A tiny place, but very cosy and the food was delicious!

Small but nice. Cozy atmosphere to arrive. Very friendly service, food fresh and prepared quickly in Thai style. You won't find alcohol on the menu, but you can bring your own alcohol and drink it for a small additional charge

Without a shadow of a doubt THE most incredible Thai meal I’ve ever had, and one of the cheapest. My partner and I love to get Thai curries and this was leagues above our usual places. We ordered the pork ribs and duck spring rolls to start then the red duck curry and red chicken curry and pak choi for sides. Every single mouthful was a dream, we finished every drop. Really rich flavours and portion sizes were great, and what’s even better it’s BYOB so we got a bottle of rose from the Scotmid round the corner!

This is a small, 9 table, intimate Thai Restaurant. The food is authentic and delicious. You must come here. They don’t sell alcohol, however you can bring your own for a small corkage fee. We had a bottle of highland spring water and jasmine tea.

A lovely little cozy authentic Thai restaurant! With true authentic tasting dish. "Tom Yum Soup" is a must try, pack with flavour and with authentic Thai level heat! "Pad Thai" and "Duck with pepper & garlic sauce" is also spectacular!The lovely married couple runs the restaurant by themselves, so might expect longer time for food to be served. Good food but reasonable price! Definitely recommend!!

The padthai is nice and in big portion for £12.5. However the thai fishcake for 5.95 seems a big to small of portion, although it taste good. Bil can only separated into to payment.

Despite being the only customer at 7.45pm, it was already nice to see that it was a family-run restaurant. I think it's run by a couple - wife serving, hubby in the kitchen. When i arrived, i think one of their daughters/sons was there with their grandchild - it was nice to see a Thai restaurant full of Thais. The food was excellent. I had spicy soup which was just perfectly balanced. I then had seabass with red curry sauce - fabulous!! The fish was perfectly cooked and the sauce went so well with it. I loved the food and although there wasn't any atmosphere, the Thai music was pleasant in the background and i was able to look through my phone without fear of being watched. I would definitely recommend as a place to go for great Thai food.

We have been here several times and love it. The food is really very good, authentic and fresh. The service was always friendly and once the ice is broken, great conversations are possible. We'll be here again next time we visit Edinburgh. I'm already looking forward to it!

Food was ok. Menus were sticky and dirty and the cook kicked out us out of the restaurant 40 minutes before closing. When we asked why, they said "it's not busy". Won't be back, simply not worth it

This is a very understated little restaurant. It’s inconspicuously located on a side street off the main street through Morningside. You feel as if you are in the owner’s dining room ! But the food is fantastic and very low price. We had two bowls of the Tom Yum prawn soup (delicious!) plus a chicken satay as we were very hungry! Then the Panang curry with coconut rice for me , and Green curry with sticky rice for my dinner partner. Bill came to just over £50 for that little lot! Great value!! You have to ‘bring your own’ alcohol as they don’t have an alcohol licence by there is a CoOp nearby so that’s not a problem .

Lovely Thai restaurant. Very small so booking essential. Food was delicious - definitely a slightly different taste than normal Thai cuisine. Well worth a visit!

Wonderful food. Duck spring rolls were to die for. Monk fish curry , Tom Kha all excellent. Realised at the end we didn't take any photos. Food was so nice we forgot.

Ordered for collection. Food was 20 minutes later than stated. Chicken satay was pink in the middle and our rice was clearly microwaved and almost stale! One of our group got Tom Tum soup with prawns and there were only 2 prawns in it. Really disappointing flavours and quality compared to other Thai food in the area.

Consistently the best Thai food I've had in Edinburgh. £50 for 2 starters, 2 mains and sides, £2.50 corkage, Cannae beat it!!!

Spartanische Einrichtung, aber sehr leckere Speisen mit freundlicher Bedienung und authentischer Thai-Küche. Unscheinbar gelegen und eine absolute Empfehlung wert.

Perfect food and the portion is perfect to be shared. E.g. 4 different dishes for 4 peeps is filling enough.

Food was outstanding...had the pre-theatre...tremendous value..all the favourites were on it..BYOB makes it even better value

Authentic and tasty Thai food but service was lacking overall. After the starter we were told to keep the cutlery for the main course, which was very odd to say the least, and the server didn’t bother to ask if we wanted dessert. Quite cramped inside and could be more accommodating. Overall it could be so much better with just a few small improvements.

Nice family run Thai. Very friendly host and food was delicious. Thai food out of Thailand never blows me away, but just as good as fancier restaurants charging twice the price. Decor is a bit sparse, but clean, tidy and I'd happily eat here again.

Delicious food but the evening waitress is unfriendly to the point of rudeness. Such a shame as it spoils what was a great evening. .

Nice Thai food with good service. There’s a pre-theatre menu for which if you order between 1730-1830 and leave by 1915 you get one appetizer and one entree for £13.50. Do note that they charge you extra for rice and tea. Really enjoyed the satay chicken skewer, the green curry chicken and the roasted duck.

