Sams Bar in Thanet

I don’t know how this place continues to hold a licence for trading, something I will be looking into. I would not waste your hard earned cash on this place, because you get nothing at all except awful greasy food and extortionate prices. After politely complaining about the food and their attitude I was refused my request for half of my money back as , I had eaten the egg from the sandwich and tasted the greasy chips ‘ which were disgusting ! I thought requesting half my money back was reasonable, but I received a mouthful of laughter and abuse from all three staff. I also noted that the premises were far from clean, as a previous reviewers have stated, there was no hand sanitiser available, a filthy dirty fridge that customers have to help themselves from and rude staff. I’m not one for telling others not to take their custom there as it’s their own choice, but please be warned and don’t waste your money. I will be contacting the local council to see what they have to say about Sam’s Bar holding a licence.

Gone are the days of sizzling prawns and good coffee. It was going downhill since before lockdown.. Since change of ownership? 3.50 for two slices of white bread and a once frozen cheap sausage. The premises look uncared for. Cash only. Forgot my order.. Staff looked seriously miffed at a) working on a BH weekend b) I'd bothered to ask where food was for my kids. Probably thought I was a day tripper who won't come back. But no I'm local. Louisa Bay for better fresher food and a smile. At these times when you have to hang onto customers and ones who'll see you through winter.. You need to do this thing called customer service.

Stopped here today and ordered 2 portions of chips and was charged £7! I asked him to confirm the price and her said £3.50 a portion, I paid but thought it was really over priced. The chips were in a white tray and really cheap and low quality, I won’t be returning at that price, I expected to pay about a fiver was shocked at £7! Saw some good reviews a few years ago, I can guarantee it’s different ownership now to who had it then!

This place beggars belief. Not only is the food low quality but there seems to be a complete absence of the fact that we are living through a pandemic!! There is a fridge which customers help themselves from. I saw no cleaning between customers. No social distancing between staff. No sanitiser. Communal bottles of ketchup etc. And a very real sense of NO HYGIENE practice in the cooking area. Contrast this with the next cafe along in Louisa Bay and head in that direction!!

Shame that food is cheapest ingredients. Furniture is rusty and dirty. Often not in compliance with 1 metre apart... as queues block promenade. Toilets very uninviting circa 1950s Brick outhouse. To be avoided ...try Louisa Bay Cafe :cleaner, better organised for high compliance and very clean , with better quality food .

Super cafe with chips , tea , coffee. The highlight of our day trips to Broadstairs and Ramsgate. The owners are delightful

The location & view is wonderful, perfect for playing with the dog. Don't know what mood others were in but have always found the people friendly, cheerful & helpful. It is not gourmet food, what do you expect, but a smashing cup of tea & a bacon sandwich hits the spot in the sunshine after playing on the beach. Generous filling in my ham sandwich, decent bread & a pretty good crispy side salad with a nice dressing, all from a beach bar. Have taken friends who have enjoyed their visits too - what more to say.

One year on, I have to say that nothing has changed at Sam's bar, it remains excellent with great food, coffee and service with a smile. I have introduced quite a few people and in turn they have introduced others. It is a great place to sit, relax, enjoy the view whilst eating some really delicious food - bacon and egg, sausages in rolls, bacon butties etc.

Fab place for tea and ice cream not for food. They cook the cheapest sausages they can buy which are mostly bread based and inedible. Never have the scrambled eggs. Nice bread though and large portions. Overpriced for what they are spending on ingredients. The cafe in the park does better food but worth going here for the beachside experience. I've witnessed a number of holiday makers leave their food in disgust. Shame.

Having walked around the promenade loads of times and past Sams Bar I decided on a nice hot day to stop off and have a cold drink and a ham salad and boy oh boy what a beautiful salad, loads of ham and very fresh crisp salad, beautiful. Since been back and had the steak version. Again beautiful.

¿Cómo llega alguien ir tan mal, ya que marca la izquierda los nuevos propietarios , que no creo que tengan una idea de correr una cafetería de playa . La ubicación es genial y se beneficia de la Sunset posterior (si el café está todavía abierta)cualquier forma i divagando , he tenido té un par de veces aquí antes, ya que creo que los precios de venta del café en un restaurante no go .El té tiene un sabor realmente barato y venía un retrogusto , no volveré aquí, los propietarios no parece que adecuado .

I love this place! Beautiful views, delicious food, and lovely Mark. We never get tired of coming here as it is so wonderful. The breakfasts are absolutely massive.

We love coming here a little off season when the wind is blowing and a brisk walk has made us hungry for a fantastic breakfast. Mark is super kind and always makes people feel like a friend not a customer... it really is a gem in a beautiful location.

what a wonderful place to sit and look out over the sea while having breakfast...or lunch! very relaxing and excellent food.

I very often stop for a coffee and a look at the papers whilst enjoying the view out to sea. It can be very difficult to tear yourself away when the sun is shinning. A good selection of food and ice creams at a very reasonable price. Located just at the bottom of Dumpton Gap slip it is well worth a visit.
