Nous avons passés un bon moment pour boire un coup à l'apéro. Cependant, la serveuse est agréable au minimum et l'ambiance du pub est un peu sombre. Beaucoup de monde et prix corrects.

Great little pub with lovely Customer service. Small in the centre of the city, but still escapes the busyness of Bath. Cosy sitting indoors for the winter and chilled small seating area for the summer. It has become one of our favourites simply for the lovely locals.

We stopped by for drinks and were very impressed. A very friendly barkeeper and also lovely patrons who made the whole experience very fun.

This is a very nice place to visit, right in the action. Its a cosy and relaxing place to sit, with a very traditional feel and nice old dark wood decor. Excellent range of drinks beer well kept.

Lovely, friendly pub. We think it’s under new owners who we would say are doing VERY well. Bar staff were attentive. We accidentally spilt a drink and this was replaced immediately for free, despite it being our fault. We spent a lovely few hours here after walking round the Christmas market

I'm a big fan of this pub and I always make a visit when I visit Bath. A bit sad that the old menu of standard pub grub has gone yet I'm also sad I didn't make it in time for a Parmo on this visit! Very friendly and a good place for a nice pint. Ps this place isn't closed at the moment, not sure what TripAdvisor is on about!

Great wee pub and the barman was so friendly played music we asked for and chatted, plus one of the regular was Just as friendly

visited the "boozer" as new owner Max Halley the sandwich man calls it! added bonus was that he was in bath that day, however sadly we did not see him! The pub has undergone a fabulous makeover and can not wait for Max to introduce proper old fashioned bar snacks ( scotch eggs pork pies etc) My husband is a big fan of Sunday Brunch, Max and his wine loving dad !! maybe next time we will be lucky enough to meet him!!! Most importantly Your lovely bar lady is very knowledgeable and amazing ...thank you for my water & bone ...with "pugs and kisses" to her from Ronnie the Pug!!!!

We came to Sam Wellers on Sunday for drinks after dinner. The barmaid was lovely, good music, traditional pub we spent way longer than we planned to as we really enjoyed it in here! Definately reccomend!!

Great to see Sam Wellers open again. The pub has had a makeover and looks very clean. Butcombe beer was spot on. The staff behind the bar were friendly and welcoming. Disappointed that there was no food.

Visited for lunch having seen good reviews on here. Very traditional pub, simple, cosy and friendly. Menu is pretty standard pub food - burgers, fish and chips, steak etc. We chose macaroni cheese and scampi and chips. When the food came out it looked proper old school - no trendy twists or gastropub flashy edge just good honest grub! And the taste was good - the scamp was tasty and not over fried with good chips too. The macaroni cheese - just sooooo cheesy! As a huge lover of cheese I was in heaven! No holds barred on the calories and a nice garlic bread to mop up all that cheesy joy!!! Don’t expect modern, trendy, cheffy twist - or anything unusual - it’s simple pub grub but nicely done in traditional surroundings.

Food was awful. Ordered a bacon and egg sandwich. Was expecting a sandwich. Got one of those bake in the oven over cooked baguettes with bacon and a fried egg literally just placed on top of the baguette. Not even in it. Had to ask for condiments twice. I can't imagine there's a warmer welcome in Bath than at this cracking little pub. We were made to feel right at home immediately and the table service was great. If only all front of house staff were this good! Didn't eat there but enjoyed three lovely pints of Landlord. Highly recommended.

Popped in for some lunch and best decision we’ve made! Absolutely delicious food (the chips are the best I’ve had!) and the man behind the bar was incredibly friendly and kind, we would definitely go back!

Ma partenaire anglaise me demande quel prix j'ai payé, ça lui paraît bizarre selon les 50% de discount offert par Boris, elle va donc discuter et il ne veut rien savoir. Quelques minutes après, le propriétaire arrive avec 1,50£ pour discount. Donc avec mon accent français en anglais, il a considéré que je ne suis pas anglais et il a donc essayé de profiter de la situation pour m'arnaquer. Et ce n'est pas correct tout comme certains serveurs à Paris essayent de profiter des touristes. Mais la bière conseillé fut bonne, la prophecy.

