Dog friendly, great service, good food and drink - what more could you ask for

We visited area recently and were so impressed with food and ambience we booked to go back every night we were there. Lovely food and great menu with lots of choice. Large portions. Wish could pick it up and bring it home!!

Advertised as 'pub and restaurant' ????? Don't bother if you just want a drink. Food only!!!! Called in for a bottle of wine Friday 19th and turned away from an almost empty established. They must be making too much money if they can afford to turn away custom..... crazy !!!

Food came really quick and was steaming hot chips were hard and the barbecue burger was way too much sauce didn't eat much,could do with a lick of paint in there getting a bit tacky.

Love this place. Staff are lovely. Food brilliant and reasonably priced. I often get something off their imaginative specials board. This time it was the 20oz pork tomahawk steak. Also dog friendly.

Large filling meals, with good quick service,staff really helpful. Lots of regular customers.

Always loved this place ,,However tonight the service is no where near what it use to be,,, The lady who greeted us made a coment because we was a little early which was rude ,,,my starter was lovely except they didnt put any bacon in with laver bread and cockles,,,my Husbands steak which he asked for no blood had to mop his plate twice ,, french fries were over cooked to the point they were hard so wont be returning any time soon

Proper pub grub! Staff were really friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Excellent value for money.

We had a great meal at the inn, the portion sizes were large and we definitely didn’t need starters. The homemade chips were lovely and the staff they their stuff about Vegan options etc which is great and there’s nothing worse than being served by someone who isn’t sure about ingredients and what vegan means. We will be back

Although it calls itself an Inn the Saltwater Inn is not really a place where you can have a relaxing pint. I made my visit at 3pm on a wet Monday afternoon. The place was relatively empty as lunchtime was over. The lady behind the bar asked if I was going to eat. I wasn't. All I wanted was a pint. She then had to ask permission if she could serve me. I tried to pay by contactless but was told the minimum for paying by contactless was £10. I sat down then five minutes later was asked to move because the table was reserved for dog owners. I was there for 45 minutes and no-one came in to use the table. When I left l was the last person there. I can see why. Not exactly welcoming and not worth the hassle.

The food is excellent, good variety of choices on the menu and generous helpings. The staff a friendly and efficient, especially the chap behind the bar. Will definitely be back.

A very reasonably priced place to go for Sunday lunch. It's perhaps not the best cuts of meet or the tastiest veg and the cost of a pint is over whats expected but the gravy is lovely, staff are friendly and it's good value for money.

Sunday lunch was the best I've had in a long time. The service excellent and lovely staff. Food nice and hot and we didn't have to wait long. The price was really good too.

If you are up by Porthcawl Town area ans are thinking of some drinks ans food then you can try this place. They do some nice food here and also didn't have to wait long for my food inspite of a busy Sunday. Over all the service was really good 👍 and visit this place again.

Good food at reasonable prices. The staff were very welcoming ans the atmosphere was just great. We did not book but the place was busy on a Wednesday lunchtime so pre-booking would be a good idea.

We had banana blossom 'fish' and chips, which were really good. The service was prompt and friendly.

Nice little pub with pub grub. The staff where very nice and attentive. More than likely I will eat here again.

Went there today hoping to have a nice meal but what a disappointment, mini fish was grease bound and preheated hardly any fish. Corned beef pie was stale and hardly no corned beef in it and was served cold only thing fresh was the chips. So basically paid £21 for cup of tea and chips which we didn’t eat. Will not go there again.

I had their mega house burger (think that was what it was called) with the giant onion rings plus fries. Superbly cooked and incredibly tasty. Just really really nice. Others in my group also commented on how good their food was. (Beef curry and vegi burger)

Delicious home made steak and ale pie. Great mixed grill too. Always a great meal and also lovely Sunday lunch. Have recommended to others. Yum yum.

An impromptu stop here by fri3nds meeting up for Christmas led to wonderful staff making us welcome. A cracking pint and a lovely curry. I'm assuming by the dog water bowls that they are dog friendly in the main bar anyhow. Will be returning soon with the family!

