The building and interiors are beautiful, with great service and good vibes. Scotch egg was a little overpriced, although pretty tasty.

I ask for an Irish coffee at a whopping 11 pounds and the waiter forgot to put the alcohol. I had to remind them and the coffee was cold. I asked for the mackerel pate and this was pre prepared and the chorizo and humus portion was tiny. For the price you pay you expect fresh food and better portions and if the waiter made a mistake they shouldn't have charged as he forgot the alcohol and the coffee was cold. I found that what it used to be a great place is now more worried about money than quality. The place was full but then people pay anything

Wonderful place and delicious food

Genuinely unbelievable restaurant! This place is an absolute gem and tucked away almost to the point of obscurity. We came to deliver some training in Plymouth and after a late finish we made our way out looking for sustenance. A little green door on the side of the road beckoned and we entered with some misplaced trepidation. Deceptively large on the inside we were welcomed by a waitress named Maggie who asked if we had a table booked. Answering "no", Maggie informed us that there was no tables available due to a shortage of staff that evening. We made a reservation for the following evening but then we're approached by Alfie, the owners son, whom asked what we were looking for food wise. We explained that after a six hour drive and an hour of setting up the training room at the hotel, we would gladly take anything. Graciously, he took pity on us and said we could take a table and they would make the effort to accommodate. Wise choice, as we were soon to discover. Never have we visited a place for the first time and been made so welcome, even in our home town restaurants. The atmosphere was so relaxing, the staff were absolutely fantastic, helpful and caring. The food that we ordered was cooked to perfection and the dessert was purely scintillating. I literally cannot recommend this place highly enough and I can genuinely say that when we leave here on Sunday morning (after having spent three of our five evenings at the restaurant), we are absolutely going to miss the staff, the food and the atmosphere here. Should you ever be visiting Plymouth, please do not miss out on this warm, welcoming, culinary delight that is in a class of its own. Salumi restaurant is a shining beacon in the restaurant industry of how to treat customers and the standard and quality of food you should be serving. Absolute congratulations and a massive well done to Alfie, Maggie and the rest of the team for making Salumi's such a welcoming and authentic delight. Great job guys, we will be back whenever we are in Plymouth.

I went to the restaurant and a young man was very rude, and extremely disappointing service. I asked for the young man’s name and he answered with Olly. So if this was his real name I expect not to see him again.

I had the chance to eat twice during my stay in Plymouth. And I can only recommend Salumi. The staff is nice and attentive. The decoration is quirky and fun and the food is amazing. The Sunday roast is a joy: food quality, presentation and taste. One of the best I have ever tried. For Sunday roast I highly recommend booking in advance as the place can be packed. The only downside to highlight is the price of the drinks. I reckon it is slightly pricey.

We ate really well. We had lots of small dishes, all of them were perfect, some really surprised us. The only criticism is that the drinks took a very long time.

Had a really lovely roast here today, the food was perfect, great portions and easy to get a table. The staff were all so lovely - really friendly and accommodating. Glad to have found a great option in Plymouth for a spontaneous Sunday roast. Dessert was also a delicious cheesecake which we ate too quickly for a photo.

A hidden gem. The Sunday roasts were outstanding, possibly the best we have ever had, the staff were excellent, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. And dog-friendly. Cannot recommend The Salumi Bar too highly.

Popped in for Sunday dinner after reading the reviews and wasn't disappointed. The food was great, the service was spot on and the atmosphere was really relaxing. I particularly liked how it's sectioned off into several smaller areas, keeping things quite intimate. I went at lunchtime, but plan to go back one evening as it looks like the lighting will make things really subdued and relaxing. All in all, a great little find! **Edit** - a few years later and it's still great food and still great service! **Edit** - Yet another visit and it still doesn't fail to impress. This is one of my most favourite places to eat.

Highly recommend, Absolutely amazing food!! We had the roasts, the lamb just melted in your mouth, best roast around for sure. 1 of our party is vegetarian & always feels she has to make do eating out but here she couldn’t give it enough praise!! Such a cute setup inside with different areas that made it feel more intimate for a good catchup. Staff & serves was spot on, even their uniform made it feel high end Well done Salumi

Excellent as always, the menu is small, however, it ensures that the quality of the food is excellent. Staff friendly as always.

Food was great but waited 50 mins for our starters. Apologised and said would refund starters but we had to remind them when the bill came. We appreciate you had a large party in but we were 2 people. Every customer should feel they’re the only ones there.

Wow wow wow! I think I have found the best Sunday roast ever! Went for Mother’s Day Sunday roast I have the rump beef with all the trimmings, others in my group also had the pork. I can fault anything, food delicious and presented lovely, staff were friendly and attentive.

