We stumbled across this place whilst travelling and stopped for lunch. The service was fantastic, very welcoming and friendly. The food was really top quality for lunch, one of the best prawn sandwiches and homemade chips I have ever had! The only thing that drops this to a 4 is the lack of baby changing facilities, which could be looked at. If we passed again, we would definitely stop for food and drink

Myself and 5 friends once a month select a pub within North East Lincolnshire to visit for Sunday Lunch and this week was the turn of The Salutation Inn. Upon arrival was greeted in a very friendly manner and shown out table. Drinks were ordered promptly followed by the food. 5 Sunday roasts. What can I say,,, the food was totally delicious. Everything on the plate was spot on. We ate quietly,,,always a good sign. Desserts quickly followed and they were mouth wateringly banging. We all agreed afterwards that of all the places visited over the last 2 years this was number 1 for food service and value. We will definitely be back again in the future. Thanks

But as a 1. Off. It’s a lovely place especially for walkers. To gather there feet so to speak. I can honestly say I will go back even if it’s for the banter. Cheers jo. See you soon.

We visited the Sali Inn for the first time today. The first impression was from Stu ( hope we got his name correct?) he was so friendly and approachable we knew we would be a place of sound hospitality. His experience in hospitality shone through. We were attended and served by him attentively and nothing was too much trouble. We try to a avoid hospitality venues if we have to ask for everything to go with meals or drinks like condiments; sauces etc everything was sorted out; food arrived with sauces for the steaks; tartare sauce for the scampi etc. The food was freshly cooked delicious and served up in a timely manner. The Inn is to be going through an interior refurbishment very soon and we will be coming over when the refreshment is completed. Well done all of you! Behind the scenes and in front of house!

We went to the Salutation Inn for a four night break in the lovely hot July. The snug was exceptional. Absolutely amazing. Immaculately clean well set out and lovely decor and spacious. So nice to sit on the decking with a drink and watch the world go by and the comings and goings of this lovely country pub with all of the lovely friendly people about. The pub itself is a lovely little friendly country pub where you are all made to feel so welcome it was lovely. Anything you want in the pub or whilst staying in the snug the staff who are all so friendly go above and beyond to accommodate. The staff including manager Stu and owner Jo are so nice and treat everyone who visits as friends and makes you so welcome. Whilst we stayed we ate in the pub every night but unfortunately did not get to try everything we wanted to as we weren’t there long enough to do so. We certainly tried the Sunday Lunch before we left and I’ve honestly never had a pub roast like it. With all food home made we enjoyed every meal that we had. In all im so glad that we chose this place to stay as we had such a lovely time and visited some beautiful places during the day. We have booked for family to go and visit as we were so impressed and we will most certainly be returning ourselves again for another stay. Great atmosphere and great work put in by all staff to make everyone welcome. Loved it. Thanks to everyone and see you hopefully next summer. Jan and Darryl Everson

This was our first visit to the Salutation Inn for about 20 years. The interior had changed and been updated. We were warmly welcomed by the lady behind the bar who enjoyed several jokes with us.The place had just opened and was empty at 12 noon and we had the choice of several round tables.Drinks were quickly served and our orders taken by the same lady. Our food arived piping hot. There was ample of it. My son had a steak, my wife enjoyed Lincolnshire sausages while I tucked into liver, bacon, and onions served with mash and plenty of assorted vegetables. We all enjoyed our meals, but felt too full to indulge in the interesting list of desserts.Overall a very good experience and we won't wait another 20 years before returning.