A hidden gem away from the main Street. Very reasonably priced and tasty food. Took a bit long to come out but was worth the wait. We shared a started and had a main each as well as side each (noodle and rice). Also brought our own bottle of wine as it's BYOB. including corkage it was just under £40 so very reasonable. Friendly service and a very homely feel. Would recommend :)

Felt like the waitress just wanted people to leave so she can finish.. Food wasn’t great either. Plenty of way better Thai restaurants in the city. Probably the worst I have been to in Edinburgh. Went for takeaway, ordered a lovely Panang Tofu, the tofu was crispy, the grilled aubergines and asparagus fresh, the curry sauce tasty and the dish was decorated with various herbs. Sorry no photos, I was too hungry!

De-li-cious! We did not mind waiting a wee bit longer; they're popular, family run and obviously hard working. You can taste the fresh ingredients in this authentic cuisine. I'm known to be fussy usually but could not fault anything. From the beautifully cut vegetables to the attentive packaging so that the food would not get soggy by the time we got back home. Thoroughly enjoyed our no-nonsense take away - thank you - we'll definitely be back soon.

Absolute Thai is aptly named. A lovely Thai husband and wife cooking their real Thai recipes for you - just as Thais themselves like it. There's no better indicator of authentic Thai food. Absolutely Thai and I love it. Small restaurant means an attentive service. Now December 2020 they can offer their delicious dishes only as takeaway to enjoy at home. Good things don't last forever so don't delay!

Due to the current lockdown restrictions takeaway was the only option available at the time. Unfortunately it seemed that any brain functionality had also been taken away from Jackie Chan's stand in taking the order. The fella was distant to say the least. He seemed zoned out with a head full of magic from the transcendental meditation mantras music going on in the background. We returned 40 minutes after placing the order to a chaotic sense of deja vu something reminiscent of a scene from the Twilight Zone. We were told the food would't be ready for another 20 minutes as the combination of too much music and medication was taking a longer time to wear off. Needless to say the food was as tasteless as the music...

They were open for takeaway and had hand sanitiser etc at the entrance But the good news story stops there The guy who took out order was too busy bopping around to his music to care about us or our order. Finally we managed to place an order and were ‘told’ it would take 30 minutes to prepare which was fine. However when we went back 35 minutes later we were ‘told ‘we had arrived too early and the food would be ready in another 10 with no apology offered. We duly returned to pick up our order which was handed over without a bye or leave. When we got it home it was a massive disappointment, it was bland and lacked any flavour. There’s better places open for takeaway at the moment who are far more customer focused than this place.

I'm going to be honest, I was hoping for some great food when I ordered a takeaway tonight. The reviews were good, it looked like a nice place. For the price, it was barely better than your average Chinese takeaway fare. Maybe if I'd ordered something different this review would be 5 stars but for what I got, I was really disappointed. The pineapple duck was, as far as I could tell, no different from a generic sweet n' sour sauce with some random vegetables thrown in. Cherry tomatoes were nice though. Fish cakes were actually alright, but I only got them because they didn't have what I originally ordered, and the rice was good. Just feel a bit ripped off. Might order again with something different and hope I just made a bad choice from the menu!

Ordered over the phone on Saturday night. Delivery or collection available- menu on Facebook page. We were really happy with the food, duck rolls, chicken satay and two mains, all fresh, authentic flavours and delicious and clearly made to order. Definitely be back for another soon!

The staff were totally disinterested and unwelcoming, but when they brought one main meal too few, and one rice too few (should not be difficult, we were only a group of 4) their response really took the cake. They had no idea meals were missing until we asked which of the meals was which and if another was coming. They fumbled and looked at the menu and the ticket order and told us nothing. After a few more minutes we had to ask if they had it ready or if they were starting to cook it from scratch. This was on top of the over 55 min wait we already had for our (reduced number) of mains. It was too much trouble for them to get us new glasses of ice when we ordered another round of drinks, and we had to go for our third choice of drinks since they did not have any mango juice or lemonade in stock. The staff didn’t thank us for visiting, did not apologise for the mix up, and come to think of it did not welcome us just mumbled about ready to order at the beginning of the evening. The food (that did arrive) was tasty but overall such a disappointing experience I cannot believe they are in business. There is another tasty and welcoming Thai place around the corner on Brougham St which I normally go to but thought I would try a different place for once. I should have gone for the tasty and welcoming place and not wasted my evening and money on Absolute Thai.

Amazing and authentic Thai food, made by a talented husband-and-wife team. It's a true family run restaurant which adds to the charm. Also BYOB. My companion and I had the Absolute Thai starters, a sharing plate of fish cakes, tempura prawns, spring rolls and chicken satay skewers. For mains, I had the Green Curry Monkfish, which was incredible, and she had a Red Pineapple Curry, which was tangy and not too hot for her delicate palate. Do be aware, though, that "1 chilli hot" in this place packs more of a heat punch than "1 chilli hot" in most other restaurants. Like I said: authentic!