What a little gem this pub is, your typical british pub. We had lunch here this week, and got a very warm welcome. Very good menu, caters for a lot of tastes. Our food was really great and we shall be back to sample other dishes soon

Un pub alegre, sin complicaciones, donde no se puede esperar en una ciudad patrimonio de la humanidad. Es otro bonito pub antiguo con bar y comedor. Tuve una baguette con salchichas y cebollas, acompañada de papas fritas y una pinta de cerveza Sharp’s Doom Bar. Es una buena ubicación para alguien que visita el centro de Bath. Nos detuvimos entre los baños romanos y la galería de arte Victoria. Nos sentimos muy bienvenidos.

It was a rainy late weekday afternoon when we passed by this place. It was fairly empty when we arrived. After placing our orders of fish and chips, steak and onion baguette, rump steak and cottage pie. The food arrived fairly quickly and the portions were generous. These were washed down with bitter and cider ordered. As we left this place, we note that the pub was full, and quite a few patrons were regulars. Definitely a place to go for your drinks and pub grub.

In this day and age of Gastro and plastic bars its so good to find an excellent traditional pub like Sam Wellers. Great choice of four superb real ales, such as Butcombe, Doom Bar, TimothyTaylors and Proper Job. Then throw into the mixture two wonderfully friendly and efficient ladies Lisa and Elly doubling as barmaids and waitresses, really good pub food and you have the perfect mix. Five of us finishing the 100+mile Cotswold Way Walk could not have celebrated anywhere better.Cannot praise this pub highly enough and will certainly return.

Had a meal here, choose the Lasagne which was lovely, hot and tasty, came with garlic bread slices couldn't taste the garlic but overdone on the dried parsley not a great taste, and a basic salad.

This is a cosy little pub in central Bath that usually has 4 cask ales on tap and an extensive menu of traditional pub grub. We called in for lunch earlier this week and had a very tasty Lasagne and garlic bread which came out piping hot. The barmaid was very friendly and helpful and we would have no hesitation in returning.

Great traditional British Pub - probably could do with a bit of a revamp but the food was excellent and the bar prices reasonable. We were recommended to eat here by another Pub nearby which had stopped serving food that day. Lovely barmaid and nothing too much trouble, service super, fresh food, served quickly, A starter, two mains, two beers and two glasses of wine - £41.75p.......Would eat here again no problem!

Several pubs in Bath only serve food during day and not evening so relieved to find this open and welcoming and very good food, especially the fish pie special.

I can honestly say that after searching for a pub with fish and chips we came across a winner! The fish batter was so crispy and the chips were thick and crunchy. The sausages in the all day breakfast were delicious as was everything else

Sam Weller's is a cosy little pub, set in the heart of Bath. They serve a traditional English menu. We had the fish & chips & garden peas, the fish was a very fresh full fillet of cod with a lovely light batter, the chips were proper chunky chips, the food was delicious & reasonably priced. The landlady & bar staff were very friendly & welcoming. The wait for our food meant it was freshly cooked (but it was not a long wait). We will be visiting Sam Weller's again & would recommend you do the same.

My friend and I popped in here because we were starving and we’re craving English pub food. The jacket potato was out of this world. We also had the cottage pie which was absolutely delicious. The chips are cooked perfectly. They are so crispy on the outside and wonderfully tender on the inside. We washed it all down with a couple of drinks that were made perfectly. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. If you’re looking for good old English comfort food this is the place.

The land lady is one of the rudest women I have ever met in Bath. She is horrible and mean and disrespectful to her staff and rude to me as well! Ghastly rude woman that SHOULD NOT WORK THERE. Think her name is Maria Flammia!!! Get rid of this monster...

Shared a lasagna with my partner, it was great! Big serve, enough to fill us both. Fantastic service, the woman behind the bar was kind and on top of service! Super happy.

Pub trouvé au fil d’une promenade en centre ville. Intérieur sympa, accueil tout autant, nous étions 8 à vouloir déjeuner, choix de fishes and ships... un peu d’ attente ( avec une bonne bière...) nullement déçu : plats copieux, poisson tip top et frites croustillantes pour un prix tout à fait correct. Nous nous recommandons !!

We visited here for pre-match drinks before watching Bath Rugby beat Wasps. Lovely beer and great atmosphere.

After checking into our hotel Friday afternoon we went for a stroll into Bath town centre in search of an evening meal. We looked at many places however most were busy with the hussle and bussle of the social side of a Friday night. Then we turned a corner and found Sam Wellers. The bar tender was friendly, he greeted us and informed us they were still serving food. Perfect! We sat in a cosy area near the back of the pub. The menu had the all pub classics. There was music playing in the background but not loud so we could chat after ordering our food. The food arrived on large plates which were suitably filled with the food we had ordered. The food was hot and tasty. We were able to relax and dine out in the Centre of Bath on a Friday night, without making a reservation. You wouldn’t be so lucky in many other establishments in the area.