The food was excellent but nearly all the staff was di miserable and seemed to be fed up and was rushing some people

17 of us all friends booked the saltwater inn for 13 dec for xmas meal. All catered for which included a wheelchair user. The restaurant put in an extra table for that person upon request. All meals were prebooked so no waiting and everybody got what they wanted. Steaks..Vegan.Sea Bass..3 course xmas dinner 21.95. Arrived at 615 for 6.30pm and left 9.30-10pm. Everybody enjoyed and cant wait for next year.BIg thanks to Sheree and the team.

The staff was friendly and accomodating, they served delicious food with good portions and at a very reasonable price for the area, definitely visiting again.

Service by the staff was exemplary starters were lovely but im afraid the the mains (curries) were a little tastless. Reasonably priced though

Don't let the exterior décor put you off you'll miss a gem if you do friendly helpful staff excellent quality food but book ahead.

Looked like a cheeky pub. In fact a gastropub. However I did get a pint and sat outside. Lovely helpful staff even though I was not eating. The food I saw looked good mind. Thank you

Visited last week with my family. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the saltwater chicken. The staff were friendly too! Every one of us was pleased with our meals! Also, the onion rings are HUGE!

Amazing food and a amazing staff, they managed to fit us (6) in on a busy Sunday evening, I had half rack of ribs, the plate was full to over flowing, my partner had melted chicken, again plate was over filling (not complaining about that 😉) all in all a very nice and pleasant meal

We arrived at this hidden gem without having booked on a sunny Saturday the staff went out of their way to find space for us 5 adults 3 toddlers . The food was amazing , and served quickly piping hot ,all the staff were exceptional. We will definitely be making future visits .

Go here regular but very disappointed today! The gentleman who took our food order was pushy about his real chips,,my husband had the large mix grill £24pds I think..he ordered real chips and peppercorn sauce with it..I ordered lamb well cooked..it come and it was blood turned my stomach so much couldn’t eat it..when too find someone as my husband had not had his real chips or his peppercorn sauce..she brought his chips but no sauce!! 10minutes later my food arrives back…burnt lamb in parts i was so disappointed only eat two potatoes and mushrooms..my husband never had his peppercorn sauce the man who takes the orders needs too listen too the orders he’s taking and also come back and see if our food is correct?not have me run around looking for a member of staff…our meals come too £47pounds very disappointed and will not be returning for a while until the man at front of house uses his head a bit and not rush people In too make money!

Didn't make a booking but was lucky enough to have a table. Had sirloin, surf and turf with peppercorn sauce, omg huge serving, so many beautiful flavours, steak cooked to perfection. So glad also that I made room for desert, apple pie cheesecake with ice cream. Would so hughlt recommend this pub food and staff were amazing 💖

An excellent meal with everything cooked to perfection. It was lovely sitting outside with the sun shining. All 5 meals were served exactly at the same time so we could all begin our excellent meal together.

Lovely fresh cooked Sunday dinner. Staff were great.

Lovely food and location. Specials menu was delicious and varied. We only ate off the specials menu, but if the swordfish is on the menu, or the Stilton crumble I would highly recommended either. The red velvet cheese cake and the Nutella gnocchi were a really nice guilty treat.

Very good value for money. Two meals and two drinks for less than £25. The waiting staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.

Very warm welcome, friendly staff, amazing proper pub food. I would like to keep it a secret so that nobody else would go there, but I can't so give it a try you won't be disappointed.

6 adults and 2 children walked in and they accommodated us. The kids meals are free Monday to Thursday. Colouring pens and paper to keep them occupied till meal arrived.

We come here quite regularly last here 2wks ago the difference in food was shocking I always have the Singapore pulled pork sizzler always perfect today 01/09/2023 was shocking half a potion came out first then called a lovely member of staff who sorted it...

A lovely place to go for some pub classics. The location is great, situated near some beauty spots of Porthcawl. The staff here were very friendly.
