient with hot plates and fresh cutlery and napkins between courses.

Delivery arrived with an expensive main order missing. We phoned up but no apology and they gave the impression they couldn’t care less. Rather than offering to send a new order out they bluntly told us to reorder through Deliveroo. This would of course incurred further additional fees. Not sure if we’ll ever get our money back. Very unprofessional and dreadful service. We won’t order again.

Their vegetarian offering was quite poor. The only tofu dish serve they serve is Ma Po tofu or crispy - no option for a simple stir fry tofu veggie dish. The menu does not cater for lone vegetarian diners because if you want to have tofu and veggies you need to order a dish for each - by that point you’re paying £35+ for what should be a simple meal. Ending up just ordering a chicken fried rice - which was nothing to write home about. Im only vegetarian for health reasons, but the lack of choice and extortionate pricing is a real negative

I ate in twice and ordered takeout countless times. I always forgot to rate Sanchuan every time. I don’t know if it’s because of the change of chefs, but sometimes the takeout I order when I’m not doing events tends to taste unpalatable [cracked]. Every time I order it twice in a short time, it becomes difficult the second time. eat. This time it was the second time that the cumin mutton and boiled beef became unpalatable... The previous times it was the crispy beef that became unpalatable for the second time... But these dishes are very delicious if the chef does his job properly, and Edinburgh No other Chinese restaurant has this The stir-fried beef with three peppers is delicious; the Beijing sauce really makes the burrito cry...I haven't had it for at least four years...so I changed it back to five stars, Sanchuan yyds...although it is not the most authentic taste of the Beijing sauce shredded pork, but still It's quite delicious in the UK...at least the form is exactly the same

Amazing food! Ordered a lot of food and it turned out great. Got beef chow mein, chicken fried rice, pan fried dumplings, and soup dumplings. All of the food was phenomenal. Service was great, staff are friendly, and service was fast.

Nice food, always love salted egg yolk chicken wings, amazing. Griddle lamb slices is a new dish, suitable for someone who loves spicy food. Also chose one dish from the new lunch menu, portion's big enough for a business lunch. We went at lunch peak time and could see staffs trying their best to give all the customers good service. Had a great time with my friend here for celebrating her graduation.

2nd time trying this Gem and mind and pallate were blown again! This time around tried the Pepper Squid, Seafood Pineapple rice and the Pepper Beef Szechuan style and Sweet n sour chicken for my girl. Even for delivery the taste is unbelievable, keep up the good stuff! They also sent the food in a gorgeous heatproof bag which I'll keep! Dont know why this restaurant doesnt have 5 stars. went in to the shop, got seated, and left without ordering, simply because there was no service at all. I went in at an off-peak timing, no one bothered to take my order, I've waited patiently for someone to notice me at first. The restaurant has a weird smell, and I saw an online discussion about how the employer of this restaurant glosses over their employee's accusation of a reported sexual harassment, saying that being touched is a part of western culture and not to be considered as sexual harassment. Shameful.

Ew what the hell. Beef? More like jelly marinaded in fat black bean sauce. I’ve made far better food at home using khins kitchen recipes. Food came very fast making me question its freshness to begin with.

Dropped in without reservation before going to Hue & Cry gig at Queens Hall . Hoping for fresh, good food with choices. Well we were not disappointed ! It was fantastic . We had some of the most delicious Chinese & Cantonese dishes . We had been regular at Loon Fung at Warriston for 30 years plus … however had been disappointed over past couple of years . So after eating here we have found out new regular ! Staff were very attentive, food order was taken quickly and fresh hot tasty food was delivered so quickly. My son said was the best crispy chilli honey chicken ever . We had the pineapple pork , our Singapore noodles were fantastic . Our other dishes were also fantastic . So thank you and we highly recommend your restaurant. We will be back .

Always wondered what this place was like so went for sone food to find out. We hadn’t booked a table but there were plenty available. We were given a warm welcome and shown to a nice draughty table at the window. The menu followed quickly which was great and our order placed. The food is clearly cooked to order so not the quickest but worth the wait as it is hot and fresh. Overall it was ok but food could be better to get more stars. Something that is weird is that the credit card receipt is for a totally different restaurant, don’t know what that’s all about just hope it’s all legit !

