La hornada casera era preciosa. El personal es muy amable y acogedor. El único problema para mí es que rara vez estoy en esa parte de la ciudad. Ojalá estuviera más céntrico y abierto por más tiempo.

This is a community run cafe. Great lentil soup and other food for reasonable prices. It has a small play area for children and plenty of highchairs. The staff and volunteers are always friendly. It's just a shame it's only open Wednesday- Friday.

Oh my gosh what a hidden gem! Gorgeous cafe out of the bustle of Dalry Road. A huge space with vista windows letting in the natural light. Complete with a locked toy corner to occupy littles, a warm welcome, and bowls of hearty steaming soup - if this is not manna from heaven on a dreich day then I don’t know what is! Highly recommend!

Like another reviewer I have walked past Saltyard on numerous occasion but yesterday decided to pop in for a coffee. Whilst order I was tempted by the biggest homemade custard cream I've ever seen. The staff were lovely and friendly and the coffeee and cake went down a treat, all at a very reasonable price. What more could you ask for?

A great place to eat. Deeelicious food. The only bad thing is the calories you will gain but they do have healthy options if you close your eyes and pretend you don't see the yummy cakes

Lovely clean, airy cafe. My kids have enjoyed delicious Oreo cupcakes and I've had a great cup of coffee. There is a great little kids play area and the staff seem very relaxed and friendly.

Quality food, fairly priced in a relaxed, clean space. It's a church cafe but there's nothing 'churchy' about the place. I believe the staff are volunteers and they are all great.

This is a Church of Scotland cafe I think. Run by volunteers. Not expensive, home made food. Scones, soups, cakes, biscuits. Play corner for kids. Four Large sofas. Small tables that can be arranged flexibly for larger groups. Space for knitting groups (Saturday from 11 I believe) Space for wheelchairs. A lovely peaceful prayer room. I would like maybe a toasted sandwich or so on the menu. With a salad. To give us more choice. But otherwise. Perfect!

We came across this cafe when looking for somewhere to have lunch before going to Gorgie City Farm. What a lovely little place, nice and clean, staff were friendly and helpful and there was a nice little play area (however my 3 year old daughter was more interested in her lentil soup) Yummy cheese scones :)

Don't know how many times I have walked past this place without realizing it is a cafe open to anyone. Always thought it was a community centre for the locals. However in need of a coffee stop decided to look inside after reading the welcome board outside. Lovely clean open space with an area for children to play in while the mothers have a coffee a chat. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Coffee good and made just as I like it. Very reasonable prices. Will definitely call in again now that I have discovered this little gem.

The four of us are big fans of tapas and Yelp had good things to say about Saltyard. The space is very nice and modern, very difficult to find on the ground flor of an office building, all parking to the rear and in deck. The menus is about as complex as is possible. Our waiter had to tell us how to maneuver it and it's only one page.Salt is a big player here, roasted corn plate was good but too much salt. The tuna tartare tacos were wonderful and we ordered the scallop plate and asked that they be medium and of course they came out close to raw. Back they went and a half hour later we cancelled them apparently they were loss, that however did not preclude them from showing up on the check. Deserts were good, bread pudding was great. Bill came to $50 pp , we each had 2 cocktails. Bottom line, way to ambitious, too much room for errors and too much architecture in the presentation. Forrest our waiter was Excellent !Both ladies declared it "One and Done"

This place is fairly basic, but there's more or less nothing wrong with it. Sparsely decorated and feels a bit church-y. There are toys and the like, so parents can enjoy a decent coffee whilst keeping the kids entertained!

From the moment you step off busy Dalry road and across the threshold of SALTYARD cafe a feeling of inner peace washes over you. There is an unhurried air of calm which instantly puts you at ease. From the cheery, brightly-coloured bunting greeting you at the entrance, to the flourishing hand-written lettering scrawled large on the wall affirming that it is “nice to see you”, SALTYARD is the cafe equivalent of a beaming smile and a tight embrace from a dear friend. The space itself is light and airy thanks to large windows and skylights allowing patrons to bask in the Scottish sunshine when it streams in. The décor is meticulously thought-through channelling a chilled-out beach-house vibe, with hand-painted powder-blue and white signage, wooden furniture and leather sofas giving a natural, unspoiled feel. The neat, hand-written labels on miniature flags providing helpful cake descriptions and the chalk-on-blackboard menu all convey a laid-back, homey charm you only find in an establishment where the pleasure of customers is considered foremost.Staff and volunteers have a warm, welcoming manner and dish out the perfect balance of friendliness and light-hearted banter while remaining wholly unobtrusive so that private conversations are never under threat of unwanted interruption. Service is personal and slick with orders taken at the counter and delivered to tables. Hot drinks appear in colourful mugs and the home-made food is tasty and served in ample portions. The menu, while sticking firmly to cakes/snacks and soup or simple lunch platters, caters for every kind of coffee-lover and offers a variety of flavoured teas and caffeine-free options and juices. SALTYARD positions itself proudly as a fairtrade enterprise, hosting a delightful corner with artisan handicrafts, charmingly displayed on Welsh dressers, and with free wi-fi there are any number of reasons to linger. The venue caters thoughtfully for its younger customers with “LITTLE YARD” corner offering toddlers a haven of books and toys, all neatly fenced off with a child-height hinged door to ensure parents can enjoy hot drinks in safety and children have space to play. Although you could easily walk past this converted church without realising what treasure lies within, this understated cafe acts as a vibrant community hub and holds appeal to a wide selection of locals including senior citizens, mums and babies, students and local business professionals, and it's obvious why. SALTYARD is, simply put, a little piece of heaven on earth.

Came for lunch on a quiet Monday afternoon and got seated at a lovely window table overlooking the street. Ordered the Cullen Skink as a starter and the Venison for my main dish. Service and food were both outstanding. I highly recommend dining here.

We had our first visit to the Grand Cafe for Fizz and Flick where we had brunch followed by a film - on the most part, we loved our visit, however there were a few parts of the service that weren't great. We were asked if we would like our fizz upon entry and as my wife is pregnant, we asked if there was any non-alcoholic fizz as an alternative. The waitress said no, without giving any alternatives. We had to prompt if she could have a soft drink instead - which was fine. The majority of places we go, especially with a great reputation like the Grand Cafe, normally have non-alcoholic alternatives and staff don't require a prompt to offer a soft drink. The menu had around 6 options, 3 of which had hollandaise sauce and another with pesto. We asked if anything was unsuitable for pregnancy dietary requirements. The waitress went to ask the kitchen and came back to advise that the hollandaise sauce and pesto were unsuitable. There the options were quite limited. Instead of suggesting that the dishes were served without the sauce or pesto (they were just added on top of each meal) they were just ruled out completely. Again, it was a bit disappointing that there wasn't an alternative offered and instead the menu limited to two items. The food that we did have was delicious, it was just a shame there wasn't more variety for my wife. The overall experience was amazing and we'll definitely be back, maybe just without the brunch part.
