We had a group of 10 that grew to 12 and ordered almost every dish on the menu. All were expertly prepared and delicious. Dimo, our waiter, was very helpful in accommodating our interests and dietary needs, and the service was flawless.

We’d love to know if the Michelin inspector who recommended Salt Yard actually dined at the same restaurant we visited because, frankly, we’re struggling to understand how this experience was deserving of any accolades. A ROCKY START: THE WRONG MENU The experience began on shaky ground. We were handed a menu upon being seated, only to be informed after ordering that it was the wrong one. It was taken away and replaced with another menu, in which the wine pairing included in the tasting menu of the first was notably absent. THE TASTING MENU: A BROKEN PROMISE We specifically chose Salt Yard for its tasting menu and made our booking with this in mind. Sadly, it wasn’t available, as several of the listed dishes had run out. No comment. When we asked if the kitchen could offer an alternative tasting experience, the waiter insisted that we pick dishes ourselves from the à la carte menu. Isn’t the whole point of a tasting menu to be guided through a curated selection? Where was the professionalism one might expect from a Michelin recommendation? HURRIED AND INTRUSIVE SERVICE The service was rushed from the start. The restaurant closed at 10:00 pm, yet our online booking was accepted at 8:45 pm. Why accept late reservations if there isn’t enough time to provide a relaxed dining experience? It felt more like we were in a high-end fast food outlet: dishes were introduced at lightning speed, with the waiter’s finger hovering uncomfortably close to the food as they were described, and the table was cleared in less than an hour. The unspoken message was clear: "Eat quickly and leave." It also begs the question: who hired the staff? With all due respect, our waiter lacked the professionalism one expects in a Michelin-recommended establishment. THE FOOD: HIGHS AND LOWS There were some bright spots. A few dishes had a pleasant balance of flavours, and the ingredient combinations were well-considered. However, don’t expect anything groundbreaking — the creativity felt fairly standard. Then came the fillet of lamb: tough, chewy, and entirely unfit to be served. We mentioned it to the waiter, but no effort was made to remedy the situation. THE WINE We ordered a 500ml carafe of Malbec blend priced at £35. Was it worth it? I’ll let you decide. When the waiter poured it, some of the wine spilled onto the table. Instead of cleaning it up, they simply placed a plate over the spill... CONCLUSION: AN EXPERIENCE BEST FORGOTTEN We came with high expectations and left with this review. Enough said.

A total rip off! Admittedly, this is a tapas bar so to be expected but the quantities served barely amount to £15 on the £75 menu, The presentation was certainly not refined to reflect the price, As for the desserts, nothing was fresh to the point that someone in our party even spat out the cheese cake, Just looking at the menu I did expect it to be disappointing and it lived to its expectations.

Disappointing presentation and lacking friendly staff. For the price of these dishes you would expect good presentation and value for money. This however was not the case. Bland flavours and weird combinations made the whole experience feel confused. The staff were unfriendly and lacking in service and smiles throughout. I don’t think this restaurant chain is suited to london it falls flat in many promises. London has many high end tapas restaurants and this isn’t one of them. It’s nice to be treated warmly at a place your paying to eat and we were not here. Even thanks when you leave might help show your customers you care.

The Salt Yard has had great reviews both here and from friends. Unfortunately the experience does not live up to the hype. The food is over ambitious from a chef who does not have the skills to execute it. Some dishes over seasoned, some under seasoned and all of them poorly balanced. I’d go as far as to say some were almost inedible.Service was dreadful, the same dish being brought twice, a long wait between and bottled water replaced with tap water (and charged for). Our neighbouring table also seemed to be having the same problem. A first for me , we refused to pay the service charge There are better restaurants in London

Fabulous food & great service but what a shame that there's a time limit. Surely the whole idea of tapas is to take your time, as much time as you want but we were rushed. If you're billing your restaurant as a Mediterranean tapas bar, do as the Mediterraneans do & allow customers to relax and stay as long as they like. Larger tables would also be a good idea to hold all the delicious goodies on offer more comfortably.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal at Saltyard, the tapas was fresh, tasty and imaginative and every dish we tried was fantastic. We started with the Italian charcuterie selection Finocchiona (Tuscany), Wild Boar Salami (Tuscany) Capocollo (Emilia Romagna) with fresh bread and thoroughly enjoyed it. For the tapas we cose chorizo, pork belly, salt cod, plaice and patatas fritas. Every dish was beautifully presented and wonderfully flavoured and the portions were generous and all came with some sort of accompaniment. We really did not have room for dessert but shared a Valrhona Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse with Mini Churros, Oloroso Poached Plum and Salted Chocolate Crumb which was my favourite dish so I'm glad we didn't skip dessert.I would highly recommend the Saltyard, we went on a Tuesday night and it was packed, the tables are rather cosy but it all contributes to the overall atmosphere of the place which is intimate yet buzzing. You can even split the bill on an app if you are going dutch and we both received £5 off for using it.

The service was very ttentive, bringing the dishes bit by bit rather than serving them all at once, and we enjoyed every single dish. An interesting Spanish beer and the house white and red were very drinkable. Total bill was about £160, so it is not cheap, the tapas vary from about £7 to £9.50 each in the main. Salt Yard is one of 4 in Salt Yard group with Ember Yard (Berwick Street jct with Oxford St), Opera Tavern (covent Garden), Dehesa (Oxford Circus). You'll find superb charcuterie, cheeses and wine at each and a menu of mostly small plates which has some overlap. Places are informal, physically very different (large Opera Tavern v small Salt Yard) and full of dishes you won't see often inspired by Spanish and Italian traditions. Salt Yard's ranking on Trip Advisor doesn't make any sense - consider that Time Out megazine publishes London's '5 dishes to die for" each year and Salt Yard Group has two - fried courgette flower stuffed with blue cheese drizzled with honey (available at all) and a pork burger only available at Opera Tavern. My only disappointment is the way most dishes now cost about £8 rather than £5 or £6 of a few years back. Still special for the money...

We have been to saltyard lots of times in the past and have rated it as one of our favourite restaurants. However, last Friday we were left very very disappointed. Unfortunately saltyard seems to have become complacent with its growing popularity and are now going to lose longer, loyal customers as they lose their customer services values.Last Friday, we ran out of wine before all of our food arrived so wanted 1more glass with our food but, despite it only being 10.45pm on a Friday, we were told they were no longer serving wine. We would have found this irritating but wouldn't have made a fuss had the 'manager' (chris) not been so rude. We have never been spoken to in such a way and were mortified when he smirked and laughed rather than try to resolve the situation. When we got up to leave, he seemed to think it was funny and refused to offer an apology for his attitude. He had no care that customers were unhappy and seemed unbothered to be losing customers mid-meal. Such a shame that we won't be returning again.

Nice noisy atmosphere and close to the center of London but really a bit pricey. The food was Tapas type and tasty but as is often the case in restaurants they were putting a very hefty markup on the wine. £40 for one of their cheaper wines was to say the least a bit steep. I would go again for the atmosphere and food but drink water ! - It also seemed a bit steep to pay £12 for a plate of slices of Jambon and Salami. Prices are important in these days and there are plenty of Tapas bars so owners need to be careful not to price out clients.