There were 2 TripAdvisor certificates of excellence on the wall of this pub, and for good reason! Super friendly staff, good prices, lots of choice and the most genuine pub food. The homemade faggots were gorgeous and all the grub that came out was fab. Highly recommended

We found this pub/restaurant by chance. It is in one of the many little streets that make up the quaintness of Bath. The food is good and there is plenty of it. My lasagne came with little extras of a side salad and garlic bread. It was piping hot and very tasty. My husband had the burger with gorgeous crispy chips. As we enjoyed our meal so much, we returned the following evening to enjoy fish and chips and chicken tikka masala respectively. The staff are very friendly and the beer is good. The meals are not over priced as compared to some of the other restaurants in this city. We would certainly return next time we visit Bath.

This pub is one of those little gems hidden away masked by larger buildings either side.Have visited here about a year or so ago and the standard has not dropped. Great welcome by the lady in the bar made to feel welcome Both has the Fish and Chips what a meal the fish was half a whale with a batter to die for.nicely cooked chips,peas and a tartare sauce.Large portions vervfilling Price of meal and drinks very reasonable considering it is a city centre pub. Never been in here before, but had heard the food was good so thought we’d give it a try. Really friendly staff, perfectly good wine and excellent food. We had the pork and black pudding ( with mash and peas ) and a mixed grill. Both were cooked beautifully and were very tasty. Will definitely go again.

Popped in for a lunchtime drink. It was a rugby Saturday so within a short time the place became full. Nice pint of Guinness. Menu was very traditional pub grub and didn't disappoint. Friendly staff make you feel very welcome. Central location so a handy place to take a break from shopping!

Came here on a Bath Rugby day. It was very busy, but the service was great. Ordered some food for the 6 of us. The food was served very quickly and was really tasty. Excellent value as well.

I was on a city brake to Bath just for the day and poped in for a bite to eat . The landlady/manager was loud and rude it was a horrific experience. She was talking to her staff like they were worthless . Absolutely no people skills she reminded me of Sue Ellen from Dallas. I can't fault the food as it was absolutely delicious. If I had to work there then I would be sacked within a hour because I would have told Sue Ellen how it is . Be nice get nice things . Would not recommend this place while Sue Ellen has anything to do with it.

Sore feet and rumbling tums we entered the bar to be greeted enthusiastically which easily overcame the initial ‘wrong place’ thoughts. Hospitality tremendous and food great, tasty generous portions at reasonable prices. Exit two well fed happy ladies..

If you want a great pub for food or drink, you can try it. Helpful staff, kind and great food. Try the jacket potatoes. P. S. They have also vegetarian menu.

We are visiting bath at the moment, we looked up traditional pubs and it had good raiting the lady was nice and welcoming who served us on the bar. The food was awful paying £40 for two drinks and a meal that we both left, I wanted to complain but felt embarrassed as lady was nice, my pie had one piece of chicken it in. The mash was YELLOW pure YELLOW the taste was like smash we left full plates uneaten. Wouldn’t recommend total disappointment.

We went for the Christmas market and after an hour of walking round getting cold and rained on we found ourselves outside Sam Wellers. This is a small and very friendly pub, on entering we immediately received a warm welcome and were directed to an available table. The food is basic pub grub and just the ticket to warm us back up. Excellent service and good piping hot food. Would def. recommend and will def. go back.

We needed to eat after a hard days shop, fancied a pub where we could relax, tried this one, so friendly, the barman could not have been nicer, we felt relaxed and welcome! Another visit to Sam Wellers for lunch after a busy morning shopping and they didn't disappoint! We had a warm baguette with prawns in a rose-marie sauce with a portion of chips and a portion of onion rings to share, simply the best!!! Friday 30th Nov.went in for a quick drink found a table and went to the bar ordered a drink only to be be told that the tables were for food only.lived in bath for 30 years and have used this pub regularly. But won't be back again.Its ok to profiteer from the Xmas market but do remember you need customs in January and February.