This is a hidden gem , the food is always amazing Sunday roast stunning … location opposite the pavilions and moxy hotel , short walk from the city centre and Plymouth Hoe , I would recommend booking as they are usually closed between 3-5 not sure if that’s the case on the summer could be open all day , the beer is great and the team are friendly … top drawer , tip top tips !

Went in today for Mother's Day..couldn't fault anything. Food was exquisite, great, friendly service.. outstanding!!!

Salumi is simply the best in every aspect. My partner and I come here all the time and they have been consistently perfect every single time. Every single bit of our food has made us say ‘oh my god’ no matter what we’ve ordered. The attention to detail of what is put on our plates does not go unnoticed in terms of flavour. Furthermore, the staff are always incredible and never make you feel like an inconvenience - even when very busy (surprisingly hard to come by nowadays). Jamie has always been brilliant. His energy when being served by him always fills us with joy and confidence that we know we’ll be looked after. Alfie also shares the same qualities when we’ve been served by him. The venue is also quaint and relaxing with a beautiful garden which I can’t wait to relax in when the sun is out. I truly couldn’t speak more highly of Salumi if I wanted to. I would pay twice the amount they charge for their unbelievable dishes and still visit just as much. Keep being amazing

Such good food, all fresh and piping hot! The staff are so kind and really funny - quality pub vibes and overall great experience! Gorgeous beer garden with blankets and heater, added shade! If you’re in Plymouth don’t miss out on this spot, it’s fabulous! 💕

An amazing venue, with really friendly staff and some of the best service I’ve experienced in the south west. The draught lager on tap are great choices, the food is to die for, and salumi has made our trip! Fully recommended and 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was our second visit to salumi after the first visit made it a must come back and the second time was even better. The food is superb and served by lovely and helpful servers

Feedback is important. First time to visit this place as I hear that Sunday roasts are excellent (yet to try this). Sorry to report that we were disappointed. Dishes were small and overpriced. The Katsu Aubergine was small (vegetarians are hungry as well you know). The garlic nan with the curry was thin, dry and chewy, dressed with a sickly bottled garlic sauce that really doesn't work. The burger was ok, but pulled pork spoilt it - however the chips were excellent. The restaurant was cold, we spent the evening in our coats. Sorry to report that we will not be visiting again.

Not great tonight which was disappointing and did not live up to numerous previous visits. Fish and chips really poor- battter flat and fish did not taste fresh. Shame, as hoped for a nice family meal but as it turned out couldn’t wait to pay and get out. The manager did apologise and give 10% discount but this did not really make up for the let down. On other visits the food has been excellent so perhaps just an off night.

Friends booked for supper and it was one of the best meals we have eaten out in a long time!!! We shared a board to start followed by a mix of mains and every dish was excellent! Service was attentive but not in your face and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this pub for foodies like ourselves!

Fantastic food with excellent service.

Our first visit to Salumi, having had so many recomendations to go. The best meal we have had in a long time, you could taste ever flavour in the food. Beautifully presented, amazing space and the staff were so lovely. We were blown away and even more so by an unexpected birthday surpise. Cant wait to come back for a roast. Thank you exactly how dinning out should be.

Food was delicious! Table for 7 and the service was great! Nothing was delayed all the food was fantastic and the drinks offerings were also great! Lovely atmosphere and can't wait to come back in the new year!

My first time eating here for our Christmas meal and it was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was amazing and the decor stunning. Service was on point and very attentive. Food was incredible and well seasoned. Would highly recommend 👌🏻

This place have fresh food by saying this I mean fresh the owner have farm and the beef and chicken some of the ingredients are 100% British made farm yes it is bit expensive but evry peni is worth for this delicios experience they have garden and grill outside and the takes are extremely well cooking and they are so jucy the cervise is outstanding friendly environment good for family and couple or single the desert menu is not frozen ice cream from shop its gorgeous difrent cakes lots of difrent desert include fresh I cream this is thanks to great team work so hard they have Bakery its worth visiting spring and summer the drink is normal but they also have own beer which is amazing they doumany difrent insaly made beautiful and taste coctails this place recive many award and deserve all of these success

Without a doubt the best roast I’ve ever eaten. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection, a true flavour bomb! The cheesecake and homemade Christmas pudding ice cream was unbelievable. I can’t wait to return, 11/10!

Came here after a great experience last time, whilst the menu was definitely different this time the food was still very good The staff are friendly and welcoming the menu has something for everyone although none of the tapas / small plate dishes of last time which was a shame The Blade of Beef was very tasty and very rich, the steak also very tasty although for me a tad fatty, even for a rump would still recommend / come again

Have been for breakfast/brunch before and had a positive experience. However visited again for brunch and found the breakfast has suffered shrinkflation!!! Price had gone up and ingredients seem to have suffered somewhat, streaky bacon, used to be back, less beans, small slices of toast, tiny eggs and a couple of cherry tomatoes! IMO not worth £14. Asked for extra toast got 1 tiny slice for an additional £1.50. Disappointing experience unfortunately.