Never been so ☹️ disappointed, booked Christmas dinner with family 3 adults and 6 children. On arrival we were seated in the bar area on 3 bar tables. High traffic from regulars festively attending the pub, near the pool table! We paid for 6 adults and received 4 soups and a platter to share between 9 of us for starter.I asked for a refund at this point. To be asked to come back to my table because it was Christmas and to give them a second chance! After staff were discourteous on serving the starter I then left to return home. We paid £57 per head for 6 adults and then received child portions The owner said they would pack our meals up, so we could eat in comfort at home! Our food was revolting! We received no apology and was blamed for the poor quality service the rest of the guests received that day. A difficult family we were referred to as to guests and regulars! We’ve been referred to as moaners! Idiots! And told we were more suited for McDonald’s! Aswell as being a scrounger just wanting a free meal! Not the service you expect from choosing to support your local pub Never again! It’s unacceptable, staff tried to get rid off us without returning our money!

I was looking forward to visiting the Salutation Inn for lunch after a circular walk from Nettleton because I liked the name when we'd passed it before & it had good reviews on Trip Advisor. I was not disappointed, it was very welcoming & we had a great lunch. Two of the walking group were devastated to hear they had missed the last steak pies but one of our party had ordered the last one & said it was so good he would visit again just to have another. The festive menu was on display & looked great. It is well kept with good food but not pretentious & has a welcoming & informal atmosphere. Children are well catered for with a children's menu, high chair, changing mat & even kiddy toilet seat. I contacted them by phone a number of times as our original date got snowed off. Whichever member of staff answered the phone they were always friendly & very helpful. They were very accommodating of our ballpark prediction of when we might arrive & left it up to us whether we wanted to order in advance or not. They have some new wooden chalets in the outdoor area as they offer accommodation as well as being a pub. These looked a great option for anyone wanting to stay.

Really wish they would get hold of this pub and make it into what it truly could be. The food is great and the service cheerful. But the decor is tired and the bar is so antiquated that it comes straight out of the 80s. Poor choice of lagers and anything that isn't bitter. Just add a lick of paint, change the carpet and the tables. Put on a few more gins and a wider range of bottled lagers and you would have a new star and people would flock here.

Wanted to eat at the coach and horses but when we got there we realised it was closed so we decided to try the salutation inn as I've drove past it loads of times. From the outside it looks really nice but upon entering the inside looks a little shabby. The lovely bar maid handed us a menu and told us to take a seat. Looking through the menu I made a comment to my friend that there was too much choice for such a small place.... this rung alarm bells for me. Our starter arrived, chicken balls with sweet chilli dip and potatoes skins with mushrooms. My partner said the potato skins were poor, but the chicken balls were the driest thing I've ever eaten !! It's like they'd either been cooked weeks ago or defrosted in a microwave before cooking. They seriously would have shattered if I dropped them. The cucumber was also dry like it had been pre cut and left for hours in a pot. How hard is it to freshly cut cucumber to order, cutting off the dry end ? For main me and my friend had pie and my Mrs had steak. The pie was so stale, again like it had been sat on the side for weeks, you could see the stale side where it was last cut. The steak was like it was cooked day's ago and warmed up in a microwave. The menu said all the meat was from petits. Really ? How could you mess such beautiful meat up from such a good butchers ? Freshly cooked steak isn't that dry ?! The onion rings tasted like rancid oil. We all was starving when we walked in, and would have had three courses but sadly I'm surprised we didn't walk out after the starters. I really can't believe all the good reviews on ta ? I did complain, and the lovely bar lady knocked a lot off the bill. I felt really bad complaining as she was so lovely. I'm sorry but I'll never eat here again, it truly was the worst meal I've ever had. My best advise would be to simplify your menu. You have such a small restaurant/bar. There's no need to cover every taste, you could have less on your menu but cook everything to order. A few amazing dishes is far better than lots of dry rancid rubbish. I wish you the best in the future but you must change if you want to carry on.