Mi novio y yo fuimos en un autobús turístico a Bath. No amamos ser turistas y después de media tarde nos moríamos por escapar. Inmediatamente salimos corriendo de los restaurantes cercanos a los baños romanos, sabíamos que el grupo grande también iría y subió algunas calles donde se calmó significativamente. Sam Weller's nos llamó la atención y cuando entramos fue perfecto para nuestras necesidades, tranquilos con algunos lugareños y viajeros almorzando. Tenían una buena selección de cervezas que eran más únicas que muchas de las que vi en otros pubs. Teníamos el pescado y las patatas fritas y los camarones y patatas fritas y ambos eran realmente buenos. Los chips especialmente fueron super crujientes. El camarero / servidor fue muy agradable, incluso tomaron fotos para la familia que estaba al lado de nosotros mientras luchaban para que todos entraran solos. ¡Salimos increíblemente llenos y contentos!

Vino muy razonable a 20 por botella para un merlot californiano realmente agradable, simple pero efectivo. En total un gran hallazgo (y sorprendente, en tierra turística). ¡Muy recomendado!

We came across this pub by chance. The menu and pricing attracted us plus the look was welcoming. The food had good portions, excellent taste and well priced. Barman was friendly and obliging.

Great pub. Traditional food and drink. Local ales, lager, wine. Serving all day daily. I think a jug of pimms was around 15 pounds! Serving tea and coffee also. Cozy and a nice space for couples. They also host private events👍🏻

Visiting bath for the weekend and met a local who recommended Sam wellers for a Sunday roast... we were not disappointed! We thought the traditional English pub had died out and found this gem renewed faith that they live on.... menu was as a good pub should be, well cooked and delicious!! A great place to eat with family or friends - great selection of beers, wines and spirits and an impressive menu to meet all tastes. I had the lamb shank in minted gravy and the treacle sponge to follow washed down with some prosecco - delicious. Visit and enjoy

Turned away from this pub. Told they weren’t serving drinks, only food. It’s a pub. Confuses by this policy as it’s billed as a traditional pub serving food and drink.

Now I like an old fashioned pub , I like places that look like people go to enjoy a beer so this place looked great to me. I liked the look of the menu and the reasonable prices but I had no great expectations regarding the quality of the food.

It was a rainy and cold day in March and we were looking for a local pub to have something to eat. We got inside and felt really welcome by the decoration, the atmosphere and the people. We asked for a shepherd's pie and the Sunday roast beef, and both of them were great. And some local beer too.

We had a perfect evening with a large family group. The food was excellent and the beer was great! The staff could not have been more helpful. I recommend the fish and chips but others in my party said the faggots were tasty. I fully recommend this pub if you are looking for somewhere comfortable and friendly to eat and drink in Bath.

Been to Sam Wellers several times, usually once every time we visit Bath. It is a cozy pub and we feel at home when we go there. Any time we want traditional English pub food we head to Sam Wellers. My husband had the steak and ale pie and I had the fish and chips. The portion is very large, my fish was longer than the plate. The fish was nice and crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. Nice selection of ales as well.

My husband had read the reviews of this pub, so we went for lunch, I have to admit I was unsure from the outside and the first opinion inside, but the staff and food was great!!! We had steak baguettes and they were very filling.

I know it's in central Bath and that's why the prices are high and the customers have to pay extra because of the high rent , but £26+ for 2 very ordinary cottage pies chips and peas plus 1 pint is a bit strong . Maybe i am wrong , but prices are not that bad by the seaside where i live . Finding somewhere with normal everyday food as we prefer is not easy in Bath . It's all cake and coffee , pizzas , pastie shops etc . So we stopped looking and needed a rest and some food so we opted to pay over our normal amount just for a break . It wasn't even a very nice little pub really .So for a very ordinary cottage pie , some tasteless chips , although plenty of them , and a few peas i think £10.95 each is a bit strong . Not everyone will agree with me but that's how we feel ?

Ottima birra prodotta nella zona. Piatti abbondanti davvero con buone patate fritte come contorno. Fish & chips a 11 pound e un cottage pie pure quello a 11 pound. Gli steak costano intorno a alle 15 sterline. I dolci non li ho provati. Si ordina al banco. In pieno centro e trovate parcheggio poco distante dove c'è la chiesa. Consiglio

Stopped here after doing the skyline walk on which we worked up an appetite. This was a great place for the fish and chips we longed for. Smallish pub, lively and fun. We had the fish and chips and scampi and chips. Both were good portions, cooked well, and served hot. The servers were friendly, and folks seemed to enjoy themselves here.