If you want a different experience and a nice Chinese meal, highly recommend.

Outstanding service! Generous portions. Lots of choices: beef, vegetarian, fish, pork… Slightly on the pricier side. Loved that they had tables with lazy suzies to share a meal.

All the staff especially Stefani are so warm and welcoming. The service is slick. The food is always amazing ( this was not our first visit) Such tasty food.Absolutely worth a visit

The food and atmosphere are great. However, last night, my meal with friends, was ruined after the waitress produced the bill and brought the card machine while we were only half way through our main course, because the restaurant were 'cashing up'. The absolute height of rudeness! I have been a regular at San Chuan over the years. However, after this experience, it is going to be quite some time (if ever!), before I return. Pity, as the food is good.

We just loved King Prawn Wonton Soup, and amazing spicy salad with flat rice noodles, spring rolls were crispy and rich, full of taste, great food. You do not come there for an atmosphere really (all these delivery bags right into the dining area, advert stickers covering the window view, etc) but food is good, and service attentive.

I ordered a large plate of chicken, which was a bit numb. The fat intestine fish in the dry pot is not like the dry pot. But the ingredients are fresh, the taste is delicious, and the service is attentive. The downside is that the rice is too hard. It's a good Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh.

I came here with my friend before a group of students. We have waited for so long!! When we urged for our dishes, the waiter said we came after that group of students w/o confirmation and said we should wait until they finished..The attitude is not also not good.. It’s not fair, so we just go away and we will never ever come there again.🙅‍♂️ p.s. 5stars for everyone else can see.

Been looking for a good take way in Edinburgh for years - and finally found one - food excellent- delivery - fast - food still hot and packaged nicely - delivery driver was great - just what I needed to get rid of my awful hangover - very pleased.

The food is good, we ordered pork belly and chicken soup (the portion is a bit small, there are 4 of us, and one bowl for each person is basically gone), sweet and sour pork ribs, Northeastern pulled skin, and boiled fish (this is delicious and the portion is okay) , cumin mutton (delicious, a little salty).

The food was really good, and Stephany (one of the workers) was really nice with a beautiful smile ! (I forgot to ask for her instagram 😂 so text me to lvn_913). If I come back to Edinburgh I’ll go again for sure ! Lavan

The great things about this place are the service and the ambience, food is just okay. The steamed rice is somehow little bit dry, others menu taste okay. For the price is little bit expensive but still affordable. Also they accept card payment.

Fatty beef with pickle soup was overcooked. The beef became chewy. Dry frog pot was too salty and the pork was too dry. Not a great but okay experience in general. didn’t expect to pay £3.8 for a bowl of rice… Also… the floor was greasy… pay attention when you walk, especially on the stairs.

Absolutely wonderful experience!!! The servers were so sweet and recommended food to us and they were absolutely banging. We were craving Chinese food and found this after walking out of the Meadow Festival. We had the poached beef in chili oil (my sister loved this so much), the special fried rice, the braised pork with fermented vegetables (absolutely decadent and sooo melt in your mouth), and lastly the chicken. I forgot to name of the dish, but it’s the yellow one on the menu. It was so addicting with the garlic/ginger?? dipping sauce. Absolutely enjoyed the entire thing. Fantastic place if you’re craving, and it’s worth your money!

I have eaten grilled fish many times and am considered a regular customer. The beef noodles and fried rice also taste very authentic. But this time the fish-flavored shredded pork was super salty, didn’t the chef taste it? Is it because it’s for takeout and it’s cooked in 5 minutes, omitting a lot of necessary seasonings and steps…

I can't express it in words, it was the most unreliable meal I had in Edinburgh during my 3 days. Or am I not able to order? A bowl of mushroom chicken soup costs 7 pounds. It’s just plain water and soy sauce.

This place has top notch food. We can as a group. Ordered lemon chicken, crispy honey beef, frogs legs, chow mein, spring rolls, prawn toast, duck pancakes. It was worth every penny. Friendly staff

Visited with my family and all of us been happy with food , been served pretty much ASAP in busy hour , but 4 stars are coz size of the portions is small, so normal meal will cost you.