Really enjoyed our meal in Absolute Thai. Authentic Thai food not fusion.I think it is served for our western palettes but if you dare ask for it spicy. For my wife and my taste a little too much fish sauce in th Som Tam but still very enjoyable, probibly a Thai person would like even more Nam Pla. Not a fancy restaurant but if you like Thai food give it a try. BYOB and there is a Co Op just across the road , no Singa but good selection of chilled wines. Go and give them a try very enjoyable.

A little gem of a restaurant Was taken by our daughter for a pre theatre meal Husband had Tom Yum soup for starter, our Daughter had Chicken Sate and I had tempura prawns, daughter and I shared our starter Really delicious and beautifully presented For main Husband had Beef stir fry, our daughter and I had Chicken with cashew nuts we all had rice Everything was delicious and a good sized portion Great you can take your own alcohol, the corkage is reasonable Staff very friendly, helpful and efficient Will definitely return

Food was nice but the rude staff and unwelcoming atmosphere was a huge put off. Then when we went to pay the man put the wrong amount and charged us extra , we only found out later we had been overcharged. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Great value and great food. Small restaurant so better to book. BYOB with a reasonable corkage charge. Mainly Thai with a few Indonesian dishes. Friendly staff. Slightly off the beaten track but well worth checking out.

Obviamente han cambiado los camareros desde las críticas anteriores, ya que la camarera que nos recibió fue educado y amable y muy atento. Lo que hace que este lugar sea la comida que estaba deliciosa. Compartimos los entrantes mixtos que nos dieron un sabor de sabores deliciosos. Me había salteado pollo frito y anacardos que era muy fresco con un poco de patada. El marido tenía un curry verde tailandés con arroz pegajoso que dijo que era fantástico. Amigo tenía el pad Thai, que también estaba delicioso.También es BYOB con 2. 50 para el descorche que mantiene los costos bajos.Acordamos que todos regresaríamos.

We've tried a number of Thai restaurants in Edinburgh and thought we would give this one a shot. It's tucked away up a side street near the King's Theatre. Not a particularly great entrance. It's pretty cramped as well when you go in. Only two other tables were being used when we came in. No welcome. Shown to a really poorly placed table. We asked politely if we could move to another vacant table? Advised in no uncertain terms no. I therefore said we would just leave. That table amazingly became available. Menus placed on the table. No advice about the menus. In fact no dialogue whatsoever. I've never known such a miserable individual working in a restaurant. We put our order in. We had to ask for glasses. It's BYOB but don't think for a second any offer will be given to open your wine. I had the duck spring rolls and the green curry. It was the worst starter and main course I've had in any Thai in Edinburgh. The duck was a glutinous blob and completely unappealing. The green Thai curry was heavily dosed with fish sauce and unpleasant pieces of what was described as chicken. Fortunately our waiter never bothered asking us about dessert. He had made it clear at the beginning that we were on the clock. It was the most dialogue we got out of him. I never left a tip. I made sure to count out the exact payment. This was a truly terrible experience. It didn't help that the establishment is extremely drab with no atmosphere what so ever. I'm annoyed that I paid good money for such a disappointing evening out especially when there are so many other really good establishments close by. You really live and learn. I have absolutely no intention of ever returning to this restaurant.

This wee restaurant serves fantastic thai food but the service is awful. The waiter is so glum and he is slow at everything. We had to ask for wine glasses and when we asked for a second wine chiller, we were told no. A table of 2 is only allowed one!! The restaurant was not busy and I said I would return it if it was needed for another table ... but again was told no. If the service improved, then this would be an amazing restaurant, but unfortunately it is let down by the waiter.

Mi primera impresión no fue estupenda, no nos recibieron con mucho afecto y luego nos sentamos junto a la puerta abierta, por lo que quedamos muy rodeados. El servicio de nuestro camarero fue incómodo, sin embargo, esto fue completamente compensado por la deliciosa comida y el servicio encantador que más tarde Conseguí de la esposa del chef. Hemos visitado este restaurante en varias ocasiones y siempre es bueno. Nos encanta el entrante de intercambio, el rape al rape y la vieira, el pad Thai y el curry panang. Como es BYO, tiene una excelente relación calidad-precio, la comida es excelente y las porciones son saludables. Hemos comido aquí para la cena y para el menú previo al teatro, y ambos tienen una excelente relación calidad-precio.

Been to this place a number of times and usually opt for the fabulous banquet which includes sirloin steak and duck. This time we were frugal and enjoyed the pre theatre menu- great value and the king prawn pad thai was delicious.

We went here for the first time this weekend for dinner. Absolutely delicious,fresh authentic Thai food at very good prices. One of best Thai restaurants we’ve been to. Excellent and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be returning and telling others!!

My husband & his friends were here for one of his friends 70th Birthday meal. (11) men in total. They all said the food & service was excellent. Would definitely recommend going. Just waiting on my husband taking me now!

Sin dudas el mejor Pad Thai que he tenido fuera de Asia. El servicio no fue increíble. . . esa es la única razón por la que tiene mucho sentido. Pero la comida era fresca, sabrosa y definitivamente regresaría. Parece que estás en una especie de restaurante emergente, pero nos encantó. BYOB también ayuda una bonificación ya que la cooperativa solo se encuentra al final de la carretera