I have to confess this is a pub that I have passed many times on the A46 between Grimsby and Lincoln and it wasn't our first choice for food this afternoon . However, we established first of all that they were serving food well after two o'clock and after receiving a very warm welcome, ordered from a very impressive selection of dishes on the men and at reasonable prices too .We were a little sceptical that it would deliver as promised but after a slightly longer than normal wait, ( No problem there ) the food arrived. Both starters and main courses were excellent. Special mention to the steak and ale pie and home made chips which were a revelation....! The starters were excellent too.Light fresh and tasty but not too heavy A huge pat on the back is richly deserved for the staff who were very attentive. Especially Stephanie who was lovely and very conscientious. Other pubs take note. We eat out a lot and unfortunately there is some really pallid fayre out there but the Salutation..for us at least provides the benchmark for the standard which others should aspire too. Credit where it is due, ...you deserve every success and we look forward to seeing you again very soon. Regards. Steve and Bev

Delightful modern wooden lodges in the garden of this otherwise rather run down pub. Staff very willing, helpful and attentive, especially the young man who was doubling as barman and waiter. We waited an inordinately long time for the food which was basic and was a rather pale version of what the menu promised. Also, the chef clearly only does two vegetables, chips and peas. We were also not very happy to find we had to make our own breakfast in our lodge using a pot of instant porridge to which we had to add boiling water. It was not even continental! Conclusion, excellent rooms but eat elsewhere!

My family had an impromptu lunch after rejecting the offer of an hour and a half wait at our booked restaurant . We were welcomed at the Sali with warm honest, attentive and friendly staff. The food took a little time to arrive, but the staff kept us informed, ensured we had drinks and explained the food is cooked fresh. We all enjoyed lovely food, good quality ingredients, lashings of home cooked pride and lovely well kept real ale.Thank you Sali for helping us have a memorable lunch x

Called in several times whilst staying in holiday cottage just up the road. Always a warm welcome for us and our golden retriever. Beers seemed to change regularly so good choice of different ales. Very friendly staff and no problem for dog in bar area.

Was looking forward to this, but when it came - well... 2 slices of bacon - really cold, hard and dry. chicken bits - not cooked! Potato salad, bland, unable to get fork in some chunks, coleslaw in a runny mayo. Salad containing iceberg lettuce, onion, grapes, apple slices (which i thought was part of Waldorf salad !)If you are offering a Caesar Salad, go find a receipe for one, no fruit, but croutons, parmesan cheese. Will never go to this place again. I was offered an apology and an alternative, but after that, I definately do not trust the cooking.

A lovely friendly pub, great food clean and tidy. Not decorated to my taste a bit like sitting in someone's living room, but that is what being in a pub should be like so I can't complain, it was also really clean and tidy.I am looking forward to returning in the winter when the fires are lit for some more of those fantastic home cooked chips!!Well done a lovely little pub, with great food!!

On a caravaning break we passed this pub and decided to stop for lunch, as we had our border collie with us we went to ask if we could eat outside, The barmaid Stephanie told us we could bring him in and sit a part with wooden floor and not in the restaurant part, which was fine by us. We ordered the10oz gammon. When our meals came out it was enormous real home made chips, garden peas, mushrooms (real tasty ones) and deep fried onion rings along with the 10 oz gammon, it was all cooked fresh and was hot.We met the owner who was very nice as was Stephanie and the gentleman that was drinking his pint and had a chat with us.

We stayed for 1 night while on a cycling holiday. The cabin was lovely and warm despite the snow that was falling. There was plenty of space to hand up our wet kit to dry. There was a garage available to lock up the bikes overnight. The food in the pub was very reasonably priced and the puddings were excellent.

The food was ok nice steak pie sausage and mash fine a sunday roast was a little on small side portion wise, would have been more generous and cheaper at a carvery.

Having lived in the area for 8 years we couldn't believe that we had not given this little gem a visit. It's been nicely decorated and has two fireplaces at opposite ends of the dining area, one eco the other, normal. We had a drink at a table nr one of the fireplaces until the couple it was reserved for turned up. Then, we were shown our table. The menu choices were good, both for the carnivorous as well as the vegetarian, but, be prepared for a very long wait! The wait of about one hour for the main course was a bit too much. The waitress was apologetic. According to other reviews this is to be expected. The meal though was worth the wait. We ordered the pate for starters and shared it with my husband. There was enough for two people but the amount of bread to eat it was a bit small. We had to ask for more to enable us to mop up the rest. Chicken Kiev and Chicken Balti were delicious and I think the chips with the Kiev were double baked. Yummy! Good wine available and Salty Pig crisps. We would go back. Very comfortable.

