Sam Joseph Chocolates in Trafford

visited as part of Altrincham Market - scone and hot chocolate were both delicious, and very luxurious! order took a while as it was a busy Sunday, but certainly worth the wait

If you were thinking of treating yourself or someone else then I can’t recommend this place highly enough. They have something for everyone - my kids love their brownies and ice cream and I love to try their hand made chocolates. I think taking a trip to Sam Joseph is officially my new happy place :)

The variety of treats at this chocolate shop are mouthwatering. My children loved the home made ice cream and I loved the Millionaires Shortbread; my husband - ALL of the truffles! These are local producers who are very talented making everything by hand. You definitely need to visit.

We had another fantastic time at Sam Joseph Chocolates, the staff are always friendly and explain what is available on the menu if we are unsure of what the different types of chocolate are. We had the waffles and ice cream and they were very tasty. On the way out we bought a goody bag of truffles and brownies. I have also used this company many times before ordering chocolates through their website for my clients special occasions and have always found the service to be very efficient.

Having recently visited with my family I can honestly say there is some thing for everyone - deserts to share, goodies to take away, treats for the children & hot chocolates to die for. You won’t leave disappointed. Everything tastes as amazing as it looks. I would highly recommend for all ages of chocolate lovers.

My wife loves chocolates and is very picky. Sam suggested a selection of different chocolates for me to buy. Took them home and she loved them. Will definitely return when in the area for the milkshakes.

The chocolate box that we had was amazing the flavours were so delicious! There was so much variety and choice, I'll be back to try other items.

You go to a specialist chocolate place to get a chocolate milkshake, for £5, so you expect it to be pretty special. But it's not. It just tastes of the chocolate syrup used to make it, it's tiny, and honestly one from McDonald's is better. Absolutely incongruous with the appearance of the place, it was such a let down. Total waste of money. I don't even know what the actual chocolates are like but I'm not going to be trying them in case they're anywhere near as disappointing as the milkshake.

I have been going here ever since the market opened and always enjoyed the sweet treats that Sam Joseph have on offer. Tonight I was served by the most rude, passive aggressive and downright disgraceful member of staff that I’ve ever met. He was contradictory, didn’t answer questions in a polite way and in the end I decided that I’d find a better dessert in the local co-op. Will never return.

I regularly visit Sam Joseph for a little treat, either just for me or with my kids. The quality of their chocolates and desserts are second to none. They have something for everyone; my kids love their ice creams and brownies whilst I like to try all the delicious and unusual chocolates they create. Fabulous! Highly recommend

Love the desserts from here! Love that they always come up with new things and different flavours!! Who knew rosemary and olive oil chocolate would taste so nice. The chocolate bars they make are so delicious.. would definitely go again and again!

Absolutely love everything Sam Joseph’s have to offer, there’s something a bit special about beautifully hand made delicious chocolates. From the chocolate covered honeycomb & truffles (my favourite) to the salted fudge bars there is something for everyone including amazing hot chocolate. No visit to Alty Market is complete without some SJC goodies. Would highly recommend either to treat yourself or as a gift, who doesn’t love great quality chocolates!

I ordered a milkshake from here earlier today. When it came, it was so thick and warm, I couldn’t drink it through the straw. It just tasted like warm, melted ice cream in a cup, which is obviously not what a milkshake should be. It was so unpleasant that after one spoonful, I decided to take it back. I politely told Sam Joseph (who was the only member of staff behind the counter), that the consistency was too thick. I would have been totally happy if he’d have added some cold milk to it and wizzed it up again, but the reaction I got was so hostile. He was very aggressive and refused to acknowledge my feedback. He just kept telling me that I was wrong. He then tried to shame me by telling me that ‘everyone’ loves his milkshakes and repeatedly called me ‘WEIRD’ for thinking otherwise. I told him that, to me, it wasn’t a milkshake, it was really just warm ice cream in cup. After realising his bullying behaviour would not work on me, he eventually refunded me and threw the receipt at me. He also threw the glass with the milkshake in it, straight into the bin to further convey his vile attitude towards me. It was so over the top and absurd, like something out of a comedy sketch. I was stood trying to convince this man that there should be milk in a milkshake, as well as some ice-cream. It may be that he was just having a really REALLY bad day - we all have them! And I personally know just how stressful running a small business is, but customer relations is the backbone of your company. I’m sure that on reflection, he would probably agree that he didn’t handle this in the best way and learn from it. Finally, on a human level, if you can’t AT LEAST be polite to a person who is CLEARLY undergoing cancer treatment, then something has gone terribly wrong; probably something a lot more important than chocolate and milkshakes.

We visited this chocolatier on a recommendation. We weren't disappointed. The salted caramel profiteroles and the praline chcolates were excellent. (Unfortunately the eclairs were sold out.)

Tried this place for the first time yesterday within the market. The chocolate and treats looked amazing and did taste great. However, I do feel for the portion sizes it's a little pricey. Nice as a treat but not somewhere I could afford to buy from regularly.

I emailed several places about chocolate dipped strawberries. The director of Sam Joseph chocolates said that they could do a special order for me. They were ready on the date I asked for. And they tasted absolutely fantastic.

We visit Altrincham market most Saturday's as we love the atmosphere and food. No visit is complete without a nice coffee and a delicious truffle from Da. Joseph...they have now started to make tarts and brownies...bezt chocolate I have ever had and beats a very well known up market chocolate brand......!!!

Thank you so much for the fantastic chocolate workshop we came to yesterday, we had a brilliant time. You clearly have a passion for everything chocolate and enjoy sharing your knowledge. The class was fun, enjoyable and informative, pitched at just the right level. We have come away with chocolates we are proud of and a great family memory of a fun experience. Visited today and I don't know if it's always been like this - when you order a hot chocolate you will be advise that it will take 3 mins. No warning that you have to also come to collect it. When you wait and realised it's been a while with no chocolate- you go back to only find out lady on her phone(looking bored) and the hot chocolate in the mug(ready for a while)on the back counter with explanation such as - "we don't do table service,i told the lady it takes 3mins but she never came back for it". ..... Considering how "busy" the lady behind the counter was checking her phone... - I cannot believe she would charge (not that cheap) for something she cannot even deliver and yet be rude and unprofessional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like dark chocolate. I adore marzipan. My tastes stretch to the darkest of the dark. The variety of hot drinking chocolate is a chocoholic dream. On my last four visits I have drunk ' Ecuador' extra hot. A sublime drink. On each occasion with a bag of marzipan treats. A combo not for the squeamish. Too many calories but for the hedonist a wonderful treat in the unique Altrincham Market Hall. Sam Josephs is a really special pleasure to be savoured.

The brownies are amazing i had one warmed up with ice cream, We also bought some chocolates to take home the salted caramel ones were my favorite defineltely worth the visit for any chocoholic. Only problem was everything was a little pricey but still worth it