Had an amazing meal with my family for my retirement. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We all had different meals and we all loved all of it. We are talking about our next visit as we have 4 Birthdays between us in the next few weeks . Well done to the chefs and staff .

Absolutely fabulous in every way. Totally safe for Gluten Free/ Coeliac and they even serve non alcoholic lager on draft. We'll absolutely be back.

What an amazing place! I'm a coeliac diner and to be given such a wide menu was phenomenal. They serve draft non alcoholic lager, have a superb wine list & all their Ice cream is homemade so there's absolutely no risk of wheat/ gluten being snuck in as a thickener which unfortunately so many places are doing. We loved the presentation as well; the picture here is of my gluten free fish, chips, curry sauce, minty peas, all the elements served in separate dishes making it feel like a real banquet. There's no doubt we'll be back.

Visited here for first time today for a Sunday lunch . The food was great apart from the broccoli was too hard but that's personal preference. The service was awful, we waited 15 mins then then I had to go to the bar to ask about 8 staff that were stood chatting that I wanted to order drinks ... the food was ordered and the staff were very confused when I started asking about colieac, surly that's part of their training! Of course everything is checked with chef but they need an understanding, so that was quite worrying. At the end the girl cleared our table and I said can I have bill? 20 mins I had enough of waiting and went to bar to pay myself. I get if its busy but this was 12oclock and alot of staff not busy so they have the time to be attentive to customers . Wouldn't make me rush back

Great Sunday Roast, great service and great location. We can absolutely recommend it! It's best to reserve in advance, especially on Sunday, we barely managed to get a spot.

Lovely place to eat, excellent meal. The inside is like a tardis! Plenty of seating. You can park next door though you have to pay using an app. We paid £40 a head for main & dessert, with a couple of glasses of wine.

We went in drinks, good selection of different beers and cider.

Staff were very kind and nothing was too much bother. The food was absolutely beautiful. Very fresh ingredients and the cocktails were lovely.

Great food, good service - what more could you want and fish and chips with smashed mint peas as well as a curry sauce and homemade tartar sauce... Really awesome. WhiskeyEgg as a starter is also great!

Basically the best restaurant in Plymouth. Food is exceptional, and they always cater for allergies where possible (including dairy-free, vegan, etc). The place is a little expensive but absolutely worth it for a treat. Really good music on a Saturday All staff, including the new general manager are friendly and helpful.

Hands down the best gastro-pub i’ve ever been to. I’m a Spaniard, and had the best gazpacho i’ve ever eaten at Salumi. Highly recommend!

Traditional Sunday lunch was superb. Great pork, cabbage with peas, and carrot with swede. The Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were also well received. Would have preferred to sit in a room with direct light, which affects the Atmosphere score. Overall, though, well worth going for a meal

A very good Sunday roast after craving one abroad. Impressed with the vegetarian and vegan selection. The mushroom and cheese roast was exceptional, I’d highly recommend. The selection of vegetables was good and they weren’t overcooked (hurrah!), good gravy and big Yorkshires. Only critique was that the service was very slow. Would return!

What a welcome back into England. We had such a lovely dinner.. our waitress Gabi was funny and very efficient and v nice to our tired children . a great atmosphere.. definitely recommend for a stop before the ferry or just a night out. Scotch eggs were amazing. Thank you!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic restaurant where I enjoyed the classic English Sunday roast. Went for meal boyfriend had steak 30 pounds was tough had to ask for steak knife. I had fish and chips no fish all batter. We where disappointed got refund of 1.65 for fish. We had bottle of wine , meal was 70 pounds. Far to much meal we stick to weatherspoons in future. We had been for drinks before we dont live in Plymouth

We went with our 3 year old for lunch. Burger and chips were great, salmon bagel had lots of salmon and the childs meal was lovely but too much for our 3 year old. The service was good and the atmosphere was welcoming. We would go again when in the area.

It is a lovely ambience and staff are really nice, the food is okay but for my personal taste it wasn't very appealing. The soup was really nice but the bao and small plates were quite different to my expectations.

Steak night was a revelation! (for me at least) Popped in on the off-chance, and had a most flavoursome rump!

Partner booked for a Sunday Roast. Arrived to find our table was “cancelled” yet had no communication from the venue and we had not cancelled, got seated on the low drinks tables at the bar. Finally moved to the outside tables after making it clear we were not able to eat at the table we were seated at. Service was poor, took ages for someone to wipe the table and eventually ask us for our drinks - was told water would be brought out, again another 15 minute wait for this. Waited 45 minutes for our roast to arrive cold, potatoes were burnt and disgusting. Very disappointing experience.