We did not actually eat at this pub but stayed for four nights for a fmily gathering weekend in the splendid accommodation that they have in the garden. We were with locals that had eaten there and the general opinion from them is that the qality of the food is as good as we found the accomodation. We were warmly welcomed by Jo the landlady and shown into the room which looked just how we would wish. The bed is very very comfortable as it is large. We did use the pub for drinks and was made to feel welcome by the staff and locals alike. We have promised Jo that when we return to visit family again we will not only stay there but get everyone together for a meal at the Sali. What we can be assured of is an excellnt night's sleep and if reccmmendation is anything to go by we will also have a great meal.

We've eaten at "the Sally" many times. Usually a good varied menu. Staff very good and impress me by remembering our preferences. We usually go on a Sunday and I'm not much of a fan of the traditional Sunday roast but they always have plenty of alternative choices - which many places don't. Their prices are quite reasonable. I am happy to recommend "the Sally" as a good place to eat. I would have given five stars, but sometimes the service is a little slower than I would like.

We visited on a busy night and had to wait a while for our meal, despite this the bar staff were friendly and apologetic. The food was plain pub grub, nothing exceptional, and prices reflected this. We visited on an evening, but as it is situated in a good walking area would certainly stop in for a bite and a pint after a day in the Wolds.

My husband and i have been to the Salutation in a few times now on recommendationfrom our son.Staff are always very friendly and helpful. the food has been great untilour visit on early Saturday evening. My Lasange meal was lovely and my husband hadthe Steak Pie which was good but the thick pastry at the bottom was undercooked which spoilt it.We did tell the waitress and she said she would tell the cook but we had no comeback. Will be going again but will not be ordering the pie.

In the past month we have visited for the Sunday roast and both times we have thoroughly enjoyed it. Portions are good and the quality of the meat and vegetables is to be acknowledged. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive without being overly so. The landlady is a very personable hostess with a word for one and all. When we retire to this area many more trips are envisaged to try out the varied menu. Also a lovely pint of Black Sheep at the bar

A Saturday lunchtime family meal for six adults and a two and a half year old. The table I had booked was ready for us with high chair. Staff very friendly and helpful. The child was a bit grumpy some of the time and the staff were marvellous with her, bringing out bricks to play with and putting up the fire guard as she was fascinated with the lovely open fire. The food was good pub fayre. The only thing that has marked this down was a full child's meal charge of £5.95 for one slice of beans on toast, which, I think, was a bit steep. This menu was for children up to 12 years.

Tried the salutation on a recent Sunday afternoon for a family dinner, the menu was varied and all dishes sounded appealing. Unfortunately for us, the chef was just starting her "one and a half hour" break, and only a very basic menu was on offer until she returned. Since it was a little late (around 5pm) to go elsewhere we decided to order anyway and the food was okay - no more, no less. We may return on a future occasion, but we won't be making a special effort.

We went to this Inn for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago and the food was brilliant. I had Lamb Shank it was delicious with fresh veg and potatoes. We popped again today for lunch and were not disappointed I had Scampi with peas Home made chips and I think home made tartar sauce. The staff are lovely and we will be visiting again.

After a long day at Cadwell Park, we were looking for somewhere to eat. We came across the Salutation Inn on the A46, so called in. Good choice of ales, and typical pub meals-e.g. scampi, fish, curry - just what we were looking for. It was not busy this particular Sunday evening but it was raining heavily. Lovely warm welcome from the staff as we dashed in out of the rain. The food was quickly served, lovely and hot. The scampi was delicious and the chips looked homemade.Because of its location, I am sure the Salutation gets very busy. It looks well cared-for on the outside and welcoming inside so we would certainly visit again when we are next in the area
